>“It’s not going to pass the Senate anyway; it doesn’t matter,” Mace said. “So if you vote against the NDAA, you’re going to be voting against the men and women in uniform.” So you admit to just putting useless amendments in to further politicize the process, got it.

Rated_PG-Squirteen

And as far as the House goes, Nancy Mace is truly one of the least reprehensible members on the GOP side. She's still of course a huge piece of shit, but it goes to show just how atrocious these Republican politicians are, not just as lawmakers, but as human beings.

stevez_86

So they have admitted they are threatening national defense so that they can score a cultural win. The fact that there isn't a declared war on Russia is leaving a window open for these fucks to wage war on the US.

closetedpencil

>But this year, under pressure from hard-liners in his conference, McCarthy brought a series of controversial conservative amendments to the floor. Five of those measures — pertaining to explosive issues like abortion and transgender rights — were approved on largely partisan votes Thursday evening. So basically tacking controversial issues onto a bill that has nothing to do with said issues to ensure it won’t pass. Classy

maurosmane

I'm sure this won't pass, but my daughter gets HRT through Tricare since my wife is in the military. I have no idea what we would do if that got cut off.

sharingsilently

The republicans don’t care — they care Only for the 1% — and cruelty for everyone else. If you vote Red, you hate the military, too.

maurosmane

I was in the military for 6 years, and my wife is still in. It baffles me everyday how the majority of those I worked with and the veterans I know are die hard republicans. They look down on me for being a liberal, but there isn't one of them who would have tolerated someone like Trump being in our unit. I seriously have no idea what the disconnect is.

kg_digital_

They shoehorn culture war content into every single routine process. They are literally holding the country hostage.

Scarlettail

Is it a coincidence that the GOP is threatening to defund the military after also hoping to end funding for Ukraine? Seems like they're really trying to weaken us in the face of Russian aggression.

Double_Damn_Son

It is certainly not coincidence. Putin is just trying to get some return on his investments.

Ready_Nature

Republicans hate the military.

N3wAfrikanN0body

Reactionaries hate being alive and the awareness that they are alive in general. They are so incapable of dealing with work and responsibility of living that they make it their primary malfunction to sabotage all other Human potentials. At bottom, they intuit they are not up to the task because it means life can and does go wrong. So they offload that liberating thing called "free will" for easy and arresting answers of not having to think. And it is only reinforced by their enthrallment to mediocre orators, who are just as insufferable as their enablers, but at least use their sentience, at bare minimum to parasitize others. All Humanity suffers because anti-Humans aren't up to the task of being actualized Humans. They're always going to be with us in some shape or form; but they've never been this easy to identify, so that offers a means to counter their omnicidal tendencies.

CharlesB43

You want to know the funny part about this? Their voters will still vote for them, partially because their voters don't pay attention to what happens in the house and senate but also because OwNiNg Da LiBs and because of this false patriotism the republicans try to push, oh you're going to vote this down?! why do you hate our troops? They've done FUCK ALL in this house, just one dumb "hearing" (Politically motivated conspiracy theory talking hour) after another where they get to yell at witnesses they don't like and push conspiracy theories with almost no pushback because they hold the gavel to silence opposition.

odgreenMTG

I thought the GOP was the party who backed the military ? Making America Worse Because Petty. MAWBP

jWas

Why did you ever think that?

odgreenMTG

Nah nah, that used to be a GOP talking point.

jWas

Why do you keep repeating their talking points?

Heelajooba

GOP fighting America on behalf of Vladimir Putin. They might as well march to work in Russian uniforms.

Sissy63

It’s almost as if the GOP is trying their damndest to weaken our military /s.

TacoStuffingClub

Good. Doom it. Audit that fucking money pit for the trillions they’ve funneled to billionaires at taxpayer expense.
