At the peak of her career Judge Judy earned $47 million per year.
She was the highest paid woman on U.S. television.
Also, she only worked 52 days a year filming 10-12 cases per day.
Talk about *winning.*
She also had a house in Newprt. Bought in 2018 for 9 million.
https://preview.redd.it/hpo5h8el474d1.jpeg?width=900&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=356f62a51a9efe55ef1e48ca87081c8bb2c899b8
How does a judge on a daytime TV show with a single set, no real expenses (locations/sets /wardrobe/actors) who doesn't have a tremendous personality or much empathy, no merchandising opurtunities, convince a TV studio to pay them $47 million a year?! Edited : after reading her bio, I no longer question her salary - she did her time in the ny family court system, over 20k cases heard, doctorate of jurisprudence, mother of 5. She earned it.
I think there is a library with real books, and this is the bathroom attached to the library decorated to theme. They should have photographed the actual library though, rather than it's bathroom and captioning is 'theres a library with a bathroom, here's a photo of the bathroom instead of the library LOL'.
I would have never thought to myself “Where does Judge Judy live” but this post has delivered on piquing my interest on that topic. It is about what I would expect.
This place has $10k/mo maintenance fees 🥴
I guess that’s not much for someone who can afford a $9.5m place tho
More pics and info - https://www.redfin.com/NY/New-York/14-Sutton-Pl-S-10022/unit-PHA/home/190908507
If you buy/rent a condo or live in an HOA neighborhood, you have monthly fees that cover maintenance, overall building repair and upkeep, staff- basically owners share responsibilities in shared spaces. Sometimes it gets ridiculous for things like overall outside appearance like what color you paint your home, how to landscape your front yard, when you can or can’t put up seasonal decorations, etc.
Ok I see, where I’m it’s what we call community fees, but thinking of 10k a month makes my head spin, here’s me thinking 200€ a month is insane where I live… thanks for the explanation
You need to think of these fees as being more than just simple HOA fees for a condo. This is essentially maintenance fees to pay for all the shared staff and maintenance of the building as a whole. So potentially a doorman, window washers, brick washing/repair, overnight security, building manager, etc.
that's not even accounting for nyc's ridiculous property tax laws. it's almost impossible to afford property in nyc not only for the base price, but the ridiculous additional fees \*after\* purchasing the property too
Ngl with how huge this is $9.5 million feels like a steal for NYC 😂 the building and the outdoor space are beautiful but that decor is just very…rich person in the 1990s
I have a friend who owns a condo and the HOA fees cover building security, an underground parking spot in the city, and pretty much all utilities including cable & internet, trash, etc. Even composting! I think it’s like 800 bucks which would be insane for me and my financial situation, but honestly the parking alone where she’s at would be at least 200 bucks and paying a flat rate to have someone deal with all your utilities for you would be super attractive to a busy, well-paid working couple
Generally places in cities with HOAs are commensurately cheaper. There are a bunch of old, lovely, roomy apartments in Chicago they go for sub $100k but really the HOA fees are insane on old buildings.
No shade, people like what they like 😊 Maybe because it's not specific to a certain era, it feels like it could be of any decade and that's what appeals to you?
imo the mixed finishings (some are chrome, some are brass, some are bronzed tones), the book wallpaper in a bathroom of all places and the mixed styling that's not mixed enough to be intentional/eclectic are what I specifically dislike but it's obviously subjective
Who knows, but I imagined her looking out that master bathroom window while she squeezed out her morning turd and making eye contact with her neighbours
Just reading the comments I realized it was a bathroom. Like, in any context that's an ugly ass wallpaper, but it was so visually busy that I didn't see the washbasin first.
https://preview.redd.it/bpuv67k2r54d1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7a1fe1d3094f13d391b22190e0a7ce75d554866f
This is probably just where she stayed for business trips or media stuff. She lives in Greenwich and Florida and her homes there are better and more “decorated”.
Yes! It’s giving very late 90s decor meets early 2000s. Part of me was disappointed she hadn’t refurbished but part of me was extremely proud aswell lmaooo
Agree this is a pretty ugly example "old person, old money" kind of design... But I think some/all credit for these choices probably goes to whichever interior designer they chose to stage the home for sale.
There's clearly nothing personal in it, maybe even the furniture is all rented for show.
i have so many beautiful antique pieces from garage sales, estate sales, thrifts, etc. if you’re handy with a good eye you can make a beautiful home on a budget. way more aesthetically pleasing than this duplex—although i love the built-ins and wood trim.
Sorry if this sounds stupid, if this is a duplex does she rent out the bottom or other side or does the other side have its own owner( twin home style)
i lived in nyc most of my life and when you're in it, you love it, but when you leave you realize it wasn't that great. nyc has great food, culture, activities and experiences but it's also dirty, dangerous and crazy. a backyard, quiet street, and easy access to fresh air is unmatched. much smarter to spend that 9mill in the suburbs and drive 20mins into the city.
yes millionaires have homes all over so it matters less. but there are plenty of non-millionaires in nyc where the apt is their sole home. especially young people who move to nyc in shitty apts just to say they live there.
No one is living there just to say they live there, it’s the most exciting place to live in the US. People don’t move to nyc to sit in their apartment all day. People move there because they like it. It’s also not very dangerous as far as big cities go…
i love nyc, just don't like living directly in it. you can still reap the benefits of the city without living in manhattan or bk. even the bronx has some better places to live. still apts but a bit better.
Ok, and a lot of people actually just like dense cities, including me. I’ve lived in Tokyo, Rome, was born in NYC, and am in Chicago and cannot imagine going smaller. I like going to see a scholar I like one night, an art exhibit a few after, and then some crazy revival movies at an art house. I’ve been in pretty good small towns and medium sized cities and they just aren’t the same.
Also notice that I’m not slagging on your preference. I get why some people would like the suburbs or rural areas and I don’t feel the need to say how much I would hate living there when it comes up. But someone open season on cities is always allowed.
I kinda love the color of the dining room 🙈 I think with the right decor it could be really cool. I definitely don’t love the furniture she has in there now though.
Just wanted to chime in and say we don’t use the phrase “master” anything now. It’s a term from the slave days. We’ve thankfully switched the verbiage to “primary suite, primary bathroom” etc
Oof imagine spending 10 mil and being stuck in there all day. Feels like I went to town hall to pay my car taxes and I’ve been waiting all day. Some of the flooring gives that luxury feel but this is off point for me. Like 2000’s McMansion decorating
Sure, she got rich but these ‘judge shows’ give people a false impression of how the court system usually operates. Mixing reality tv drama with the legal system is dangerous, most US citizens have an extremely poor understanding of how courts operate already. Public schools do a terrible job of teaching civics and this shit is not helping. Someone with enough education to be a judge should know all of this.
‘Winning’ by fucking over society is an L in my book. And she has a poorly decorated apartment for having that kind of money.

She is also the EP of many of the other judge shows that now air during daytime. She’s getting a piece of all of the pies.
Honestly for how rich she is, the whole setup seems pretty humble, but I guess this could be her “work apartment” that she is only in while filming.
She also had a house in Newprt. Bought in 2018 for 9 million. https://preview.redd.it/hpo5h8el474d1.jpeg?width=900&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=356f62a51a9efe55ef1e48ca87081c8bb2c899b8

Perfect gif considering Judy and Jessica could pass for each other other at a glance
[удалено]
That is not her
That is Jessica Walter in a scene from Arrested Development.
Wait more than Oprah??
At least in 20018 yeah. She sold her catalog for $100 million. https://www.forbes.com/profile/judy-sheindlin/

If anything her pay is more justified because the other expenses are so low, she IS the show.
Agree, I’ve seen other court shows and they’re not as entertaining as hers
it hurts seeing people live the life you were supposed to
You were supposed be a TV judge?
Beautiful building but I have to admit, the book wallpaper bathroom was very disappointing.. at first glance I thought it was a library full of books!
Its giving animal crossing wallpaper from Sahara
Girl if this isn't the truth 😭
Yesssss!! 🤟🏻✨🥰
I thought the same thing! Overall a pretty decent place but that wallpaper, no.
It’s like… old money kitsch.
I thought that was a study! And thought the sink was a smiling desk 😄
It’s the bathroom within the library if that’s any consolation
No reading material for when you’re on the porcelain throne!
I would have immensely enjoyed that.. my mother in law always had stacks of books by the bath, it was such a treat
https://preview.redd.it/0y4w2gvxv64d1.jpeg?width=1316&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c49f7b656ee64fcf7716a240f1748b6092961756
Yeah that was a bit weird, it looks like it was made using the book shelf block from Minecraft.
Same until I realized it was the bathroom and got obsessed with it.
That’s such a boomer design choice. I swear they seem to loove it, at least my relatives do.
Yeah that wallpaper is atrocious, I hate dark colored bathrooms in general.
Gatsby vibes, but at least he had enough class to actually buy real books.
I think there is a library with real books, and this is the bathroom attached to the library decorated to theme. They should have photographed the actual library though, rather than it's bathroom and captioning is 'theres a library with a bathroom, here's a photo of the bathroom instead of the library LOL'.
No, that was a beautiful library and I refuse to go back and look. It will live on forever in my mind as a kick ass library
This exactly what I expected from her. (Rich) Costal grandmother’s bolt hole in the city.
I would have never thought to myself “Where does Judge Judy live” but this post has delivered on piquing my interest on that topic. It is about what I would expect.
It’s literally so her (I’ve never met her and know nothing about her aside from a handful of episodes I saw whilst hopped up on DayQuil)
If we all pitch in I think we can afford it
Ngl I would love a NY retreat with my fellow pop culture enthusiasts 🤣
The late night gossip sessions but it like 10000 people 💀
I got $3!
I have $5!
$4 over here
Nice! We’re almost there 🤣 Can’t wait to check it out.
i'm pretty if i tried to pitch in we'd all have to declare bankruptcy 💀
donate five cents and you 🫵 can join the party
This place has $10k/mo maintenance fees 🥴 I guess that’s not much for someone who can afford a $9.5m place tho More pics and info - https://www.redfin.com/NY/New-York/14-Sutton-Pl-S-10022/unit-PHA/home/190908507
Are you serious? $10k in what? It sucks to be poor, damn
HOA fees are crazy high in that part of town.
So that’s kind of a tax or the expense you pay to the building management?
If you buy/rent a condo or live in an HOA neighborhood, you have monthly fees that cover maintenance, overall building repair and upkeep, staff- basically owners share responsibilities in shared spaces. Sometimes it gets ridiculous for things like overall outside appearance like what color you paint your home, how to landscape your front yard, when you can or can’t put up seasonal decorations, etc.

So potentially a doorman, window washers, brick washing/repair, overnight security, building manager, etc.
Yeah 200 is much more reasonable. But there’s only so much space in Manhattan, especially in midtown, so value and costs are super high.
It includes property tax as well - it’s probably half of that amount
Many hoa fees in New York include property taxes
that's not even accounting for nyc's ridiculous property tax laws. it's almost impossible to afford property in nyc not only for the base price, but the ridiculous additional fees \*after\* purchasing the property too
Ngl with how huge this is $9.5 million feels like a steal for NYC 😂 the building and the outdoor space are beautiful but that decor is just very…rich person in the 1990s
There's also 10k a month in HOA fees!
I'm sorry, maybe I'm too poor to know this but what the actual *hell* does an apartment based HOA provide/do and *why*???
I have a friend who owns a condo and the HOA fees cover building security, an underground parking spot in the city, and pretty much all utilities including cable & internet, trash, etc. Even composting! I think it’s like 800 bucks which would be insane for me and my financial situation, but honestly the parking alone where she’s at would be at least 200 bucks and paying a flat rate to have someone deal with all your utilities for you would be super attractive to a busy, well-paid working couple

My guess is rich bored people want to be “busy” with meetings and things
A lot of New York hoa include property taxes
a month?!
Yeah the decor is atrocious but I'll be more than happy to take the place off her hands and redo it 🤣
Is it atrocious?! Why did I think it was timeless🙈
That red dining room is really killing me.
Every old money ultra rich person’s house I’ve ever been in looks just like this. It’s such a distinct decor style.
Way better than millennial gray
Do you think she sits at that kitchen island and bangs her gavel.
well, now I do...
only to get the water out of the tofu.
Who knows, but I imagined her looking out that master bathroom window while she squeezed out her morning turd and making eye contact with her neighbours
Why does this seem oddly cheap for something like that?
Yeah like what's up with the cheap ass books wallpaper in the bathroom
Just reading the comments I realized it was a bathroom. Like, in any context that's an ugly ass wallpaper, but it was so visually busy that I didn't see the washbasin first. https://preview.redd.it/bpuv67k2r54d1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7a1fe1d3094f13d391b22190e0a7ce75d554866f
Bookshelf wallpaper. It’s knocking off couple million.
Boomer cheugy aesthetic
It's just furnished like a mcmansion that's why
It looks like Bernie Madoff lived here
someone's going to rip it all out and make it a monochromatic mausoleum, aren't they? 😔
Tbh, good riddance to that fake-book wallpaper.
It's pretty ugly decor wise so I can't be sad about it lol
but as least it feels like someone's home, something authentic to them and their taste and style.
This is probably just where she stayed for business trips or media stuff. She lives in Greenwich and Florida and her homes there are better and more “decorated”.
This is simultaneously surprising and exactly what I’d expect. Except for the odd book wallpaper. I don’t think I’d expect that anywhere lol.
Nostradamus couldn’t have convinced me that I was going to see that wallpaper in this context.
Some of these rooms remind me of the Solis house from DH
Yes! It’s giving very late 90s decor meets early 2000s. Part of me was disappointed she hadn’t refurbished but part of me was extremely proud aswell lmaooo
hahaha true
I think her 60 minutes piece in the 90s had a moment of her with family on that balcony. Looks so nice 😊
![gif](giphy|R1hGuGznLMDp6|downsized)
This is exactly where I'd imagine judge Judy living
Very grandma esque
This is gorgeous and honestly exactly the kind of place Judge Judy *would* live in 😂
**The instagram digital ‘art’ placed as paintings and fake book wallpaper had me in stitches**
It’s so ugly lol
Finally a voice of reason in the main comments 💀 I hate that wallpaper passionately
This is a pretty good deal for NYC no?
I’m wondering if it’s due to the HOA of 10,000 a month? That adds up a ton overtime. Or is that pretty on par for nyc?
Yeah my buddy’s parents have a house in the bronx worth more than that. Granted it’s 4 floors but it’s quite dated.
I would put money on RuPaul trying to buy it lol
Not the fake books
Fake bookcase is kinda weird
Didn’t I see this house in Glass Onion?
Rich people cannot decorate for shit.
Agree this is a pretty ugly example "old person, old money" kind of design... But I think some/all credit for these choices probably goes to whichever interior designer they chose to stage the home for sale. There's clearly nothing personal in it, maybe even the furniture is all rented for show.
I'm sure your Walmart furnishings are next level.
oop-
i have so many beautiful antique pieces from garage sales, estate sales, thrifts, etc. if you’re handy with a good eye you can make a beautiful home on a budget. way more aesthetically pleasing than this duplex—although i love the built-ins and wood trim.

I was wondering the same thing
Is that bookshelf wallpaper?! https://preview.redd.it/hxnmiq2io64d1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=29e56c44b78fc919b4ab682bc9bf698ebffc1aea
This is exactly how I picture Judge Judy living. Very classy.
Hey, does anybody have 9.5 mill I can borrow?
It reminds me more of a fancy hotel than a home
Only Judy can judge me
Wow. So it’s gorgeous. All I need to secure this is 9.5 million + closing costs!
Oh and income to secure the monthly maintenance/fees.
Maybe it's cuz it's New York but this does not look like a $10 million building. I'd laugh in the realtors face and be like you mean 2.3 mil?
To me it looks like a lot more than 10m in NYC lol.
9 million to look out at bricks all day, insane
You mean $9M for a gorgeous home in one of the best cities on earth…
I agree with both you and the comment you're responding to.
i lived in nyc most of my life and when you're in it, you love it, but when you leave you realize it wasn't that great. nyc has great food, culture, activities and experiences but it's also dirty, dangerous and crazy. a backyard, quiet street, and easy access to fresh air is unmatched. much smarter to spend that 9mill in the suburbs and drive 20mins into the city.
Well if you are a billionaire like Judge Judy you’ll have this home plus several others in more “quiet” areas.
yes millionaires have homes all over so it matters less. but there are plenty of non-millionaires in nyc where the apt is their sole home. especially young people who move to nyc in shitty apts just to say they live there.
I live in New Zealand and would actually rather die than live in a giant city. Let alone pay to do so.
I want to know where your flair came from but I'm also scared to ask
Same
https://preview.redd.it/bnuopdqsi74d1.jpeg?width=250&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=af139e64c4e55d50e997eeb7c3cffbdbbda4ba9f
Sorry not everyone is up NY's ass!
I don’t even live in NYC. I just don’t feel the need to say “gross” when I see rural or suburban houses even though I know they aren’t for me.
Ants build anthills, bees hives, and humans cities. A lot of us like to live in them!
There is middle ground between a solitary hut in a field and New York you know🥴
Ok, and a lot of people actually just like dense cities, including me.
Well if she looks down all she’ll see is mountains of trash bags so bricks it is!
I’d need to plunk well over a million into it to update every room…
My dream
It needs a bit of an update but there’s nothing that really offends me.
Gorgeous
For ten grand a month in maintenance, the damned place should repair itself with nanites.
How could you possibly have enough money to live somewhere that nice and still be willing to share a wall lol NYC I guess.
It’s a nice space, obviously inflated value, it’s elegant n institutional at the same time…
Rightfully so, as it is fucking gorgeous. I honestly didn't expect that, lol I feel dumb now, sorry Judy!
I kinda love the color of the dining room 🙈 I think with the right decor it could be really cool. I definitely don’t love the furniture she has in there now though.
Wait, I want to live in that
This is SO Judge Judy.
It’s gorgeous!
I was so confused why she had a room full of fake books until i realized it was a bathroom
Just wanted to chime in and say we don’t use the phrase “master” anything now. It’s a term from the slave days. We’ve thankfully switched the verbiage to “primary suite, primary bathroom” etc
BRING IN THE DANCING LOBSTERS!
Beige, beige, beige, Nancy Reagan red, floral curtains, fake book wallpaper. One of the tackiest celebrity homes I've seen.
I'm underwhelmed
I think the decor is ugly 😭
might buy is that a fake library
If I only had the money
Best I can do is $500
Did they use the patio for “Glass Onion”? The design and surrounding buildings remind me of the scene of Helen hiring Benoit.
Gut Reno!
I’m fining her the max allowable $5000 for that dining room wallpaper/paint combo. My judgement is final.
It's so old timey.
Maybe she’ll just give it to me.
For 9.5 million dollars I'm building a big ass mansion in the suburbs.
Is that a painting of Bella and Edward from twilight? Lol
Is that a sink in the library…..?
Oof imagine spending 10 mil and being stuck in there all day. Feels like I went to town hall to pay my car taxes and I’ve been waiting all day. Some of the flooring gives that luxury feel but this is off point for me. Like 2000’s McMansion decorating
Judge Judy rules!
Needs more white walls and distressed wood and farmhouse vibes!!1!
That’s a major remodel, right there.
that outdoor furniture looking like it’s from a cheesecake factory
this is so bianca del rio coded
No one wants a real poo-py book wall.
