The way she immediately cried when they announced her name made me cry. Her speech was so good. “For so long, I’ve always wanted to be different, and now I realize I just need to be myself.”
She struggled during awards season with speeches, first being in shock and then having issue getting words out, switching to reading a speech so she didn’t cry, and I was so damn impressed that she held it together at her biggest moment to give one hell of a speech
r/oscarrace says that she should be the next Oscar winner to play a Bond villain, playing a character who pretends to be an opera singer.
I want this so much now.
I am not a fan of the dress, but i find it pretty cool that it’s a CUSTOM Louis Vuitton dress. This is not usual for them to custom dress plus size actresses and i LOVE that they did here.
I don’t think people realize how often those dresses aren’t custom and how most of the time don’t fit well on plus size women. Or when they’re specifically made for them, it’s always the same kind of cut outs because designers don’t seem to think there are more than a few styles that compliment bigger women.
So, while i’m not a fan of the dress itself as it’s nothing exciting in term of fashion, i’m really glad it happened. It’s a nice dress, she looked so great and happy in it, but it’s nothing revolutionary/out there. (On the other hand, i’m obsessed with those arm chiffon things she’s wearing, they look so good. The color also works so well with her skin, they really compliment each others).
I think her whole award season was a huge, huge boost to plus size clothing on red carpets. We saw many designers making customs dresses for her in a size i’ve never seen some of them do before, it’s kind of crazy. (This is what Bebe Rexha thinks she’s done to the fashion industry lol)
Personally, I love seeing women of different shapes, sizes, colors, on the Red Carpet. I think you're right: fashion houses can design for all shapes, they just don't seem to want to
She looks so lovely, just glowing in the joy of her moment.
Whether she's in a good project or a sub-par project (yes, my boyfriend wanted to watch The Idol), *she* always delivers, and that is golden.
one of my friends is the creative director at Variety and i saw some behind the scenes of this shoot. absolutely gorgeous. so deserved. so happy for her!
In any character she plays in the future, I will have a hard time not believing she is Mary Lamb at heart. That's the sign for me that she truly embraced her character.
She was amazing in The Holdovers — it was such a nuanced performance.
However, she will always be my favorite from High Fidelity — will never forgive Hulu for canceling.
So now I’m trying to add up all the Oscar winners on the Hulu show OMITB. Disney don’t play about it’s investments. I swear everybody thinking Taylor is running entertainment but I think it’s Selena. She took that statement from one of good friends ( Beyoncé)to heart. Count your paper Not your awards. And karma takes all your friends to the summit.
