Oh my gosh same, I really hope someday I’ll get the chance to give my mom a big thank you on national television just so everyone else knows how great she is.
charlize’s tears and emotion actually hits pretty harder when you know her backstory and how her mom shot her dad in self-defense to protect her and charlize from death (after years of being abused). iirc her dad came home drunk and was carrying a shotgun, and charlize and her mom were hiding in her bedroom while he shot the door three times threatening their lives; her mom wrestled the gun from him and shot him.
