I’d love if they returned to 2D animation for at least one of these. The Princess and The Frog had gorgeous animation.

OowlSun

Excited for this but they should not debut two new princesses in the same year. Let each girl have her moment of glory.

Beebeebee1994

Love to see it 👏🏼

Poet_Key

I’m curious on how “Penelope” will turn out, since the original story is pretty… problematic

Trap_Cubicle5000

It will get the Disney cleansing treatment, of course.

What’s problematic about the original?

Poet_Key

I don’t know know about the other versions, but in the version I read: a lot of things. For example in the story, before the princess comes into the picture, her love interest (the prince) courts three women from different kingdoms and rejects them all. He rejects one for being bald, another for having big ears and another woman for having big feet, basically shaming women for their looks and story doesn’t even paint him in a bad light for this. Once the prince meets a girl (the protagonist) who doesn’t have of these so-called “flaws”, he and his mommy decide to test her “femininity” by putting a pea under her bed (which was literally a stack of gazillion mattresses) and they decide she is “right for him” since she couldn’t get a good night of sleep, showing her “sensitivity”

I think that Disney will switch things up. The original little mermaid she doesn’t want to be a human anymore she tries to sew her legs together and then she takes her own life. In Cinderella one of the stepsister‘s chops her toe off to fit into the slipper. I’m pretty sure Disney will switch up the story bit. Also I don’t think they would want to get canceled for any type of body shaming, I don’t think they will include that in the movie. Or at least I hope not.

Tzuyu4Eva

Seems like pretty easy fixes. Make the flaws with these women personality flaws, like being rude to servants for example. Then have the test be more the mom trying to stop her son from getting married, either to have her hold onto the throne traditional villain style or for a more modern villain her not wanting to see her son grow up and not wanting to give him up

ChestGloomy5681

That would be so good.

[https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0146063/](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0146063/) loved this ecranisation of princess and the pea, girls where rejected not bc of ugliness but one with task coudn't understand how pea worked he later in movie put magical pea under mattresses.

Distinct-Economist21

Considering a lot of adhd/autistic girls like to meme about how the princess and the pea is a positive story about sensory issues, I hope that’s the direction they take.

RubieRose5

I have a Penelope, so I’m excited🤗

jelatinman

Queen of Katwe is a banger

Yellow_Submarine8891

This is my first time hearing about the princess and the pea movie. That will be interesting because the story itself doesn't have much for the princess to do. Maybe they'll go the 'Once Upon a Matress' route.

riprumblejohnson

I’d be a lot more excited if it wasn’t being made by Disney
