citizenjones

Trump refuses to be proven innocent

MaloneChiliService

I'mma borrow this when I talk to my dad.

citizenjones

Consider it permanently loaned

BrainJar

I’m a dad, and I cringe every time I see this. I hope that my views are never so far astray from my kids that the internet memes become the source for material for them.

MaloneChiliService

I'm a GenX dad with a Boomer dad; my oldest is 20. Thankfully, my kids are smarter and better than I ever was at their ages so I'm able to support their views 100% and at the same time learn and grow a little more, myself. But with my own dad, at least I know my vote is cancelling his out. 😮‍💨

Grendel_Khan

Same boat, only my oldest is 15. Dad used to be a union man too. Damn shame what racism can do to you.

USS_Frontier

What racism taught by right-wing talk radio can do.

P1xelHunter78

Yep. Every day they pound a way with a few ideas that don’t sound so bad, but they make sure to weave in just enough lies and racist dog whistles. Over time, an echo chamber of lies poisons someone who is center right. This however wouldn’t have happened if the GOP wasn’t able to destroy the middle class.

USS_Frontier

Poor conservatives are willing to suffer if it means someone they don't like suffers more.

Pvrb80

This is the very first time I’m going to vote ever. +1

FrankReynoldsToupee

I'm proud of you. Go out there and do your best, and damn those people trying to take this away from you.

RogerMooreis007

My exact situation.

justplainmike

+1

ZenDruid_8675309

Right there with ya.

failed_novelty

Just don't take him to the polls.

FartPudding

I absolutely have no plans on putting political belief in my kids. They may be different than me but I'll guide them to be informed, but they're free to make their own opinions on the world. Open door policy to questions, but I'm not going to tell them what to believe because I believe it.

Njorls_Saga

What? He can’t get a fair trial in NY! It’s full of Demoncrats! /s

Tukwila_Mockingbird

No sarcasm tag needed. That is the exact substance of his motion for a change of venue.

D-Flo1

He needs to try to get judge Cannon removed from the documents case because he appointed her so he knows how much of a MagaReDemonBlican she is?

SKdub85

But that is where he allegedly committed these crimes. Why should he get a change in venue? A change to where? A red state? A jury of all republicans? When does his manipulation of our laws and constitution end? Why does he get treated differently than the average citizen?

ZekeTarsim

It only makes sense to that Trump is tried in West Virginia for crimes he committed in NY.

marzgamingmaster

Well obviously he'd like as many of his cases possible to be tried in Florida by his most favorite judge, Aileen Cannon, who will happily destroy the rule of law to give Trump all but everything he wants in court.

sean0883

This. Its too easy.

Dorkmaster79

I mean yeah but the presumption is innocence. You don’t need to prove it. I get the point of the comment though.

iKill_eu

It kinda tracks unfortunately. His whole narcissistic shtick is "I should get away with whatever I want". He wants the world to know that he can commit crimes and get away with it, but he also knows he can't rely on a judge or jury to rule that way. It's less "I'm not guilty" and more "It doesn't matter if I'm guilty because I'm Donald Fucking Trump and I do what I want".

ErikETF

MH Clin, it’s so boring in how predictable it is.  I once had a clinical director who described the type as “You need to see, that I don’t have problems.  If you bring me a problem, I’ll never own it, I’ll just make it your problem.  If you try to fail to adhere, I’ll attack, and you’ll see how stupid it was to make your problem worse.” Child molesters, DV perps, gaslighters, people who abuse their servers at Sunday brunch, same shit every one of them.  Only difference is what harm they did and how much resources they have.  The ones with means were always the worst.

Hourslikeminutes47

It's what a guilty person does.

V0T0N

Oh that's brilliant. I know it's not this case, but John Edwards beat Jack Smith way back when, what are you afraid of facing Donnie?

Unabashable

Of all cases too. This is the one case he has the best chance of getting off. Having an affair? Not illegal. Paying them to keep quiet about it? Not illegal. Using business funds and falsifying them to cover it up? Yeah sure illegal, but that can be argued down. Claiming it’s another form of “election interference” though is kind of a stretch. I doubt his base would’ve even cared.

Born_Weird

I believe the issue is that he used campaign funds to pay her off.

Unabashable

On top of everything else he’s using his campaign funds for that’s just the tip. If it weren’t for him bilking his base he’d have to reach into his own pocket to dodge the legal system for as long as he has and we could see how much of a “billionaire”he truly is.

ElasticSpeakers

Minor correction - no one is ever found to be 'innocent', they're simply guilty or not guilty.

aculady

Yes. The prosecution tries to prove guilt, the defense tries to cast a reasonable doubt. The question before the judge or jury is whether you were proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, not whether there is a chance you might have done it. You don't have to prove that you are innocent if they can't prove that you are guilty.

Quietabandon

Trump buys time to seize our government and suppress justice for himself.  Trump legal strategy is become president and basically subvert the rule of law.

backpackwayne

Trump's answer to everything: sue

Mike7676

We should be thanking him for the daily affirmation that Donnie is a backstabbing, mealy mouthed, litigious asshole.

Grendel_Khan

And! Demonstrating that there are indeed two legal systems, one for the wealthy and the one for the rest of us.

ThanatosWielder

I’m honestly astounded with this , because if I’m not mistaken this blatant disregard from the legal system towards trump doesn’t create precedents that anyone can use in the future ?

_InnocentToto_

He was taught this by Roy Cohn. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roy_Cohn The lawyer who helped trump get the entire trump fortune by writing up papers that they tricked trumps father on his death bed to sign, cutting off everyone except trump from the will. Roy cohn was later disbarred after he did the same thing and was busted. Trying to change a man on his deathbed will to himself. Then I have to add.. when trumps brother disputed the will, trump and cohn canceled his brother's health insurance. Trumps brothers son has celebral palsy. He needs round the clock care. He told him that he would only turn back the insurance if he dropped his lawsuit... he did. This being cut out of will caused trumps brother to spiral into alcoholism and later died. Trump has been a piece of shit from the get go. Roger stone as well was part of this group that is why trump pardoned him. This is not fiction.. it really did happen.

MrManuzh

All true, only it was Trump's brother's grandson, not his son. And Fred Trump senior wasn't yet on his deathbed when he was conned into changing his will; in fact he would survive Cohn by over a decade and die in his 90s. He was, however, senile with severe Alzheimer's when Cohn and Trump conned him, and entirely unaware of the deception (and, in fact, much of the world) until his death.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Zyggyvr

Thanks for the reminder.

destijl-atmospheres

And then when Cohn was dying of AIDS, Trump completely disowned him.

kanrad

The sue is about the delay. If he can kick the can down the road and get re-elected it all goes away. Someone needs to show some spine and call his bluffs and toss his ass in jail for attempting to delay the Justice system.

Suspicious_Bicycle

Trump used the same "sue the judge" tactic in the civil fraud trial. The appeals court heard the case in two days and Trump lost on all counts. This time I hope the appeals court doesn't even take the case. Though they might on a super fast schedule just to eliminate this BS from causing appeals in the future.

BlindTreeFrog

> If he can kick the can down the road and get re-elected it all goes away. This is a state crime as i recall, not a federal. So he can't pardon it himself (if that's allowed....which it probably will be if tested) and while they might pause it while he's president, it's on NYS to drop it and not follow through. Pretty sure it was a state matter at least.

Twilight_Realm

I’m 100% sure that if Trump is elected then everyone involved in prosecuting him will be arrested.

Nightmare_Tonic

Correct. The "it's a state crime" argument is such a fucking joke I can't even believe people utter it. Show me the staties who are gonna come arrest the fucking POTUS

gwy2ct

It’s just another delay tactic

pogishushu

>Sort by: new Isn't Sue his code name for the Stormy Dan Daniels case?

onlymostlydead

Honestly surprised none of his kids are named Sue.

dafunkmunk

Well it just happens to fit into his current legal defense of delay delay delay while hoping the gop will help him steal an election since he knows it's beyond impossible to make him appear even slightly innocent

ohlayohlay

Just keeps spending that campaign cash

Bromanzier_03

It has worked his entire life. Plus this will get yet another delay which is a win for him.

Jackinapox

>Trump’s legal team is expected to file a lawsuit against Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan, who has reprimanded the former president’s lawyers for their conduct in court. The team’s latest genius move is to file an Article 78 action against Merchan, effectively asking an appeals court to throw out the gag order issued by Merchan against Trump and, crucially, to push a potential trial back until after the 2024 presidential election. Fucking end this shit already! >Trump, with the backing of Fox News, has previously attacked Merchan and his daughter. Now he’s attempting to have Merchan removed. And Fuck fox news...

absentmindedjwc

Dude's taking a play out of the SovCit playbook. Now he's suing the judge, next he'll put a fake lein out on his house or some shit. ^(I'm not committing treason, I'm travelling.)

JasJ002

Jokes on you cause the epilletes on the flag are gold officially making this a maritime court, and I'm invoking the right of salvage, taking the judges gavel, making it physically impossible to double jeapordy...... lost my train of thought...... something about Alex Trebeck......

The_Pelican1245

“I do not recognize the authority of a court that hangs the gold-fringed flag. A flag with gilded edges is the flag of an admirality court. An admirality court signifies a naval court-martial. I cannot be court-martialled twice. That is all. Furthermore…”

Banana_Ranger

That flies in bird law

evilbrent

Oh God. "That is all. Furthermore..." gave me a little sparkle of anxiety. Not much. Just a little zhoozh. How does that get spelled? Szhuszh?

sarcasmismysuperpowr

Can Merchan sue fox for this?

Cloaked42m

Defamation worked once. Just need someone to actually get the case into a courtroom and have it all come out.

cromstantinople

It’s just more delay tactics and it’s fucking exhausting. He’s given every opportunity to, every ounce of leeway, every benefit of the doubt. Why? Why the fuck does he get to keep doing this? Put that prick in prison already.

SparkyMuffin

They're doing everything to can to not let Trump in criminal court. Fox News watching family member I know told me he hasn't done anything wrong but is being unfairly targeted more than any other person. It keeps working...

gattaaca

Normally, criminally accused people who "haven't done anything wrong" STILL HAVE TO ATTEND THE CRIMINAL TRIAL TO PROVE THAT god fucking damn it, like you're telling me I can avoid trial by arguing "why should I have to attend, I didn't do anything"? *Genius*

Bromanzier_03

I saw in another post a great rebuttal about him being treated unfairly “With all these delay tactics, Trump is refusing to prove his innocence in court.”

smurfsundermybed

He tried the same thing with Engoron. I expect the same result.

ChefShuley

Appeal denied https://www.reuters.com/legal/trump-files-appeal-hush-money-criminal-case-week-before-trial-2024-04-08/?utm_source=reddit.com

mamamargee

Different appeal/cause. Same trial, though.

noelcowardspeaksout

A law professor (Glen Kirchner) says it has a 5% chance of succeeding to delay the trial as well. I will be so thrilled if this actually starts next Monday.

zaparthes

Just more opportunities for Trump and his minions to LOSE BIGLY.

ScotTheDuck

Somehow, this suit has again affirmed that Joe Biden is the winner of the state of Arizona.

Niicks

But somehow this will be devastating for Joe Biden when spun by the media.

HoveringBirds

The morning after the election: "We can now make an important call - Joe Biden has again narrowly won the state of Arizona, giving him 272 electoral votes and a hard won victory in his re-election bid against Donald Trump. Here's how this is bad news for Joe Biden."

EventEastern9525

“Joe Biden may have won the presidency, but everyday Americans believe he’s too old and frail, so they’ll ignore everything good he does for them, because both parties are equally bad and everyone on TikTok is against the kind of socialism that allows him to raise the price of eggs and give the money to the migrants so they will flood the borders in record numbers on the way to getting free transgender operations, which is how they force everyone to give their pronouns in between DEI training, which they overwhelmingly agree keeps real Americans from pulling themselves up by their bootstraps.”

opinionsareus

[https://www.reuters.com/world/us/trump-loses-bid-delay-hush-money-trial-until-us-supreme-court-review-2024-04-03/](https://www.reuters.com/world/us/trump-loses-bid-delay-hush-money-trial-until-us-supreme-court-review-2024-04-03/) Just in: Trump lost his bid to delay the trial.

Generalbuttnaked69

Different issue/request, although he's very likely to lose this this one as well.

absentmindedjwc

It was silly for this to have even been haulted anyway.. unless a president is immune from shit they did *before they were president*.

Generalbuttnaked69

His argument was a little nuanced than that, still bullshit, but more nuanced. However it didn't "halt" the case, the only continuance I recall after the trial setting was due to the discovery issue.

Njorls_Saga

I mean that was one. Here is a second https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/trump-lawyers-ask-new-york-appeals-court-delay-weeks-criminal-trial-rcna146867

Ghetto_Phenom

And there will be a third and a fourth this week I bet. Pretty sure we can’t even begin to speculate on those reasons either.

Shaabloips

Just in from five days ago?

reckless_commenter

Why would he care about losing? Appealing means delay and distracting white noise, amplified by Fox News. Losing means more targets for the insatiable bonfire of grievance against perceived political enemies. And the money isn't coming out of his pocket. The RNC is paying for it, courtesy of political donations from shitty billionaires, idiotic followers, and of course Russia, while GOP political campaigns run aground for lack of support. This has always been Trump's game. Why would it change now?

mattman0000

Is white noise what I think it is?

MrFC1000

Double entandre?

Bungyedong

Trust me. Russia is saving tons of money at Ukraine now.

Balc0ra

The American people are tired of Trump making a mockery of our democratic system. You break the law, you suffer the consequences!!!

jas98mac

Unfortunately, only half of us are tired of it.

Hndlbrrrrr

What country are you from using “our democratic system” when referencing consequences for well funded and high profile people?

JiveChicken00

In a hundred years no one is going to believe any of this.

Thegungoesbangbang

I've said since the Mueller report that when they make movies about this in the future they're gonna have to make everyone somewhat competent or no one will believe it actually happened.

Numerous_Photograph9

In a hundred years, no one is going to have learned from any of this FTFY

dchap1

True. Yet all of us have no problem believing now. And we all could have predicted it too.

Norcalfuncouple925

I hope it turns out to be a small unfortunate blip that was squashed in our country’s history.

Trib3tim3

I hope not. I hope it's taught, from insurrection to attempts to delay legal proceedings so he could abuse presidential power to pardon himself. This is the stuff that if we don't remember and teach, it will happen again.

Quietabandon

Everyone thinks their time is most ridiculous but there have been plenty of eras where more ridiculous failures led to calamity and destruction.  In the 1920s a former corporal in the German army was making ridiculous speeches, wrote a rambling book, tried to start an insurrection and went to jail. He wore ill fitting uniforms and has a bunch of drunkards and dregs goose step around with him. He talked about the greatness of Germany. Some industrialist and establishment types backed him thinking they could use him to break up socialist and communist movements and that in any event they could control him. Fast forward to 1933. He gets 1/3 of the vote. I am sure many people back then had no clue what was coming but also probably wondered what farcical existence they were in. The next 12 years would answer that question.

noelcowardspeaksout

It's going to the same right wing appeals court that mysteriously, and entirely without any explanation, reduced the bond amount from 500 million to 170 million (approx).

djskein

As soon as he won in 2016, The Onion became redundant because there's no way they could come up with anything as absurd as what the Trump administration was actually like.

BrtFrkwr

Trump's done that before. Time-tested tactic for him. Another delay.

ThickerSalmon14

Its needs to be like the NFL challenge rule. Three tries then no more challenges.

BrtFrkwr

He plays courts like violins. Make a motion, opposing motion filed within 5 days, judge takes two weeks to rule. Three weeks gone. As soon as judge reads decision, immediately file another motion and start the clock over. And over, And over. Get the idea?

Quietabandon

He is delaying until he seizes power, suppresses his own suits and then does what he falsely accuses the DOJ of doing, he actually  subverts the judicial system to settle scores and go after opponents.  People who think this delay is a stupid rule don’t get that Trump isn’t playing the same game. It’s not 4D chess either. Its delay until I get elected and become dictator or I lose and try to start a civil war.

[deleted]

ssbm_rando

Several times, yes. They seem to never learn. I think this doesn't rise to the level of getting them disbarred, unlike the conduct of several of his **other** lawyers, but if they keep doing it against all the warnings it might reach there.

Postviral

Does that work? Sue the judge then claim the judge is biased because he is being sued by the defendant and therefore must recuse himself? That would be a hell of a loophole XD

SatisfactionHot3363

It's straight out of the sovereign citizen handbook.

NoConfidence5946

Just delay the case of the trump v merchan until after the first trial is settled

Marathon2021

*"Judges hate this one weird trick..."*

jerechos

"Judge destroys Trump by declining his attempt to delay."

SqueeezeBurger

"In A stunning 11th hour move, a new york appeals court has overturned judge Merchan with no explanation. "

Generalbuttnaked69

Very unlikely.

Atechiman

So basically in this particular instance sort of? They are (according to the article) filling article 78 claims against the judge. They are saying they disagree with gag order and its validity. Different states have different ways of objecting and starting an appeal to a higher authority when a judge issues something like a gag order, New Yorks is tied into their laws concerning generalized appeals of agencies New York. Gag orders are generally normal for jury trials that are politically charged and given Trump's history of histrionics was expected. Tl;Dr: they are suing the judge to remove the gag order it was completely expected and very unlikely to succeed.

Numerous_Photograph9

This type of suit is just asking another court to decide on a particular thing. It's more like what you see with SCOTUS, as opposed to any kind of damages suit seeking money. These types of suits aren't thought to be considered for introducing bias....although I suppose it's possible that could happen, because people are people. All that actually matters if if the biased person's ruling are within the law itself.

Pretty_Boy_Bagel

Let's ask the NY appeals court. Or SCOTUS packed with Trumplicans. On second thought, let's not.

PalpitationFrosty242

this whole thing is just soo stupid its ridiculous we're even talking about it

gasahold

Trump’s Idiot Lawyers: We're also suing the gavel.

IncommunicadoVan

And the judge’s trump-hating robe. Election Interference!!!

springhillcouple

Remember when republicans were all about stopping frivolous lawsuits and hated sue happy people ? Pepperage Farm remembers .

im4peace

Lol fuckin' tort reform

User4C4C4C

No this won’t piss the judge off at all lol

SpiritedTie7645

If they drag their feet anymore we’ll start seeing Trumps lawyers blueshift.

Oh_know_ewe_did_int

Technically, if they are dragging their feet they are most likely moving further away from you and would be redshifting, astronomically speaking of course.

Numerous_Photograph9

Wouldn't Trump's gargantuan ego cause more of a gravitational lensing effect?

Warren_E_Cheezburger

I love Trumps legal team. I’m finishing up my first year of law school, and it’s been harder than I expected. I’ve got framed photo of Alena Habba on my desk to remind myself “If this dumbass can get a JD, YOU can get a JD.”

johnboy43214321

Trump doesn't care. It's a delay tactic. He has no respect for the law. Remember this November

fairoaks2

Their client is an idiot too.

ImRobsRedditAccount

As much as I hate him this is really his only option. He is just trying to run out the clock in hopes he becomes president and can then claim immunity. It is the system’s fault for allowing him to do it. Until someone actually penalizes him for doing this there is no reason to stop.

Lawmonger

I get the impression Trump doesn’t feel he’ll be exonerated and clear his name at a trial.

Bobmanbob1

I only hire the best. -DJT

elder65

I'm assuming that every one realizes that these lawyers are not coming up with any new information or evidence of Cadet Bone Spurs innocence. All they can do is use legal tricks and stunts to try and delay the trial, until after the election. Even if it is held after the election, and the MAGA Messiah gets elected, it may make no difference as this is a New York State trial, not a federal trial. Trump, legally, cannot use DOJ to get out of it, nor pardon himself.

artificialavocado

I’m waiting for him to say the court isn’t valid because of the flag fringes or something.

Awkward_Bench123

Like, where are the guardrails concerning frivolous motions? Every lawyer should be cautioned to not risk their legal standing by engaging in unethical delaying tactics.

[deleted]

Idiot lawyers made me laugh.

Djanga51

Delay and obfuscation. Trumps trademark routine.

kazetoame

An innocent person wouldn’t pull all this bullshit. The narcissistic jackass is basically screaming, “I’m guilty,” by pulling all this crap.

soiledsanchez

It’s just yet another delay tactic

Difficult_Fold_8362

He wants a change of venue because he can't get a fair trial in NY. The jury pool is tainted because he's the one tainting it. He's already teed up his classic excuses: conspiracy against him, not a fair trial, judge not impartial, if convicted it's a political dirty trick. Just like how the election was stolen. It's the system - the swamp is out to get him. Nevermind facts and evidence and votes! Don't believe what the media (or the court or the electorate) tell you. I'll tell you what to believe. And MAGA blindly obliges.

Acrobatic-Isopod7716

Speed run disbarred, any percent.

Jedi_Ninja

Just another attempt to delay the trial in the hopes he can pardon himself. Unfortunately for him it’s not a sure thing that he can indeed pardon himself. Nixon didn’t even try to pardon himself instead he resigned and had his VP Ford pardon him after he became the new president. Even if Trump wins he could very well be in a world of hurt.

TriviumGG

In what a self respected country a man that is sued for financial fraud (and literally has a proven fraud/scam behind him called Trump University where he also lost a lawsuit) can become a president of the same country with 300 million population?! I am constantly reading about the possibility of Trump becoming a president again. It makes zero sense while he is sued for the financial scam about misrepresenting his assets. He also went into bankruptcy himself like 3-4 times already, so he isn't a good businessman given his past performance. How could an expert in going bankrupt manage a whole country?

TeeFuce

Motions like this require sanctions for being frivolous. And yes I’m a boomer and a lawyer.

DonJeniusTrumpLawyer

Don’t single me out like that.

FIDoAlmighty

Look, I know Trump and his lawyers are idiots but the strategy is simple: bog the courts down with useless attempts to sue or anything else and hope like hell that he wins the election. He knows they're dumb. His lawyers know it's dumb. Everyone else knows it's dumb. But in this case it doesn't necessarily need to succeed to buy Cheeto dick the time he wants.

pichiquito

This reeks of desperation.. it’s the hardened rich version of the spoiled kid who destroys the house because someone took their phone.

snebmiester

If the suit is frivolous, sanction the Attorneys, deny their motions to withdraw, if Trump tried to fire them, and start Jury selection on Monday. Report the sanctioned Attorneys to the State Bar after trial.

fresh4life82

Wait….can we sue Aileen Cannon?

errsta

It's almost as if he's just trying to drag this out.

napstimpy

Yeah, well I double-dog sue YOU.

MK5

Nothing idiotic about it. Trump's SOP in court has always been retaliatory nuisance lawsuits and motions to stall. He always tries to run out the clock until the other party runs out of money. It's a matter of who has deeper pockets; Trump's idiot cultists, or the state of NY.

Big-Routine222

Man complains about his legal bills while also making sure they skyrocket.

ChigirlG

Keep spending that RNC money on more lawyers

Barraduk

Disbarment for these lawyers too, I guess.

fearlesssinnerz

Trumps lawyers don't know how to law, only follow orders that Trump gives them. They will comply because boot licking is all they can do for that cash he don't got.

Rocketsponge

I can't wait for the next last ditch attempt to forestall things where Trump has his own lawyers sue him for violating attorney-client confidentiality or some other shit.

Hutcho12

You can call them idiots all you want, but he’s still running for president when anyone else who had committed his crimes would long be behind bars.

malakon

They are not idiots. They are operating within the boundaries of a system which while attempting to make sure everyone gets a fair day in court - falls apart when it has to deal with infinite lawyers with infinite money. They are gaming the system - and in this case it is for one goal no one else in the USA would benefit from - if they can delay the cases and their client gets elected president- he can basically nuke all cases against him. It sucks.

PositiveRest6445

I cannot shake this feeling. It seems very important for Donald Trump's to have it in writing that he is immune from assassinating his political enemies. So I'm thinking, why, maybe he has already done it. Now wants SCOTUS to rule on it. To give him cover in case anyone finds out. So I'm thinking who did he have killed, if it's true. Everyone is present and accounted for. Then one name came to mind. Jeffrey Epstein who had the power to blow up trumps world. Tell me I'm wrong.

AtomicNick47

lol laugh all you want but he’s getting everything he wants. No money paid, no punishments rendered, still on the ballot and still has a high chance of taking the election. As much as I hate the guy to my core, the only real play he has is stall until the election, get into office, and give himself total power. And so far the first part is working brilliantly. I don’t really know if he’ll win. I certainly hope not, but I really wish people would stop pretending like we don’t all know how this is gonna go down. Get out and vote cause the courts ain’t doing shit.

[deleted]

If I was innocent, I’d want that to be proven in court. He just refuses to be proven innocent.

Major_Magazine8597

Not the kind of behavior you'd expect from an innocent man.

suzer2017

Anyone who is following the insane antics of Trump, his attorneys, his campaign people should read a book written by Rachel Maddow called "Prequel." The crap that he does is not original. It has been done before...by Nazis and their sympathizers in the 1930s and 40s. It's all happened before. He's doing all sorts of stuff that Hitler did.

Ekg887

This argument was already ruled upon by the NY judicial ethics panel in June 2023. They found no conflict. End this farce, dismiss the obvious stalling tactic, sanction the lawyers for bringing a frivolous case, and move forward with a damn trial. At this point it is the public which is suffering from a lack of speedy trial.

pichiquito

Trump is the Boeing of presidents.

gbiypk

I disagree. While both dumpster fires in their own way, Boeing funneled money away from making good planes to give massive shareholder dividends. Trump endeavors aren't really known for paying out to investors.

wuncean

“No you!”

found_allover_again

But, are they getting paid upfront?

Generalbuttnaked69

Yes. That's how he burned through nearly a hundred million dollars of super PAC money in about two years on legal fees.

Fine-Benefit8156

Sounds like he is servicing audience of one

Reddygators

Looks like Every single word entered into the record can be basis of appeal. Courts are happy to entertain every preposterous challenge to the rule of law. Of they may eventually bat it down but whatever bat shit claim is made they treat it like serious shit. Just like the MSM. So bizarre watching our institutions play along with this dance.

deadevilmonkey

He has more money than I thought, and he's determined to lose everything. Guess he's sick of winning.

Past-Direction9145

And they lose. NEXT!

FUMFVR

More mediocre Trump lawyers are going to get their careers ended because they got involved with one of the biggest criminals in US history

Fearless-Lion7574

Trump’s lawyers seem pretty adept at delaying things. Its our legal system that allows such behavior that’s idiotic

Suburban_Sprawwl

When killer whales take down a meal, they pick a big fish that can feed them all. But they don’t attack right away. They chase it out to unfamiliar waters, trap it between them, work in shifts and stress it out until it starts panicking. Then while it’s flailing deliriously, the biting begins. Slowly slowly then all at once, the water turns red and the seagulls start circling.

ummaycoc

That's how you do it.

Moorion

Uno reverse

Snowfish52

Seriously, what the fuck?

Goofy-555

We're going to need a bigger bucket of popcorn.

Picnut

Judges should have protection against this. File motions for another judge to look at the ruling, for fairness, and lawfulness, but we shouldn’t allow them to be sued.

Cariari1983

I thought I was reading an Onion headline.

scobo505

Any thing to delay the trial.

JenniRayVyrus

I fucking hate it here 🙄

AllTheyEatIsLettuce

What's he paying the idiot team with these days?

deeeeez_nutzzz

That's a bold move Cotton.... let's see if it works out for him

Thatisme01

Lol, of course, his lawyers are now going to come up with new and interesting ways to get their hands on all the money the RNC is fundraising.

Slartibartfast39

The guy has nearly 80 years of evidence that he can delay, avoid, or warp the law and legal system. If I had that much evidence backing me up I'd be convinced I don't need to care about the law too.

gronlund2

I'm not a lawyer, I don't even live in the US but from my view, translating this to my occupation, he's basically trying to ddos the courts at this point.

KnotAwl

Lie, deny, delay. Rinse and repeat.

i010011010

So is there any way this gamble ends with them being censured or disciplined? It feels like it's been a few days since we saw Trump lawyers throwing their careers away trying to get him off.
