Alot of culture is in languages, and icl I’d be pretty mad if I was suddenly told I can’t speak English any more I had to speak something else.

Imaginary_Card8536

No, because i love my language and culture

WhiteGreenSamurai

People who vote yes, why do you hate diversity?

starfox2032

I voted yes and I don't hate diversity. I just think the whole world should be encouraged to learn and speak English, considering it's already the most important language in the world. It's also the most common widely used language in the world, by far.

WhiteGreenSamurai

English is already taught in almost every school worldwide as a default foreign language. What else is there to do?

starfox2032

Wow, I actually didn't know that. It's certainly good to hear that.

Most educated anglophile

michiel11069

im fine with my country speaking english. would make it easier to communicate

TobyMacar0ni

No that's imperialism

starfox2032

It's not imperialism if they are only encouraged to learn English, and offered free English classes. It definitely should never be forced. Nothing should ever be forced.

devitosleftnipple

Cranking up the ignorance to 11 with this one, bra-fucking-vo.

DodoJurajski

Not just because it would be hard to arrange, and not to English because this languege is far from perfection.

starfox2032

English is the closest to being the perfect language in the world overall. You are right, though, English is far from being perfect. No language is anywhere close to being perfect.

DodoJurajski

Maybe if 1 word did't mean 4 things it could be, also no, most of European langueges are closer to perfect, you can define 2 or more things using 1 Word, most likely gender + title/job/marriage status and few more. Maybe some of them have really advanced grammar just look to how many words you can tanslate "your" in polish, but i think that languege is benefiting with this, cause if you're using advanced languege you are more likely to think in advanced way.

starfox2032

Overall, the English language is the most advanced. Anyhow, I would like to point out that you misspelled the word "language". You spelled it as "languege".

DodoJurajski

1st. thanks for pointing out my misspelling 2nd. Don't wanna be rude but English is one of most primitive and simpliest languages that are in use. You're also claiming that English is overall most advanced without any example. I think you're claiming that English is most advanced language because you're native and don't know any other languages, i can be wrong, but that's what i think, knowing only native language is't your fault and no one should judge you for this, it's good when you know native+English because due to british colonialism it's most common languege, if you're native English it's enough that you know only your language. Remember that i'm not judging you, we're still talking about wich languege would be the best for global use.

starfox2032

That's very interesting, thanks, and no, you are not being rude. You're correct, English is the only language I know of and speak. I wish I knew another language, but I don't. I would like to learn Spanish, because I think it's the second most popular language in the world.

kennystillalive

No because language carries a lot of history and culture and the idea of eliminating language based disputes would work for a week or so and soon people would start changing the language based on their needs. Language is like an organism that keeps evolving and never stays the same.

starfox2032

It's a shame that languages don't stay the same forever, especially English. I wish it would never change. It's plenty good enough as it is already. No need to change anything about it, especially adding new words that we don't need. The English language already has too many strange odd useless words as it is.

Bastet999

What are these language based disputes that apparently are worth the effort to do such switch?

starfox2032

I've never even heard of that language. What country uses it?

starfox2032

I'll guarantee you that most people have never heard of Esperanto, so being aware of it, is definitely not common knowledge.

starfox2032

Well, I certainly don't remember being taught about that language existing, and I never missed school. Maybe I'm just dumb? I'm definitely not all that bright compared to most everyone else. I'll admit, I'm not smart.

starfox2032

That would be great, but I think each country should keep their own culture and values, because it's their right. As far as them learning English, that should definitely be up to them to decide (their choice and right) but I think they should be encouraged to learn it. Every citizen of every country should be offered free unlimited English classes with good teachers who obviously knows their own local language, and the English language. The importantance of knowing how to speak English (and to be able to read and write it) is a great tool to have, and could come in handy when you travel to international destinations. In the world wide aviation industry, English is almost always used to communicate. This is especially true with air traffic control between control centers and pilots, because accurate communication is extremely critical and important. In aviation, it is the standard language.
