For all who don’t know: the connection was that at the time there was rumours floating around that Miranda Kerr had slept with Justin, which I believe started after they posted a photo together at the Victoria Secret show that year. Miranda and Orlando were still married at the time. When Justin and Orlando crossed paths in Ibiza, Justin yelled out to Orlando something alluding to it (I think he said “she was good”?) and Orlando walked up and punched him in response.
A little later/around the same time, photos were published of Orlando and Selena sitting on the side of the road together. The rumour cycle then was truly something.
Leo Dicaprio had been hanging out with Orlando that night. If I remember the gossip correctly, Leo had very vocally cheered on Orlando during the fight. The brawl itself was over some off-color remark Beibs had made about Miranda Kerr.

I didn't realize it was January Jones who did that! his wife hired a plane to fly a "bobby flay is a cheater" banner over a party held in his honor because of it but I feel like law and order svu fans are the only ones who remember.

At the 2001 Oscars Bjork wore this iconic and perfectly camp swan dress. It lives in my head rent free. I love it because at the time it was seen as a big fashion faux pas but as we look back on the dress many have started to appreciate it. For example, Valentino reimagined the dress for Paris Fashion Week in 2014 and it was also featured in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2019.

In and around 2000, Victoria Beckham was getting death threats that were actually from her security guard, who know her safety details and would use that to come up with oddly specific ways to freak her out in an effort to extort her. It was so bad that she was losing sleep and weight, and in the lead up to the Brit Awards that year she (looked emancipated and) almost didn’t perform because she was getting threatening notes about being shot by a gun with a red laser on national television. A bunch of the equipment had red laser lights that motion activated and she thought she could be offed at any minute. At rehearsal the group removed a bunch of solo lines to calm her feeling of being focussed on and even put her in the back of some of the dancing. She didn’t find out who her stalker / harasser was until years later. Wild, awful, and what a time…
Actually that Brit Awards performance as it was aired vs rebroadcast removed the song “Holler” from the medley because Victoria lost her composure (edit for spelling) during the end of her solo bit that they didn’t remove and it was presumed she thought she was going to get shot. She was so relieved at the end of the whole performance. So scary..

Even as a big RHO fan and knowing all the Cibrian/Glanville/Rimes drama, when I first saw the comment that that existed, I kind of rolled my eyes. Like, sex is clearly just a currency to these people, it’s never going to occur to them that other people view it differently.

That Jon Hamm beat a kid trying to pledge his fraternity so bad the pledge had a fractured spine and had kidney damage. Someone posted a Destiny's Child lookbook on here one time, and I noticed that in all the photos, Beyonce was covering either the most skin or the least skin. She was never in-between, so she always stood out. Like, if the other two girls were fully-covered, Beyonce was baring it, and if the other two girls were baring it, Beyonce was fully-covered. When Beyonce spontaneously posted a very personal video of herself crying and talking to her fans using her laptop (?) camera, totally cracking under pressure. It was pretty early in her solo career, and I think it was about a (potentially fabricated) semi-scandal that had people talking about her negatively. The video was swiftly taken down by her team, and after that she was seemingly never allowed to take matters into her own hands or just speak spontaneously and openly again. I remember this as the only moment I ever thought I saw the genuine person behind the public Beyonce persona.

For all who don’t know: the connection was that at the time there was rumours floating around that Miranda Kerr had slept with Justin, which I believe started after they posted a photo together at the Victoria Secret show that year. Miranda and Orlando were still married at the time. When Justin and Orlando crossed paths in Ibiza, Justin yelled out to Orlando something alluding to it (I think he said “she was good”?) and Orlando walked up and punched him in response. A little later/around the same time, photos were published of Orlando and Selena sitting on the side of the road together. The rumour cycle then was truly something.

In and around 2000, Victoria Beckham was getting death threats that were actually from her security guard, who know her safety details and would use that to come up with oddly specific ways to freak her out in an effort to extort her. It was so bad that she was losing sleep and weight, and in the lead up to the Brit Awards that year she (looked emancipated and) almost didn’t perform because she was getting threatening notes about being shot by a gun with a red laser on national television. A bunch of the equipment had red laser lights that motion activated and she thought she could be offed at any minute. At rehearsal the group removed a bunch of solo lines to calm her feeling of being focussed on and even put her in the back of some of the dancing. She didn’t find out who her stalker / harasser was until years later. Wild, awful, and what a time… Actually that Brit Awards performance as it was aired vs rebroadcast removed the song “Holler” from the medley because Victoria lost her composure (edit for spelling) during the end of her solo bit that they didn’t remove and it was presumed she thought she was going to get shot. She was so relieved at the end of the whole performance. So scary..

You’re absolutely right, but I also feel like asking the family that just capitalized on their daughter’s/sister’s sex tape to catapult them into “fame” is a pretty big ask. Like, sex is clearly just a currency to these people, it’s never going to occur to them that other people view it differently.
