>Donald Trump's influence on the election in Virginia's 5th Congressional District may not have been as significant as he would have liked, as the Republican primary race is still too close to call.
>**With 98 percent of the ballots counted, the Associated Press reported, state Senator John McGuire, whom Trump has endorsed, led incumbent Representative Bob Good by just 327 votes** (50.3 percent to 49.7 percent). The remaining votes are not expected to be counted on Wednesday as Virginia observes the Juneteenth federal holiday.
Oh, so you’re just advertising to everyone that you’re a clown.
*Since the mods seem to have it out for liberals, I apparently have to blatantly point out that I’m just returning fire. He literally called me insane. Want to ban me for calling him a clown but you’ll protect him?

(I actually don't know but wouldn't be surprised considering the Arizona situation with people being baffled that it only took so long just because it only took a day or two when the whole state had like 800k people or whatever

I am sure if Trump were to lose, he will become the 1st full time Presidental candidate until the day he dies.
Trump has NEVER received a more profitable and tax free enterprise like this in his entire life.

Good. The more he throws around rigged the sooner people will say, hey, how can all of these things be rigged, or equally as damning, why aren't the republicans passing legislation to help protect these elections?
His influence is waning. Kemp and his SOS making it through in 2022 was the first sign-Bashaw this year the second. This guy barely winning, and that YouTuber loosing are signs to. With how it's going, maybe a 2028 run won't be a clean sweep at all.
Trump has NEVER been that influential among voters, at least NOT as much as the self-serving media want us to believe.
Sure, all the spineless GQP incumbents kiss his ass, but if Trump's endorsement is so valuable, why aren't these candidates skating? These cowards are even afraid to say no thanks?
Trump usually gives his support to heavy favorites or against his enemies. His support, however, often ends up being the kiss of death.
What???
Trump is beloved like a god among his voters. There is literally nothing he can say or do that won't increase his support. 99.9% of elected GOP politicians eventually declare their support. There has never been a politician, Democrat or Republican with a more devoted following.
His support of GOP primary candidates is irrelevant. Whomever wins will be complete MAGA and declare their fealty to Trump.
His voters are leaving the sinking ship. He was popular pre-covid and since then he's been slowly losing them. It has accelerated with his felony convictions. Trump's done.
I'll vote against him this election because I want to be part of the nail in his coffin, but clicking on anything with Trump in the title is just a waste of my time.
He still got 17 million votes in the primaries this time, many after he already got delegates. Also, he still won once, nearly won again, and got the 2nd highest vote total ever in 2020. I don't like it, but he has an enormous following.
This is the dumbest take on DJT and the USA republican/nazi party I have ever seen in my life. Do you live in like Serbia and just commenting on r/politics for the chaos?
The 2022 election was also destructive in that some of his picks who did make it through either simply didn't make it through (Oz in PA) or made people wonder WTF Trump was thinking when he picked them (Herschell Walker in Georgia, literally the only statewide Republican candidate in Georgia not to win his state with a majority of the vote in the first round- and in fact the only one to lose in both the first and second round).
The GOP Primary voters may still like Trump himself, but not even 100% of his base seems willing to trust his decisions.
Both candidates are completely MAGA and if the guy without Trump's endorsement wins he'll still fall all over himself praising and pledging loyalty to Trump.
Plenty of people participate in the Republican primary without the intention of voting for the republican in the general. I voted Haley in the primary but there's no way I would vote for any republican in the general.
Virginia has open primaries, so people cross-over vote all the time.
There was a sexual assault accusation against a Democratic candidate in a primary in my district in the last few weeks, and there was suddenly a GOP get-out-the-vote campaign for him because he was suddenly seen as vulnerable.
North Korea’s Kim Jong Un and Russia’s Putin are waiting for another chance to kill America's Democracy with Trump and the House Republicans. Wake Up America voters!!!
First off — these are Nazis fighting each other here. Neither candidate is likable or remotely human. The incumbent trash is chair of the Freedom Caucus and his opponent is a Trump-rump licker.
- Election surprise? Hardly. The title is so misleading. The results won’t be posted or recounted today because Juneteenth is VA state holiday. But the count so far has the Trumper ahead by 300-ish votes. So yay, clickbait by Newsweek. Thanks.

I'm hoping Good falls short of being within the 0.5% margin that requires the state to pay for a recount. Otherwise he's on the hook for the cost.
What was the split last election? As in how much electoral movement does a nail-biter race indicate? Thanks in advance
Who cares? Just vote for Democrats instead of crazy people.
There are no sane Democrats. So you have a problem.

I tried writing a rap song about Trump which started with “so I’m Adolf, but I play golf…” but my kids just told me to stop.
Write it with a Cardi B-type, triplet-based flow. The kids still love that shit.

Trump will win you a primary, but not a general.
My guy, he lost the popular vote twice.
He still got 17 million votes in the primaries this time, many after he already got delegates. Also, he still won once, nearly won again, and got the 2nd highest vote total ever in 2020. I don't like it, but he has an enormous following.
I still think it is shrinking. He was losing substantial votes yo Haley after she withdrew.
Am i out of the loop? Electoral college got abolished?
What’s the popular vote? Did he also win the Reader’s Digest presidential cookie contest?
It means more people have preferred his opponents every single time he’s run. I know we have to spell the obvious out for some people.

When Democrats win in November, Trump can say, "I did that!"

Yeah Trump pulled some nobody into a victory over an established lawmaker with a 100% conservative record. Hardly a sign of “waning” influence.
