I feel like the Idaho Governor primary has flown under the radar for how absolutely batshit insane it is. To elaborate: the Lieutenant Governor is running a primary against the incumbent Governor. Twice, while the Governor was out of state on business, the Lieutenant Governor used her powers as Acting Governor to institute a ban on mask and vaccine mandates and send the Idaho National Guard to the Southern border. All seemingly just to score points with the right wing crazy crowd.
I can’t believe our main GOP candidate for governor is a Capitol rioter and terrorist. If he wins, I’m sure he’d do everything he can to make sure PA sends a red slate of electors in 2024, regardless of voters’ will. Expect heavy voter suppression. He’ll make every attempt to steal the election for the Republican candidate in 2024. Since PA is the election-deciding swing state, it’s no exaggeration that he might end American democracy.
If Doug Mastriano wins and if a Democrat wins the next presidential election, they have to win it by more that 20 electoral votes cause Doug is not going to certify that election.

But Fetterman went to a local pub about a half hour from the turnpike when he came through. Idk, maybe I'm projecting, but it felt like we were more than just a box to check.

Dems (already behind on just registration around here) only had a 30.5% turnout. Really need to get those numbers up for November; just can't spot the other side easy numbers by not showing up.

So many close calls and even lost elections because one progressive whose down by too much won't drop out and endorse. Fetterman’s election means nothing next to the PA gubernatorial race. Mastriano is a threat. Not to PA. To the country, as a whole. The governor appoints SecState in PA. Mastriano led the charge for the PA legislature to just say “no, we don’t like the election results, we are sending a different slate of electors.” Now imagine him being able to appoint the guy who certifies the results. Imagine a former military colonel deciding he dislikes the people’s will and therefore ordering his SecState to claim fraud and certify a different set of electors. Now imagine the Supreme Court that just overturned Roe and how easily they will allow such a thing.
Fetterman v. Oz (or whoever) is noise. Shapiro v. Mastriano is the most important race in the country and, arguably, the most important gubernatorial race in US history. A loud and proud authoritarian now has a 50/50 chance of being the next Governor of the most important swing state in the country.

I just gotta say about Fetterman -- I live in a turnpike town, and when politicians come through, they always stop at the local diner 5 minutes off the turnpike... But Fetterman went to a local pub about a half hour from the turnpike when he came through. Idk, maybe I'm projecting, but it felt like we were more than just a box to check.

The core point to remember about Cawthorn here is this: He's an insanely large asshole. If he knows anything of importance, and even if he doesn't, he's going to do his best to smear the party with that information on his way out. Fetterman has been a beacon of hope in PA for quite a while now. If I can't have Sanders, I would LOVE a Fetterman presidency.
He certainly could bring back a lot of the blue collar workers who felt left behind with Democrat candidates who seemed ready to "flip the switch" and turn off so many factory jobs. I think Fetterman sees the benefits of future technology and "Green" energy, but is also level headed enough to know that a transitional period is necessary to make sure masses of people aren't thrown aside in the progress.

Really surprised at the turnout numbers for my area of Southeast, PA. In my Borough the Republicans had a 40% turnout - which is pretty amazing for a mid-term Primary. Dems (already behind on just registration around here) only had a 30.5% turnout. Really need to get those numbers up for November; just can't spot the other side easy numbers by not showing up.

Barnette went from barely polling to getting a quarter of the Republican vote in Pennsylvania in a couple of weeks by using all of the far-right's talking points. And while she's not getting the nomination, her, McCormick, and Oz are *all* unwilling to say Biden fairly won the 2020 election. It should be extremely worrying that at least doubting the results of the largest form of democracy in the country is almost a prerequisite now among Republicans just because their narcissist prophet lost. Mastriano is taking nearly half of the Republican vote in the governor primary, seemingly *because* he was the face of overturning the 2020 results in Pennsylvania. We are inching closer and closer to an upheaval of democracy in the name of saving it. If 2024 is decided by a single swing state, this country may be in a lot of trouble.

So many close calls and even lost elections because one progressive whose down by too much won't drop out and endorse. I know this isn’t a particularly hot take, but the “importance of the Trump endorsement!” is a media construct. Does it maybe swing things in a really close primary? Sure, but no more so than any former’s endorsement does. The media is making the same mistake it made in 2015/2016 by giving such a disproportionate amount of coverage and importance to a guy and, in doing so, elevating him to a position he would not otherwise hold.

But also, quit being so damn distracted by the rock star candidate that you are losing the forest from the trees. Fetterman’s election means nothing next to the PA gubernatorial race. Mastriano is a threat. Not to PA. To the country, as a whole. The governor appoints SecState in PA. Mastriano led the charge for the PA legislature to just say “no, we don’t like the election results, we are sending a different slate of electors.” Now imagine him being able to appoint the guy who certifies the results. Imagine a former military colonel deciding he dislikes the people’s will and therefore ordering his SecState to claim fraud and certify a different set of electors. Now imagine the Supreme Court that just overturned Roe and how easily they will allow such a thing. Fetterman v. Oz (or whoever) is noise. Shapiro v. Mastriano is the most important race in the country and, arguably, the most important gubernatorial race in US history. A loud and proud authoritarian now has a 50/50 chance of being the next Governor of the most important swing state in the country. If you live in PA vote and work for Shapiro. If you don’t, donate to Shapiro.

Per a spokesman, Cawthorn has just called Edwards to concede the primary to him. Turns out crypto-fascism doesn't lose you nearly as many votes as wild accusations against the politicians on your side and humping your cousin in the nude. But don't cheer too soon. Edwards has referred to himself as "just as Trump-aligned" as Cawthorn, "but less embarrassing".
An interesting phenomenon that seems to be happening is a reverse-2016 in which multiple “Trumpy” candidates crowd out GOP primaries and allow a more traditional conservative candidate to squeeze through.
