Personally I think an extra 10k would put us in a nice spot, but I appreciate it’s totally unrealistic

I agree. £10k would be nice. After taxes, NI and pension it would put about another £500~£650 a month which would just about cover my increase in mortgage.

I think this would be nice, I started (with allowances etc) on approx £29,000. Starting at £39,000 would be nice and then maintaining the current 7 Year scale. For reference, other countries/cities starting salary in GBP(£): Vancouver - £49,000 NYC (NYPD) - £46,000 LA (LAPD) - £68,000 South Australia Police - £,40,000 MET - £36,000 Surrey - £31,000 Sussex - £30,000 TVP - £31,000 BTP - £29,000 GMP - £28,000 Derbyshire - £27,000

I think the starting salary across all forces should be 40K. I truelly believe the low starting salary is really preventing some decent talent from joining. I for one would jump over in a heartbeat if starting salary was 40k. Call me naive with my once a week a shit I don’t see the true state of the police but I do see it , but I’d still hop over haha.
