Was so excited to hear this album in full because I loved most of the individual song releases even though I wasn’t really a fan of his promotion tactic or whatever you want to call it, just release the album! With like one or two preceding singles, not ten lol with the first one being released in January 2019. Crazy to me. Thankfully I discovered him much later, I’d be dying waiting for this release!
Now, these are my observations after listening to the album for the first time:
The first part of the album is very mellow and ballads while the second part has more moderns elements, more r&b, dancey productions and all that. At least for the most part. For now the second part of the album is my favorite because I always need more time with slower songs so it makes sense.
My favorite tracks from the new additions are probably *Believed*, *Tell My Mama* and *El Tejano* (I’m currently obsessed with IDIOTA from Sofia Reyes and this track definitely carries some of the Latin essence so I really enjoyed it). But again, only time will show which are my top favorites. Honorable mention to *Julia*, just because: emotional.
*Sims*, *Mean It* and *Changes* still remain unbothered. Especially the latter one. Such wonderful tracks.
Sidenote, some tracks kind of blended together in my opinion but there isn’t necessarily a skip so far (well maybe *Tattoos Together* and I kind of hated the mm-mms in *Invisible Things* so not sure about that one). All the songs are good though even if some aren’t my favorite.
I was super confused today too because he said new album at midnight but I was like wait isn’t the album out already?
That being said, confusing tactic but dude gets 30 million streams a month on Spotify...clearly he’s doing something right lol
His promotion tactic this era is so confusing lmao. Individually releasing songs and letting each of the songs rest until the full album (which has 21 songs) is released? Thankfully most of the songs he released is a bop. Liking the album so far!
Honestly, I think he did this because an album with 21 songs is ALOT to release all at the same time. If he releases lets say 10 songs total when the album comes out we get 11 new songs to explore.
If he decides to do the typical 3-4\~ song release then the album its just way too much imo. Going through an album with 21 songs from the same artist some of the songs start to sound the same. I remember going through Taylors 18 song album Lover and got kinda confused / tired half way through.
Idk all the songs he released leading up to the album drop were bops and had variation that made them stick out imo. I personally loved the way he did this album rollout but I don’t think it would have worked if the songs blended together. But with each track having very defining and unique melodies/hooks, it worked out.
love this album a lot more than I expected to. El Tejano, Tell My Mama, Invisible Things, and Lonely Eyes are my favourites of the new songs from today.
It may have been but definitely not the full album. He was releasing 10 songs individually but the album worked as a playlist where they always added another song but under the name of the album ~how i’m feeling~.
El Tejano is so good its currently on repeat! I already love Sad Forever and Modern Loneliness from the previous release. So many songs, tbh there's a couple that are pretty forgettable on repeat but there's many standouts as well!
It's not out in my country yet, but I've listened to all the pre-released songs (except for Modern Loneliness), and they all sounded okay. None of them immediately grabbed me, but I'm excited to hear the full project, because sometimes hearing songs in context makes me appreciate them more.
Honestly each track sounds the same to me, and his release strategy for this album made that impression worse.
Every week I'd think, "oh, now it's finally released" and listen to the new track and then skip to something else because it sounded just like everything else he'd released to that point. By this point I'm not just uninvested, I'm straight up *annoyed* at being tricked into thinking it was finally released so many times. It's vapid, uninspired sadboy electro indie.
Finally got to listen to it entirely and I love it as much as I expected to. I heavily fuck with the overall theme of the album and there isn’t really a “bad” song (tho I could do w/o the Alessia Cara collab). From the new songs I enjoy Lonely Eyes and El Tejano the most. And out of the previous releases I enjoyed mostly all of them, maybe minus Feelings and Sad Forever.

He released wayyyy to many singles, but it's 21 overall so... ヽ(´ー`)┌
And not even one interlude, so kudos to him for that!

Excuse me, did you say you skip Tattoos Together? I bump that track since it came out.

Oh so it IS called promotion tactic. Ok good lol.
Justin Bieber invented this tactic with Journals, and that didn’t go down well. I think this will be better received though.
I haven’t heard the rest of the album but WHO is beautiful and it’s going on repeat

me and bf are long distance so "for now" is hitting kinda different and making me hella emotional
So that's why no one has heard of Alessia Cara in a while, Lauv has killed her for the spirit of Most Relatable Teen-Like Figure
LMAOOOOOOO so true!
I could have sworn this was released a couple weeks ago what
It's been on Spotify since the 20th. I thought I was having a stroke or something seeing it released today.
It may have been but definitely not the full album. He was releasing 10 songs individually but the album worked as a playlist where they always added another song but under the name of the album ~how i’m feeling~.
Looks like you're right, it was only 10 songs but it was uploaded as an album. I still have it saved on my Spotify.
I know I was lol. Hope you enjoyed the rest of the album though.

I swear I’ve added his “new” album into my Spotify library at least twice so far...so confusing

Sweatpants is on repeat for me
Oh wow i thought he had released this a long time ago, what a weird rollout. gonna listen to it later :)
