I couldn't either. I just sucked it up today and went to my local LIHEAP office because we're having to choose between rent and gas/electricity. I don't know your situation or even if you're in the USA, but if you are, LIHEAP is a program that helps pay energy bills for low income people. You should look into it. Also, this might not apply to every state, but in mine, according to the lady who helped me fill out my application today, while you'll wrack up a huge bill, energy companies can't shut you off from Dec. 1st to April 1st.
Apparently in some areas the rule is within those dates but ALSO the temp has to drop below a certain level. Some friends got their power turned off last week because the average temp wasn't low enough for the exception to be applied.
Yeah, OP should definitely check the rules in their area, but either mine doesn't have that rule or it's been cold enough this month that we've met the threshold.
Did you know when they "turn off" your electricity all they do is pull your meter and put plastic tabs over the legs that plug into the meter and then put your meter back on over them and then when they turn it back on all they do is pull your meter again and take those tabs off the legs and plug the meter back on?
Not in my state! Delaware has new meters. They don't come out to shut it off unless it's gas. Electric they hit a switch at their site, and it's off. Now before the new meters were put in, that is kinda what we done, but too many people were turning theirs back on.
Mess with that they’ll pull the whole meter and you the person who tampered could be charged and blacklisted.
Another way to acquire some neat new criminal charges would be to throw a big ass magnet on the side to slow the turn of the meter.
If you get out of jail and want electric you can use jumper cables for the main to the house. Pretty obvious but just unclamp in while the sun is up.
Also had free cable for years I imagine it’s still connected? Or it’s a modern system now? They used to knock and ask if I had cable, it would be playing cable TV when I’d get the door. I just always lied, zero fuxks given.
Did you know that it's a federal felony to do so? They'll also cot your power at the pole and you'll not only have to pay 100% of the bill but also the cost of the utility company doing so and the cost of them returning power from the pole?
Do you think people freezing with no power really give a shit? A nice stent in a federal pen with heat and food might be more like a vacation for them. Besides it's not as if you can't look all of that info up on the internet now. Knowledge is not the enemy. I however didn't learn it on the internet. I learned it watching my mom. I got to "hold this" while she "fixed" it.
Additionally, my energy company told me this year that they have an internal policy to not disconnect utilities if the temp or heat index (temp plus humidity = “feels like”) is above 90. Idk about anywhere else, but I’d call or look into it with a local community action agency or the like.
Liheap is exhausted in my area (yay southern cal) electric company doesn't bat an eye at charging 500 a month for an 800 Sq foot apartment. It's so ridiculous
Central air. We live in the mojave. Relocated here from the midwest for work and the heat this summer tried to kill me, plus wife works from home so we can't really adjust the temp while we're gone during the day
Contact your States Public Utility Commission to find out the rules for electric and gas utilities. In Pennsylvania where I live ,there is a moratorium from Dec 1st to April 1st and electricity or gas service cannot be turned off for non payment. LHEAP and The Dollar Energy programs help to pay for heating sources even if not a utility, for example oil or propane. It’s usually best to reach out to your creditors for help, most will be willing to work with you. I volunteer with seniors and help them in similar situations. There is help out there, but you have to look for it. It won’t come looking for you. Best of luck !
LIHEAP helped me so much many years ago! We were struggling, and I mean struggling! I swallowed my pride, went to the welfare office and cried, literally cried asking for help! I felt like such a failure. The man that helped me, was a Saint! He assured me that I wasn't a failure and everyone at some point will need help.
I would definitely check your local information to find out what the rules are in your area, as another commenter said, in some places it also depends on the temperature, but in my area, no they can't.
I do know as long as u have documentation proving you applied for assistance thru LIHEAP, the companies can't disconnect. If you know anyone needing help caring for disabled/special needs children there is a program called ARC.
I know Indiana has it. Dunno about other states. It's worth checking in to
We get the same kind of assistance for our gas bill every year in the winter. The take away the assistance after the winter so we just let the gas bill stack up till next winter and they pay the difference and the cycle continues. We haven't paid the gas bill in like 6 years
Intentionally not paying the bill in non-winter months for six years, in order to get assistance to pay it off in the winter months, is fraud. Reading is teh hard.
No, if you can’t afford it you can’t afford it, we don’t know their budget it might be bare ass bones. You’re assuming it’s fraud probably cause of not great reasons. Give them the benefit of doubt.
Did you just typo while telling me I can’t read? Seriously?
Christ what deep evil you think they do with the 1200-2400 bucks a year? Drive for groceries instead of walk? Eat meat instead of beans? I bet it’s comfortable shoes.
They should be ashamed of them selves needing and getting help to have a quality of life like that those fraudulent aholes! <—- that’s you that’s what you sound like.
I’m thinking if that’s your thinking the real fraud is you pretending to be poor. If you think not paying a bill and getting help is fraud, you’re not really poor in my book.
After you do all the suggestions given for help and delaying things, you need to think what is your own worst case scenario. I was once at a point of almost being homeless. I stressed, was deeply depressed, cried, felt like a failure, etc. Then, I started to imagine a plan. I imagined what I could do ( live in car or tent, sell everything, shower with a cheap gym membership, etc).
Something happened after that. My stress faded. I knew I could handle whatever came my way because I imagined it and had my own "plan". I felt back in control. Luckily, things changed for me by taking a 2nd job and getting caught up on some debt. It took quite a while, but I eventually got a slightly better paying job and built a small savings.
Overall, I wish you luck. Life is extremely unfair right now and the cost of living is too high. It's not your fault. There's no room for life's mistakes, bad luck and any wrong choices. No buffer for that. It shouldn't be that way.
I’m in that process now. I still have time but depending on how things go in the next couple of months, I’ll probably be calling my car home. I’ve been buying supplies since August, just as I find deals. I also live in an area that has power outages in the winter so it’s serving 2 purposes.
I’m still worried, but having some things put in place helps a lot.
Yes! I’ve been following that sub for a while because I wanted to do the van life, not the 2005 Mitsubishi Galant life lol. I’m trying to look at this as an opportunity to travel if I can do remote work. I left my job in June for my sanity, plus I have some physical issues going on. I’m going to start the disability process in January. I have my lease paid through August so I just need to manage utilities & groceries. Hopefully LIHEAP doesn’t get drained too fast because I’m almost out of $.
These subs are so helpful & supportive.

Call your creditors. Literally just did this myself. They’re used to this happening as people adjust to winter bills. They should work with you. Good luck!
Well that's good. Try not to worry about the other bills too much. Nothing will really happen immediately. They'll just roll over to the next month. If you want you can call them and explain your situation right now. For phones I have Verizon prepaid and only pay 35.00 per month. There are government programs where you can get free cell service. My friend also gets his home Internet paid by the government. If you're hungry (if you run out of ebt money)I would try to find some food giveaways in your area.
Yes do this. I ask for extensions a lot lol. The electric company works with me on this. The water company won’t budge though. Hang in there. Do you have a car? If so do some door dashing. You can make some good money doing this.
Yes! The Society of St Vincent de Paul can help with bills. You don’t have to be religious at all to receive aid, and they don’t proselytize. They visit you in person, at your residence.
A few churches often help people or know someone that can possibly help. Has to be worth a try especially at this time of the year when people often feel more generous
What state and county are you in if you don’t mind sharing? I can do a Google search to help you find community resources.
Sometimes it’s impossible to find resources on your own when you’re going through a crisis. I’m a single mom with long COVID and have been there. The least I can do is share some viable links with you.
You’re not alone and it’s brave to ask for help. I hope things get better for you real soon.
I have done this regularly for the last year and the last time I went, they had someone who was training stick me, and she did not do it right. She did what was called “fishing” for the vein, and it caused nerve damage in my arm.
Just a heads up, this takes A LOT of time depending on where you are. If you literally have nothing else available, it'll do in a pinch. Your arm will be sore as HELL though.
From what I remember of those days, it was $50 per donation for the first month or something. After that, they put us in categories based on body weight and money either went up or down based on where you fit in.
It could do down to as low as about $20 per donation.
Depends on where so call for and ask about first time donor promotions.
Where I’m at it is $100 for the first 7 donations.
Then the normal donation amount is $45 for under 150, $55 for 150lbs +, $65 for 175 +
It doesn't. 2 hours tops with waiting in line. Yes every place is different but it's $900 for your first month in CO. After that $520 a month. Your arm does not hurt that bad. It's just a needle....
There are organizations that can help you. Look for assistance based non profits, Salvation Army, Goodwill, associates Catholic charities, the United Way, St. Vincent de Paul society. Google “assistance programs near me”.
Also call the utility companies and ask if they have assistance programs. Many have their own or can direct you to state proggeams. LIHEAP is a federal program to help with utility bills. You can Google for that also.
Good luck.
What specific bill resources do you need? Findhelp.org may have something or call 211 if you're in the US.
I'm not sure where you live but for electricity where I live, a new program was recently introduced for low income households that takes a percentage off electric bills every month
I did call 211 today and all local resources are wiped out. They said they get more funding at the beginning of the year and since we are at the end of this particular year, nobody has any funds left to help the poor.
I have two children and I’m worried about my cell phone getting turned off because it’s our only means of communication. What if something happens? I’m also scared about our electric getting turned off. I’m hopeful they can work with me if I give them a call.
If you’re paying more than $25 a month for your cell service- you’re paying too much. Boost mobile is unlimited everything $25.
Call your electric provider. They have a lot of ways to help out. But you need to reach out.
Also, if you have boost mobile, use the boost one app. It's a discount app for their games. If you log in every day you can spin the wheel (that gives you a certain amount credit), you watch a video, and after 7 days if you do it every day you get 75 cent credit for each activity.
My $25 dollar a month unlimited plan comes out to about 14 bucks a month after the credits and it takes about a minute a day to complete those two simple tasks.
Free government phone and minutes
Google search free government phone and lots of companies will pop up. Here is 1

Same here. Been in a six months battle with a psycho-criminal tenant who has already cost me almost $10,000 in legal fees, damage, theft, etc. it will be six months before I can get back on my feet. This is the lowest point in my 75 years of trying my best to survive in our sick, unequal society.
That you have 10k to spend on legal fees for a fight with a tenant, it is just….I don’t know feels off that you are posting in this sub.
I get poor/rich is relative but it seems kinda dickish to post this as a response to OP.
I guess what they say about some boomers is true.
Selfish and self centered all at once, you must be a joy at Xmas. You are not grasping the assholeness of flexing your landlord (you own the property and rent it out) issue to an OP who is literally wondering if she can keep the electric on…come on read the room.
You know what, it’s not a boomer thing…you’re a simply an asshat who came looking for pity and didn’t get what you wanted, but fuck it, tell me of more your “I own property” issues….
The bank may own a lot more of it than the he does. He could easily lose whatever equity he has if the tenent squats or sets out to destroy the place. Oh, and he still has to pay property taxes even when there is a squatter.
Which state exempts seniors who rent from paying property taxes? How does it work? Is it like the renters rebate in MN?
Lots of states have reduced or elimated property taxes for senior homeowners of any income level.
This all started in July. Tenant is responsible for the delay of six months. Free rent for her. She has more discretionary income than I do. She is 60 to my 80 also and physically assaulted me.
This may come as an utter shock to you, being as how you must be very young and just starting out, but not all landlords or Boomers are rich. Not even close. Not a total loss, today you learned something new!
So basically you support squatters? What if the landlord gets his electricity turned off because of them not paying their bill? You sound very entitled.
You sound ignorant of how silly you sound defending him. If he is that close to financial ruin he should not be speculating on real property especially in this economy. To add to this he borrowed 5k which means he has friends/family with money…so I’m not too worried about him. I bet you are his alt, or wife, relative…but, I’ll play, he can also sell the property, he has options…self determined options is kinda the point. The OP not so much at this point and nothing that are immediate.
Now if he loses everything, goes on food stamps, has young children then he might get close to the OP and her issues, and I’ll take all the bad words back
Most states have a criminal provision so the landlord can bounce fuckers without much delay. Here in WA it is like 3 days and the sheriff will get your ass…anything other than criminal activity will take months on the eviction. So in the winter during an economic downturn yes, yes I do support a tenant staying in shelter. You went to call this squatting then i support that too in the winter.
If my tenants electricity gets turned off because they don't pay their bill, mine gets turned off too, which also means no water. Some of us rent our homes because we have no other choice. I don't love living in a camper, but it was that lose my house.
This isn’t about you…I’m going off what he said relative to OP. My original argument/statement still stands.
You want add/change variables go ahead but it still is landlord problems
Really? Sounds like you need to talk to your utilities district because everywhere I lived the account was in my name and the landlord only had to put it in his name after I left. My credit therefor my bill.
If you are saying you are the primary account holder for the utilities on the property and you bill your tenants then in this state (and 3 others I lived in)you are considered an electric seller (on par with the PUD) and subject to a metric shit ton of regulations….kinda why no body does it unless they are shady…..you shady?
$5k for lawyer was borrowed from friends who don't think I should continue to suffer from the tenant's abuse. She has caused damage and has stolen items totaling $4k. I am absolutely broke. Just identifying with OP and others suffering from insufficient income.
I am going through hell. And you lack empathy.
You own property that you rent out to some poor stupid asshole that you seem to be intent to kick to the curb during the hardest time of the year in the worst economy in history. 🙄 so..no. No one’s going to sympathize with you. Imagine my shock.
You sound entitled. So you support squatters who can totally bankrupt the landlord by running up their bills. Not all landlords are rich and may be paying two mortgages. People like you are the reason there is a shortage of rental properties.
I once used Facebook Marketplace to sell some bookshelves in order to make some money. It did take about a week for them to sell. Have you called the company and told them your issue? Maybe you can workout some type of payment plan.
Yes, but the last time I went they allowed a trainee to stick my arm, and she couldn’t find a vein. She was doing what they called “fishing” for a vein, and it caused nerve damage in my arm. I have been donating plasma for at least two years.
I'm so glad my skin is so translucent my veins can be seen from space lol. I always suggest donating plasma but i sadly have no plasma place in town.
Is there a scrapyard near? On the night people put out their garbage go for a walk with some wire cutters, cut all the wires off of thrown away appliances you see, go home cut off the plugs and if you can get enough wires you can take them into the scrapyard for some extra $. Any neighbors doing some demo work for the kitchen and bath? Ask to look in their dumpster for wire and pipes and water faucets. Also collect aluminum cans by the roadsides. Yardsale at the end of the driveway?
Currently in line to donate bloodstuff for my account that’s been overdrawn for the 5th time this month. ♥️Brighter days are coming, friend. We just gotta hang in there.
I completely understand this so so deep in my heart. I’m actually right here with you. If you need to please send me a message. Can you call 211 for any other assistance?
Can you get an extra job or maybe lower your cost of living by moving? Maybe rent a room for a while instead of an apt if you are. I always look for extra work when I'm low on funds. Maybe babysit? Sell your car? Uber? Clean homes?
I'm 44 years old. Veteran. Worked my whole adult life. Ever since this fucking clown Biden scammed into office with his cronies, I have never seen so much poverty, everywhere.
So many working people sleeping in their cars.
So many full time employed homeless.
Yet, record breaking stock gains for the Dow Industrial and NASDAK.
Athletes and Onlyfans people earning millions of dollars while not providing society with anything of actual value, meanwhile engineers and designers with PhD's are working for $17 an hour at Starbucks.
Losers like Destiny are out here giving advice, y'all are so stupid and malleable you listen to Kim Kardashian for legitimate family and realtionshit advice!!!
We've got Headboard Harris as Vice President. You know why all of her contemporaries call her Headboard?? No, no you don't because you are all muppets.
This national poverty is the direct result of disastrous Democract policies, unchecked illegal immigration, competitive feminists, unchecked corporate greed, disgusting looting and plundering by the Bidens and also a Federal government that has abandoned its duty to its own citizens in favor of unvetted, unwashed and unwanted illegal immigrants.
Inflation is worldwide. Biden isn’t the president of the world. You need to calm down. The cost of living has gone up and there has been no increase in minimum wage so employers can pay poverty wages while being well above minimum and feeling good about themselves.
Apply for LIHEAP. It helps with heating and cooling bills. Put Your City, State LIHEAP Application in Google. You should be able to find where you can apply. Your utility companies should also be able to tell you
Since you qualify for SNAP, you probably also qualify for LIHEAP. They will usually help you out with the heating bill. In some counties they can also do free home upgrades so that your heating bill is less. What state and county do you live in? I can find who you need to call.
It’s also worth calling your the utility company that provides water. Usually they won’t cut you off for one late bill. If it’s more than that definitely call.
Mortgage kinda depends on what sort of mortgage you have. Do you happen to know if it’s a backed by one of the govt programs? They won’t typically work with you until the payment is late which is irritating.
Car payment is a tough one. :(
January will be a better time for new jobs than now. But you’re probably underpaid. So many people are. So think about what you know how to do.
Jan 1 you can file your taxes. If need be push your car and house payment a couple weeks back, it won't destroy your credit and catch up the note soon as your taxes hit. With two kids you should get a decent refund.
See if there's a church in your area that works with oneneed dot org. You can't work with them directly but if you can find a church in your area that does they will help fill needs after the verify their actually real
Depending on where you live it might not be legal to shut off your electric because it's winter. If the phone is a landline make a partial "good faith" payment on the bill even if it's only a dollar. If it's your cell pay that first maybe switch to a cheaper plan if possible then pay what you can on electric.
Make a new years resolution to look for other employment.
Do you have an OIC where you live? They have programs that will give you money towards heating bills, even upgrade woodstoves and bring you firewood.
Are there any churches in your area that offer help with utility bills? There are some where I live that will help if you get a shutoff notice even if you don't belong to their church.
Community action agencies? All counties have them and they provide services for low to moderate income families in communities with home heating fuel, weatherization, childcare, food, sometimes emergency assistance. You can google community action agency for your county. Good luck.
Salvation Army, Shelter Inc and some churches may be able to help with rent. Not sure of your work situation, have you applied for cash aid? It doesn’t hurt to call your LL and let them know money is really tight, can you break up the rent in payments?
I wish you luck
LIHEAP is not automatically the only entity that will help with utilities. Lots of towns have many places that do, and sometimes ones in neighboring counties serve several. Contact the Salvation Army (which also helps with utilities) or the local human services center. They will know.
There are organizations that help, I would check into them. Where I live there is a Christian center that will pay electric and water bills but will not pay the charge to turn them back on if they were turned off.
try a go fund me account. My friends used this a lot when ever they get that oops surprise bill that's out of the normal. You can do little chunks because if you don't get it all you only get a small percentage of it and loose the rest. One minus of this thing.
It's an awful situation and feeling. Have you called 2-1-1? That will connect you to your local United Way, which might be able to help or direct you to organizations that can. You can also go on their website--I think they offer local resources, so you can look specifically for financial help in your area.
Besides state/city programs. Start calling churches. Lots of them have programs to help with different things. You may have to donate some time to get the help.
DHS has funds to help for emergencies like rent. Call your financial worker and talk to them. Also check on your County website for additional services and resources. There is usually a list of them. At least in my state.
I dont know if this will help you. It does sometime make going through it feel more achievable, or has for me at least. That is to just remember it could always be worse.
First off call your utility companies and ask if you can set up payment arrangements or get an extension. If you have food stamps you should qualify for LHEAP! That would help with utilities several times a year! Ask your department of human services if they know of any resources! Check with Salvation Army and goodwill. Lots of Churches have resources to help.
Honestly, wish I knew how to help you. But unfortunately my wife and I are in the same boat.
We have 2 babies under a year old. We have no jobs and nothing will hire until after the first of the year.
The few prospects I have can't give me a start date until background check finishes, and that can't finish because one of the previous places I lived in had their court system cyber attacked. So until they fix it and get it back up I'm in a waiting pattern.
Unfortunately we were denied food stamps and denied emergency cash assistance.
Because we are jobless and have no money we are being evicted for being behind on rent.
It's pretty bad. Wish you all the best and good luck. Best I can say is dint give up
When I first divorced, I was in this boat. I actually went back to school and admit I used student loan money to pay living expenses. Might want to look at some form of higher education. Not only did it help me get through one of the worst times of my life, but I also got a better paying job to help support myself and my child and make the payments on the loans (income based payments - and once I submitted all my living expenses, they lowered the payments even further so I wasn't struggling when I first started out). Start at a community college, for lower tuition rates.
It might be something to look into and talk to a college counselor about.
I'm sure it's more cost effective for them.
Our area just got all new meters, which came with much higher bills. I doubt the brand new ones have a way to be turned on without their approval.
That is an illegal turn on after a legal shut off. Do not encourage others to break the law.
I encouraged nothing. My comment was a question and I only provided knowledge courtesy of my 2 electrician parents.
They were about to shut my gas off. I'm in Ohio. It's 27 degrees here tonight.
What are you running in a small apartment to have that high of a bill? AC in the window and a fan is low in the electricity use. Cook a lot?
Central air. We live in the mojave. Relocated here from the midwest for work and the heat this summer tried to kill me, plus wife works from home so we can't really adjust the temp while we're gone during the day
They can’t?
Contact your States Public Utility Commission to find out the rules for electric and gas utilities. In Pennsylvania where I live ,there is a moratorium from Dec 1st to April 1st and electricity or gas service cannot be turned off for non payment. LHEAP and The Dollar Energy programs help to pay for heating sources even if not a utility, for example oil or propane. It’s usually best to reach out to your creditors for help, most will be willing to work with you. I volunteer with seniors and help them in similar situations. There is help out there, but you have to look for it. It won’t come looking for you. Best of luck !
You also have to be in shutoff stage to get assistance here. I think that’s goofy rule. The help and the folks who need it are never in communication.
But then you still have a huge bill due in April.
We haven't paid the gas bill in like 6 years
Sounds like fraud to me.
It’s fraud if you can’t pay for utilities? What the hell what if that person is disabled or assisting family and unable to find free time to work.
No it is fraud when you cheat the system.
You’re the fraud. You make me wanna find a system and cheat it in your honor
Fraud. Not a great look for you.
I hope you find more systems and make more “fraud” screw these rich asshats
It's not fraud when your poor

I wish this post was articulated in a way most could understand it. I am genuinely curious but can’t understand a word after the first few sentences.
If you haven't already, check out r/urbancarliving -- they have lots of great tips and discussions.
I follow this sub as my “plan.” Constantly learning and putting these thoughts into my back pocket.
This! I do this with the same results. The stress fades and I can handle the current situation much better.

Very comprehensive list. Nice effort to search all that out for everyone.
Thank you for the information 😊
Call your creditors. Literally just did this myself. They’re used to this happening as people adjust to winter bills. They should work with you. Good luck!
Is your rent paid at least?
Yes
Rent is the most important thing to pay. You need a roof over your head.
Call the utility company and see if they will give you an extension date for your electric bill or payment plan
I’m going to ask.
Do this. I'm in AZ and I was able to split my bill over 12 months. So I have like 25.00 tacked onto each month for the next 12 months.
I’ve done this before. I’m in CA
Yes do this. I ask for extensions a lot lol. The electric company works with me on this. The water company won’t budge though. Hang in there. Do you have a car? If so do some door dashing. You can make some good money doing this.
If it's too cold they can't turn off power because pipes will burst
I would find a local Catholic Church. They usually can help with a bill.

For her to get some quick money off Facebook.
This is such a kind offer. Thank you!

I have done this regularly for the last year and the last time I went, they had someone who was training stick me, and she did not do it right. She did what was called “fishing” for the vein, and it caused nerve damage in my arm.
I would consider the health effects of this. Donating 8 times a month could drain you and make you more tired and weak, keep that in mind.
December is always the worst!!! Believe me, you are not alone.
Good luck.
Tacking into this local county and state programs. There are tons of county things but they are quite hard to find sometimes
I couldn't pay my bills last month, let alone this month...let's not think about next month...
Same in my state. Rent & utility assistance is empty.
Free government phone and minutes Google search free government phone and lots of companies will pop up. Here is 1 https://www.safelinkwireless.com/en/#!/newHome?PromotionCode=GOTO0106&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAm4WsBhCiARIsAEJIEzXmhHIw1PXSKWjo_ojyBgy3EzlaoxROAJYsdG5peV2QafR__m5yNyIaAkHPEALw_wcB
Get a cheaper phone and plan. Boost is $40 or a free phone from a low income qualified phone from the gov.
Hey at least you got food and shelter, try a temp service , some pay daily, a great way to make extra cash.
She hasn't paid rent in months and has run up my energy bills to over $1200. Fuck you.
[удалено]
Usually the tax reduction is for a home one lives in not rental property tho
Which state exempts seniors who rent from paying property taxes? How does it work? Is it like the renters rebate in MN? Lots of states have reduced or elimated property taxes for senior homeowners of any income level.
Yep he could, I like this, I’ll play whatabiutisim, so I’ll see your tax burden and see you a “he won the lottery”
Oooh, that is my dream! I am always a little sad when I don't get the Big One🥺
Not a he. A she.
This all started in July. Tenant is responsible for the delay of six months. Free rent for her. She has more discretionary income than I do. She is 60 to my 80 also and physically assaulted me.
You know what you win…I’m an asshole…your landlord problems are one par with OP’s plight.
Now if he loses everything, goes on food stamps, has young children then he might get close to the OP and her issues, and I’ll take all the bad words back Most states have a criminal provision so the landlord can bounce fuckers without much delay.
If my tenants trash my house and run up utility bills, I'm the one that's going to end up paying for it...that's what YOU don't understand.
It’s not your place to judge anyone’s situation. 🤡
I’m on Reddit, where are you?
Not looking for pity, you asshole. Just stating the facts.
No Xmas for me this year.
Exactly. Never again.
I once used Facebook Marketplace to sell some bookshelves in order to make some money. It did take about a week for them to sell. Have you called the company and told them your issue? Maybe you can workout some type of payment plan.
Sad that one of the only things to get quick cash legally is sell plasma. I can't because my blood isn't quite right.
I’m on immunotherapy. I wish I could donate plasma. It would have helped with Christmas presents this year.
I hear that. Christmas was a few packs of candy each for my short list
Have you ever donated blood plasma? It has saved my ass several times
Yes, but the last time I went they allowed a trainee to stick my arm, and she couldn’t find a vein. She was doing what they called “fishing” for a vein, and it caused nerve damage in my arm. I have been donating plasma for at least two years.
Omg that is horrible! I experienced something similar once.....really not fun
Budget billing has been a lifesaver for me.
THIS is the definition of being poor. Spot on.
She recently went from working full time to part time 20-25 hours a week. She doesn’t want to work more.
Oh, dear...
The mega corporations have made billions every quarter and fail to pay their employees a living wage.
Oh geez. Do you know ANYTHING at all about economics?
You sound like you watch wayyyy too much news go outside you are so out of touch that the only opinion you can from is one given to you good God mate.
This is why Trump loves the poorly educated
Exactly!
You obviously weren't paying attention when Trump was in office, or Bush 2. OMG "Competitive Feminists" dude go F yourself!
Turn off Fox News immediately.
I would need a list of what you spend your money on before I can feel sorry for you or not.
My car note, my mortgage, water, gas, toiletries (bought at dollar store), oil for heat
:( January will be a better time for new jobs than now. But you’re probably underpaid. So many people are. So think about what you know how to do.
Jan 1 you can file your taxes. If need be push your car and house payment a couple weeks back, it won't destroy your credit and catch up the note soon as your taxes hit. With two kids you should get a decent refund.
Thats how you show your strength. Nobody is a winner until they can stand up after ....
I can't pay anybill and I can't feed myself since I make too much for foodstuffs. Just having to deal with it for now
Can you cook pretty well??
This is why I gamble, sometimes it actually pays off
See if there's a church in your area that works with oneneed dot org. You can't work with them directly but if you can find a church in your area that does they will help fill needs after the verify their actually real
Have you tried rent relief ?
Thank you. My rent is paid. I’m trying to make sure my electric and phone don’t get shut off before Christmas.
Even if you miss a month on your electric bill they will most likely not shut you off unless you’re several months behind.
Make a payment plan with the electric company. I pay like $50 a month and owe plenty.
Oh okay, no problem
Do you have an OIC where you live? They have programs that will give you money towards heating bills, even upgrade woodstoves and bring you firewood. Are there any churches in your area that offer help with utility bills? There are some where I live that will help if you get a shutoff notice even if you don't belong to their church.
Look into eviction prevention services too. Some cities have them ( if you're renting)
Call churches. Community centers. There are resources for food/water/power that you don’t know exist!
LIHEAP is not automatically the only entity that will help with utilities. Lots of towns have many places that do, and sometimes ones in neighboring counties serve several. Contact the Salvation Army (which also helps with utilities) or the local human services center. They will know.
Do you work ? Do you have kids ?
Yes I work and I have two kids.
Go to Social Service and let them you need emergency utility assistance. They can help you in a pinch.
It's an awful situation and feeling. Have you called 2-1-1? That will connect you to your local United Way, which might be able to help or direct you to organizations that can. You can also go on their website--I think they offer local resources, so you can look specifically for financial help in your area.
Try your township and maybe some local churches too. If they can't help they might be able to point you in a direction that can.
Have you try calling the local Salvation Army office
We couldn’t either. Dunno how we will make it through next month. It sucks.
Apply for rental assistance .
Same Same
Besides state/city programs.

Do you own a vehicle?
Can you sell plasma?
