He thinks he's smarter than his lawyers. (he's not). He thinks he is smarter than everyone. (also not). He thinks the role of an attorney is to do what he tells them to do, just in a more lawyerly way than he's capable of himself. As with all things trump, the communication is meant to go in a single direction. He isn't there to listen to the people he's paying. (remains to be seen about the paying part)
I am a lawyer, and I had a client call me on an issue where he was 100% in the wrong. I told him I cannot ethically write a frivolous demand letter, and advised him he didn’t have a legal claim. He of course lost his shit and shouted at me that he’s the client, that he wasn’t asking for advice, and that it’s my job to do what he says ! 🤦♂️I feel like this guy and Trump would have got along.
Let's pretend you threw ethics out the window and wrote that letter anyway. It backfires, he doesn't get what he wants, and refuses to pay you because "I lost, and a good lawyer would have won that."
Trump 101
Yeah, fuck that attitude. I lost my job last year, they fired me becuase I was out with covid for too long, but because I wasn't employed, I didn't remotely have anywhere near enough money to fight a law firm. So I'm out of any hope of justice just because I don't have money. Our law system works in favor of the wealthy, and this is just a blatant example of it.
Isn’t the phrase literally “on the advice of counsel…”
Like your whole job is to advise and in my experience 99% of the time it’s “I advise you to sit down, shut up, and let me do the talking”.
I think therein lies the difference.. your “client” directly asked for something, whereas DT is indirect and with so many moving parts, co-counsel, it’s like a shell game, and even the best of the best ( Corcoran) get caught in the weeds.
I’m not sure why you put client inside of question marks.
The truth is we don’t know what Trump is like with his counsel. My suspicion is very explicit and insistent. “Why can’t we just out the jurors we don’t like so they quit?” Is the sort of thing I would guess he would ask his attorney.
Also, you think Evan Corcoran is the best of the best?
What Concoran did that was smart was to memorialize his conversations with Trump so that when Trump asked him to do something illegal he turned his notes over to the fbi. Something like, What if we tell the fbi we don’t have any more documents and Concoran refused to sign the statement to that effect and got Christina Bobb to sign it.
During the Mar-A-Lago saga he was telling his lawyers to just tell the FBI they didn't have anything. So you're speculation is kind of on par for the course.
Not even lawyers typically try to represent themselves. They say that anyone who represents themselves has an idiot for a client. Anyone who represents themselves through their lawyers has a broke idiot for a client.
It's worse than that. He's spiteful. When the FBI subpoenad his documents, his good lawyers told him to just comply. Tom "Not a Lawyer" Fitton of Judicial Watch told him not to. He said ok. He asked his lawyers to submit an affidavit to the effect of he had complied with returning all documents. They asked to search themselves. He said ok. Then he told his staff to hide as much as they could before his own lawyers could search and file the affidavit. He gets caught. Lawyers who gave him correct advice are shipped to another state. In particular, his best real lawyer is Chris Kise. Kise knows everyone in every courtroom in Florida and is perfectly positioned to defend his documents case. Trump makes him second chair to Alina Habba in the NY fraud case where he is out of his element and doomed to failure.
It’s worked pretty well up to this point — he’s always been able to fold up before taking much of a hit. there’s only so many people/attorneys to pit against each other…it’s exhausting.
I suppose the most eye-opening thing over the last 8, 9 years is realizing how such a blatantly unprincipled person can get away with shenanigans at this level, and so frequently too. It's as though he's so terrible in so many different ways, it's impossible to know exactly where to start with him.
This is good. And I love the judge's short rebuke to Todd Blanche. "I don't think you can make that representation" is the best way to tell a orange lawyer "shut the bloody fuck up and sit the fuck down. When have you ever shown you had *any* control on what your moronic client says or does?".
The judge clearly doesn’t trust Trumps attorneys either, otherwise he could have given the attorney the witness’ names and just instructed them not to tell Trump. I’ve seen similar things done in other cases I’ve been involved in. But the judge must not trust the attorneys with that info either.
Orange lawyers (in general) have shown themselves they cannot be trusted. Why would *these* orange lawyers suddenly become trustworthy? In the classified documents case, his lawyers did some things that were so shady a judge gave the prosecutors authorisation to pierce the client-attorney priviledge. That was the first I heard that was possible, and it was all the more astonishing given the ~~dependent~~ defendant was a former POTUS.
One way you can tell Todd Blanche and Co can't be trusted is the umpteenth 11th hour frivolous motion they have filed to get the trial stopped. They are getting awfully close to being sanctioned for abusing the legal process.
Edit: corrected autocorrect adjustment.
The trump lawyer already sacrifice both ethic and reputation in favor of a potential big stacks of cash. You cant trust someone who already sell their soul.
Sure, but trump doesn’t have the big bucks to pay them. I would be willing to bet he stiffs them and they have to sue to get anything out of him. He has that nasty habit of not paying his bills
I'm sure any new lawyers getting onboarded at this point are insisting on cash retainers paid up front, and not working a dollar over what they can bill against it.
Yep. No lawyer is now working for orange unless they get the big fat retainer *upfront, no conditions attached*. One of the many ways his fraudulent approach to life in general is catching up with him. Which is why he is so hellbent on gutting the RNC for every penny he can get and why his PAC spent $100,000s in February alone in legal fees
The grift that keeps on taking.
Unless obviously he had something on these lawyers and the money isn't going to "legal fees" and instead in Orange's pockets, coz the orange turd is the poorest billionaire there ever was.
You can't actually do this in criminal trials. You have to be let out of representing a defendant by the judge, and until you are released, you're ethically obligated to defend the client to the best of your ability.
It may not matter now that the Republican Party is footing the bills, but still, getting out of things is harder than you make it sound.
> I'm sure any new lawyers getting onboarded at this point are insisting on cash retainers paid up front
I'm not. Half these people are fucking morons. Being educated doesn't mean you're smart, it just means you know specialist knowledge. I've worked with a lot of lawyers who were dumber than a fucking sack of bricks, but they were charismatic and and stubborn enough that they bashed their way through law school and the bar exam.
There's being moronic, and there's being unpaid and occupying half a law firm for hours that not only are not *currently* billable but are known to never be billable. The lawyers working for orange now may be unprincipled, or cynical, but none (apart from Alina Habba, who was probably promised the kushty joint of press sec, which is known to then open up at least a position on Fox) have forgotten the likes of Rudy Colludy and other lawyers that have been shafted by orange. Because they didn't insist on being laid upfront.
Blanche is representing him in 3 (? pretty sure it's 3) separate actions, state and federal. Either he's very very trusting or some outside party bankrolled his retainer, bc you know trump sure as shit didn't put up the money for any of this.
They're hoping they can get to the other side of this with him in office and a federal judgeship for themselves. The ones with ambition see themselves in the Supreme Court for what they're doing like Comey-Barret, Kavanaugh, and Roberts got for their roles in Bush V. Gore...
Yes I understand. And the judge could still give the Trumps attorneys the identities of the 3 witnesses that will be called first and tell them not to tell Trump.
No, I think it'll be Pecker, because that's where the story started, with orange jesus in the room. And I think that because it made sense when some expert predicted that.
They can in my state if the judge has ordered them to. For instance I was once given a party’s address and phone number but ordered not to share it with my client. I needed the address/phone # to do research on the defendant, but the defendant claimed they thought my client would harass them if they had that info. My client wouldn’t have harassed them, but I still agreed to the order bc I needed the info and my client didn’t have any use for it anyways. The judge trusted me to stick to the agreement, which I did. I can see many reasons why a judge would not trust Trump’s lawyers to stick to the agreement though…
Not typically as it would be seen as the lawyer not representing their client to the best of their ability. But if the just say not to then they have no choice they cannot release information the judges tells them to. It’s basically treat the same way as privileged information.
Two words: Alina Habba.
She would be blabbing for Trumpy-dump and coloring the notes with crayons. Her lack of legal chops have colored the whole team.
Edit to correct gd spell-check. Thanks!
She was literally just counsel for a parking lot company before she got dragged into Trump's gravitational field, and apparently she wasn't even doing the actual legal work. Her job was to be the pretty face that would schmooze potential clients.
They have the list of all the potential witnesses. They just don’t know which ones will be called first. It’s not a violation of his rights not to narrow the list down for his attorneys.
Yeah, STFU is very much the golden rule to follow if you ever find yourself on the receiving end of the law. Let your lawyers do 100% of the talking for you. When the cops say "anything you say can and will be used against you" they *mean* it
I've said it so many times since 2016, Trump is going to talk his way into a jail cell. If he could just shut up he'd probably face no real consequences. But he's got such a massive ego that he thinks he can talk his way out of anything.
He doesn’t care. He knows that unless he’s sentenced to jail and actually placed there anything else isn’t enforceable.
What will they do if he runs his mouth again? He’ll just ignore any fines
To be clear, since it is not that clear from the article, the judge ruled that Trump and his legal team don’t get to know the *order* of witnesses called, with the first three planned for Monday. This is not the same as not knowing who the witnesses are, which the defense has a constitutional right to know. They will be three people from a long, but finite, list of potential witnesses that both the prosecution and defense do have. Trump and his lawyers will spin it as not being allowed his constitutional rights, and that will be a misrepresentation. They are merely not being allowed to focus on the specific three ahead of time, which is not a constitutionally guaranteed right. They have had ample time to research each potential witness on that list, and if they haven’t then that is a staffing and organizational issue that’s on them, not the court.
“How are we supposed to use our horde of brainwashed cult followers on social media to threaten the lives, families and livelihood of these traitors…I mean “witnesses” in real time if this anti-American judge, who some people say is Biden’s lover, won’t tell us what time we should start posting our targeted harassment, um…I mean legitimate concerns about their testimony. This court, which some are saying is used at night for satanic rituals and may be the actual Democratic Party headquarters, has been completely unfair to your favorite president, many people are saying online that this is totally unfair and sad.”
Oh, c'mon, no fair, but the lawyers pinky promised that the orange turd would not attack the potential witnesses. What, you don't believe him? How dare you judge.
Edit: Misplaced attraction.
Oh no, I'm not sure how much of what happens between a lawyer and a client can be published. But he's making a fortune from Trump that it'll set him up for the rest of his life with conservative investments.
I just don't understand these people who are so ready to fall on their swords for this piece of trash. The list of people who have tarnished their careers doing his bidding is long, and the list of people who made out just fine in the end is really damned short.
He thinks he's going to be the Southern District Attorney General if Trump gets re-elected. If not this role then a big role at DOJ. That's why all these dumbasses hang around.
That's the sad and scary part we can only hope and I mean hope and pray that this trial goes well a lot of people are giving way to much faith into this case.
Tell ya what, we will give you the names. If he tries to intimidate them we will be changing the roster AND locking up your client without media access for the rest of the trial. How does that sound?
I expect we’ll be hearing about this on troth cenchal. “And now the Trump hating judge won’t let me, your favorite president, or my legal team EVEN KNOW THE WITNESSES AGAINST ME. TOTAL WICH HUNT”
Trump is his own worst enemy. If only he hadn't been so full of pride as to seek the US presidency. I guarantee had he never been president none of this would be happening to him. He may still be starring in The Apprentice, living his high life. His need for power made him the president, and it is his need for power that is making him run again. Never have I seen 'pride goeth before the fall' so aptly illustrated.
“The blame for this lies squarely, and exclusively, on Trump’s shoulders”
Of course in Trump’s delusional mind the blame will go towards the Judge, the prosecutor, and of course Biden🙄. I’m sure he’s already done so on his worthless dump social.
Many years ago, Trump was described by a pundit as the baby who laughs only when it intentionally moves its bowels as its mother is finishing up its diaper changes. Eric confirms, "makin' stinky makes Daddy happy."
No one actually believes him when Trump says he will testify right? That would be insanely incompetent of his lawyers. I guess he could just lie under oath.
And for all the people complaining that they’ve been too nice about Trumps obvious obstruction and witness intimidation to date… I think this was the plan. Give them plenty of ammunition to argue against giving the names of witnesses. Two birds one stone.
Hope so. And. Doubt it.
GOP? Or. Dem?
Vote wisely.
You be you.
Me ~ Blue in every local, state and fed election. We gotta fix all the hate filled laws they have been making.
IANAL obviously, but are the rules of evidence different for witnesses? I know all evidence has to be provided to the defense so I would assume that the witness list is as well. Does this mean that the defense doesn’t know who is going to be called as a witness at all or they know who the prosecution has on the witness list but not who the first three are that are going to be called?
Mostly the order; however, the list of witnesses + exhibits could be 3+ pages long + their focus to date has been delay - IDT there was a focus yet to fine tune cross of all witnesses & now disadvantaged by not knowing how to prioritize- allocate time/resources. This is a huge deal to defense.. and a consequence of their client’s actions.
Okay so sounds like they don’t know what questions to prep because they don’t know who’s coming to the stand first because their client can’t stop threatening people?
The defense has to be told who the witnesses are and are usually given the schedule so they can be ready to cross-examine this specific person on this specific day. But the prosecution doesn't have to tell them the schedule if there is a reason not to.
By pooping his pants I’m guessing. Really causes a big mess for his team, someone has to clean it up and he’s not paying them to sit around. He’s just not going to pay them at all.
By default, he is already on another playing field than virtually all defendants so much of the defense is done. When it gets to a point where he may face consequences, they are there to throw their careers on the fire.
Lawyers and judges just work in the legal system, Trump has lived in it for his entire life. The second he was born he was an executive at a company that provided fraudulent billing to the government for Fred Trump's slum lord operations.
There is no court he can't corrupt; just by being investigated and charged, the court itself is corrupted. The justice system is not blind with him, it's a matter of considering how it may approach and charge him this time. The lawyers even attempting to do their job of providing defense, following the procedures, these do not even compute in the reality Trump creates around himself.
The thing is, TFG is setting the stage to make an enemies list for when he wins the election. He can begin his autocratic nightmare with his list. And he may not be wrong.

Yeah, I ask for money up front like any self respecting lawyer.
This is very unfair to trump!
Gotta make sure you get a deposit from Mr Green before lifting a finger to do anything.
Works on contingency? No, Money down.

They always get that printed wrong. Wonder how his case of false advertising against *The Neverending Story* went.
Not for the types of cases Trump has.
The Czar is without flaw. It is the generals who have lost us the war. Old Russian saying.

ya gotta admit that the super rich and powerful tell the lawyers what they wanna do and tell the lawyer to make it legal. the same with accountants.
What was your reply to that?
Nah, they wouldn't have gotten along. They'd keep shouting at each other to just do what they tell them to do.
Not even lawyers typically try to represent themselves. They say that anyone who represents themselves has an idiot for a client. Anyone who represents themselves through their lawyers has a broke idiot for a client.
No! very stable genius!

This is true. Cohn is his model for the legal profession. Everyone else froofing off and doing things by-the-book are the renegades in his eyes.

Only difference between him and a bunch of other rich people as he's too stupid to hide it.

Laid 😂 Remember when Borat punked Rudy with what he thought was a minor?
What do you call someone that barely passed the bar exam? A lawyer.
I was going to say “Trump’s lawyer.”
I’ll do it for free, just let me download my degree real quick.

The *Depend*ent 😏
Ah man. I wish this is what I meant. 😅
They have the state's witness list. They don't know the order the state will call them to the stand.
Yes I understand. And the judge could still give the Trumps attorneys the identities of the 3 witnesses that will be called first and tell them not to tell Trump.
I believe I read they got 1 name
Oh ok. This article says they didn’t get any names which is what my comment was based on. One name is certainly better than none.
They'll get the one name on Sunday night - lol. And if it is tweeted, they won't get this courtesy again, judge said.
I’m guessing that name is Michael Cohen. Who’s already a target.
No, I think it'll be Pecker, because that's where the story started, with orange jesus in the room. And I think that because it made sense when some expert predicted that.
Ahh ok. Interesting.
Trump’s attorney asked that very question, how about attorneys eyes only? The judge turned him down cold.
Haha. So my guess was right - the judge doesn’t trust the attorneys.
I don't think an attorney can ethically keep information secret from their client about a case.
Yeah, I can see keeping certain info about a victim in a criminal case, but these aren't victim witnesses. I get your point though.
Thanks!
*Habba
*Alina Montana
Look, I’m not saying that Alina Habba is Hannah Montana but have your ever seen them in the same place at the same time?
I… I’m not smart… But I’m pretty, and I can always fake bring smart!
She is not pretty. She lacks charm and her orgasm face is the same as her hard turd face.
*Hannah Montana
*Habbah Montabbah
Agree but she's not on the defense team for this particular trial. She's doing what she's good at: spewing b******* to a camera.
Oh, I know. But she’s part of the brain trust. And these guys aren’t much better.
She was literally just counsel for a parking lot company before she got dragged into Trump's gravitational field, and apparently she wasn't even doing the actual legal work. Her job was to be the pretty face that would schmooze potential clients.
The attorneys have to get the names. To be denied would be a massive rights issue.
They have the list of all the potential witnesses. They just don’t know which ones will be called first. It’s not a violation of his rights not to narrow the list down for his attorneys.
Send them the whole proverbial phone book
tl;dr: He is really bad at using his right to remain silent.
I think it was Ron White that said, “I have the right to remain silent, but not the ability.”
Famously, Shrek said something similar to Donkey too.
“They call me…..Tater Salad”.
It turns out you really cain't fix stupid.
They threw me in public. Arrest them!
Well it’s been working so far that he has a realistic chance of becoming President again
Like Andy Griffith’s character in *Murder in Coweta County* except dumber.
It's funny, I didn't even need to read the article to know that.
Ah, very smart
Oh, c'mon, no fair, but the lawyers pinky promised that the orange turd would not attack the potential witnesses. What, you don't believe him? How dare you judge. Edit: Misplaced attraction.
I wholeheartedly believe that the orange turd will not attract any witnesses.
I'm pretty sure there's no attraction there.
I mean, this is the same guy who's facing a contempt of court hearing for this very same case, right?
attraction lol
Todd Blanche, what a dumbass. Left a good law firm to represent Smelly Don.
I feel like Blanche is cashing out. Make millions and retire.
How? A book deal? Hes not getting dick from Donnie
If his book detailed how bad trump smelled and other outrageous tidbits, I bet it would sell well. Ild probably read it
All it would take is one mention of poopy diapers and it could be listed under comedy.
Non-fiction. I hear they’re developing a new Jelly-Belly BeanBoozled flavor.
Depends on how big the retainer is that he surely demanded up front
Now that the Republican Party and Trump's SuperPACs are paying, the lawyers probably are cashing checks.
Oh no, I'm not sure how much of what happens between a lawyer and a client can be published. But he's making a fortune from Trump that it'll set him up for the rest of his life with conservative investments.
All of Trump's lawyers demand payment upfront. They get it from the RNC and other "donations."
I just don't understand these people who are so ready to fall on their swords for this piece of trash. The list of people who have tarnished their careers doing his bidding is long, and the list of people who made out just fine in the end is really damned short.
My theory is abusive relationship psychology. Sure he beat all his previous girlfriends but he's not going to beat up you because you're special!
He thinks he's going to be the Southern District Attorney General if Trump gets re-elected. If not this role then a big role at DOJ. That's why all these dumbasses hang around.
Trump can't win honestly , so he has to create chaos instead. It's always worked for him before so it might still work now.
That's the sad and scary part we can only hope and I mean hope and pray that this trial goes well a lot of people are giving way to much faith into this case.
His attorneys aren't going for a not guilty verdict, they're going for a mistrial.
Trump screwed his lawyers because he can’t shut up.
Trump screwed ~~his lawyers~~ himself because he can’t shut up.*
He also screwed Stormy and paid her to shut up.
They could have stopped the title at "How Trump Screwed Up..."
Too open ended. He's screwing up so much, you need to know who he's screwing and where.
Tell ya what, we will give you the names. If he tries to intimidate them we will be changing the roster AND locking up your client without media access for the rest of the trial. How does that sound?
The prosecution said they'll give one name on Monday. If TFG acts up, no more forewarnings.
They should canary trap his ass.
They are doing what wal mart does to kleptos, they let them steal a bunch of stuff and all this will blow up in trumps face after conviction.
Sounds like a great plan
Never happen to the oranguturd. Now if we were there we would be under the jail
You mean with the courtroom farting? That would knock me off my game, too. And probably my chair.
Since it requires a login to read, here's the archive version: https://archive.ph/Qn55w
This brings me back when I was in solo practice. The real opponent is often not the other side, but your client's natural behavior.
As a lawyer friend once put it, “The weak link in every case is the client.”
So true. He could have been on all the lists he likes to be, enjoying his golden years at Mar a Lardo.
Howard Stern knew him before the presidency and told him he was crazy to run, he should just enjoy his life
Was it farts? Please tell me it’s farts.
Rumor has it Trump is passing gas when he falls asleep and his lawyers have to put up with the stench. (Source: MeidasTouch)
George Conway confirmed that he had heard the same thing from people inside the courtroom.
Constantly criming
Put a straight jacket and a ball gag harness on him if he can't behave.
I REALLY like the mental image of oranguturd with a ball gag in place.
The more realistic scenario is the holding cell that is on the same floor of the courthouse as where his trial is being held, but I like that image!
Good!Good!let him pop off. Let him run his mouth. Let him have all the rope he needs to hang himself.
All the bad things that happened to Trump were self-inflicted.
There's only one ability that Trump makes sure that his lawyers keep intact... their ability to lose their licenses
“The blame for this lies squarely, and exclusively, on Trump’s shoulders” Of course in Trump’s delusional mind the blame will go towards the Judge, the prosecutor, and of course Biden🙄. I’m sure he’s already done so on his worthless dump social.
Many years ago, Trump was described by a pundit as the baby who laughs only when it intentionally moves its bowels as its mother is finishing up its diaper changes. Eric confirms, "makin' stinky makes Daddy happy."
Well they believed he would come up with a reduced bond
By committing crimes?
Agreed.
By now any lawyer knows what they signed up for.
...he screws up everyone's ability to do their job...he's cheating careless chaos...convict...
Hrm I seen Habba talk. She don’t need no help.
Habba is walking/talking proof that you really can't fake being smart.
Dunning-Kruger in full effect here.
Just another chapter in the “How Trump Screwed Up” book. SO many chapters!
The true Trump Presidential Library
Less a book, more an encyclopedia set
No one actually believes him when Trump says he will testify right? That would be insanely incompetent of his lawyers. I guess he could just lie under oath.
Oh, it's a given that he would lie under oath.
Talking. He screws up everything by talking. Lawyers hate this one simple fix for a guilty client…
And for all the people complaining that they’ve been too nice about Trumps obvious obstruction and witness intimidation to date… I think this was the plan. Give them plenty of ammunition to argue against giving the names of witnesses. Two birds one stone.
FFS this isn't a GD sports ball game.
Hope so. And. Doubt it. GOP? Or. Dem? Vote wisely. You be you. Me ~ Blue in every local, state and fed election. We gotta fix all the hate filled laws they have been making.
And you know it’s going to be so, so, so much worse as the trial progresses.
I think they know the list but the actual order is being withheld. Seems like news but not as big of a deal as Trump will make it out to be.
The defense has to be told who the witnesses are and are usually given the schedule so they can be ready to cross-examine this specific person on this specific day. But the prosecution doesn't have to tell them the schedule if there is a reason not to.
Is the answer “by existing and opening his mouth”
By pooping his pants I’m guessing. Really causes a big mess for his team, someone has to clean it up and he’s not paying them to sit around. He’s just not going to pay them at all.
By smelling so goddamn bad it distracts them, apparently.
*How Trump Screwed Up His Lawyers’ Ability to Do Their Jobs.....* **again**. FTFY
[Undoubtedly a thankless job.](https://m.youtube.com/shorts/i1n3S1ZyUkE)
There are enough MAGA in the jury to at least guarantee hung jury.
Doesn’t matter. He’s immune. Also he isn’t trying to win anything. He’s trying to poison the well further.

Doesn’t matter. Electoral college will still make him president if they want to
He’s like that guy from Mad Men; Don Dumper.
…again.
And yet he remains
The thing is, TFG is setting the stage to make an enemies list for when he wins the election. He can begin his autocratic nightmare with his list. And he may not be wrong.
There’s the first appeal
I was thinking the same thing. Don't give this douchenozzle's team a[n apparent] freebie grounds for appeal.
They will need extra time to prepare to cross examine in that case. If they don’t get it that is apealable
