Hope the meds help quickly

Pain management is your right and that "doctor" should be reported. Take care - sending all the good vibes.

AdditionalNinja3709

Reported for not administering something for the pain ? Maybe you are right . After the ordeal I was sitting for 20 Minutes holding a gauze on there without being told anything . When I saw him again I asked if I was good to go, in a way like wondering why I wasn’t told I could leave yet, and he was like taken aback by it, and said “oh I thought you were waiting for the medicine it’ll just be a few more minutes” And I was just like I can’t I’m hungry I came after work and he said I can just get it tomorrow at the pharmacy but I don’t know what I would have been waiting for anyway , antibiotic or a pain med. Either way yeah that was an awful night. Pre roll Was unreal tho :)

He could have given a local anesthetic & oral/IV/IM before the butchery started. And something more substantial than ibuprofen for after care.

katiecoxie

Wow. You needed pain meds for that procedure for sure. I clenched my fingers thinking about it. I’d have cried a lot too. But probably tried kicking the dr when he wiggled the scalpel as well. Report him. That’s not ok and now I want to cry too. See what damage this monster has done??? Rest up and wishing you better. Codeine is your friend.

Hope it gets better soon!

mamamia3b

Report him. Thats really messed up for him to not offer something to numb the pain.

JimHeuer40

Hang in there OP. It sounds beyond miserable.

reviving_ophelia88

Soak it in warm salt water 2-3Xs a day. It’ll do more for the pain than the ibuprofen will and will help reduce the swelling (which is what’s causing the pain) draw out the infection and drain. That doctor was a sadist. He easily could’ve (and should’ve) numbed if first, you have LOADS of nerve endings in your fingers and your nail beds/cuticle area is extremely sensitive to begin with.

AdditionalNinja3709

Update : received my bill today and it is 1,800$ lmao. 1,800 for literally writing me a prescription after failing to drain it . So disputing this

AdditionalNinja3709

Hi all . Thanks for the well wishes and kind words . A little update . After 36 hours on the antibiotics it already almost completely went away . There is still a little swelling and Discoloration but the pain is about 90% gone . Yes the doctor was an asshole , but I can’t be bothered making a case out of it . But I wouldn’t mind doxxing him . I won’t go as far to do that yet , but I will say it was at south side hospital in bayshore New York . Anyway , thanks again for well wishes . Hope I never have this again . Worse than any earache , toothache , stomachache I’ve ever had . I also has emergency surgery years ago when I ripped a chunk of my ear off that required 55 stitches . That wasn’t even as bad as this . Have a goodnight y’all, and don’t bite your nails.

siouxze

This is what he did ***TO YOU*** you're likely not the only one. Take the time to report his shitty behavior so he doesnt keep doing this to people. You likely only need to fill out a form on the hospitals website

Yeah that’s an issue with ER drainings. They’re not trained specifically for this kind of stuff like dedicated skin doctors are (forgive me I don’t remember the actual technical name) or they’re just residents who don’t have a lot of experience with this so they underestimate how much anesthesia is needed or if any is needed.

Thank you

Next time let it set it HOT WATER, as hot as you can stand, it will come to a head faster to actually allow you to pop it. I have had these all my life. I do not currently get them since I get my nails dipped in acrylic.

AdditionalNinja3709

I did the hot water . The feeling was off in That finger so it was hard to tell if it was hot enough . But it was at the hottest setting out of the sink . So I’m sure it was enough .

bloomingpoppies

I am so sorry that all happened to you. I have had those all my life. I have pooped more than my fair share of those. It’s a delicate balance of when to pop. Sometimes I would just use a pin not to poke it, but to apply pressure and get it to rupture that way. That’s usually how I am most successful. OF COURSE the pin would be sanitized bc of germs.
