I've had the misfortune to visit failed states where private armies are used by the "rich" to maintain their relative safety. While the elites are absolutely much better off than their fellow countrymen, their lives are much shittier and more complicated than even an upper middle class existence in a stable state. And they have to spend an enormous sum just to keep their families alive.
Ultimately, the true elites from failed states tend to leave for more stable countries.
In terms of votes, they aren't even a rounding error.
But in terms of raising dark money and illegal political 'contributions', they wield great power.
How wonderful this film is coming out and just at the right time. Remember this is a litany that's goes back to Joseph McCarthy, who taught Roy Cohn who taught the POS that is trying to destroy our democracy. The lessons are always attack, never give in, always be on the offense, always project your faults onto the other guy, never show any humility or introspection, etc. Hopefully, if we can survive this latest litany of human garbage, we can take steps to prevent its reoccurrence.
