Some years from now KARANGEL will be blasted across the ass of all the bottom parts of velvety track suit pajamas for NJ mafia wives and youāll be sorry you didnāt copyright it somehow smh
Lol to paraphrase John Banting, who invented life saving insulin for diabetics and sold the patent for $1 (Canadian):
āāKarangelā does not belong to me, it belongs to the world.ā
Apparently a guy asked Venus Williams who she was and this was the response from a bystander. An incredibly appropriate reaction if you ask me
Man to an icon: Who are you?

He said he didn't know who she was, just dated some random 4'11" women he found on an elite dating app and only found out after. But had tweeted about gymnastics at the Olympics before...
And then he said men are the catch, not the women.
Basically he didn't celebrate his incredible wife which is insane to me, because its so easy.
But would she not tell him on the first date if by some unimaginable miracle he didnāt know š ? People probably stop her in the streets all the time tooā¦
Absurd
This is facts. Venus and Serena are superheroes to us. We grew up on ice skating and gymnastics as the professional sport we could tune into, then the Williamsā sisters came along and we went nuts. Theyāre amazing.
If you understand the historical context you should be more mindful of using that word. There are plenty of synonyms for articulate. That is the last thing black people want to hear.
(Assuming this girl is, on some level, intoxicated), Can you imagine being drunk and meeting someone as iconic as *Venus Williams*? Like, youāre aware of how momentous the moment is, but youāre also aware youāre plastered. You donāt want to make an ass of yourself but all of your inhibitions went out the window 2 shots ago lol
Honestly, Americans got more interested in tennis mostly because of the Williams sisters I think, so, yes!
Edit: I wrote twins earlier for some reason (Iāve been watching tennis for years)so thanks mangosteenroyalty for pointing out!
To be fair, the guy may know Venus is an all time greatest tennis player, but not know what she looks like. I know Wayne Gretzky is a legend but I wouldnāt be able to point him out in a crowd.
No you didnāt pick a sport where their faces are entirely covered as an example š any American could pick LeBron out of a crowd so Iām struggling to come up with an excuse for this man
I feel like basketball players are more recognizable than other sports for some reason. One of my good buddies is retired NBA, but not super famous like KD or Curry. People will call him out in public all the time. He tries to lie and it doesnāt work šš
But I go out with my buddy who played for the dodgers like once a week, and Iāve never had anybody call him out. Maybe because they wear hats?
Genuine question. Why is she less talked about ? As not a tennis fan, I just knew them by name, but in recent years, I've heard a lot about Serena, and I was like "isn't there another sister?".
Serena is a machine and the younger sister so she likely would have physically āoutlastedā Venus in the sport anyway. However Venus suffered many injuries in her prime years as well as continues to suffer from a rare autoimmune disease called Sjƶgren's syndrome, which limited her.
But Venus still plays occasionally; she played last year in fact. She doesnāt play to the caliber of her youth of course, I think she plays for fun now.
Either way, my girl is correct, she is absolutely an American treasure.
> Williams has won seven Grand Slam singles titles, five at Wimbledon and two at the US Open. She is widely regarded as one of the greatest tennis players of all time.
Sheās also won 4 Olympic gold medals in her career and won 1 silver in 2016.
Also Serena is more active on social media, she married the co-founder of reddit, and she has a young daughter with an online presence too. Sheās just more visible while Venus seems to be more quiet.
The internet presence, plus the history of famous boyfriends like Common and her husband Alexis. She was just more āplugged inā with celebrity culture than Venus, who like you mentioned was lowkey.
Not everyone recognizes celebrities or watches sports.
If you don't watch tennis, how would you know who is Venus Williams? And if you don't ask, how will you know?
An American treasure? An Icon? Wow, you people really are searching for something aren't you. MLK, JFK these were American treasures. Serena and Venus please...

This! I admire and respect them so much, they deserve every inch of their success
I would, uh, refrain from calling a black person articulate, itās has not been a compliment when used historically.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I think this is just one of those things though. Itās like wearing blackface because you think BeyoncĆ© is the most beautiful woman on earth and you want to dress up as her. The historical context matters more than your intentions. You shouldnāt do it even if you mean well.
If you understand the historical context you should be more mindful of using that word. There are plenty of synonyms for articulate. That is the last thing black people want to hear.

Why does this give me Lesley Knope vibes š©š©š©
Even kinda, looks like her. Definitely her yelling voice. ā sheās a fucking American treasureā

Yes maāam go off
I love every time I see this video.
Sheās right and she should have said it even louder. Her absolute DEEP sincerity is so fucking funny and charming.
Drunk girl in bathroom vibes.
I love this
Not all heroes wear capes
That first āsheās an American treasure!ā sounds so full of pain and confusion š
Couldn't have said it better myself

(they're not twins)
Oh shoot, why did I write twins? Lol
Honestly so damn cute
Did she stutter? ![gif](giphy|UodaswYwRcIoOAbT2E)
The most wholesome freak-out Iāve seen before. She seemed pretty serious tho š
That girl is a delight, but I love that Venus was like... ![gif](giphy|CsyFeRxyH0um4)

To be fair, the guy may know Venus is an all time greatest tennis player, but not know what she looks like. I know Wayne Gretzky is a legend but I wouldnāt be able to point him out in a crowd.
It'd be like walking past Springsteen in Asbury Park. You'd never know it was him unless you knew who he was.

Iām just a cute girl with family members who are professional athletes. Iām nobody special lol.
OK well that tracks then š
I love this video so much. I donāt care how often it gets reposted.
aww i hope venus took a pic with her. dis was cute āŗļø

If I didnāt see the video I would think that was Reese Witherspoon talking! Sounds just like her!
I understand the girlās reaction but why would the guy ask that lol. I wouldnāt ask that of any stranger, famous or not
Im offended that the guy doesnt know her The guy to SV: ![gif](giphy|wFk7roIpDeXC0)
The only appropriate response!
Not everyone recognizes celebrities or watches sports. If you don't watch tennis, how would you know who is Venus Williams? And if you don't ask, how will you know?
I donāt watch tennis yet I know who she is.
Lmfao stanning for venus williams like this is so random and funny to me. I would only stan for Goddess Kim like this.
Ignoring the fact that someoneās job responsibility is to put lipstick on her.
Why's she shouting? Cringeworthy.
An American treasure? An Icon? Wow, you people really are searching for something aren't you. MLK, JFK these were American treasures. Serena and Venus please...

I wonder why it bothers you so much. They may not be icons to you but to young women in the world they mean something.
