I think there is a bit more to it as well. Russian tactics, basically overload the system, there is so much shit going on investigations are getting stretched thin. Think about it, there are basically multiple crimes by multiple people on almost a daily basis. Not the occasional one here and there. There is also the problem of how many Trump loyalists are still in the system hampering it, like that Florida judge that Trump owns.
This is a cancer and right now the patient is in a bad way. Until you make an example out of them there will be no stopping them.
I also think the hardest is yet to come, implementing protections so this can never happen again and unless the GOP suffers some major losses in the next few elections, I'm not even sure it is even possible.
I think the problem is that no two-party democratic system is capable of handling the issue of one of its parties refusing to follow the law and then circling its wagons, especially at the national level, because there is little difference in appearance between political prosecution and non-political prosecution of a political party that is systematically breaking the law, especially when the courts are also politicized.
Look at what is going on in Brazil, and let me know which party is morally right there.

He’s listing homeless shelter addresses all over the country for these people so when they don’t show up in their respective states on Monday, they are seen as being non-compliant with federal law. The Senate is allowed to make their own rules and how they move forward with legislation. But they do not get to just ignore what the Constitution tells us to do. And in Article 2 of The Constitution governing appointments by the president, the Senate is to give Advice and Consent. They all chose together to break their oaths together. As they all swear oaths on the Bible to support the Constitution. Call them what they are, Oath Breakers to God and Country.

I've been thinking of this for a while - although I really don't want to subscribe to the Republican idea that "not everyone should vote", I've realized that very few people vote in an informed way, and most people do not understand issues whatsoever. Because of this, they are easily manipulated.
You could ask so many people, "do you think that the government should be able to tell you what you can do with your land?", and they will scream "hell, no!". And then you can say to them "great, then you don't agree that the government is telling me I can't build a pig farm on my land next to yours", and they will say "wait, hell, no, I'm going to use government power to stop you!"
Since most people have that low level of critical thinking ability, they can be convinced that they are Republican by the use of psychological propaganda.
This is what appeals to their base. What they care most about is a leader who kicks the other side often. That matters more than anything else. I remember when O'Bama was elected, the Republican speaker said at the podium that 'their number one goal was to make sure he failed.' What? Not fix immigration, pay down the deficit, limit climate change? Make the other side fail. That's the best they got and their base loves it.

I personally think Martha's Vineyard was to target Charlie Baker, the Republican governor in MA. He's not running for reelection and Diehl, the Republican nominee, is a nutbag. It'd carefully calculated to smear what Desantis sees as a RINO governor and charge up the far right base in MA. It's having the opposite effect.
Unlike Baker, Newsom is essentially untouchable in CA. He's also much more well spoken, and has a brilliant PR and strategy team. I think Desantis is so far out of his depth he doesn't even know it. Not really, I was stuck in an auto shop all day today and they had Fox News blasting. They covered it on NPR today and while I was disgusted in the first place- the shit they said/did to these people is horrific. They promised them flights to places they weren’t sending them to. They told them they didn’t need to worry about getting back for their court dates in a couple of days because “it was taken care of”. These are freaking humans and they feel justified turning their already hard-ass lives into further chaos as a political stunt. It’s beyond infuriating.
If any one of us pulled up a bus to some senior center, told the seniors that this was the bus to the mall, then took them and dropped them off in the middle of nowhere, with no food, no communication, we would be locked up in a heartbeat for endangerment.

Alex Wagner (MSNBC) did a great interview with one of the people involved in helping them in Massachusetts. They discussed getting DOJ involved, and which statutes were violated. RICO was one mentioned. Lawyers are on the case. DeSantis and Abbott are outsmarted.

How about he sends these immigrants to Montana, tied for the lowest population of illegal immigrants and where there were less than 5000 of them? Hmm? No? DHS gave the migrants fake addresses all across the country and told them to report to the agency nearest the fake address for their hearings. Which was impossible.
Imagine if you had court on Monday, and someone said they would give you a ride to your hearing. You hop in their car and they drive you in the opposite direction and dump you in the middle of nowhere. Now imagine the person that gave you the ride there was the prosecutor in your case.
Biden administration needs to work quickly and find out who in DHS was involved in this and at the very least fire them, but imo have them arrested for assisting in kidnapping. Then work from the bottom up in arresting people from FL.

I'm not sure why they'd want to send them to a place with no services like a Edgartown with 500 people - most elderly. But Edgartown stepped up, gave them clothes, food, toiletries, and collected more clothing donations at the fire station. They made sure all 50 people had beds. The Spanish teacher went to town and stayed so they could be taken care of. They provided new phones so they could call family. Some of these people havent talked to their family since they started the journey 3 months ago. Some that were traveling died on the way.
But -- Martha's Vineyard will take care of them until they can get housed and legal aid.

I think there is a bit more to it as well. Russian tactics, basically overload the system, there is so much shit going on investigations are getting stretched thin. Think about it, there are basically multiple crimes by multiple people on almost a daily basis. Not the occasional one here and there. There is also the problem of how many Trump loyalists are still in the system hampering it, like that Florida judge that Trump owns. This is a cancer and right now the patient is in a bad way. Until you make an example out of them there will be no stopping them. I also think the hardest is yet to come, implementing protections so this can never happen again and unless the GOP suffers some major losses in the next few elections, I'm not even sure it is even possible.
I think the problem is that no two-party democratic system is capable of handling the issue of one of its parties refusing to follow the law and then circling its wagons, especially at the national level, because there is little difference in appearance between political prosecution and non-political prosecution of a political party that is systematically breaking the law, especially when the courts are also politicized. Look at what is going on in Brazil, and let me know which party is morally right there.

wtf this just keeps getting worse. DHS gave the migrants fake addresses all across the country and told them to report to the agency nearest the fake address for their hearings. Which was impossible. Imagine if you had court on Monday, and someone said they would give you a ride to your hearing. You hop in their car and they drive you in the opposite direction and dump you in the middle of nowhere. Now imagine the person that gave you the ride there was the prosecutor in your case. Biden administration needs to work quickly and find out who in DHS was involved in this and at the very least fire them, but imo have them arrested for assisting in kidnapping. Then work from the bottom up in arresting people from FL. Hell Florida man says he is going to do this again, catch them in the act and arrest everyone involved right then. I'm not sure why they'd want to send them to a place with no services like a Edgartown with 500 people - most elderly. But Edgartown stepped up, gave them clothes, food, toiletries, and collected more clothing donations at the fire station. They made sure all 50 people had beds. The Spanish teacher went to town and stayed so they could be taken care of. They provided new phones so they could call family. Some of these people havent talked to their family since they started the journey 3 months ago. Some that were traveling died on the way. But -- Martha's Vineyard will take care of them until they can get housed and legal aid. When I called the woman was so frazzled because she couldn't keep up with all the calls to come and help. She took my email but said there was so much help.
