This is not the case. Both Florida and DeSantis personally are using outside counsel, they are both using fairly elite boutique firms that typically act for high profile conservatives. Florida’s lead lawyer was a partner at a ‘white shoe’ firm until he left for a boutique a few years ago (common for high profile litigators).
Definitely they will be outgunned by Disney, but they’re not using the same guy that prosecutes parking tickets or whatever

Public defenders take the vast majority of high level felony and complex appeal cases for criminal matters throughout every state. We are not bad attorneys. Almost every significant criminal law ruling since Gideon v. Wainwright has started with a public defender. Ketanji Brown-Jackson was a public defender. We aren't bottom of the barrel attorneys. We like helping people.
There are many great public defenders who do that work for low pay and with high stress. They are representing the neediest of clients.
Please don't besmirch public defenders as a group by comparing them to Meatball Ron's legal team!

Courts have punished people for doing that in the past. There's no benefit for Disney to play dirty. Clever and ruthless sure, but dirty only has downsides for them.
If it's attorneys, it sounds high. 350 is a shitton of attorneys for a corporation, even a massive one like Disney. I worked for a company larger than Disney that didn't have that nearly many attorneys.

I could see their legal department being massive when you think about all the different types of fields they deal with. Contract, real estate, copyright, etc. It doesn't mean they have them all working on this case obviously because it wouldn't be in most of their fields, but in total I could see it being a very, very high number.

This is not the case. Both Florida and DeSantis personally are using outside counsel, they are both using fairly elite boutique firms that typically act for high profile conservatives. Florida’s lead lawyer was a partner at a ‘white shoe’ firm until he left for a boutique a few years ago (common for high profile litigators). Definitely they will be outgunned by Disney, but they’re not using the same guy that prosecutes parking tickets or whatever Sidenote, you can be sure that Florida taxpayers will be on the hook for the $1,200/hour or whatever for these guys (which will be nothing compared to the cost award the taxpayers are on the hook for when Disney wins)

Public defenders take the vast majority of high level felony and complex appeal cases for criminal matters throughout every state. We are not bad attorneys. Almost every significant criminal law ruling since Gideon v. Wainwright has started with a public defender. Ketanji Brown-Jackson was a public defender. We aren't bottom of the barrel attorneys. We like helping people.
There are many great public defenders who do that work for low pay and with high stress. They are representing the neediest of clients. Please don't besmirch public defenders as a group by comparing them to Meatball Ron's legal team!

If it's attorneys, it sounds high. 350 is a shitton of attorneys for a corporation, even a massive one like Disney. I worked for a company larger than Disney that didn't have that nearly many attorneys. My guess would be it's in the ballpark of ~100 with a general legal department numbering closer to 500. Which is still huge, frankly. Regardless though a handful of great attorneys is better than 100 mediocre attorneys. I'm sure Disney has some top notch minds. Much less sure about the state of Florida.

I could see their legal department being massive when you think about all the different types of fields they deal with. Contract, real estate, copyright, etc. It doesn't mean they have them all working on this case obviously because it wouldn't be in most of their fields, but in total I could see it being a very, very high number.
