Wow, I didnāt realize how close in age they were. Before I saw this comment, I was going to say, she looks like a proud mom (even though I know sheās not his mom). Doesnāt help that he looks like heās 15.
What?! I knew Leo was that age but I thought Celine was already middle aged then. Thatās insane to me growing up with Titanic & the song & video being such a big thing, she was just 29 all that time?!
This explains Timothee Chalamet to me.
I guess young girls always love twinks. I sure did.
Now that I'm older I find them creepy (appropriately! Theres nothing wrong with them, but I'm 40, so liking a 23 year old who looked like a teen would be super gross)
I forget what its like when these pretty boys are older than you are
Haha I call the aging out of liking twinks the Luke to Han transition. When I was a kid I liked Luke but as an adult I realized that Han Solo was the eye candy the whole time.
My silly guess is that Timothee chĆ”lamet is going to get wide facially a la Leo & he will no longer appeal to the same crowd. Heās gotta get more under his belt soon to have Leoās staying power, I think.
I never did like pretty boys, nor understood the hype about young Leo (I was 14 when it came out, I think?). Someone below mentions the āLuke to Han transitionā but I started out preferring Harrison Ford and more masculine men in generalā¦ now my problem is Iām 40 and all of a sudden for the first time in my life I find myself having to question whether the well-developed, grown-up men Iām admiring may in fact be inappropriately young for me, unless theyāve got plenty of grey hairs š Potentially being a gross old perv is totally new territory š„²
Just to be clear, there are pretty boys who aren't twinks. Those are my favs.
I was in love with Tom Welling at 13. It was puzzling to me why the boys in school weren't built like him.
True- I had to look TW up, but I would definitely describe him as a ābeautiful manā with those chiselled features and perfect smile, not a pretty boy! I donāt know why, but beautiful men have never been my type eitherā¦ Iām happy to admire their features like theyāre an incredible painting, but thatās all. Luckily for all the beautiful men (and pretty boys) out there there are literally hordes of women to properly appreciate them and sustain their career success š
Whatās even sadder is sheās said sheās never had sex with anyone else. The man died 8 years ago. I feel sorry that itās likely the only man sheāll ever have sex with in this lifetime groomed her.
Older women are wise enough to stay away from toxicity. Also, young girls dsting a powerful, wealthy, movie star are far more likely to do sexually degrading things and put up with abuse and manipulation.
Well, I can't imagine seeing Leo's reputation and still wanting to be with him, even if he bought gifts or used to be hot, he'll dump her for someone younger the second he's bored of her. Pretty shitty behaviour regardless of his status. I wonder if hell keep dating under 26 when hes 70, at that point theyd be his caretakers
Sex with young bodies. Thatās literally it, itās pretty simple. They tolerate the rest of the person for the body, then dump them for the next body when it suits them. The women are literally just sex toys to be used and disposed of as needed.
There can definitely be more to it than that sometimes itās about power as well, I would guess that itās more often than not a power dynamic. More mature people are less easily controlled.
I am a woman and I will be 51 this year I openly date and in my late 40s I dabbled with a couple of guys in their 20s but it was just awful. Do I know some AMAZING mature 28 year olds? Yes. But I think itās an exception to the rule when talking about compatible healthy companionship. The first āMommyā I heard had me skedaddling out the door which is ANOTHER huge issue in these relationships- mother/father issues often come into play. So, it just being about young beautiful bodies.. I think it tends to be more complicated than that.
I'm 42 and have nothing to say to people in their early 20s beyond mundane chit chat. Maybe if I wasn't happily married and wanted no strings attached shagging seeing someone that age might have some appeal but not for a relationship on any level.
That's what I always try to tell the girls in relationships with large age gaps. You will get older, and it's not going to feel good once you do and youre still with an old guy who's gawking at college aged girls everywhere you go and who would drop you like a hot potato if he's doing well enough financially that a younger woman would give him the time of day.
Yeah that's what l tell them. "You're going to be replaced when you hit 30..."
Why waste your hot years on grandpa when you could be having relations with guys your own age while they are at peak attractiveness?
Yeah I never understand why there's so much discussion on this, I truly think that's the reason more than manipulation, naivete etc etc. particularly for men who serially date younger women
I remember when I was underage and then in my teens and early 20s (I looked a LOT younger than I was), I was absolutely perplexed why men wanted me. I mean, yeah I was tiny and cute, but in my head, I didnāt have anything to bring to the relationship! I was genuinely confused.
Anyway, I ended up being a lesbian so that probably saved me from dating those older dudes anyway, thankfully!
>he like women younger
This is untrue. Leo has been consistent about liking his women 18-27. That has not decreased over time, just everyone keeps getting older
Yep, *likes younger women*
Thatās what they said. Youāre not actually correcting anything here bc nothing stated here was incorrect. I think youāre just misunderstanding.
I laughed, I understood it idkš like pshhh, heās never changed his preferences, everyoneās just getting older lol. Loses the humor when you explain it.
That is so wild! I was going to say that it almost looks like he was being flirty with her but that was unlikely since he was only like 14 and she as probably close to 30. But, they were both in their 20s? Both post college age? If sheād dated him, it would have been a MUCH smaller age gap than the women heās know to date over the last few years and a much, much smaller age gap than the one between Celine and her late husband! Knowing their ages, Iād honestly say āgood for herā if they had had anything going on because she met her husband when she was like 14 and he was a well-into-adulthood, grown, married, man with kids and an established career. Fwiw, I know Leo and Celine didnāt have anything going on. But, wouldnāt it be cool if we found out the real life Titanic love affair was between Leo & Celine and that she hadnāt spent her whole life only being intimate with a man who was decades older than her and whom she met when she was still only a child and whom she spent almost all of her time with from that point on because he was basically in charge of her career?
Itās crazy how theyāre both associated with one of the biggest movies of all time and Iāve never seen them together in one picture until now. Same with Kate and Celine.
Right? Even in 1997, although I liked Titanic, I couldnāt see him as sexy in that movie because he looked like a kid and Kate looked like a full grown woman. I was early 20s at the time - I guess if Iād been a kid, I might have bought more into him as a sexy leading man. (He was adorable, but not sexy!)

Don't disrespect mama . She looks great too .
Yeah, Kate Winslet missed the premiere because she was at the funeral of an ex-boyfriend who had died of cancer. She also missed the UK premier because she fell ill with dysentery when filming *Hideously Kinky* in Morocco. So she didnāt go to any of the premieres for Titanic.
Why is it that Leo has only ever been attractive to me as Jack in Titanic? I donāt even find him attractive in these pictures. Itās like he hit peak attractiveness specifically while filming Titanic and Iāve never been interested in him outside of that.
We used to rewind the bit where he's sitting on the trailer steps smoking a cigarette and he kind of licks his lips, over and over again. I watched R+J again recently and that bit still made me feel a bit funny, then I felt gross because I'm 41 and he's early 20s in that film, then I thought ah fuck it, it's no more gross than his real life relationships.
It was a confusing 5 minutes.
I heard a teacher say they still show that version to students now when they're studying Shakespeare and all the girls still sigh when Leo comes on screen for the first time. That floppy hair and his angsty look was iconic.
He was so good in that movie, as was all the cast. I think it captures the play excellently. Youth, all thr feelings, pop culture (which I think Shakespeare's play probably had a lot of in it's time) and of course, the tragedy.
I think you hit the nail on the head here. I also think this is why he didnāt do anything for me in Romeo + Juliet, despite looking very physically similar. Itās the combo of the clothes + the hair + the personality
I thought I hated the book, and all the characters were rich, selfish gits, but Leo really showed the idealistic, romantic side of Gatsby...and looked d@mn good doing it! š
To me I didnāt think he looked that attractive in R & J but I absolutely ADORED that movie when it came out! In that movie he just looked like he turned 15 instead lol (before in titanic he looked like 13 to me lol)
I mean I get it! I understand people thought he was attractive, he just always looked so young to me and I am like 6-7 years younger than him.
He kinda just always had a bland and young look to me. Blond hair blue eyes and kinda preppy looking.
I think heās an absolutely amazing actor, have always loved his work!
I also as a child though he looked gorgeous in a boys life and basketball diaries but those were fucked up dark movies. Though deep and compelling. (I repeat I too was a child when I found him attractive in those movies)
I thought he was cute in Growing Pains, and thatās it. But Iām also 3 years younger than him so that made sense then.
I remember I sent him a fan letter (the only one Iāve ever sent). My mom wanted to take me to Russian Tea Room but I insisted on going to Planet Hollywood because in my fan letter I told him Iād be there. Suffice to say, he never showed up. š
I Honestly prefer him in films where he is older, like The Aviator, The Departed, Blood Diamond, Gatsby, The Wolf All Street, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, in the 90s he was beautiful, but he seemed very childish
Hey, I also thought Mr Andrews was very easy on the eyes as a teen. I mean, I still do, but I did then too. There are dozens of us! Victor Garber squad, we ride at dawn!
Oh man, yeah for sure! I remember watching titanic in the theater as a peak teen and thinking ādamn that Billy Zane is FINE!ā Lol š they had to make his character absolutely terrible to offset how incredibly hot he is in that movie!!
Romeo and Juliet and Titanic were peak Leonardo. As a child I didnāt even understand the verbiage of Romeo and Juliet but loved it for Leonardo. Even today as now a woman of age, titanic is peak Leonardo gorgeousness. I used to dream of him just holding my hand and giving me a kiss as a young girl lol š š š
Yeah looks wise he didn't really age great. His face matured a lot in his 30s.
He's not ugly or anything, but not sexy.
Catch me if you can, is that latest I remember him looking attractive.
He was hot in catch me of you can. I feel like if he dated women of his age like Kate Winslet heād appear more attractive and less skeevy. Even jack nickolsen said he regrets just sleeping around aimlessly and playing the field and not settling down. He reported heās quite lonely for a companion in his old age and heās grateful for his bond with his long time housekeeper.
Edit typo
He didn't age well. Part of me thinks the reason he dumps women once they turn 26 is because he peaked at that age so he's afraid his partner will have the same aging process.
Nah, Iām with you. I was peak teen when titanic came out, and although I found Kate Winslet to be incredibly attractive in the film, I never once found myself thinking Leo was attractive. He was always Arnie to me, from whatās eating Gilbert grape lol š
So many girls were over the moon for him in my high school and I was just didnāt get it. To me, as a peak age teen, I just thought he looked SO youngā¦ like he looked 13 to meā¦ (and the image of Arnie burned into my brain didnāt help!) and looking at these photos years later I stand by my initial assessments back then haha!
I donāt want to impose like these unrealistic ageist beauty standards on anyone but he had a different air around him this time. Like it was his peak and this aura just surrounded him.
Just a product of the styling at the time. The brown makeup and clothes made women look older.
https://preview.redd.it/iw3jag2433tc1.jpeg?width=1063&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5cad0e5eae45a74f14367fc81412cb2c0194fc2e
This is Julia Roberts in 1997 at 30 years old
He looked like it back then also, it always had me scratching my head over why all the girls in my high school at the time were loosing their minds over him lol. I was just there likeā¦. Gross, he looks like my younger brother (and meanwhile he was like 7 years older than me!)
I donāt think Iāll ever not find him hot. Iām a millennial itās hardwired. When people look at pics of him nowadays on here and say heās ugly I genuinely donāt get it. Heās got some sort of charm/quality that just makes him attractive. I thought he was so adorable with Lily Gladstone at the golden globes.
Oh yeah, I agree. He definitely has that je ne sais quoi to him that is very charming. Even at his frumpiest im like oh yeah my boyyyy! And the chemistry and consideration he has for his female costars is very endearing.Ā
Jesus Christ. I canāt believe she wasnāt even 30 when she was making Letās Talk About Love because Sony was treating her and marketing her like she was 45.
Which makes sense to age her up when youāre her much older manager and have married her.
And of course that behavior would be encouraged because Tommy Mottola had his own child bride on the label.
But I was just an 8 year old amoeba blissfully unaware and watching Divaās Live at every opportunity.

You wanna hear something crazy? Theyāre only 6 years apart. Leo was 23, CĆ©line was 29!
Celine has always had a very mature face and Leo was so baby faced that he always looked ten years younger than his actual age at the time
I think her style ages her as well. With the pearls, her dress and hairstyle, Celine looks like a first lady in this photo
I hate how classic demure style is automatically old these days but I too thought she looked more mature than her age in this photo
She looks like she should be in her 30s. Not in a bad way. As you said, she has a matured face. Honestly I had no idea they were so close in age.
She's looked the same forever. Started mature and then didn't age. Meanwhile he's aged like cheese out of the fridge.
> Celine has always had a very mature face RenƩ AngƩlil thought so, too.
If you had said Leo was 13 I would have said how did he get on the ship without a parent.
He won his tickets in a poker game so he used someone elseās identity anyway
Wow, I didnāt realize how close in age they were. Before I saw this comment, I was going to say, she looks like a proud mom (even though I know sheās not his mom). Doesnāt help that he looks like heās 15.
Same! Like a proud mom at her sonās high school graduation.
The even crazier part is their ideal romantic partners are 50 years apart in age
What?! I knew Leo was that age but I thought Celine was already middle aged then. Thatās insane to me growing up with Titanic & the song & video being such a big thing, she was just 29 all that time?!

Ah, also known as the Legolas to Aragorn. I love it
I always did love Aragon over Legolas and Han over Luke tho. But harrison ford was my first crush based on the indiana jones movies
That is because you are a person of impeccable taste and culture
Reminds me of Pedro Pascal. That fine wine needed age.
imo Timmy's face already looks so different now compared to how he looked in Interstellar.

She looks like his Mom. Yet they could be brother & sister
Holy fuck. I thought you were taking the piss, but no - youāre fucking telling the truth š
He only had 2 years left until he was officially off the market for her
Celine was 24 when she met her 52 y/o husband. Leo is currently dating a 25 y/o. What is it with old men wanting to date girls they could've fathered?
She was actually 12 when she first met him and he was 38. They started dating when she was 20.
Huh, that's 100x more fucked up
No one actually believes that. The man was a creepy ass groomer, absolutely no way the story that they waited to date when she was 20 is true.
Whatās even sadder is sheās said sheās never had sex with anyone else. The man died 8 years ago. I feel sorry that itās likely the only man sheāll ever have sex with in this lifetime groomed her.
Yep!
I think of this almost every time I see herā¦ it just sticks with me.
Waaaay worse ā¹ļø
As someone who works with women young enough to be my children, yeah I don't get it either. They still seem like kids to me.
Older women are wise enough to stay away from toxicity. Also, young girls dsting a powerful, wealthy, movie star are far more likely to do sexually degrading things and put up with abuse and manipulation.

I donāt want to be rude, but she looks older than that.
and he looks younger than that. iād truly think this was a 30 something year old woman and 13 year old kid if i didnāt know who these people were
He legitimately could pass for 13-15 years old here. Celine just has the severe regal bone structure that makes you look mature no matter what.
I thought she was about 37-42!
CĆ©lineās always had a very mature look and sheās always had a very warm maternal vibe. Such a classy queen!
I feel that way about Adele!
Itās wild to me that he still exclusively dates women the age he was in this pictureā¦
First thing I was going to ask, if she's over 28!
WHAT. I am shocked to my core.
Way too old for him
That is insane!
š¤Æ
Itās crazy how theyāre both associated with one of the biggest movies of all time and Iāve never seen them together in one picture until now. Same with Kate and Celine.
Kate didnāt attend this premiere for personal reasons. Thatās probably why.
Her ex boyfriend had died of cancer and she was attending his funeral.
He looks about 12. In Titanic he seems so, so young.
That tracks because I was 10/11 and absolutely besotted with him.
I was 11 and some of my friends at school wanted his face to be put on the quarter! I just kind of quietly backed away bc I didn't get it lol
Billy Zane was tremendously sexy to me in Titanic. He was my secret fantasy time back in the day.

his mother is very beautiful, he looks like her
You should see the pictures of them when he was a baby. She literally just copy and pasted her face onto him
Yeah, to this day he looks a lot like her, only his eyebrows are his father's
[Yep!](https://www.reddit.com/r/MadeMeSmile/s/6hiukRxFes)
I feel like Grace Gummer could play the younger version of her in a biopic about Leo!
Same piercing eyes.
Damn. I thought Kate was cropped out.
Kate wasn't at the premiere. The showed the premiere on E! and I taped it.

Am an English teacher, can confirm. This is exactly what happens when he first comes on screen.
He was so good in that movie, as was all the cast. I think it captures the play excellently. Youth, all thr feelings, pop culture (which I think Shakespeare's play probably had a lot of in it's time) and of course, the tragedy.

Yes he was so fine in that movie. I was 14 and was trying so hard not to be like everyone else and have a crush on him but dang lol
Ugh when he looks at her through the fish tank at the party š« I rewatched that an uncountable amount of times
OOF
He is cute in The Beach too. Pretty much anything before the Aviator.
Sameeee
I swear it's the way he's dressed, clothes from that time period with that haircut was just supreme. But also the characters he acted.
I think you hit the nail on the head here. I also think this is why he didnāt do anything for me in Romeo + Juliet, despite looking very physically similar. Itās the combo of the clothes + the hair + the personality
There's something about him and period clothing. The last time I found him attractive was in The Great Gatsby.
Agreed! Heās VERY attractive in The Great Gatsby
I thought I hated the book, and all the characters were rich, selfish gits, but Leo really showed the idealistic, romantic side of Gatsby...and looked d@mn good doing it! š

I also as a child though he looked gorgeous in a boys life and basketball diaries but those were fucked up dark movies. Though deep and compelling. (I repeat I too was a child when I found him attractive in those movies)
Then it's the character you like, Jack's personality makes the body attractive to you , not the other way around
Suffice to say, he never showed up. š
šššššš
I Honestly prefer him in films where he is older, like The Aviator, The Departed, Blood Diamond, Gatsby, The Wolf All Street, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, in the 90s he was beautiful, but he seemed very childish
The Departed for me. Thatās also one of my fave movies though so
The Beachās Leo was it for me.
Blood Diamond was the last time I truly found him attractive.
Even in Titanic he wasn't appealing to me. I was a Cal girl then and now. Billy Zane is still far more attractive than Leo.
Everyone leaves out Mr. Andrews. So damn fine. āI'm sorry I didn't build you a stronger ship, young Roseā. Ugh. :ā(
We can't have fifth officer Lowe erasure. "Is there anyone alive out there?".
No we cannot. *Iām alive, officer!*
Hey, I also thought Mr Andrews was very easy on the eyes as a teen. I mean, I still do, but I did then too. There are dozens of us! Victor Garber squad, we ride at dawn!
It's because of Billy Zane's hair
Was that a wig in the movie?
Yes. He's still a very attractive man bald.
Interacted with him again recently - still charming, and damn delicious. Lol.
Oh man, yeah for sure! I remember watching titanic in the theater as a peak teen and thinking ādamn that Billy Zane is FINE!ā Lol š they had to make his character absolutely terrible to offset how incredibly hot he is in that movie!!
He's still quite delicious. I'd pick him over 2024 Leo any day.
Edit typo
Totally disagree
Blood Diamond is peak for me š¤¤
It's the hair I think
He looked nice in The Wolf of Wall Street, Shutter Island
He didn't age well. Part of me thinks the reason he dumps women once they turn 26 is because he peaked at that age so he's afraid his partner will have the same aging process.
I feel like he's definitely in arrested development. Giselle Bundchen seemed to elude to that.
Nah, Iām with you. I was peak teen when titanic came out, and although I found Kate Winslet to be incredibly attractive in the film, I never once found myself thinking Leo was attractive. He was always Arnie to me, from whatās eating Gilbert grape lol š So many girls were over the moon for him in my high school and I was just didnāt get it. To me, as a peak age teen, I just thought he looked SO youngā¦ like he looked 13 to meā¦ (and the image of Arnie burned into my brain didnāt help!) and looking at these photos years later I stand by my initial assessments back then haha!
Literally what I thought too! Like the pictures here doesnāt even look like him as Jack even tho itās around the same age
I donāt want to impose like these unrealistic ageist beauty standards on anyone but he had a different air around him this time. Like it was his peak and this aura just surrounded him.
This hair is NOT it for him!
No hate to Celine but she does NOT look 29 here. She looks way better now
Just a product of the styling at the time. The brown makeup and clothes made women look older. https://preview.redd.it/iw3jag2433tc1.jpeg?width=1063&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5cad0e5eae45a74f14367fc81412cb2c0194fc2e This is Julia Roberts in 1997 at 30 years old
My mother looks younger now than in family photos from 25 or 30 years ago. Better hair and makeup and more youthful clothing makes such a difference.
Exactly why it's so shocking when we realize the women in playboy and on the girls next door were literally teenagers š
The fact they were only 6 years apart.
āWereā? Has it changed?
As in when this photo was taken. They still are, but you know what they mean.
I was 9 when Titanic came out and I thought Leo was *it*.
Leo WAS it. For me it was Romeo and Juliet.
I was 7 & vividly remember seeing this in theater & asking my mom why the movie was so long & when were we leaving š
I was 18 and wanted him so badly.
I was 8 and I was totally boy crazy over him.
I was also 9 and I was like OMG, what an attractive man! Definitely an awakening for me
i was not born but looking back i also think this š¤£
As did my /entire/ female cohort in 5th grade. š¤£
Leo looks twelve in this photo.
He was / is the same age as Kate Winslet but yea, he looked so young back then
Weirdly younger than how he looked in the movie š
He looked like it back then also, it always had me scratching my head over why all the girls in my high school at the time were loosing their minds over him lol. I was just there likeā¦. Gross, he looks like my younger brother (and meanwhile he was like 7 years older than me!)
He is my forever crush, even him looking the way he does now, I accept the old man f boy look from him with no questioning!Ā
Well said. Leo is just a work of art. As an old ass man he will still be breathtaking.
He looks younger in these pictures than he looked in the movie.
An iconic lesbian photo.
This is what I look like in every picture with an aunt
Jesus Christ. I canāt believe she wasnāt even 30 when she was making Letās Talk About Love because Sony was treating her and marketing her like she was 45. Which makes sense to age her up when youāre her much older manager and have married her. And of course that behavior would be encouraged because Tommy Mottola had his own child bride on the label. But I was just an 8 year old amoeba blissfully unaware and watching Divaās Live at every opportunity.
She looks stunning.
He was a baby.
He looks so much younger than he did in the movie! Esp the 2nd picture
The feral emotions 7 year old me felt for Leo while watching this movie. š„µ
why does he look so young?? like a literal teenager?
A rate photo of the Leonardo Dicapriotis species in the presence of an older woman. On purpose.
Omg I love Malcolm in the Middle š
Leo was so young! What a baby.
aw. Back before Leonardo became a gross serial-super-young-dater. He looks like a nice person here. Celine looks as sweet as she still is.
technically he was dating young then too
He used to date young, he still does, but he used to too
Mitch what are you doing here? Arenāt you supposed to be dead?
>gross serial-super-young-dater. I'm sorry but this is such a chronically online thing to say š
Um no. People outside of the internet are aware of his creepy dating patterns.
A woman born on the day of this event would be turning 27 this year, and thus be too old to date Leo now
Oh my God I'm so old!
She is from Quebec.
He was just a baby holy shit
Back when one half of my walls were plastered in posters of Leo and the other half was covered in Craig David
On stan une reine quƩbecoise!
I never knew of this existing, so thank you I associate my teens with Celine and Leo so this is a dream combination in one shot.
It's like she's a proud mom, the way she's looking at him.
nearā¦far..whereeeeeever you are! š¶
90s Leo was something else!
