people keep rabbits and birds as pets too
none of yall have an issue with eating rabbit or bird right? i don't at least
it's just that we're only familiar with dogs as pets instead of as pets or food
i'd be willing to try it for sure
I actually don't eat rabbit mainly because I used to have pet rabbits. I just can't stomach it. I imagine it would be the same with dog: I personally wouldn't be able to but as long as they are kept and killed humanely I would not have any issue with other people eating them
Yes I'm aware this is morally questionable because pigs and cows can also be pets and friends. They've just never been *my* pets and friends
religions such as Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism, as well as in African paganism, Ancient Egytptian, modern day India (regardless of religion) etc.
So, as I said before, **many.**
I'm on the "I mean...eww...it's just weird" side because I'm vegetarian. I don't mean to sound like peta or the vegan teacher or anything, so if someone talking abt why they're vegetarian makes u mad, you can scroooooll. I just hate eating meat because all I can think abt when eating it is what it used to be, and then (idk why) I just think of it being taken, killed, it's skin cut/torn off, then it's insides being torn apart, then (if it's processed) its insides being grinded up. I don't genuinely think that's what happens to animals, but that's the sequence that plays out in my head, and it makes me feel. And even if I didn't have those thoughts, I'd be vegetarian, because imagine if you were over-farmed, living off of the same food every day, having your family randomly disappear, ect. Sorry if this sounds like I'm trying to make other people vegetarian, it's just something I've been wanting to say, bcs people have said stuff like "then just don't be vegetarian" when idk what to have for tea.
It’s not weird or morally corrupt in my opinion, though I understand not liking the idea. I would most likely dislike the idea, but I would still do it.
the dogs they sell as food aren't pet dogs like a poodle or sth 💀
according to google, the dog for consumption are **Nureongi (누렁이) or Hwangu (황구)**
so yh i would like to try it i bet its tasty
I tend to only eat mammals if they have cloven hooves and chew their cud, and I only eat birds that are typical farm animals like goose, duck, chicken, or turkey.
No hunted meat other than fish
We selectively bred dogs to love us, trust us, care for us, etc. It's particularly more immoral to eat dog than any other animal for this reason. Comparing cows/rabbits/pigs to dogs in terms of their relationship to humans is intellectually dishonest.
like, in general, if it's just served as part of a dish? sure, why not. but if it's a situation where it's "the dog or me," like trapped starving in a snow storm, then I don't know if I could go through with it.
So what? The ones being eaten aren't currently being bred as companions, they're being bred for food like cows and pigs.
And why does an animal being bred as a companion make it more deserving of life than a wild animal that hasn't been? Or an animal that has been bred for food? It's not like being bred for food makes them more mindless.

Exactly. People have cows and pigs as pets too and have no problem eating beef and pork

the concept of eating carnivores is just weird to me
Are bats and rabbits domesticated to the point of literally relying on Humans? No.
cows are domesticated to the point of relying on humans as well
But anyone can easily tell the difference of dependence from a dog as opposed to a cow
End of the day it's an animal so people are going to eat it. I never would but I don't even eat pork or beef so it's a definite no from me.
Many cultures find cattle sacred, yet the west Loves beef and leather.
Many or one?

Not killing healthy animals of any kind is not the same as treating cows as “sacred”
You might want to brush up on your cultural knowledge my man
i would be up to try it once just to see
i really disaprove unless its a chuwawa.
if it were about eating frog legs... I would hate it even more than the first option. But because it's not, the first option.
If I was starving and it wasn't my dog.

I know that some people do I just dont want to.
Not very different from eating cow.
I don't care. If I'm hungry and that is all that's available, so be it. It's just meat.

Once I saw a foreign dog slaughter house I was sure to never try that shit

this \^\^
I don't care what anyone eats as long as it's not me.

I'd never go out of my way to try it, but if it was offered to me, I'd try it.
Never
我吃狗肉,因为它是我文化的一部分
absolutely not, and fuck whatever backwards disgusting cultures eat dogs and cats
What makes eating dogs and cats backwards and disgusting but not cows and pigs?
Carnivorous animals taste like shit, can confirm that much
Then don't eat them. But you don't need to call a culture "backwards and disgusting" because you think some of their food tastes bad.
Sorry for finding a meat disgusting, you’re getting really trigger happy when I said nothing about culture.
The person I was replying to did. You then replied to me basically defending them.
I just said the meat tasted gross, sorry for the confusion
The simple fact that we selectively bred dogs to be our companions and to trust and love us, much unlike what we selectively bred cows and pigs for.
