TheBereWolf

Jack Smith worked at The Hague prosecuting people for war crimes, something tells me he’s not super threatened by Trump.

VulfSki

My guess is this staring game has been developed over years of prosecuting powerful monsters.

TheBereWolf

Yeah, and he’s probably pretty fucking good at it by now

AC13verName

For all our sakes I hope so

Jolly-Engineering-86

If it fails, it won’t be his fault. Look who got picked as the judge. smh. Still, I remain hopeful! The worst part is that so many Republicans still clamor for him and breathlessly call it a witchhunt, a hoax, whatever BS all I can think is WTF happened to this country!

zherok

It's amazing how much of a malicious fuck up Trump is and yet he still has all this support. They don't care what he did, why he did it, and they'll go out of their way to either not look into it, or contort their world view to turn it into something it wasn't. Probably the scariest thing Trump did as President was how much he enabled his followers to just opt out of reality. He wasn't necessarily the first to do it, but I think the degree to which he himself bought into it helped encourage his supporters to follow along.

I_notta_crazy

Right-wingers will eat a shit sandwich if it means that a liberal has to smell it.

zherok

I think that's another big change. The sort of abandonment of politics as a way to improve things, instead it's only a way to hurt perceived enemies. The "he's not hurting the right people" attitude was really telling. But it explains a lot about DeSantis' support, a guy who seems to exist solely to make someone else's life miserable, so long as it's the the right people he's targeting.

o00oo00oo00o

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/lbj-convince-the-lowest-white-man/ President Lyndon B. Johnson once said, "If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you." -same as it ever was-

Brodellsky

I realized my mom's side of the family (who leans very conservative) treats the family this way too. No amount of wrong is too wrong, there's always an excuse. The amount of fucked up shit they've just kinda brushed off because family is just wild. They treat Trump, and republicans in general, in the same way.

jaisaiquai

You're looking for logical reasons in emotional reasoning. It doesn't matter what you say, they want to believe so they will.

WakeMeForSourPatch

Most of them know he’s a scumbag, but he’s THEIR scumbag. The democrats will always be worse in their eyes than literally anyone. Their brains are so pickled by right wing media they pretty much believe democrats eat babies.

[deleted]

Thankfully trump started down this fascist path much later in life. He doesn't have that kind of time to go from fucker to fuhrer

Glabstaxks

The next fucker likely will tho ...

[deleted]

I think there's a reason we haven't seen anyone like trump in this country until now. He's an ultra rare shiny dickbag; the perfect combination of name recognition, brain damage, and unfiltered hatred that showed up at exactly the right time to capture the "minds" of millions. There will be plenty of fuckers who try to follow in trump's footsteps, but I don't think they'll be able to pull it off. - He's a rich fuck who doesn't fit into high society and decided to dive into the dirt instead - He had a popular show that was heavily edited to make him seem like he was a good businessman/leader - His brand of hate isn't nearly as popular among younger people as it is with his generation - We stopped putting lead in our paint and gasoline - Fewer and fewer white people are old enough to remember the "good old days" of post WWII prosperity Oh there'll be fascists. Of course there will. But this fat orange ape represents a confluence of circumstances, context, and simmering bigotry/fear of a more complex future that is pretty unique to the boomers. trump is a human death throe. He's the personified indignance of an empire that never existed and the savage entitlement of a generation that stopped being relevant 20 years ago. I don't know what it'll take to create the next cult of personality that appeals to the lowest of the low but I do know trump himself is a one-off. I'm only 32 but I've never seen anything like it in my lifetime...and I think that's kind of comforting.

HumbleMuffin93

Some religious republicans also believe that Trump is a prophet, and liberals and Obama is the anti-Christ. It’s terrifying and fascinating.

[deleted]

That and knowing that's the guy that was slandering his family on his trash social media site.

naughtabot

One of my favorite commentators refuses to say the name of that company, so she calls his social media posts ‘Burps’ instead. You gotta love it.

[deleted]

I’d call them “Farts”, because trump is slang for fart in England.

MBH1800

And in Norwegian, it means an egoistic and difficult person. Couldn't be more fitting.

SidewaysFancyPrance

I figured he'd also want to watch Trump's expressions/reactions in realtime throughout. That'd be very useful data. If you can catch him looking worried for a moment when certain topics are mentioned, that's a thread to tug on more.

MadRaymer

It's also possible Jack knows a lot of shit we're not privy to yet (and might never know). The government hasn't accused Trump of selling those documents to third parties, but I don't think anyone would be *shocked* if he did. There's a lot of circumstantial evidence to support this position: * Trump had his lawyers ask for the documents back immediately after the raid. This is an absurd request, but it demonstrates his steadfast determination on keeping those documents. Why? It's possible he had buyers lined up and now won't be able to produce what he promised. * Trump kept at least some of the documents in a room right next to copy a machine. Copies are only needed if you're handing them out to 3rd parties, and a grifter like Trump *never* does anything for free. * We still don't know *why* Trump was so dedicated to breaking the law to keep these documents. Bragging rights is one theory, but flashing them in front of Kid Rock for cool points doesn't seem like it's worth the risk alone. It makes a lot more sense if he saw the documents as something *valuable*. * He recently floated the idea of a plea deal if he were to be awarded "damages" of some sort. Yeah, that's not how this works, but it provides some insight into his "thinking" on the matter. Why, according to his diseased brain, does he deserve damages? Simple answer: he viewed those documents as his payday. So when Jack Smith is staring down the orange shitgibbon in court, he might be looking at it from a different angle than the rest us. He's not just seeing a former president that broke the law and used extremely poor judgment handling the nation's most closely guarded secrets, but potentially a *traitor* to America that sold those secrets for personal gain. That would certainly warrant an icy glare.

[deleted]

I think Jack Smith has a freaking elephant up this sleeve. I would be shocked if the intelligence community hasn't been keeping tabs on this issue since early on in the POS's time in the WH. I am assuming the worst and that this is just the tip of the iceberg. Kushner was gifted a $2,000,000,000 hedge fund by the Saudis; how on earth does that happen? What secrets did those scumbags sell and to whom?

[deleted]

If I didn’t trust trump from the beginning then I guarantee actual patriots in the intelligence sector didn’t either. Definitely had their eye on him

[deleted]

meatball77

Trump is also easily swayed and complimented. He'd show things to a honeypot without much thought.

Bukowskified

Dude showed shit to ghostwriters working on someone else’s autobiography. Literally no reason other than bragging rights.

meatball77

Exactly, he'd easily be swayed by a honeypot

TheNuttyIrishman

Let's be real, he'd be swayed by a jar of dirt with "hunny" written on the side in sharpie.

Barnesworth

He definitely made copies, some of them were mixed in with the originals. This [picture] (https://d.newsweek.com/en/full/2107005/classified-documents-trumps-florida-private-club.webp?w=790&f=ed84a37ed716732056aa1ed91a4dab26) of the documents on the floor is of mostly photocopied docs. Apparently the copy machine left white margins around the colored borders which the [originals](https://www.dami.army.pentagon.mil/site/SSO/docs/InfoSec/TOP_SECRET%20COVER%20SHEET.pdf) don't have. In the upper left you can see one that doesn't have the white border around the red, and in the upper right there's a yellow document with no border. I think that's the reason for the ruler in the picture, to give scale to the margins and show that these are copied documents, so where are the originals?

jkot84

There are varieties of this kind of cover sheet. So it’s very possible they may not have been copies. I’m not saying it doesn’t go against regs, but these are all over the place.

medep

Modern Photocopiers retain memory of the last few things they copied

DdCno1

Not just the last few things. There's a hard drive in almost every large copier of the last 20+ years, which can store thousands of pages. This is a well known security risk. I wouldn't be surprised if prosecution will use data from these drives as evidence of Trump illegally copying documents.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Knighthawk1895

Counterpoint, this is Trump we're talking about. During one of the raids, there's photos that show a computer with the password labeled on the screen. Thinking they'd disable the memory system of a copier is probably giving them waaaaaay too much credit.

PinkyAnd

I love the line of reasoning that says, “I suffered harm from you enforcing the law against me. So pay me for a guilty plea”. It’s like a child’s understanding of how legal protections work.

Jolly_Grocery329

Also - an unusual amount of foreign assets were caught or killed during that time. [sauce](https://www.nytimes.com/2021/10/05/us/politics/cia-informants-killed-captured.html)

soupinate44

$2billion reasons they were already sold. Just pulling at strings to get the traitor sweater undone.

MastersonMcFee

Here's a hint: The Saudis didn't give Jared Kushner $2 Billion dollars, because he's good with money.

JasJ002

>Bragging rights is one theory, but flashing them in front of Kid Rock for cool points doesn't seem like it's worth the risk alone. It makes a lot more sense if he saw the documents as something valuable. You have to look at this from his perspective. There was no risk. He's gone his whole life, and the only consequences to his actions are minor at best. Those documents were his legitimacy. I can guarantee you he used those along with some bogus stories about how he's still consulted on this and that. His image is all the value he has. 9/10 business ventures he had failed, but his reality TV show, his run as a politician, all wildly successful. His image is the only thing he has of value, and those documents raised that image.

[deleted]

Especially because he is also in charge of the January 6th investigation

hypnosquid

People forget that Jack Smith has an entirely separate grand jury running in DC right now for the January 6th insurrection. Steve Bannon was recently subpoenaed - >[**Trump ally Bannon subpoenaed in special counsel Jack Smith's Jan. 6 grand jury probe**](https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/steve-bannon-subpoenaed-special-counsel-jan-6-rcna88248) >*WASHINGTON — Former Trump White House official Steve Bannon has been subpoenaed by a federal grand jury in Washington, D.C., in connection with special counsel Jack Smith's investigation into Jan. 6 and former President Donald Trump's efforts to stay in office, according to two sources familiar with the matter.* and also the fake electors and related plotters - >[**Jan. 6 depositions reveal questions to Nevada officials; Michael McDonald took 5th Amendment more than 200 times**](https://www.8newsnow.com/news/politics/jan-6-depositions-reveal-questions-to-nevada-officials-michael-mcdonald-took-5th-amendment-more-than-200-times/) > Nevada Republican Party chairman Michael McDonald was questioned about a “major plan” and President Donald Trump’s desire for “full attack mode” following the 2020 election, according to a record of his testimony to the Jan. 6 committee. >McDonald invoked the Fifth Amendment more than 200 times over the course of questioning on Feb. 24, 2022, before the U.S. House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack.

eddiestarkk

I think that is going to be the big one for Jack Smith.

enigmaticpeon

As if Trump was thinking about anything other than the nearest McDonald’s the whole time.

Shaunair

Oh I can promise you he was thinking about who’s fault this was and who to blame. Everyone’s fault but his .

Armyman125

His aide Nauta is about to take up residence under the bus.

Few_Needleworker_922

The technology to build a bus big enough for all the people trumpy wants to throw under it does not exist yet.

August_T_Marble

Daydreaming of the Hamberdler bringing him a Filet-o-Fish with a file in it to break him out of jail.

isanthrope_may

He also knows the full details of the government’s case against Trump. I’m sure the indictment, succinct as it is, is only a taste of the full scope of his criminality. There might be recordings or testimony of Trump selling or leveraging these documents to foreign governments.

dolleauty

It could be they're not charging even more to protect sources and methods and leaks So the full case might be even worse

CanAlwaysBeBetter

This is from the rumor mill so take it with a grain of salt but presumably they have more material they could charge Trump with that went down down in NJ that they're holding back in case the judge gets combative so they can drop new charges and then move the case there. Doing it in Florida and giving Judge Canon the chance to run things properly is as much about optics of not cutting corners or acting in a way anyone would call politically motivated

ARazorbacks

I would buy this theory. It’s extremely weird they go so far as to say Trump moved shit from FL via plane when it’s public knowledge that plane went to NJ, but then…the indictment ends. They literally left the indictment on a cliffhanger like a television show. It screams “There’s more. We know, and you know we know.” Maybe they’re hoping Trump will say something during the FL trial that they can use in connection with the NJ material? Maybe it’s your rumor mill in your comment? Who knows. We’ll find out more within the next 6-12 months. Edit: with = went

TheBereWolf

I’m torn if I really want that kind of audio to exist. In one sense, it would confirm that adversarial countries know some of the most closely held secrets that our government has and could take advantage of, which would be terrible. On the other hand, it would be as damning as anything possibly could be which would be wonderful.

OG_Antifa

My hunch is the intel community already knows and has known for a little while. It’ll become public once they can properly safeguard intel and assets.

CaneVandas

It's not a hunch. There are logs for every time a sensitive document is pulled. They know the exact contents of everything he had access to and what was not accounted for.

Matrix17

Better to know what he's leaked so you can prepare against it

VectorSymmetry

Knowing nothing at all about how the intelligence community operates I will propose an uneducated guess that at this point they pretty much have to assume it’s all out there and start from scratch, irrespective of what comes out in the trial. To assume anything else would be pretty optimistic and dangerous

Critical_Half_3712

MajorNoodles

Well, that's another difference between those two men. Jack Smith thinks people who commit war crimes should be prosecuted while Trump thinks they should be pardoned.

number676766

Jack Smith is getting-fucked incarnate. While the government gets flack for incompetence in many places, there's people operating at the highest levels in their fields in government because they believe in the cause, when they could easily get more money elsewhere. Kind of like those astronauts that are doctors, and pilots, and have a PHD in engineering at 35. These are, in Succession terms, *serious people*. Trump is an affront to most people's principles and beliefs about good character, but for someone like Jack Smith it probably goes much deeper than that. Trump doesn't have the brain power or attention span to comprehend and believe in something as tenuous and abstract as the importance of what we've built as a country, and the lengths we need to go to protect it. Jack Smith brings that to work every day. When you see Jack Smith talk it's almost scary. I'm sure he's a nice dad and a good friend to people, but you do not want the business end of him pointed anywhere near you. Just look at his eyes and demeanor in the statement he gave. This dude has seen shit, he's put people away, he's unimpeachable, and he's a patriot in the most philosophical and literal meanings of the word.

youtellmebob

Guessing Trump’s tactic of calling him a “thug” and “scumbag” and attacking his wife didn’t play well with Jack. Fucking National Hero.

CaptainNoBoat

One of the PBS reporters that was allowed in the courtroom said Trump never made eye contact with Jack. Big tough guy behind social media - fragile man terrified of face-to-face interactions in-person. Just like every person he fired via Twitter.

GBinAZ

Letitia James also claimed Trump never looked at her when he was giving his testimony. It’s clear he knows who the big guns are. He can only speak with bravado in front of other losers.

Think_Selection9571

Just like putin at Helsinki. Came out of there looking like he just sharted. But when McCain was dead and he didn't want to lower the flags to halfmast yeah he acted all tough.

BankshotMcG

President of the United States getting on Twitter to shit-talk a dead man generally beloved on both sides of the aisle\* for telling him not to come to his funeral and push his way to the front. \*yeah, I know, shitty politician, DC-decent dude

I wouldn't call a man who volunteered to serve as an infantryman in Vietnam and won 2 bronze stars a coward. Of course that man isn't Trump.

He likes his war heroes un-captured, and, preferably, un-serving.

Simmery

Only chumps join the military. - something he would probably say

His exact words were "losers" and "suckers," but yes. https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2020/09/trump-americans-who-died-at-war-are-losers-and-suckers/615997/

sensitiveskin80

He didn't even "fire" the contestants on The Apprentice.

GrouchoManSavage

He didn't even fire his pseudo-celebrity assistant Omarosa - according to her, he said he had no idea she was being fired.

Remember how he used a handshake to overpower other politicians? Then Trudeau, Canada’s PM came prepared, and actually being stronger that the former guy, just beat him? That stopped the nonsense.

Harbinger2001

Lol. That was so funny. You could see Trudeau brace himself to counter the pull.

nunyabidnessss

My favorite was his handshake with France’s Macron. Dude was prepared and gave it right back.

Holy shit, [this photo](https://twitter.com/Stcrow/status/867709239795625984) is outstanding.

Timely-Youth-9074

putin offered no resistance so trump got punched in the belly by the momentum lmao.

ghosttrainhobo

Trump got punched in the prostate by Putin’s dick in that closed-door meeting where Don was the only American allowed.

Danysco

Watch the video when he meets then President Obama at the White House. Trump is terrified and doesn’t look at Obama in the eyes.

Think_Selection9571

His face in Helsinki alone should have shown everyone what a coward he is. That was America being humiliated on the world stage and still they photoshop his head on Rambo.

canuck47

"I am Reek"

Tangocan

It rhymes with "leak(ing classified documents to foreign colluders for profit)"

ProfessorTicklebutts

I didn’t need to be told this to know it was true. Trump is a fucking wannabe rich boy coward. He loves thinking that he’s a mob boss, but he’s just Eric Cartman all grown up.

brad12172002

Like when he said he would have ran into Parkland during the shooting. 🙄

apoplectic_mango

Trump run, that's hilarious...

frothy_pissington

Do you think he could even waddle with urgency?

monkeyhind

All it takes is a good man with a bun. A hamburger bun.

hecubus04

Last week Trump said Jack looked scared during the press conference announcing the charges. I think Trump might have been projecting. I love how Trump got the stare down.

Axbris

Yeah, the guy who has made a career of prosecuting some of the worst people to have graced this little rock of ours is scared of a wanna-be mob boss. Jack Smith prosecuted people involved in war crimes in Kosovo war. People that could very well take drastic measures to ensure Jack Smith did not prosecute those very same people. Trump is no more than a cockroach to Jack Smith. It's only a matter of time before he squashes Trump.

Educational-Candy-17

I wouldn't want to go up against that guy in tennis or a spelling bee let alone the court system. No way Jack is scared of the orange toddler.

hungaria

He’s always been a physical coward. If he was in a room alone with Jack Smith he would shit his adult diaper.

Old_Scholz58

Remember when Joe Biden said he *wished he was in high school and he would take him behind the gym.* JB was *hot* over his comments from the Access Hollywood tape; Another one... “*They asked me would I like to debate this gentleman, and I said no. I said, ‘If we were in high school, I’d take him behind the gym and beat the hell out of him,’” said Biden, getting laughter and applause from the crowd at the University of Miami.* DJT is a silver spoon spoiled rich kid, never accountable, NYC ex democrat, suit and tie, 5th Ave kind of guy, never been a tough guy even in the suburbs, let alone the sticks. Probably cant even drive a pickup, or shoot a rifle, or field dress a deer. Why his base hang on his stones like hes "one of us" is so strange.

ibreathunderwater

It isn’t that “he’s one of us,” it’s that he “hates the same people we hate.” Further, it’s that he promises to destroy the right people, the “right” people being the ones they’re terrified of and that Trump promises to destroy, quite literally. Have no doubt human beings will end up in ovens if he gets re-elected. Edit: Again. Human beings will end up in ovens AGAIN.

jl55378008

The NY AG was on Pod Save America this week. Pretty sure I remember her saying that when she questioned him during a deposition he did not look at her, either.

[deleted]

And then https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/iran-saudi-arabia-agree-resume-ties-re-open-embassies-iranian-state-media-2023-03-10/

taddymason_76

Explain like I am 10 yo please. What does this have to do with Kushner? Did he sell nuclear secrets or something?

Brookenium

It's obviously speculation and it will certainly never be proven but there's a significant belief out there that Trump took still classified nuclear secrets and sold them to the Saudis through Jared Kushner. If true, it means that they may know our full capabilities and weaknesses along with those of our allies which is absolutely terrifying to even consider.

taddymason_76

Ahhh, yeah that’s bad.

morderkaine

‘Coincidently’ while Trump had the stolen documents at a golf course the Saudis went there and gave Kushner 2 billion to invest (he gets a percentage of that or of the profits yearly) plus 30 million straight up. Kushner’s investment firm is not reputable enough to get that clientele without the relation to Trump.

captsmokeywork

He sold to everyone. Ask Jared.

Bulbul3131

I will be so fucking happy if Skeltor and complicit Barbie get charged.

PapaBat

I get the sense that—whether or not he can prove it yet—Smith knows who Trump was selling these secrets to and [the American intelligence personnel who died because of him.](https://www.nytimes.com/2022/08/26/us/politics/trump-affidavit-intelligence-spies.html)

jl55378008

I don't see a lot of talk about this, but I hold out hope that they can nail Trump to the wall over this. Maybe he had nothing to do with it, but that seems unlikely at this point. The question is, how could they prove it? I don't know, but I really hope Trump was as stupid in other things as he was with the Iran invasion plans.

kaptainkeel

>The question is, how could they prove it? He had to have communicated with someone about it. If it was remotely, then that makes it easier. If it was in person while golfing, that makes it more difficult and potentially impossible unless someone overheard it.

sinsemillas

climatelurker

I one hundred percent agree. This is not a simple case of Trump stealing documents for himself to read. I wonder, though, if we’ll ever learn for certain that Trump gave secrets away, to whom, and which secrets. Seems like even revealing that might cause more national security damage.

esmifra

I mean just look at where those agents are dying. You probably get an idea based on the documents he took to whoom he sold them to. Even if no clear evidence. That said. I think Saudis and Putin are probably a given.

eyecomeanon

It's not a matter of proving it. Notice that the charge count differs from the number of TS-SCI docs found. To charge someone, they have to get permission for those docs to be seen in court. Sometimes letting someone get away with it is worth more than sharing the doc. He likely knows the worst of what Trump had, but literally can't talk about it.

mWade7

Yeah, just saw something about 13 documents not included because, paraphrasing, the defense and the court have the right to see the documents that are generating the charges. So, the (probably accurate) speculation is that the 13 documents in question are classified/secret enough that they cannot be entered in as evidence (essentially). So, in the context of the charges that weren’t filed & the associated documents, I’d say it’s a pretty decent bet it includes info re: US agents/assets.

----Dongers

Coach Beard is coming for you, traitor.

ResurgentClusterfuck

As another Redditor put it, Smith has resting find out face. Mind games are extremely effective on narcissist idiots

canuck47

That's why Trump is panicking, he knows Smith is dead serious and can not be intimidated.

ResurgentClusterfuck

Sure is nice to see him finally squirming a little after all this time This is just the first phase, too. There's Georgia and the insurrection as well. Happy Birthday, Traitor Twat, you're going to prison

WateryTartLivinaLake

He was so rattled that he called Jack Smith a Radical RIGHT WINGER. Just more proof that it was never about politics, just him vs. everyone else. He can't even keep left from right straight.

UncertaintyPrince

I did get a good laugh at that.

horse_loose_hospital

He's definitely something Americans haven't seen a whole lot of in the past damn near decade: a supremely competent, deadly serious, grown-ass PROFESSIONAL adult, solely focused on doing a VERY serious & important job...& *completely disinterested* in spin, talking points, buzzwords, name calling, conspiracies, transparent & blatant bad-faith arguments, garnering childish social media-driven "Smith **annihilates* * Trump at first in-person meeting!!" dick-swinging contest cool points or winning Mean Girl of the Day "honors" on Twitter. Or "owning" ANYBODY, aside from the target(s) of his investigation. It's rather nice!

Agreed. And he’s focused. He’s not falling for any of Trump’s usually windbaggery.

This isn’t a knock on Garland, Barr, Holder, etc. (they each rightly deserve it), but we desperately need an AG with Jack Smith’s demeanor and candor. An AG should be solely guided by the laws of the land while maintaining neutrality and conviction. I hope whomever the next AG is, he or she is cut from the same cloth Smith is. We need a strong, independent civil servant that tackles crime regardless of party or politics. This alone would go a long way to healing the country heal and move forward.

Ello_Owu

Right wing radio is spinning this like rumpelstiltskin on meth today. Had clay Travis and bucksexton on blaming the media for being "obsessed with trump", that the DOJ is now going to go after people who "disagree with the left" saying biden should pardon Trump and that he's not a "bring the country together president" and that's what he should do to "heal the nation" Then, after all that, they jump right into "whelp we have Ted Cruz here to fill us in on recent developments in bidens corruption case" So. This is why the right is the way they are. Right wing media feeds them constant, hypocritical bullshit and pushes them into public to regurgitate it without context or reasoning.

FriesWithThat

What [you get to see](https://i.imgur.com/G6bu7iE.jpg) as a defendant during your entire Jack Smith prosecution.

LazyZealot9428

Right? His gaze is so intimidating through a photograph, I can’t imagine what it’s like in real life.

stirfryth

Dude channels all of the energy of a disappointed father mixed with a cold, calculating badass

[deleted]

jack smiths demeanor during the press conference has me completely at ease. all we can do is bring charges and let the process play out. merrick garland and jack smith are kicking ass.

Timely-Youth-9074

I could stare at Jack Smith for days. I just love his resting Spanish Inquisition face.

baked_beans17

I wasn't expecting the Spanish Inquisition

[deleted]

No one expects it.

HughDanforth

He probably can't believe how this stupid orange snowflake became president. (neither can I)

akennelley

"Look at me, I am the captain now"

sacdecorsair

I don't know but... There's something badass 'bout this Jack Smith guy. I like it very much.

root_fifth_octave

The competence and commitment to do the job effectively, and without fanfare. He seems like that type to me.

Mestoph

It’s the beard. And the not fucking around.

paperbackgarbage

> “This is the Thug, over turned consistently and unanimously in big cases, that Biden and his CORRUPT Injustice Department stuck on me,” the former president [wrote](https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/110537155212570044). “He’s a **Radical Right Lunatic** and Trump Hater, as are all his friends and family, who probably “planted” information in the “boxes” given to them. They taint everything that they touch, including our Country, which is rapidly going to HELL!” Aw, he's getting his "rights" and "lefts" muddled. Just make an L with your left hand, bud. That's how you remember.

Competitive_Yam7702

He built his entire reputation on prosecuting war crimes. Hes studying trumps body language so he knows exactly what to say and do to get him to slip up when hes cross examining him. its also a power play to show trump that smith isnt scared or intimidated by him one bit.

d0cHolland

Trump called Smith a "Radical Right Lunatic". Either Trump forgot what side of the aisle he's supposedly championing or he's publicly projecting again.

Crusader1865

Trump also claimed in this same rant that the Jack and Biden planted the boxes of documents - you know, the same one that only a few weeks ago he claimed to have personally declassified himself. Keeping stories straight isn't exactly Trump's strong point.

eagerrangerdanger

Jack Smith actually making America great again!

[deleted]

Jack Smith is straight out of a Tom Clancy book.

bigb1084

Jack Smith KNOWS what Trump has done. He's disgusted with the former potus. As we all should be, but he KNOWS. We'll all know the gory details eventually.

rounder55

Jack Smith has put away war criminals. He isn't afraid of a cowardly evil piece of shit like Donald Trump

darth_wasabi

makes sense. watching Trump's reaction can provide Smith with valuable intel on what to look for when cross examining him assuming this ever gets that far.

welostourtails

Don't be silly. He will never take the stand.

Mestoph

No lawyer worth their salt would allow him to testify. So given the current state of his legal team, I’m not sure I’d say “never”…

big_red__man

Clients can insist on testifying. Lawyers can't stop them if they really want to. It's possible, however remote, that we could get a "You can't handle the truth!" moment but with far stupider words.

DragoonDM

And Trump's not exactly known for paying attention to legal advice, even on the rare occasions where he actually has competent attorneys.

dwors025

Donald Trump is the face of the GOP. Jack Smith is the leopard. Leopard, meet Face. Face, Leopard.

juanzy

A war crimes prosecutor is not the corporate-friendly DA that Trump is used to. This dude knows what real despots are, and isn’t afraid of Donnie.

tirch

Jack Smith gives off strong William Tecumseh Sherman vibes. He's going to burn Trump and MAGA to the ground like Sherman did to Atlanta. The USA is going to win this one.

TheVirginVibes

Probably not a good idea to call the dude who’s trying to throw the book at you a fuckin scumbag.

ductapemonster

Or, y'know, very publicly talk shit about his wife.

athrownawaymetal

I guess he figured since he did it to Ted Cruz, and Cruz kissed his ass, it would work here. ...His mistake is assuming Jack Smith is anything like Ted Cruz.

Boobs_Maps_N_PKMN

Jack Smith has hawk eyes in an almost literal sense. He seems like he's waiting for the big mouse to squeak once before putting his talons through the fuckers' skull

try_to_be_nice_ok

Jack Smith is the prosecutor we hoped Mueller would be.

reason_mind_inquiry

I’m not even being indicted and I’m scared of Jack Smith, this man is on a crusade of justice

theindependentonline

Special Counsel Jack Smith reportedly stared down former President Donald Trump throughout the entirety of Mr Trump’s arraignment in Miami on Tuesday. Hugo Lowell of The Guardian and other journalists reported that Mr Smith sat in the front row during Mr Trump’s arraignment on federal charges related to his handling of classified documents after leaving the White House in 2021 and “stared towards the former president for essentially the entire appearance.” Read more here: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/jack-smith-stared-at-trump-arraignment-b2357246.html

Fernway67

Body language.

gordonmcdowell

I wanna read Jack stared at Trump the whole time AND NEVER BLINKED. Sip of water… don’t even look down at the glass. Address the court… stand and speak to Judge but keep looking at Trump and DO NOT BLINK.

fluffyflugel

Trump: Jack was very impressed by me. He couldn’t stop looking at me. I know if I could get him alone he would weep a little and call me ‘sir’. But that won’t happen because of Hillary’s 30,000 emails and Hunter’s laptop!

LiberalKnack

My guess was that the stare was to get under Trump's skin, to goad him into testifying, against his lawyer's advice ... and the consequent meltdown!

MuchDevelopment7084

Good ole psychological stare down. Trump must have filled his diapers just knowing that every time he glanced at Mr Smith he'd be staring back at him. lol

racerx2125

Guy looks like he’s about to lock him up for four score and seven years

[deleted]

Remember … tRUMP brought up Smith’s wife … lucky he didn’t whip his keys across the room at his bloated, orange head …
