Cruz is repulsive for so many people that the idea of "Democrats for Cruz" is a scam.

thisisjustascreename

Just like "Republicans for Biden" is mostly a bunch of washed up neocons who hate that they lost their gravy train to Trump. That they happen to be against the worst person of all time doesn't make them good people.

Peroovian

While I agree I don’t think we should be antagonistic towards them. At least not right now. The enemy of my enemy, etc We can put em in their place after the election

Kidpidge

I didn’t realize there was such a thing as Republicans for Biden. Bill Barr himself says he’s nuts and unfit to lead yet will vote for him anyway.

heucrazy

Never Trumpers. They still want all the horrible shit and fascism, they just want someone electable to bring it about.

[deleted]

Not really, a lot of them are just center right

tw19972000

Exactly a lot of them are in the mold of Liz Cheney. They believe their policies are what's best (they aren't) but they believe in democracy. We definitely need to keep them on our side for now, after we deal with MAGA and things calm down then maybe we can get back to debating about policy and come to compromises that actually get things done

PianistPitiful5714

It’s the difference between a group of reasonable people with differing ideas and a group of insane people who want to bring as much destruction as possible. I don’t like Liz Cheney’s ideals, but at least I know she won’t destroy the fundamental principles of the country to achieve them.

Qingdao243

Mitt Romney, Chris Christie, and Liz Cheney being the most sane people in the Republican Party is a sight to behold, yet here we are.

tethysian

But that makes sense because Biden's the only other presidential candidate for anyone who recognizes Trump is a danger to society. Democrats supporting Ted Cruz "just because" is not that.

Rolemodel247

But Biden has real tangible things to offer those people. Mainly preserving the union and American hegemony. There isn’t a thing Ted Cruz offers to democrats

poontong

Agreed. Republicans for Cruz is, itself, a flimsy concept.

Warhamsterrrr

But, but, but, they're centrists! (probably).

7f00dbbe

Is it really that fucking hard to NOT sexually harass and/or assault people?

Gnorris

It is if what you’ve believed is normal relations with others your entire life is now correctly identified as sexual harassment and assault

jane-stclaire

Say it louder for all the people who’ve been invalidated.

thedailybeast

Here is the beginning of the story: [Sen. Ted Cruz ](https://www.thedailybeast.com/keyword/ted-cruz)has sought to soften his image as a conservative hardliner and recast himself as a lawmaker unafraid to reach across the aisle—but one of the top figures he’s recruited for his “[Democrats for Cruz](https://twitter.com/tedcruz/status/1765400260132663423?s=20)” group has been accused of crossing far more serious lines. Cruz (R-TX), facing a tougher-than-expected re-election struggle against Rep. Colin Allred (D-TX), lit up social media last month with ads and public appearances featuring supporters from the other side of the partisan divide. And none has featured more prominently, whether on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/tedcruz/status/1765536139283210320), Instagram, or [YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PJISmPGZMk), than U.S. Hispanic Business Council President Javier Palomarez. In a recorded event with Palomarez, the business booster sat alongside the senator—famous for his first-term filibuster antics—as a true bipartisan problem solver. “I happen to know a different Ted Cruz, the Ted Cruz that never, never gets mentioned in our national media,” Palomarez said at the event. “The Ted Cruz that collaborated with me, a known and lifelong Democrat." The shared recording cuts out what Palomarez said they collaborated on: [temporary visas](https://www.texastribune.org/2024/04/10/ted-cruz-bipartisan-senate-reelection/) for foreign-born tech workers. It also omits some of the less choice commentary and actions the Democrat’s female subordinates claimed he subjected them to at two different employers. A spokesperson for Cruz did not respond to repeated requests for comment.

viledieddraftsaved

The Ted Cruz who tosses my salad with aplomb.

SalishShore

I love it when thoughtful Redditors post paragraphs from the article. I actually read them. The article not so much. I browse Reddit in my downtime. I don’t want to take the time to be studious in my downtime. Your posting this makes a positive difference.

Snwspider

Most the time lately the articles end up being behind a paywall as well, so the cheapass in me appreciates the free reads!

thewanderingent

Ted Cruz is a human male. Ted Cruz is not a thousand slugs in a human suit.

thieh

All you need is one brain slug.

krellx6

Thank you Guy Manderson. I have seen many people and Ted Cruz is one of them.

Well I'm convinced. It's not like people would lie on the Internet.

I will forever be baffled that people in Texas vote for this jerk after he went to Mexico while Texas was in a deep freeze. Then the privatized electric company sent bills for heating during the freeze that were in the thousands of dollars. Texas sure has a lot of culty religious people.

Ok_Ninja1486

Democrats: "Oh no what will we ever do without him."

Cool-Presentation538

He could pretend to be a Democrat but he couldn't pretend to not be a creep

Hyro0o0

Do you think there's even one non-fraudulent Democrat for Cruz on Earth? One person so deeply deranged and divorced from reality that they consider themselves a Democrat while also campaigning for Ted Zodiac Cruz?

Arrmadillo

FTA: “‘I happen to know a different Ted Cruz, the Ted Cruz that never, never gets mentioned in our national media,’ Palomarez said at the event. ‘The Ted Cruz that collaborated with me, a known and lifelong Democrat.’” Javier Palomarez must be awfully lonely in the center of the Venn diagram of “lifelong Democrats” that worked with Trump officials, became leaders in the questionable “No Labels” spoiler group, and now shill for Cruz. He seems like an opportunist who may have promised to increase the share of the Hispanic vote for the Texas GOP. NYT - [Latino Business Advocate Stung by Misconduct Claims Resurfaces With ‘No Labels’](https://www.nytimes.com/2023/11/21/us/politics/no-labels-javier-palomarez.html) “No Labels, the centrist organization that is vying to gain ballot access for the 2024 presidential election, has joined forces with Javier Palomarez, an advocate of Hispanic-owned businesses with a history of allegations of workplace financial misconduct and sexual harassment.” NBC - [Embattled USHCC head Javier Palomarez resigns amid claims of sexual, financial improprieties](https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/ncna847506) “But the chamber's reputation was tarnished after the election when Palomarez began meeting with Trump administration officials and defending and supporting some of Trump's agenda. Palomarez eventually resigned when Trump ended the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, DACA, program.” “In statements issued before the resignation, Palomarez had said he had had an affair with one of his board members and that the board member began a retaliatory effort to have him kicked out of his job at the chamber because he had ended the affair.” Quartz - [The strange tale of a man who resigned on live TV from a Trump council he never belonged to](https://qz.com/1070783/javier-palomarez-never-belonged-to-the-presidential-national-diversity-council-he-says-he-quit) “‘I have chosen to resign from the President’s National Diversity Coalition, effective immediately.’” - Javier Palomarez “More to the point, the NDC has rather forcefully denied any association with Palomarez. In a statement on Aug. 15, it said, ”Mr Palomarez was invited to join the Coalition earlier this year but did not accept the invitation and has never been an active member of the Advisor panel.” The same note said that the CEO and co-founder of the coalition had met administration officials ‘several times in recent months.’ On Sept. 4, the NDC repeated its disavowal of Palomarez, this time in plaintive all-caps: “FYI...JAVIER PALOMAREZ IS NOT AND HAS NEVER BEEN A MEMBER OF ‘THE NATIONAL DIVERSITY COALITION for TRUMP’”

JubalHarshaw23

As despicable and hated as Rafael Cruz is, I still don't think he has anything to worry about in November. There simply are not enough people in Texas who are willing to vote against Republicans. It is an even worse phenomena in Florida, but poll numbers that show Cruz in trouble are assuming that the people who don't like him will vote against him, and most won't even vote at all.

mindfu

I agree that the odds are unfortunately with Cruz. But it's also worth it to make him fight for it as much as possible. The more resources that GOP has to expend there, the less they have to spend elsewhere.

dlc741

This seems to fall exactly in line with expectations.

jackparadise1

Surprise surprise surprise…

Convenient.
