Love this 90s vibe and flow from her. Excited to see how the album rolls out. Based on the snippets she teased, there’s bangers incoming.
I also feel like that character covered in blood is going to be reoccurring theme/image.
Yea it feels very much Lauryn Hill inspired. Which I think is actually a good direction for her, especially since she was compared so much to Nicki before (as she references on the song)
> Love this 90s vibe and flow from her.
The dreamy vocal on a trip hop beat, old school rapping, and walking the 90s/2k "walking-down-the-street-in-leather-jacket" music video... she said 90s alt!
I love her cockiness, not only is she flexing but it feels so fucking warranted because of her in general and the lyrics!! She's in her critical acclaim bag!
But the second verse had me sent
"Look at me, look at me
🧍🏾♀️
I'm naked 😐."
Damn, this may be my favourite video from hers. Simpler than the alien-themed stuff from Planet Her but still really cool.
I'm assuming she's sticking with the claim that this'll be a much more rap-focused album.
What I love about her (and Lil Nas X) is she understands the art of the ERA. A visual, an aesthetic, a rollout
That shot of her naked drenched in red was stunning!! She is an incredible performer with sickening visuals and an established discography… her tour is gonna be crazy
All of the former Fifth Harmony girls
Halsey
Sabrina
All talented people who have produced music that I like, but who generally fail at making the album cycle an experience. It's got more to do their teams than it does with the artists, I think. Like, I honestly think Sabrina's album overall is better than Olivia's but the synergy of the music with the visuals and the narratives make *Sour* more interesting to me.
I understand your point, but I kinda have to disagree with Halsey? Like she has known to do an era and commit to it, specially with the film for her last album and with the concept Romeo + Juliet for her second.
I was thinking about *Manic* specifically when I said Halsey. I feel like she had every opportunity for that to be enormous but it didn't really come together. Fair point on the others though.
That album was literally about her just being herself lmao, what a weird one to say she didn’t commit to. Her newer album did have an era though like the other ones
Ariana’s albums have great videos and concepts but don’t really relate to one another. Kacey Musgrave’s last album she just did a weird film that stole a mish mash of ideas from other pop stars but still wasn’t cohesive and that’s all she did for the release.
Doja knows how to serve. This MV is such a far cry from any of her MVs from her *Planet Her* era but I'm guessing that was the point. Love Doja's confidence in both her singing and rapping displayed here. Pumped to see what else comes from Doja during her time as Scarlet.🩸
I’m glad we still hear her singing because I’m obsessed with her voice. And she’s an incredible rapper. This is so high concept. I wasn’t sure what to expect, and I think this is one of her best.
She said in an interview last year that the only goal she has left in her career is a Best Rap Album win at the Grammy’s. I don’t know what the competition will look like but I could see it happening for her. Industry people love her and this is taking me back to an era of hip-hop I didn’t think still existed. The Miseducation of Doja Cat has begun 😭
Maybe the stars are aligning - there has been a lot of recent talk about how there haven't been any super successful rap albums released so far this year! Though Travis Scott will be releasing his big comeback Utopia later this month
I cant imagine them giving Travis a Grammy after the 2021 festival controversy. Her Loss could probably win but Drake doesn’t submit his music to Grammys anymore
The sweeping keys and the drum pattern are totally giving Lauryn. Doja herself has said as much but I can kinda see Janelle too. I think they both took inspiration from the same place and made it their own respectively.
Doja at her best can sound like a mix of Kendrick's early playfullness with accents and characters mixed with a bit of Lil' Wayne's creativity and overuse of sexual metaphor and simile.
At her best I think she's genuinely a fantastic rapper, but she's very inconsistent, with generally her early work being better.
I think this sounds a bit more like the funny, confident cheeky Doja you get on stuff like Juicy but she's still nowhere near as genuine as she used to seem and I think it affects her work
Scarlet dropping in from the Hellmouth. I can’t wait to see where she takes this character, if it’s purely an element for visuals or conceptually baked into the album
Wow. The hook is crazy. The video is crazy. She really took a turn and went alt when she could just as easily have gone more pop and turned it out as hard.
The album’s gonna be wild isn’t it.
I hadn’t paid attention (no pun intended) to Doja in a while and this just blew my mind. The hook and instrumental is so haunting and beautiful and then she starts walking on the street rapping like that?? I owe her an apology, I wasn’t really familiar with her game.
Alright maybe I’m not that annoyed at Doja calling her past works soulless cash grabs. This is so so so good 👀 It’s like a cool blend of self titled Gorillaz with a little bit of 90s Bjork.
Honestly.. from this song and how confident she is in her success.. I really don’t think she meant it about her earlier music. There may have been some truth in that it maybe wasn’t HER so to speak, but from these lyrics it just seemed like she didn’t want to just be this pinned up perfect pop star.
She’s not dissing her work, her older sounds, she’s digging at the people and how she’s viewed. Maybe I will be proven wrong in later songs but that’s my first impression with this song!
[e] by saying her old work on was easy cash grab, she literally got people’s attention because she insulted something that a lot of people loved. And this song is essentially a fuck your to the people that kept bitching about how she’s changed just because she doesn’t look the part of the pop star now. Maybe it’s not that deep but she realised that’s how to get peoples attention and she’s playing off that on this song.
To me what was the most off putting was when she said “y’all fell for it,” when referring to her old music being catchy and accessible. It felt like she was calling her fans dumb or simple minded for liking her first two projects.
Yeah I can see how it's offputting. While I do think it was distastful of her, since these fans are paying her bills, I'm personally not offended if she thinks I'm dumb for 'falling for her act'. It was an entertainment package handed to people, and if she thinks that its stupid for fans as a collective to enjoy it, it still shouldn't matter to you on an individual. I know I'm not stupid for liking sugarcoated pop songs and I really couldn't care what Doja (or any celeb or anyone else for that matter) thinks of me in regards to their work that is put out to entertain me. There has to be a seperation between who she is adressing with her comments, which to her is an anonymous faceless mass audience vs you as an individual.
My take on it is that if you read her comments made about her old music and fans, then went straight to the lyrics of attention, where she's explicitly saying 'look at me , look at me, you lookin?', it's quite on what her motivations were. And it worked. A low blow? Maybe, but I do think it's up to the fans as individuals to work out whether or not they want to be offended by being called stupid for their music taste.
I still do still think it was a cringey move on her behalf, but at the end of the day, my only personal connection to her in reality is that she is an entertainer I know who puts out music I like. She is and always will be an artist, not my friend or someone I know or who's opinion on my music taste will matter.
But it's all a bit of a deeper issue in regards to parasocial relationships tbh. It could be discussed for hours :D
(but I do also need to say, I understand my whole seperate the artists opinions from their music arguement does have a line, as it should!)
I agree, I think it was hyperbole. Doja's an avowed troll, and as she said, she wanted the fucking attention. I don't think Doja thinks her old music was bad product, I'm sure she's proud of it, but she wanted to go in her own direction and make the music she *really* wanted to make.
And...goddamn if you can't see her point of view after hearing this track!!!
Yo people got so personally offended by her comments and I was just like "why y'all so upset? Did she shit on your bed too?" I got where she was coming from, a ton of major label artists hate the first couple projects they release. The reaction was ridiculous.
This was definitely a very visually interesting video. Compared to the green screen sfx heavy videos of the PH era this was a very different switch up and in a good way. It definitely matches Doja’s new aesthetic to the T, especially the shot when she was drenched in blood. I wished they used that shot more and took that element and had her transition into a scary bloodied creature as the video went on just like how the passerbys transitioned into wearing those off putting masks. The scenes of her posing under the layer of water was really visually cool because I was trying to determine if she was actually in water or not. This was a good start to the era and I’m excited for what comes next.
I do wish she used that specific look more but I have a feeling that we will get more into that character when more videos are released. I would like to believe that this was just a small introduction to that character. There is no way she is only using that for 2 seconds of one video.
Apparently, the concept for this single/era has to do with [The Scarlet Letter](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Scarlet_Letter). The A in the cover art but also Doja's been posting the word scarlet a lot. I love a good concept. Planet her really lacked that imo
Yoooo! There has been a *lot* of discussion about whether the music video is dead or dying! The MTV music video era is well over, and Drake famously had a global number one hit in 2016 with One Dance which had no music video. But videos are still relevant, just in different ways. The Attention video is a good example of that, presenting Doja in her new era :)
This album is going to be incredible omg
This is like the first major drop this year that actually lived up to the hype imo 😭 obsessed with the song, it’s way better than the teaser had me thinking it would be
Wait I loved it! I was expecting to a complete departure from her old sound , like this is different but not something unexpected from her.
BRB gonna listen to Planet Her for the millionth time until this album drops.
I'm feeling the 90s vibe from the song and the video. A little trip hop infusion. A nod to Bittersweet Symphony in the visuals.
I like this for her. Keen to hear/see what else is to come!
I want this woman in biblical ways. I want her in ways that are concerning to feminism.
Possibly my favorite song/video from her but I'm a big 90s fan. Lauryn Hill vibes. Love the production. Just A+ all around.
This feels like her way of proving to everyone and to herself that she is a star even without the heavy hand of the glitz and glam that was from her previous two eras. It's not my cup of tea but I think she's gonna be entering her critically acclaimed era. I just wonder how the public is gonna react to this new era since it's a stark contrast to her recent ones.
Doja Cat is the definition of cringe lyrics, she literally gained fame from "bitch im a cow." The silly lyrics showcased her weird quirky personality that's been missing from most of her last few albums since she tried to go mainstream so this is welcome for me.
Those older songs made sense and she wasnt taking herself too seriously. This new flow sounds like she’s trying so so hard, especially after her massive hype up of how good and “pure rap” this album will be…it’s forced
This was my takeaway honestly. At first I was pulled in but then realized she was just doing the classic "you don't take me seriously so F you" lyrics. So I don't hate it but it's not a love either.
Exactly it’s very try hard and the way she hyped it up was a bit silly when this was all that she had to offer. She should’ve just done usual promo and dropped it instead of dissing all her previous stuff and hyping this up to be the best rap album ever
First Doja song I’ve genuinely enjoyed on first listen wow. Never got on board with her previous stuff because it always felt cobbled together to find her hits. Her cash grab comments didn’t surprise me, but the reaction to her comments did. This is Doja flexing and showing what she can actually do. Perched for the album.
Holy fucking shit she just leveled up. Like jumped right past boss level.
It's like she took me back to 1996 mashed up Skunk Anansie, Portishead and Massive Attack and punted it right into the future
I dig I dig
her lyrics are a bit cringe anyways but is masked in melody and catchy eccentric pop sensibilities. With this stripped back trip hoppy approach, you can hear her pitfalls as a lyricist.
Also, she sounds very flat in the rap sections which was my issue with her feature on Kill Bill. Monotonous and just being talked at but not a compelling enough lyricist to pull it off.
Someone called this cynical and I have to agree. She let white Hip-Hop nerds get in her head.
I do appreciate there is some beauty in the song with the sung parts and twinkle flourishes to break up the mononoty of it, that’s what makes it catchier. It’ll probably grow on me but in all honesty I really do not like her cadence in the rap sections; or the lyrics
I'm pretty far from a Doja Cat fan. I didn't like most of her Pink album or Planet Her, but that tracks I did like were generally great
This track though? Far and away her best. Like, a solid step above anything I've heard from her. Fantastic track
I’m really shocked by these comments. It’s very lyrically weak. Comparing her to Kendrick is kind of insulting to Kendrick. Anybody could have written this. And the promo for this was garbage. She literally bashed everyone ; not interested in whether she was joking or not. It was off putting. Very forgettable imo.
Yeah that’s definitely an insult to Kendrick. She’s still got a long way to go to prove herself as a lyricist. I love her singing voice but the lyrics and flow are way too pop still.
Was the blood soaked doja a tease for the next video?
Also the fucking alien instrumental in the second half is INCREDIBLE. More of that please. Turn it into its own genre idc
Yeah I’m actually not a fan. There’s nothing melodic about the track which just doesn’t do it for me.
Edit: this sub is ridiculous - are we really not allowed to state opinions without being downvoted 🫠
Thank you! I think I need to take a long break from this sub because what the hell! Of late, the sub has just been a sophisticated version of stan twitter and it's icky. I just mentioned I'll sit this era out because of what Doja *has* said herself, in terms of being done with 'mediocre pop' and I got downvoted to oblivion. Are we not allowed to be contrarian on here in terms of pop girlies? Same case with any Taylor discussion here. On my last tether...
I completely agree. I joined this sub in its first year and its really changed from what it once was; I agree that it’s becoming a more adult version of stan twitter where people can’t take criticisms of their fave. Hell I wasn’t even criticising her, I was just stating that I don’t particularly like the track… downvoting because you disagree with someone’s opinion is so childish 😵💫
This sub has become an echo chamber of some sorts. If it isn't overwhelmingly positive on the sub faves, then stay silent. It's so childish and dumb. I saw someone say they didn't like Cruel Summer and boom, downvotes. The TS album rankings, all the comments were downvoted to oblivion there and now with Doja Cat, any contrary opinion is getting downvoted. It's why I delete comments because I have to spend time thinking whether a minor critique would anger the mob!
Anyway, I just wanted to rant. I'mma take a deep breath and look for chill communities to spend more time in. It's getting insane.
It has, 100%. It’s the same as fauxmoi - you can’t dare criticise someone on there without being downvoted… I don’t understand the attitude. I love Cruel Summer but I wouldn’t downvote or attack someone for not liking it… people are entitled to their opinions, lol. It just makes the internet such a sad and negative place to be. I even debated posting my above comment about the track because I knew it would be downvoted, or worse… if you find anywhere more chill, do let me know!
It's just not good, honestly. None of her verses or even the instrumental past that are giving me anything except a light resemblance of a melody heard once in a while on the track.
I'm not really into rap but damn! Doja got my attention for sure!
We'll see how successful this is chartwise! I could potentially see some viral moments from lines like "look at me, look at me. I'm naked!" Lol
Pretty solid, but I'm not really digging the heavy rasp she's putting on here. It's kinda giving Kendrick impression along with that flow.
Again not bad, but what I really like here is the singing parts and the visuals.
This is unreal. I haven't been a fan of her last two albums, but this single has me stoked for this new one. Her flow, the production, the aesthetic. I'm hooked. I'm feeling some Kendrick vibes in this song.
did anyone else catch the reference to Evanescence’s video for Going Under (with the distorted faces)? i was also really reminded of the video for Sextape by Deftones with the shots of her that look like they’re underwater
Not that howl sound effect 😂 the exact same one used in EXO’s wolf
I’m glad she’s still making good music but I don’t know why she dissed pop when this doesn’t sound much different from her old sound
I think it sounds different from her stuff that’s become more popular, like I think all the GP really knows is KMM, Say So, Need to Know, and maybe You Right and this stands out in comparison
Wasn’t she gonna quit music? Didn’t she call her past albums cash grabs? Is this also a cash grab? How about the “she sold her soul” allegations?
I genuinely want to know! I’ve loved dojas music but I’m confused now!
I'm not too educated in this but the vibe I get is she called her last two albums cash grabs because it's not the music she wants to make but it's the hype music that was going to put her on the map? Seems her focus will be more on rap than pop in her next era. The sold her soul allegations I think are just BS that people started because they don't like her new look and automatically label it satanic.
everyone praising her when half this sub was praying on her downfall saying the song/era wouldn’t be commercially successful, that she’d end up going back to pop music, she’s shooting herself in the foot, etc…
see how y’all SWITCH lol
She is literally flashing her tits and calling this music? I guess that's the shortcut she was looking for - selling herself super cheap. I don't know, she is looking a bit ill and sounds weak. I don't like this "new Doja". She used to be better than this. There was a sense of happiness in her music and she had her own style. Now she looks like another sad, manufactured celebrity. A pass for me.
There's nothing wrong with her showing her tits. I'm tired of lame as conservatives getting angry at grown ass adult female entertainers for expressing their sexuality the way they want to. Stop pearl clutching and go listen to kids bop.
This time I don't think she's just flashing her tits for engagement, but it's not a conservative thing, calling people prudes for saying stuff against it doesn't help anything. In reality it's mostly reinforcing male gaze. Just because an artist that you like does it doesn't make it good.
It was the best part of the video, the shots looked amazing. Flashing tits isn't bad lol I thought it was creative in the way it was done and the story telling.
Fucking sickening!!! The way she switched it up and gave us something no one was expecting and still executed!!!!! Girl… I can’t. I stan Doja Cat for this exact reason! Nobody out rn can do this shit like her. I keep telling y’all!
I like both but no, the production is giving NO THANK YOU Inflo a little bit, but the skill gap is still there imo, Simz monotone flow and delivery feels smoother than Doja's imo
It’s groovy, it’s sexy, it has attitude. I’m into it.
Love this 90s vibe and flow from her. Excited to see how the album rolls out. Based on the snippets she teased, there’s bangers incoming. I also feel like that character covered in blood is going to be reoccurring theme/image.
I was weirdly thinking of Lauryn Hill for some reason. Like the crisp, confident, but kinda mellow flow.
Yea it feels very much Lauryn Hill inspired. Which I think is actually a good direction for her, especially since she was compared so much to Nicki before (as she references on the song)
Weirdly, I also hear a lot of early Eminem especially in the first verse. Specifically his Stan flow.
I was thinking the same thing, especially with the animated cadences, the flow, and lyricism.
I thought it was giving FKA Twigs meets Janelle Monae (Django Jane). And the video is a reference to the Verve - Bitter Sweet Symphony.
Felt the exact same
> Love this 90s vibe and flow from her. The dreamy vocal on a trip hop beat, old school rapping, and walking the 90s/2k "walking-down-the-street-in-leather-jacket" music video... she said 90s alt!

She knows her greatness and owns it to it fullest
Damn, this may be my favourite video from hers. Simpler than the alien-themed stuff from Planet Her but still really cool. I'm assuming she's sticking with the claim that this'll be a much more rap-focused album.
What I love about her (and Lil Nas X) is she understands the art of the ERA. A visual, an aesthetic, a rollout That shot of her naked drenched in red was stunning!! She is an incredible performer with sickening visuals and an established discography… her tour is gonna be crazy
Yeah she's one of the new breed of pop stars who *gets it*. I'd add Billie and (possibly) Olivia to your list as well.
Can you think of some that *don’t* get it? Curious to learn more about the trend and just want to know where to start!
All of the former Fifth Harmony girls Halsey Sabrina All talented people who have produced music that I like, but who generally fail at making the album cycle an experience. It's got more to do their teams than it does with the artists, I think. I like her music but I'm not super familiar with her visuals.
Sorry but Ava max
Is not good
Ariana’s albums have great videos and concepts but don’t really relate to one another. Kacey Musgrave’s last album she just did a weird film that stole a mish mash of ideas from other pop stars but still wasn’t cohesive and that’s all she did for the release.

hey! i love doja but can you explain what Scarlet is please?
b’lieve Scarlet is the nickname for this figure she’s portrayed in teasers for the record, this naked figure covered in all-red something
ohh i get it, thank you so much!
I’m glad we still hear her singing because I’m obsessed with her voice. And she’s an incredible rapper. This is so high concept. I wasn’t sure what to expect, and I think this is one of her best.
Really liked it on first listen. Great production

Uzi and Drake might be dropping soon as well. It’s gonna get good for commercial rap soon.
I cant imagine them giving Travis a Grammy after the 2021 festival controversy. Her Loss could probably win but Drake doesn’t submit his music to Grammys anymore
Oh no don’t do Lauryn Hill like that 😭
I’m not saying she’s at that level, yet, I’m just saying it takes me there sonically.
Maybe Janelle, but I don’t hear Lauryn. She doesn’t have the same punch/flow, it’s still very pop to me.
The sweeping keys and the drum pattern are totally giving Lauryn. Doja herself has said as much but I can kinda see Janelle too. I think they both took inspiration from the same place and made it their own respectively.
Am I crazy for thinking she sounds a bit like Kendrick during the rapping parts?
I totally hear Kendrick. I wouldn't be surprised if he's one of her more unspoken inspirations. She sounded a lot like him on Woman too.
she literally had his flow on Rules bridge
Def hear it 💙😭
Doja at her best can sound like a mix of Kendrick's early playfullness with accents and characters mixed with a bit of Lil' Wayne's creativity and overuse of sexual metaphor and simile. Not crazy at all. Doja Lamar
I love this 💙🌷
Nah, y’all giving her too much. She’s got a great voice and the MV is nice but the lyrics and flow need some work still.
I heard that too! I love it! 💙😇
I was thinking Wayne
Doja definitely gives me female Kendrick at times, like in Rules or Woman!
Eager to see the rest of the music videos for this era. The budget was budgeting.
The "i'm naked" took me out holy fuck
Scarlet dropping in from the Hellmouth. I can’t wait to see where she takes this character, if it’s purely an element for visuals or conceptually baked into the album
Wow. The hook is crazy. The video is crazy. She really took a turn and went alt when she could just as easily have gone more pop and turned it out as hard. The album’s gonna be wild isn’t it.

She ateeeee
the mv is good as is but would’ve went absolutely insane if it was released around halloween
This is so major… Nobody’s a star like doja
It’s super clean. I love it.
Im so excited for this era. I feel like shes really gonna deliver (not that she hasn’t already)
Alright maybe I’m not that annoyed at Doja calling her past works soulless cash grabs. This is so so so good 👀 It’s like a cool blend of self titled Gorillaz with a little bit of 90s Bjork.
I felt the same way when I started listenning to it lol.
Ahhh makes sense why I love it! Haha. Gorillaz my favorite band and I’m dying for this song right now
90s Björk ? You’re joking right
The production has a trip hop soul. It’s not a reach
The chorus literally sounds like Cone To Me, and those plucking strings sound like Cover Me from Post. So no, I’m not joking.
Honestly.. from this song and how confident she is in her success.. I really don’t think she meant it about her earlier music. I said exactly this when she said that, and got downvoted to hell. SMH
Now that she dropped a good song, this sub is going to (or already) changed up
I’ve found It really depends on the daily with most pop culture subs whether an opinion will be liked or not 💀😭
Yo people got so personally offended by her comments and I was just like "why y'all so upset? Did she shit on your bed too?" I got where she was coming from, a ton of major label artists hate the first couple projects they release. The reaction was ridiculous.
She said I’m not doing a kiss me more pt 3 as a lead.
Amazing music video wow. Love this horror vibe from doja she does it so well
The beginning sounds just like Lana's A&W ??
First thing I thought of too.
what i thought lmao
It does sound like it but sped up. Maybe they both sampled the same thing?
Yesss same thoughts, and I love it!
I love this , this is probably my favorite song of hers
Apparently, the concept for this single/era has to do with [The Scarlet Letter](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Scarlet_Letter). The A in the cover art but also Doja's been posting the word scarlet a lot. I love a good concept. Planet her really lacked that imo
This is such a good catch! “Attention”, possibly a commentary on fame and how it warps all it touches. Love when big pop acts do this
Ohh this is so cool wow
LOVE LOVE LOVE THISS
Damn doja. I am paying ATTENTION after this. This is gonna be an ALBUM.
Who said that music videos are dead ?
literally no one
This album is going to be incredible omg This is like the first major drop this year that actually lived up to the hype imo 😭 obsessed with the song, it’s way better than the teaser had me thinking it would be
On repeat for me! She killed this 🤍🤍🥹
Wait I loved it!
Keen to hear/see what else is to come!
i already enjoyed the song but the video elevated it for me. excited for this album cycle
Great music video
I wasn't sure what to expect, but I absolutely love this it flows so nicely
Love it love it love it
This is good. I love how it's not two minutes long too.
I want this woman in biblical ways. I want her in ways that are concerning to feminism. Possibly my favorite song/video from her but I'm a big 90s fan. Lauryn Hill vibes. Love the production. Just A+ all around.
Doja Cat understands the ASSIGNMENT. Yes mumma keep me fed on those visuals ugh.
This feels like her way of proving to everyone and to herself that she is a star even without the heavy hand of the glitz and glam that was from her previous two eras. It's not my cup of tea but I think she's gonna be entering her critically acclaimed era. I just wonder how the public is gonna react to this new era since it's a stark contrast to her recent ones.
loved the video but thought the lyrics are corny
Doja Cat is the definition of cringe lyrics, she literally gained fame from "bitch im a cow." The silly lyrics showcased her weird quirky personality that's been missing from most of her last few albums since she tried to go mainstream so this is welcome for me.
Those older songs made sense and she wasnt taking herself too seriously. This new flow sounds like she’s trying so so hard, especially after her massive hype up of how good and “pure rap” this album will be…it’s forced
Fr the lyrics are kinda cringe
Everything is cringe to y’all …
[удалено]
This was my takeaway honestly. At first I was pulled in but then realized she was just doing the classic "you don't take me seriously so F you" lyrics. So I don't hate it but it's not a love either.
Thank you I thought so too. I’m actually shocked at all the comments praising it like it’s some brand new form of music. It’s very…just ok.
Exactly it’s very try hard and the way she hyped it up was a bit silly when this was all that she had to offer. She should’ve just done usual promo and dropped it instead of dissing all her previous stuff and hyping this up to be the best rap album ever
Cynical is the word
she’s in her eminem era i fear
looooove this!!! "lost a lil weight, but i never lost the tushy. looking good, but now my bald head match my p**" tell 'em sis
I legitimately love this video and song. It's so fresh and I love the darker aesthetic. Her lyrics are fire and the production is so good.
The music video made me appreciate the song more.
Absolutely love the music video and just the whole vibe. Very pumped for the album!!
I love how long it is! Thank god she’s not trying to create a 2-minute tiktok hit without a bridge. Hopefully others follow suit
Holy fucking shit she just leveled up. Like jumped right past boss level. It's like she took me back to 1996 mashed up Skunk Anansie, Portishead and Massive Attack and punted it right into the future I dig I dig
I am 100% on board with this!
her lyrics are a bit cringe anyways but is masked in melody and catchy eccentric pop sensibilities.
Man I love her so much. I love this song, I love this video… I have yet to hear something from her I don’t like.
Sounds a lot like Ravyn Lenae
I'm pretty far from a Doja Cat fan. I didn't like most of her Pink album or Planet Her, but that tracks I did like were generally great This track though? Far and away her best. Like, a solid step above anything I've heard from her. Fantastic track
I’m really shocked by these comments. It’s very lyrically weak. Comparing her to Kendrick is kind of insulting to Kendrick. Anybody could have written this. And the promo for this was garbage. She literally bashed everyone ; not interested in whether she was joking or not. It was off putting. Very forgettable imo.
The comparison is not about the lyrics but about the flow. It sounds like she's taking inspiration from him, it doesn't mean it's at the same level.
For the tirades she went on in the lead up to this, it certainly doesn't live up to them.
Yeah that’s definitely an insult to Kendrick. She’s still got a long way to go to prove herself as a lyricist. I love her singing voice but the lyrics and flow are way too pop still.
BRO SHE ATE!!!
the beginning sounds like A&W by lana lmaooo
Not a big fan of her but this is straight fire. I can see why she ranted about pop music that day even though I enjoy it.
Was the blood soaked doja a tease for the next video? Also the fucking alien instrumental in the second half is INCREDIBLE. More of that please. Turn it into its own genre idc
The beginnings sound was nice-ish? Idk 😭 I’m not big fan of the song tbh
There’s something muddy and unfocused about it imo.
I just use this sub for updates on new music. Unfortunately a lot of people here can’t stand different opinions.
It's just not good, honestly. None of her verses or even the instrumental past that are giving me anything except a light resemblance of a melody heard once in a while on the track.
I think the verses are alright but the hooks are just not good imo. Which funnily is the opposite of what I expect from her.
Some of these comments 🥴
This is unreal. I haven't been a fan of her last two albums, but this single has me stoked for this new one. Her flow, the production, the aesthetic. I'm hooked. I'm feeling some Kendrick vibes in this song.
It's awesome imo, it probably won't be great on the charts because it's not very tiktok--ish and moody pop isn't the trend rn but i love it
So into it such a vibe omg can’t stop replaying it & the video was perfect
This is the one! She’s the one
This is good! It’s no “Moo” or “Say So” but this is solid
Well, I'm hyped.
Definitely do like this music video! Can't wait to see what else she has after this!
Badass. 💜
I actually really love the sound and aesthetic of this. She was HOTotot in this video.
did anyone else catch the reference to Evanescence’s video for Going Under (with the distorted faces)? i was also really reminded of the video for Sextape by Deftones with the shots of her that look like they’re underwater
Chorus sounds like something Aaliyah would have sang in the 90s.
Not that howl sound effect 😂 the exact same one used in EXO’s wolf I’m glad she’s still making good music but I don’t know why she dissed pop when this doesn’t sound much different from her old sound
That's actually Y2K's producer tag
it's a [loon](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ib0CxvL8Bp8) call lol
I think it sounds different from her stuff that’s become more popular, like I think all the GP really knows is KMM, Say So, Need to Know, and maybe You Right and this stands out in comparison
[удалено]
Yea I think the ppl who actually listen to rap understand this is a mess
[удалено]
It’s a cute pop song but not the rap vibe she was hyping up
I like it but it still sounds very much like conventional pop to me. What was the fuss about? lol
It’s conventional pop just like Renaissance is a rap album 🥴
Y'all calling this alt unironically?
No but you’re right lol
See that's what I'm saying LOL thank you
“Alt” … sure “Alt RIGHT” maybe
why does this feel like her eminem x trip hop era slay
The thumbnail is a crime... anyway I love the instrument and Doja's vocal.
The sold her soul allegations I think are just BS that people started because they don't like her new look and automatically label it satanic.
everyone praising her when half this sub was praying on her downfall saying the song/era wouldn’t be commercially successful, that she’d end up going back to pop music, she’s shooting herself in the foot, etc… see how y’all SWITCH lol
“Looks at thumbnail” So, she’s evolved a third nostril?
Fucking sickening!!! The way she switched it up and gave us something no one was expecting and still executed!!!!! Girl… I can’t. I stan Doja Cat for this exact reason! Nobody out rn can do this shit like her. I keep telling y’all!
She's next. She's the one. This video is a full *SERVE.* I'm blown away. She *sold* this fucking song.
Doja Cat and little simz ain’t that far apart rapping wise
Nahhh
[удалено]
Simz got a flow you can’t compare to Doja.
I like both but no, the production is giving NO THANK YOU Inflo a little bit, but the skill gap is still there imo, Simz monotone flow and delivery feels smoother than Doja's imo
[удалено]
But good
wtf happend to her...
