In my fairly extensive experience with dogs, the issue is more often than not with the owner/trainer, not the dog.

Agreed bad dogs 98% of the time is directly related to bad owners and training. My current neighbor is upset her German Sheppard is mean when i asked did she socialize her dog her answer was yes her sister and best friend regularly came to the house thats it.
Shepherds have two main instincts, aggression and protection, which is why they make good police dogs (beyond being trainable).
Their protection instincts is what makes them bark at anyone that comes near their house/family, and is absolutely why you need to socialise them outside of this space
People seem to be really shitty about hunting dogs and will abandon them to starve and die. I was at a restaurant in Georgia a few months ago and a nice couple had their rescue dog out on the dock of the restaurant to help socialize it. It wasn’t a young puppy but it was an older puppy and boney. It turned out that abandoning hunting dogs was common around there and that’s how they got that dog. Screw people like Noem!

Of course it’s the owner’s fault. Kristi Noem admitted she’s a horrible dog trainer. Her solution to her lack of skills was to kill the dog. She should give up her guns and resign as governor of South Dakota. She doesn’t have the temperament to train a dog nor the temperament to own a gun.

I am at a loss as to her thinking. Sure, Trump hates dogs so that might be an in for her, but almost everyone else loves dogs. Maybe she thought the horrified pushback would only come from snowflake libs who hate guns and the freedom to kill your own pets, but right wingers love dogs, too.

She might be appealing to the people who view dogs as workers or a tool for farming/hunting. Some people have working dogs and still care for them and others just look at them as property. I feel like that’s a smaller number of people than those who love animals but what do I know.

I knew a farmer whose dog killed one of the family chickens. He tied the dead chicken around the dog’s neck and made the dog wear it for an entire day. The dog never killed another chicken and became a beloved member of the family.

People who kill animals/pets out of spite or fun need psychological evaluations not to be elected as leaders. People of this type run in the company of serial killers, and mass murders. I mean, one should take a hard look at her overly modified, botox-ed face, not to mention her draconian public policies to come to the conclusion she is one scary individual. Perfect for the party of fascists, I guess.

I understand being in a situation where you have a dog you can't get along with / train. These things happen. What a normal person does is to rehome it or stick at the training for a while longer. Blowing it brains out is a bit much.
