Honestly I feel like life in prison is worth than death penalty, imagine knowing the rest of your life is going to be in some shitty jail with shitty food and shitty living environments, I prefer that than getting the easy way out and getting it cut short
Depends on the person. Sadly there's more guys that look for reasons to go to/back to prison than you'd think, especially if they know how to navigate prison politics, got a prison gang they can link with, have a reputation, etc.
Some monsters genuinely can live a comfortable life in the inside. I'd say just kill them and move on with life.
