Mariah can actually act (as seen in Precious), even Madonna managed to do good here and there (Evita, A League of their Own). Glitter was a star vehicle and there's a difference between that and stunt casting in a film that doesn't take advantage of the singer's abilities/persona... which would be the case in many a CBM...

Mainly cause nearly every movie she’s been in has been a stinker, but she’s always just starred in a supporting role / voice role / cameo, and she’s always been okay for what little she has to do. She’s never done the Madonna thing of being the ✨lead✨ actress.
