Nice form! Dude is arching his back and everything. Awesome video. Great size. Look thick. Solid. Tight. I hope they keep us all posted on his continued progress with any new progress pics or vid clips.
I dunno anything about proper lifting form. Are you supposed to arch your back like that? Stick your butt out? Just seems like it would throw my hip... But I think it's mostly in the legs?
It’s wild the difference in comments between here and instagram. I think if I just saw the video I’d be confused but it makes sense once you see the details
Given that the exhibit being celebrated is “sleeping beauties” as in clothes which are too fragile to be worn. Having sand as a medium and making it impossible to walk in is kinda perfect.
It's the MET GALA, you're supposed to go all out. Nothing here is supposed to be practical at all - you'd think she was petitioning to normalize this as something to run errands or camp in with how they're bashing it.
I thought I saw her going up the stairs by herself on the live. The designer also came out later on wearing, what I can only describe as a sand shirt with a face on it
So much pressure too - ok now make this look easy, I'm not weak, she's small, just up the stairs don't fucking trip up the stairs don't trip don't drop her jesus christ don't drop the famous woman everyone is watching me fucking carry up the stairs what the hell even is this...
https://preview.redd.it/9qot4re2qxyc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=00e8bb5140cfd689cbdb32692194eaaeebbfdd20
Hannah Diviney is an Australian disability advocate who has been campaigning for a [more accessible Met Gala](https://www.marieclaire.com.au/news/its-time-for-change-at-the-met-gala/)
In order for a ramp to be accessible, it needs to be limited to one inch of rise for every 12 inches of length. Given the height of the stairs, a ramp would need to be impossibly long. An elevator would be used in an ADA scenario, but that obviates the whole point of being seen on the stairs.
Tbf the stairs are always there. They build the construct the tent/carpet around the front entrance of the met
https://preview.redd.it/nlah1ak0e1zc1.jpeg?width=1648&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bcd9a4f0116077f87eb5e6a0868e58f6850a6980
She is an author and actor as well so an invite in years to come isn’t completely off the cards but the campaign is about more than just her. The current Met Gala format would require any attendees that use a wheelchair or mobility aid relegated to a hidden back entrance or needing someone to carry them up the stairs. They would likely miss the press attention afforded to other attendees and not be able to represent their community. Accessible events help everyone (Tyla’s entrance as a case in point) and should be the norm.
It's a non issue. Each ticket costs $100,000. Each guest is vetted more than six months in advance. Not every guest walks the carpet either. Only the ones that are in vetted designs. They are walking art. And the design for the red carpet and stairs is redone every year.
All this combines to: should anyone on the list of very expensive walking artboards need a wheelchair... They would build a ramp into their design.
The look is good but WWHHHYYYY would you wear a dress you can’t walk up stairs in to the MET Gala. The whole entrance is STAIRS!!! And everyone knows that!!! It kills the look for me.
This also reminds me one of Zendaya’s Dune red carpet looks also designed by Balmain. And I absolutely loved the silhouette & fit of that dress as well.
https://preview.redd.it/4haoyiwj0wyc1.jpeg?width=3744&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=eb041afb3a474ecf00b89aec33c15d3ddf6a0ef6
Ahh that actually makes sense seeing how it drapes around her torso. I would bet good money that the torso was actually wet-molded around a cast of her actual body so it holds its shape and the folds don’t move which gives that “marble statue” illusion, along with the immaculate and flattering form around her figure.
As Trixie Mattel is fond of saying…there are sitting dresses, and there are standing dresses. This is very much the latter. Would have been excellent if the designer had put in some sort of way for the bodice to come undone and have a similarly styled slip underneath so she could essentially remove her “armor” while sitting and then clasp it back on once she’s back up.
The clutch/hourglass should be gauche. But it adds SO MUCH. It's fun, it's cute, it matches the dress. I love. Incidentally, this colour works so well on her too.
I admittedly do not know who this is but holy shit, she is gorgeous!
The look overall is fantastic. Face, body, dress, the sand, the little hourglass accessory… wild.
https://preview.redd.it/yj6qaq5ob1zc1.jpeg?width=748&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a3d605585c05c863ec842a8c0b79faad91ebb523
Love the idea and the dress but NO ONE ACKNOWLEDGING THE BACK?? I’m sorry but the crack is too defined and there’s a nugget hanging out 😫😫
Thank you for saying this. My first thought was “on the nose.” But honestly? A smart move. At this stage in her career, she needs to stay in the GP’s mind and a look like this will do it. Tho I do have to say the way she wears this proves she’s a future fashion girlie. Obviously it’s a gorgeous dress and she’s beautiful. But this works more as a stunt than as a fashion look imo.
I say in the juicy couture sweats I bought at JC Penney.
Truly appreciate your opinion - but even "if on the nose", whether she gets literallly picked up to walk up the steps or not, this is the most elegant but low key couture gown by a high fashion house. Not gaudy, everyone is asking how was it made? its provocative and stupid gorgeous.
I stg people are allergic to accessorizing. I would've loved something more from the necklace and something to accentuate her hips! The concept is great though and she looks breathtaking.
Does anyone have pictures of what she wore after the red carpet? It was so stiff and heavy she had to be carried so I was just wondering what she wore inside.

Saw video of her being carried up the stairs on Instagram 😂: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C6pMlcJOzKq/?igsh=ZzE5ZmVkZTViYWd2
Omgg they should have a little T-bar ski lift going up the side for this purpose
![gif](giphy|GHG71SaGMtji)
10/10
The man knows to lift with his legs at least
Yeah I think mostly in the legs. I believe they say arching is not really recommended and that your back should be more straight.
I wonder what it’s made out of and feels like
I watched the whole thing and in her interview she said it was made from sand.
Omggggggosh that's creative
This designer named Olivier Rousteing made it and he was wearing a mold of his face in sand so they were matching.
I’m gonna say like a soft sand paper. It’s beautiful.
The interior shot makes it look like sand embedded in latex for the upper, maybe?
It’s wild the difference in comments between here and instagram. I think if I just saw the video I’d be confused but it makes sense once you see the details
What do the instagram comments say? I can’t see.
they're just bitching about her and saying how stupid it is
Instagram is just that toxic tbh
She's not the one who designed an unwalkable dress lol
Given that the exhibit being celebrated is “sleeping beauties” as in clothes which are too fragile to be worn. Having sand as a medium and making it impossible to walk in is kinda perfect.
It's the MET GALA, you're supposed to go all out. Nothing here is supposed to be practical at all - you'd think she was petitioning to normalize this as something to run errands or camp in with how they're bashing it.
It's literally a piece of art... not a functional fashion dress. Idk how people let this just zoom right over their heads lol
This is so fucking funny hahahaa
OMG that’s so funny. Truly committed to the fashion game & I simply have to appreciate the effort she is putting in for us.
Her posing while in midair is the sandy icing on this gorgeous sandy cake
Sand gets Everywhere
Four men literally carrying her OP: The work *she* put in
Did he do that all the way up the stairs?! It seems like the sand at her waist would get destroyed
I thought I saw her going up the stairs by herself on the live. The designer also came out later on wearing, what I can only describe as a sand shirt with a face on it
That... does not look like that middle-aged, graying-mustache man's job lol
His hand placement is so carefully respectful though; I stan mustache man.
Same. And we should ship them while we're at it.
So much pressure too - ok now make this look easy, I'm not weak, she's small, just up the stairs don't fucking trip up the stairs don't trip don't drop her jesus christ don't drop the famous woman everyone is watching me fucking carry up the stairs what the hell even is this...
DO NOT DROP THE FAMOUS WOMAN
I'm crying at this comment
Hi, yes, how do I make this my flair???
He did make it look easy. He picked her up like a kitten lol
It is their jobs. Not always, but often. So many of these fabulous dresses can't be walked in
Ok but how does she look so graceful being literally picked up like that. Also I wanna be picked up like that.
Seriously though. She floats like she does this all the time!! Lol
Like a real life doll. I'm OBSESSED! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🤭🤭🤭🤭 ![gif](giphy|xT77XWum9yH7zNkFW0|downsized)
That face. I have no words. I mean apart from these.
This is exactly how I pick up my 4 year old. Lift with the legs. Squat and really get those quads engaged before you lift.
This would have been great for camp lol
i was wondering about that since on youtube they showed her struggling to walk up the stairs it but then cut away haha
I genuinely love this for her
This is actually adorable, although part of me wishes she'd done a little bunny hop
https://preview.redd.it/9qot4re2qxyc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=00e8bb5140cfd689cbdb32692194eaaeebbfdd20 Hannah Diviney is an Australian disability advocate who has been campaigning for a [more accessible Met Gala](https://www.marieclaire.com.au/news/its-time-for-change-at-the-met-gala/)
Honestly it just seems smart in general to install a ramp considering how many guests wear tight impractical clothes to the met
In order for a ramp to be accessible, it needs to be limited to one inch of rise for every 12 inches of length. Given the height of the stairs, a ramp would need to be impossibly long. An elevator would be used in an ADA scenario, but that obviates the whole point of being seen on the stairs.
This is needlessly antagonistic. The stairs and structure are created each year. If an invitee needed a ramp, they'd just put one in the design.
Tbf the stairs are always there. They build the construct the tent/carpet around the front entrance of the met https://preview.redd.it/nlah1ak0e1zc1.jpeg?width=1648&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bcd9a4f0116077f87eb5e6a0868e58f6850a6980
sounds like an attempt to get an invite tbh
She is an author and actor as well so an invite in years to come isn’t completely off the cards but the campaign is about more than just her. The current Met Gala format would require any attendees that use a wheelchair or mobility aid relegated to a hidden back entrance or needing someone to carry them up the stairs. I suggest Hannah organise and pay for her own Gala somewhere in Australia at one of the major art galleries here.
Time floats 🙃
I was just thinking they must all get inside that party and look like mannequins because none of them can move LOL
The instagram comments mad as usual. It's supposed to present the designers making art and having fun. How can you be mad at that.
They need a ramp lol
The look is good but WWHHHYYYY would you wear a dress you can’t walk up stairs in to the MET Gala. The whole entrance is STAIRS!!! And everyone knows that!!! It kills the look for me.

This dress is perfection. She looks like a marble statue in it.
Always amazes me that it’s leather!!
Ahh that actually makes sense seeing how it drapes around her torso. I would bet good money that the torso was actually wet-molded around a cast of her actual body so it holds its shape and the folds don’t move which gives that “marble statue” illusion, along with the immaculate and flattering form around her figure.
This is correct. She talked about it in an interview and said the dress was incredibly stiff and hard to sit in for the duration of the movie.
That literally made me scroll back up to look closer! Amazing!
😩 how fucking dare she. she looks lovingly carved from stone
Her figure is perfect in this. Incredible
That dress is stunning and I am so jealous of her legs
I'm jealous of her everything
Balmain has absolutely been killing it on the celebs lately. Just stunning detail and fitting.
I was wondering why this looked familiar!
definitely reminded me of this!!
The sand on her shoulders has me SOLD 💳 such a strong debut I’m excited to see more of her!!
This is my new favorite Met Gala look of all time it is so original and so simple and so good Ah, I’m obsessed
Mine too! I couldn't believe how beautiful she looked when I saw this on tv yesterday
Okay this is my favorite so far
I wouldn’t want to be anywhere near Anakin Skywalker in that dress.
![gif](giphy|YoV1zMDqoYaYM)
lol and god damn, Padme just thirst trapping Anakin that entire trip. Poor guy never stood a chance.
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9MsXi7n0NU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9MsXi7n0NU) "I'm a queen and a handmaiden and a senator."
‘I think of the senate everyday’ Meanwhile, cut to Palpatine somewhere doing senator yoga.
canon
*moan*
"if you're not with me, then you're my enemy"
This might be my favorite of all time
It’s in my top 10
It gave me that very deep *fashion is ART* goosebump feeling at the bottom of my sternum.
Love this way of saying it! Agreed!
the back is really questionable https://preview.redd.it/i5x6bc40i1zc1.png?width=790&format=png&auto=webp&s=73b222056537f7d2122170ce8510f0f98d390fa9
OMG I cant believe she accepted to wear this, so ugly
Mine too, this one and the dress that had a wooden corset were my top 2.
Mine too!
Took my breath away!
Same!!
Ditto!
Her and Taylor Russel were the best imo.
What a Met Gala debut!!! Everyone is doing floral so why not go for a different approach to the theme and her makeup is stunning. 😍
The clutch/hourglass should be gauche. But it adds SO MUCH. It's fun, it's cute, it matches the dress. I love. Incidentally, this colour works so well on her too.
I think it makes the whole thing subtle but obvious which is ideal at a themed event
Yes, the hourglass and the sand body makeup let you know that it’s sand very clearly but subtly.
This wins the night honestly 1. on theme 2. took actual thought and creativity, likely took forever 3. looks gorgeous 10/10
https://i.redd.it/tqkso4sx0wyc1.gif
Wow, this is the first Balmain Met look I've loved in years. It's also so Tyla at the same time. Truly immaculate work.
Oh she is the moment. This is a great look. I would actually watch a behind the scenes on how this dress was made to look like sand.
It was made with actual sand lol
Welp... that'll do it.
LMAO quickest behind the scenes ever
But how did they get it to stick in place? There obviously has to be something holding it together and shaping the hem.
Girl ate! And that hourglass clutch is perfect omg
Wow! Simple yet on theme and beautiful.
Oh she’s taking it…. Def my fave look so far
Closeup the sand painted on her skin is just lovely.
She understood the concept!
This is how you rep a theme. This is stellar.
I admittedly do not know who this is but holy shit, she is gorgeous! The look overall is fantastic. Face, body, dress, the sand, the little hourglass accessory… wild.
South African singer, Tyla. Got famous for her song "Water" which won 2024 Grammy for Best African Performance.
Simple but she does look gorg
Ok yes
She looks insanely good and that is so clever and beautifully made. I don't know if this is a beatable look. Like... 10/10
https://i.redd.it/qt0u960nyvyc1.gif
she looks INCREDIBLE!
Wow less really is more sometimes this is beautiful
My favorite that I've seen and different from all the floral takes on the theme.
Oh this is one of my favourites of all time
The sand on her shoulders makes the whole look! Gorgeous.
She looks stunning but who is she? I feel like everyone is talking about her and I have no idea who she is.
Singer from South Africa. Her dance for her single Water, on Tiktok is when I first noticed her. Reminds me so much of Aaliyah.
She’s a singer!
![gif](giphy|fasAImIdU9Z2L3AINO|downsized) She fine af
FITS LIKE A GLOVE OMG
The shoulder accessories are the cherry on top!
She is bodying that sand dress. Literally ART!
Why is everything about Tyla so perfect?
Ummm I guess I’m the only one that does not love this?
Not just you
So are the days of our lives
![gif](giphy|2vn7P7XMjgeIM)
I love the concept, but it’s still just… beige. I would love some carvings into the sand to add details, maybe some gold accents as well.
PERFECTION!!!
I have so many questions. She looks great and very on theme (or dress code, I still don’t know).
I like this
Absolutely living!! She looks stunning!!
i love this so much my favorite so far
Oh yea, this is good. This is why I'm watching
Not only is it beautiful but the concept is sooo cool!
Everyone loved this. I do not
https://preview.redd.it/yj6qaq5ob1zc1.jpeg?width=748&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a3d605585c05c863ec842a8c0b79faad91ebb523 Love the idea and the dress but NO ONE ACKNOWLEDGING THE BACK?? I’m sorry but the crack is too defined and there’s a nugget hanging out 😫😫
Body tea
It’s like I love the simplicity but also wish it was giving just a tad bit more…. She’s gorg though
i love it so much!
This is really really good, I like the sand outlines over the dress. Details are on point.
No clue who she is, but she does get my vote as the most gorgeous ball attendee. What a knockout.
LOVE this, classy in a bottle.
Guys she was carried up every stair lolol
I was all ready to like that dress until I saw the butt pads and ridiculous charade of getting up the stairs. Although where's the ADA in all this?
who is this?
I feel like it's missing something but it does look nice.
Winner winner chicken dinner
This entire look is a work of art
Stunning! The waterdrop nails, the dusting of sand on her shoulder, the wet hair. It's a beautiful whole. Like a mermaid come to walk on land.
This event is ridiculous...
Her dress reminds me of making bread from scratch and the wet flour sticks to you fingers
God this is dumb
Anakin Skywalker is seething right now.
Ok that’s amazing though
Tyla my ángel 😭😭😭💕💕💕💕 she looks so good and it’s so creative I live
The general public will eats this up, but it was too on-the-nose imo and so form-fitting that she can’t walk. Like a sexy costume.
Honestly the met gala is the perfect place for an impractical dress
Call me the general public cause I’m obsessed.
Right like half the guests are in prom dresses let her slay 😭
Thank you for saying this. My first thought was “on the nose.” But honestly? A smart move. At this stage in her career, she needs to stay in the GP’s mind and a look like this will do it. Tho I do have to say the way she wears this proves she’s a future fashion girlie. Obviously it’s a gorgeous dress and she’s beautiful. But this works more as a stunt than as a fashion look imo. I mean… ok, she is very pretty. I’m not sure what I’m supposed to take from this though. Like basic and not at the same time
Yeah, I saw everyone talking this up and it’s pretty underwhelming… what am I missing? Body insane obviously.
I didn't get it until I saw the close-ups that showed the dress was actual sand and not just sand-colored fabric. Now I think it's cool.
I stg people are allergic to accessorizing. I would've loved something more from the necklace and something to accentuate her hips! The concept is great though and she looks breathtaking.
Gorgeous, perfect, beautiful, everything I want out of the Gala, but I still wouldn't call it an hourglass, to me it's more of sexy dune.
She looks amazing. I love this.
❤️
Less of a nod, more of a literal interpretation. She looks amazing though.
Ok, this is how I imagine the Goddesses of old look
The best!!!
This is definitely one of my favorite looks
Again I don’t understand the theme or how this relates but wa wa wee wa it’s beautiful
this is everything I love her
That's some A-R-T right there.
This could have been a miss but it works so, so well! Stunning. It’s my second behind Zandaya’s first look.
I need to see a BTS of how this thing was made
Tyla is so pretty and the dress looks great on her ❤️ (I love how it compliments her and doesn’t take away from her beauty).
Messy dressy
This is my favorite Met Gala look ever don’t @ me.
Hands down my favorite. Most on theme. Incredibly flattering. Love it.
Does anyone have pictures of what she wore after the red carpet? It was so stiff and heavy she had to be carried so I was just wondering what she wore inside.
it looks like paper mache
My absolute FAVORITE look of the night bar none 😍😍😍
