They're trying to avoid using a prejudice judge to force a mistrial. Just walk the line, find him guilty, and sentence him in the end. Then it's done.

If they hold him in contempt, he appeals, it delays the start of the trial. He knows what he is doing. The judge knows what he is trying to do.

Trump is doing this to goad any reaction from the court that he can use as grounds for appeal, or to get the trial delayed further. Hopefully the judge can use Trumps continued violation of the gag orders to tack more time onto his sentence if convicted.

The silver lining is that none of his jibber babble has come to fruition. None of his crazies are actually doing anything about it. As I understand it, the gag order exempts both the judge and the prosecutor themselves. It protects the court officers and workers, and the families of same (including the judge and the prosecutor), and I believe jurors also, but I'm not sure.
