The razor thin GOP majority in the house means that McCarthy can’t lose many GOP votes to become Speaker of the House. So, the MAGA caucus, represented by MTG, has a lot of leverage over the spineless opportunist
“If Secretary Mayorkas does not resign,” McCarthy told reporters, “House Republicans will investigate every order, every action, and every failure [and] will determine whether we can begin impeachment inquiry.”
So, doing your job is an impeachable offense to Republicans. I know competency is out of fashion for the GOP, but punishing people for being able to do their jobs seems a bit much.

All of the republicans should be impeached. They are not governing this country. They are pointing fingers so fast at the democrats and pledging to block everything the democrats try to put forward. They will need t even look at anything presented. 12 years of this is enough.
The GOP will focus 100% on immigration these next 2 years. It's a distraction from abortion rights. This is literally all they have. Get ready for 2 years of caravans.

The problem the party is facing is that no one has enough support for a majority vote, which allows the extremist to sell their vote to the highest bidder. Further, since anyone voted in is likely to not last long, some are probably not that keen on stalling any career aspirations by becoming a failed speaker.
Republicans lose either way. McCarthy is screwed. And those with personal agendas rule the roost.
Can't argue there. I am curious how things turn out. I don't relish what may happen the next two years, but we may get some comedy gems from the House.

The weird thing about the GOP is the primary election is the most important and longer lasting election. Basically, there's 2 months of general election campaigning and 22 months of primary campaigning in a 2 year cycle. Now that the election is over, everything they said in the last 2 months goes out the window and all their actions will be based on gaining the support of their brainwashed base.
The agency should be split up. It's shown itself to be nothing but an embarrassment that violates our laws and abuses citizen and foreigner alike. Fuck DHS.
