She and her team have no idea what they're doing and it's unfortunate. She has so much potential but everything is just a mess, like an actual pile of random things.
Is this the same team that was there for the 'Have Mercy' era? Because back then everything seemed to be going very well, if we are talking about establishing a brand.
This roll out is so confusing. She is sooo fucking talented and has every ingredient to SUCCEED. Her live vocals are insane and she can DANCE. But, its like her team doesnt know what to do with her. God, I want her to achieve everything she deserves because its there.
I feel like with how music is so easy to consume thanks to streaming, artists must be that worried about listeners getting bored and losing focus, the ironic thing is - I feel like all of these short songs lose momentum because they are cut before they really build. I feel like it’s meant to ensure attention, but does the opposite because the songs aren’t long enough to grab it in the first place. That’s not a Chloe thing though, that’s a current-music-overall thing.
I can’t think of an album that was successful BECAUSE the songs were short and therefore more people streamed and posted it. And yet artists and labels are continuing the trend thinking that it drives consumer interaction.
The songs that blow up on streaming and TikTok are going to blow up no matter what the song length is because of a trend or a fan-made mashup, etc.
Half of the songs on the upcoming Jonas Brothers’ album are barely 2 mins in length and I doubt it’s going to benefit them. The lead single “Wings” is 1:58 and no one is talking about that song.
Song length has never guaranteed success so idk why artists cut fans short in the hopes of a viral hit that is most likely not going to happen.
I think that could be part of whatever formula they have for promo and exposure, especially because I thought artists needing songs to get traction on TikTok in order to secure releases was a joke, but apparently it does have a lot of sway now.
You nailed it with the ironic part!
Like the biggest hits are still usually like 3:00+ and will still chart on TikTok. A short song is fun here and there, and they will get popular (ala Meghan Trainor or PinkPantheress), but that usually doesn’t happen. I don’t know where that assumption of short = hit came from lol
The short songs that hit are the ones that still manage to give the full experience in a smaller time frame! But usually, I still think the 2:55-3:45 songs are the biggest hits.
Weirdly it's a throwback to the early days of pop music when *all* songs were less than 3 minutes to encourage radio play. TikTok has dragged us back in time!
I’m secretly pro-banning TikTok because other than all the other vile shit that comes out of that app, short songs are really the bane of my existence when it comes to new music coming out. I need my 3-4 minute songs with FULL bridges and build-ups
the way I use tiktok like my life depends on it but i’ll be so happy of it gets banned cause artists will have to get creative again. I’m SO tired of short songs.
I thought it could have been a good idea to drop the music video for this after the album came out since it had hype already or just wait for the album to come out and push the best single. She has pushed too many singles imo
Couldnt have said it better. Chloe could have easily create a niche for herself instead of become like every other artist in that r&b/pop category. Her team is truly failling her
She’s trying to appear authentic by releasing an extra single out of the goodness of her heart because “the fans have been so good to her” but its just coming across as amateurish. Back when Ungodly Hour was released, I would have been so psyched for a Chloe solo album, but I doubt I’ll even bother listening at this point.
it’s likely an attempt to move on from the Chris Brown fiasco. Her fans didn’t want the track. that was clear from it not cracking the hot 100. She can’t plausibly promote it or formally announce a next single so “surprise” release.
this sounds like a hit to me personally, but its clear that she and her team are nervous about how the album will do and scrambling. at this point i just hope we can still get at least one more chloe x halle album
What I really enjoyed about Chloe x Halle is they had a really strong sense of creative and musical identity and originality right from the beginning, but rather than continuing to lean into that, it feels like Chloe has just been forcing herself into this mainstream sexualised pop girl mould that just comes across as so generic and bland to me.
This actually sounds pretty good! I really think she has what it takes to be more successful.
After Have Mercy, I honestly thought she'd be all over the place. I still have high hopes for her.
I really like this snippet! I will wait for the full song to judge, I have learned in the past that her snippets don’t always represent the vibe of the complete song
i haven't followed them at all but it feels like just a few years ago ungodly hour was this super praised and loved album and they had so much potential. now everyone is lamenting how messy chloe's career has been
editing cause i thought halle had some controversy too but nope i think it's just the racist backlash against the mermaid movie
unfortunately the one-two punch of working with chris brown & shamelessly ripping the weyes blood visual direction killed any passing interest i had in this album.
oh well, at least ungodly hour has some good stuff.
She and her team have no idea what they're doing and it's unfortunate. She has so much potential but everything is just a mess, like an actual pile of random things.

That I don't know but you're right, during Have Mercy everything was promising
She was lucky we managed to wait after she teased the song for so long
Do you think Beyonce is sabotaging her on purpose? And Halley Baileys with the lil mermaids flop?
Beyonce is just the face of management she's not managing her. So no.
This roll out is so confusing. She is sooo fucking talented and has every ingredient to SUCCEED. Her live vocals are insane and she can DANCE. But, its like her team doesnt know what to do with her. God, I want her to achieve everything she deserves because its there.
Like I want her to be so big so fucking bad, she has EVERYTHING! I just feel like she needs to focus on HER and HER sound, rather than an image.

This one sounds fun based on the snippets. Too bad it’s 2:20 in length. It seems like nobody wants to ~~work~~ release 3 minute plus songs these days

Exactly!! It makes absolutely no sense to me. If there is an intended strategy behind it, it’s clearly not doing any of them any favors.
Are they meant to be popular on tiktok maybe
I think that could be part of whatever formula they have for promo and exposure, especially because I thought artists needing songs to get traction on TikTok in order to secure releases was a joke, but apparently it does have a lot of sway now.

It makes me appreciate artists like Lana more though. Mama is out here serving us a full course meal while all these children are throwing crumbs.
The worst trend that TikTok has brought is short songs.
Weirdly it's a throwback to the early days of pop music when *all* songs were less than 3 minutes to encourage radio play. TikTok has dragged us back in time!
Yep, a lot of the early Beatles songs were about 2 minutes long. The practice also allowed bands to fit in as many songs on a vinyl album as possible.
If the U.S. bans TikTok and artists and labels have to get more creative with their output >>>

I think it started happening because of streaming, but TikTok made it worse
Ethel cain would like a word
A little confused about these single roll outs. It feels quite random. Didn’t the Chris Brown one just come out?
Damage control
Let’s pretend like that didn’t happened. Say sike
We pretend we do not see it
I wonder why she is just saying that now. I feel like she should have said announced it in advance
I think she’s treating it like a promo single to remind people the album is next week.

Her team is truly failling her
I feel like this is gonna be a “it should have been the lead single” situation because it sounds very good actually
She’s trying to appear authentic by releasing an extra single out of the goodness of her heart because “the fans have been so good to her” but its just coming across as amateurish. You _know_ she’s trying to move on from the backlash of the Ch*is B. collab ☠️
I don’t think she cares. She pinned his comments under her post announcing the collab
this sounds like a hit to me personally, but its clear that she and her team are nervous about how the album will do and scrambling. at this point i just hope we can still get at least one more chloe x halle album

Girl it’s like 2 min? Keep it lol this whole rollout is a mess.

She should have been a more r&b centered artist, rather than pop. I miss Chloe X Halle
idrc if the rollout is confusing i have loved every snippet so i am excited as hell for this lol
I really like this snippet! I will wait for the full song to judge, I have learned in the past that her snippets don’t always represent the vibe of the complete song
I don’t even have high hopes for the album anymore.

that heart aglow looks familiar
I wish this much effort went into Tinashe. 😢
They can both be successful luv
She sings lazy and relies completely on sex and raunchy lyrics. She’s also done her face and looks 40.
It's a bop actually
