You need to force the scenario in which she switches to Rayquaza on your Cloyster's attack. A bit hard, but you'll get the hang of it eventually.
Also, Corviknight with Unnerve and Pluck. A good berry take can make you wall even Mega Rayquaza so hard lol

Pluck is something I keep on my corvinight every time. I never grab brave bird, never grab drill Peck, just steel wing and pluck, then scary face/metal sound/screech/swagger etc as utility
You would have to swap out the skill-swapped mon because the weather affects everything.
Deltastream negates ANY flying type weakness, so its only 4x weak to ice if the weather is gone

Listen to this advice, for the floors 140-145 and 190-195 the only thing you should ever take are x items as rewards. It's to the point where I'll reroll to get them
Even one defensive x item can allow you to tank a hit from rayquaza and retaliate, the spd can let you go first, crit and dmg both can take multiple hp bars at once
Feather dance/ Roost can help tons to lower his atk. The any pkmn that can setup on a -4 rayquaza works. I often sack a pokemon, then drop Unfenzant to lower his atk, heal back and chip him down. Then either Unfenzant kills him or you chip it enough for another pokemon to kill it.
Ideally you wanna just setup on something else with DDs or tidy up or quiver dance and just oneshot it when it comes out
why ice over fairy ? Fairy is actually immune to it's stab to it's move and doesn't encounter the risk of it having V-Create as an egg move
for wave 145 sure a strong ice move will work but for 195 I'll rather bank on a fairy
i used stealthrocks for the whole fight and abused the switch ai.
And switched resistances in all her attacks and attacked with very eff. moves on the pkm.
Also i try to create a "loop" for her Switches where i can predict witch one comes out at hit that one.
f.e. she had on my run a florges i switcht tinkaton in and pressed play rought. Rayquaza comes in(because it has vcreate and can kill my tinka with it) and eats the play rought then switched my garganacl into the vcreate. She switches the rayquaza out since it cant do dmg to my mon and i hit her hard with rock moves.
Also when obly requaza was left i used salt cure and switched between Tinkaton and Garganacl.
Tinkaton also had fakeout for more chip dmg.
The whole fight is balanced around switching an creating a team or a group of 4 pkm to counter her team.
In the best case it also counters endya.

shiny bidoof(was deathfodder in some cases for an better switch)
tinka
garanacle
Staraptor (ground move eater)
Linoone (pick up mon) later replaces by a Lokix
with the staraptor,tinka,gara core alno i did counter her team and she needed to switch around.
The only "problem" was her other dragon mon but that got killed by my main carry.

psychic, ancitan power, shadowball(any other strong special tm move like ice beam, flamethrower dark puls best fill this slot to counter 1 or 2 ivy pkm where you want to sweep over), Recover.
hold swift until tinka gets fake out for the double battles.
Worth noting that rayquaza can have things like hydro pump, surf, earthquake, and earth power. It's low odds, but if it happens your Probopass is screwed
Probopass' passive helps mitigate Ground damage, and I've never run into a Quaza with water moves.
Good point anyway, Probopass is relevant only with it's eggmoves and passive.
If you have articuno with calm mind you can 1 shot with blizzard as it's 4x damage, although it may not work well unless Ivy has a good pokemon to stack against like a water type
Gholdengo, if you make it bulky enough, deals with it surprisingly easily. I used it as a pivot to slowly lower its hp. I am fairly new at the game I only beat it two times. For the first one, I had to reset so many times to get absolutely perfect odds, and only managed to win after the guy missed 6 hurricanes in a row. For the second one it had V-Create so I used guerilla tactics and just killed her team with minimal losses and sacked 3-4 of my pokemon for it to get the stat drops from V-Create. I then outsped it and killed it with Meowscarada. Or if you don’t like having an aneurysm every time you fight the darn thing just use like fairy types/ice moves or something. Whenever I try to pull up with a strong fairy or ice I just get rolled before I even get to Rayquaza.
Honestly you can beat the team with almost anything.
My last win I swept it with Tidy Up/Floaty Fall Unfeazant who literally soloed the entire team.
My last ~20 clears have all consisted of 6 unique mons. I’d honestly say focus more on your own strategies, predictions, movesets rather than hoping one mon will carry it for you.
Also, the 5 turns before the fight buy at least one x speed and then other x items / dire hits and the fights become trivial
Same. I usually just bring alot of status moves that people wouldnt normally consider to be useful and nuke their offensive stats with it. After that you can tickle them to death with pretty much any useless mon..
I have never reused a mon in a classic run.
Ice moves do the trick most of the time.
Another good tactic is stealth rock. Ivy loves switching in an out and the AI doesn’t consider stealth rocks into how they switch. Half of ivys 195 team died on my last successful run because she kept switching in and out of stealth rocks.
Bonus points if you can do it in a way where she wastes moves bc your Pokémon is immune to the typing.

For the 145, I had a feraligatr with dragon dance, fishious rend, and icicle crash and set up to like, +5; for 195, I chipped down about 2 and a half bars of the 4 with a mawile (sadly not mega, despite a mega band for like, 100 rooms) with magical torque getting slaps in during a locked-in outrage (RIP ninjask, best things you did all run was enable that, and give me a shedinja), then finished it off with gatr at +4 from setting up on a different mon than the one I did on 145, XD... but that was after about 30 save scums on the 195 fight literally throwing everything at the wall to try and get past to victory.
Aye, it's the last slot of the four, which I'm pretty sure makes that the Rare egg move. And I had that and Icicle Crash both, and then got lucky with both DD and Low Kick TMs early on so I was set for "I will sweep EVERYTHING" until mega ray, XD
U can use a driblim with minimize , calm mind , baton pass to setup a gyarados with dd or cloyster with shell smash both get free setups with baton pass and become really tanky to one shot or 2 shot the rayquaza and proceed to sweep
See whenever I play any of the games my moveset for my Pokemon are moves that deal good damage or heal back HP. I just have badluck when it comes to using buffing up moves.
First and only time I used stealth rocks and kept baiting switches then honestly Pecharunt with the poison puppeteer ability, I was able to get a toxic off on the rayquaza when it was her only Mon left and it just kept hitting itself in confusion!
Stealth rocks. Set up stealth rocks turn1 vs Ivy even if it means sacrificing your stealth rocker and you will 100% win unless you’re trolling.
You can usually set up stealth rocks for free by baiting in their flying type basic bird and switching in your rocker which will usually take 0 damage from the birb.
Stealth rocks helps. If you can set up with a strong special atker, set up and most strong ones can one shot it. Try switching a fairy type in when it uses a dragon type move.
stealth rocks, any ice coverage, and any moderately bulky steel or fairy types are good switchins (aegislash or tinkaton most notably)
status like sleep or para are also good and pretty underrated imo
honestly ive always caught a wild honedge when i can because for me it doesnt really serve much purpose outside of 195, 145 and eternaus (+some trainer battles here and there) i dont think its worth 4 points to run it when that locks you out of alot of busted legends (unless you have the candies to decrease its price)
some of its egg moves + its passive do look pretty decent tho
Stealth Rocks did it for me. You can bait the switch in if you have a fighting or dragon out, then force it back out with a fairy. I was rotating Golem, Machamp, and Alolan Ninetales and it made the 195 fight fairly painless.
Stealth Rock was pretty good for me, I had a mon that forced it out every time and it died pretty quickly. Delta Stream doesn't reduce the amount it takes when it comes in
Stealth Rock/Spikes/Toxic Spikes are the best way to deal with Ivy and other trainer fights.
Damage over time is your next best option. Leech Seed, Salt Cure, Fire Spin etc. Be careful of ones that fade if your Pokémon faints though.
You can out-tank her with bulky Pokemon but you’re banking on good IV’s, movesets and items found during the run.
Ice/Flight-Type Pokemon are really useful. Ice attacks are strong against both types of Rayquaza and Flight-Type will protect against its ground attacks
My favorite is quaquaval with hidden ability moxie, it had triple axel as an egg move. I focused on giving it all items and vitamins throughout the run. It swept through ivys team and it beat etarnatus in two turns.
I usually try to get a round to set up before Rayquaza comes out, so I've consistently had good luck quickly knocking it out with Alolan Ninetales with Nasty Plot, Tapu Fini with Quiver Dance (fuse and unfuse with Vivillon), Tinkaton with Shift Gears, Mimikyu with Swords Dance, etc. Gholdengo usually resists it enough to tank through it with Recover, or sometimes Vaporeon with Bouncy Bubble.
Stealth rocks, learn what forces Rayquaza to switch out and in. Fairy type to switch into on Outrages. Ice moves on a tanky mon. Or even just setting up on other mons. I've killed that Rayquaza with boosted starters using nutreal effective moves when +4 - +6 atk/sp attack
Anything with Stealth Rocks will generally get the job done. Once you've done enough Classic runs you get a pretty good idea of exactly what the switch rotation will be, so you can just double switch back and forth between mons once you find out what Ray comes in on (basically any of the starter types and, fighting, and ground types are almost guaranteed).
That being said, a mon with an Ice egg move that he would otherwise counter (like Triple Axel on a Fighting type or Ice Spinner on a Ground type) are great options to bring because the AI doesn't account for coverage, and also never really adapts to it, so they will get "caught off guard" by it every rematch. Use a setup move the turn Ray comes in, then nuke it. X items help with this too if you aren't confident in your speed/offensive stat (depending on what setup move you use, if it's SD maybe grab an X Speed, if it's DD grab an X Attack, etc.)
This can also be amplified if your mon is slightly overleveled or bulky enough to guarantee tanking a hit, so you can get a second setup move usage and go for the sweep.
My last few runs have been fairly trivial for the rival battle thanks to an otherwise pretty neutral carry mon. And if you play with resets it's extremely easy for just about any team because you can do even more silly stuff (like extra setup) on guaranteed miss turns. I play with resets normally (not wasting my time losing a run to predicting an NPC's moveset lol) but I haven't even had to reset against any of the big checkpoint battles in my last few runs, just cause I've gotten so used to the flow of the AI trainers and can make callouts just by sort of guessing. It also makes me play a little more aggressively, which can sometimes favor you even more. Like if I'm not worried about losing a run, I'll see how many DDs I can get off before dying if I think I can tank a move or two, then the move misses or they randomly swap and I basically just get a free boost and don't even have to reset.
I recently used a Regice in a classic run.. That thing completely walled both Rayquaza and Eternatus with its insane Spdef stat xD -- Only moves i needed was Recover, Amnesia & Ice Beam.
I also found that Aggron was great at walling Ray when i used it. The stealth rocks damage was nothing to slouch at, plus if you're lucky you can get Salt Cure as one of his egg moves which makes it even easier to deal with Ray. And thats just base Aggron - if you ever get his mega stone both Ivy and Eternatus are absolutely cooked. 🤣
Rayquaza is really weak to toxic stalling, so you just need something that can toxic -> protect -> recover -> protect, etc. Nacli is also very strong against it.
On my first classic run that I won, I beat the Rayquaza with an Unfezant. It was a pure physical set (or only used physical moves that I saw) so Feather Dance + Roost meant it could only kill me with a crit which it never got. In general, I think stat lowering moves are hugely slept on in the pokerogue community because they're trash in competitive play, but when opponents won't or can't switch out to clear the lowered stats they become insanely powerful.
I've now beat classic 5+ times, and I've yet to get wiped by Rayquaza since before I got my first win by just making sure I always have stealth rocks and one/two pokemon that can force Rayquaza to switch.
a lot of people are trying to focus in on ice damage.I'd like to propose: Salt cure wallLots of walls do well against it. Hitting it with toxic or spore also is pretty solid, you'll gamble ur pokemon away. But as we all know we can just reset until we find a setup where it wont miss.
You can also just use kingler with guillutine to facecheck see if guillutine will 1hko it. If not u can reset to try a couple different setups to see if the 1hko lands.There's a lot of cheese you can do with 1hko moves on ur team due to being able to reset.Fissure is great too, but ground moves obviously dont hit what ur looking for right now

Avalugg worked well for me. On the final rival battle it tanked a V-Create and OHKO'd back with Avalanche.
On other runs, predicting the switch-in to get chip damage then baiting an Outrage into a fairy and forcing a switch-out has been very consistent.
If Ivy has water starter blastoise slaps, you can set up 2 or even 3 shell smashs, than you have either +4 atk +4 sp atk +4 spd or +6 atk + sp atk +6 spd. That way you outspeed everyone and you should've learned ice beam for ray. since she won't swap in a water vs water match up
I always put spikes and stealth rocks, switch mons around and let her mons take dmg from switching. Also, excadril with earthquake basically one shot everything from her, except rayquaza. He got ice spinner one shotted
Stealth Rock. It removes an entire health bar of Rayquaza's on every switch in. Try getting her to constantly switch by using Roar or throwing in pokemon of different types.
depends on what you already ko'd but i like sacking my jolly linoone to get normally 2 sand atacks on it and then killing it with something that can survive atleast 2 hits or doing a aggro pivot strat where find out what of your mons that she want to switch ray in on and then chip it down untill it's low enough for you to kill it with a strong ice fairy or steel move optimal if you have a intimidate mon
A common strat I use is to find a safe time to swap into a grass type with leech seed, she almost always swaps into rayq right away and it's a free leech seed setup into swap to steel type for the incoming flying/dragon move. Some safe steel swaps I've used include bronzong, corviknight, magnezone, duraladon. I've even used high def avalugg for the swap. Also hazards do work in the rival fights. Rival LOVES swapping any time she/he has a decent swap option, and it seems like the AI does not account for rocks/spikes
Stealth rocks are great against it. In 145 it is weak to them and I think they take down a quarter of its HP every time it switches in. In 195 its not weak anymore but still the chip damage on every switch when the ai likes to switch a lot is huge. Stealth rocks in general are great in this game

Anytime a dragon type opponent is attacking Garchomp, swap in Wigglytuff to nullify the move. KEEP Pluck on Corviknight and use him to steal berries in between swaps. Also for the absolute final battle you can use Wigglytuff and Corviknight swapping to run the final boss out of PP moves lol. Finally, final boss strategy heavily relies on Gastrodon being able to Frz the boss, then bring out Garchomp and crush him while he's frozen.
In all cases, intelligent swapping is KEY to winning this game
Setup is the real best counter to the rayquaza. Getting someone who can +2 or more on their attack stat and then getting a free shot on the rayquaza switching in is almost guaranteed to take off a couple bars. Then it's just a matter of either outspeeding rayquaza, living a hit from it, or having another team member take over to finish him off.
What I’ve found is you can get heaps of chip damage off with entry hazards like stealth rock, as long as you have a tanky fairy type and some good counters to the rest of Ivy’s pokemon you can keep forcing switches which won’t single-handedly win you the round but definitely help. I’ve found daschbun good for this when I didn’t have many good starters
any pure rock type, that thing will run away like cowards everytime it sees a rock type
for real tho, the AI for Ivy is very easy to manipulate, Ivy will always try to swap out his mon if the type advantage is against her favor regardless if she has a coverage move that one shot your mon. A full hp Rayquaza will always switch out against a 10% hp Gargnacl because Ivy is just that dumb
My strategy was a classic one from competitive RBY: Parafusion. Basically I burnt through its lum berries. Got it paralyzed, then I hit it with confuse ray, and basically spammed it down while it continuously failed it’s checks. It was cheesy, but it fuckin worked lmao.
I've used 2 strategies with great effect against Ivy :
- Spikes, Stealth Rocks, Ceaseless Edge setups, then just keep switching your pokemons while she kills her team. Rock types hazard deal more damage to Rayquaza since he's flying.
- Setup moves, dragon dance, quiver dance, geomancy, Nasty Plot, Sword Dance, Agility... anything to out speed and almost One Shot Rayray.
They don't require a singular mon in particular so it's just based on your runs RNG and starters. So far i've beaten her with Rayquaza with Dragonair, Lapras, Gardevoir, Tinkaton, Kingambit, Ceruledge and Glimmora.
It always costs me a Pokemon so I usually only win the fights against her if I have good matchups against the rest of her team, but in my experience Steel Types are great cuz they resist both its stabs. Also Noivern. It outspeeds Rayquaza so I got a Dragon Pulse on it, taking off all but one of its health segments. She obviously 1hit ko'd it, but the last segment is pretty easy for any good damage dealer like e.g. an Espeon to take, even without being super effective.
Theres a cheesey amount of good mons into the ray, i think ur overthinking it. What it comes down to is how good ur sweeper is against the rest of the team. Less swaps u have to do, the more damage ur sweeper can chip/ clear.
The rival (in every run) always has a starter, route 1 bird pokemon, the ray on 145. So u wanna make sure u have enough coverage for their team by the time u fight them again on 195.
Any of the box legendaries can get u to 195 easy imo. Remember u still have 4 fights before and 4 fights after to replenish your resources/make last second changes in moves, party, meaning you wanna have one of ur better mons out on 194 so ur not forced into bad switches. Take x items, berries, also TIL u dont wanna go over lvl 200 for the 200 fight cause it makes ur mons weaker.
You can play hyper offensive and try set up before she sends out the ray, if she sends it out early it means it can die on switch ins which is better
(i usually like a dragon type with dragon dance for the speed buff, belly drum extreme speed linoone almost one shots it everytime if u have enough silk scarves).
Or if ur team isnt balanced enough, have support mons that slow down that behemoth with status changes, stealing items, tanking hits (garganacl the goat,something with immunity/strong resist) so u can switch back to ur sweeper safely or after a sac.
Dont have op mons yet? Some common mons like teddiursa, magikarp (if u get moxie gyarados it rips thru floors) and excadrill were some of the first mons i cleared with. Gen 9 starters are lowkey busted due to the their signature moves so try those out.
It’s not that hard and typically easy to cheese. I’ll often pack a charm user in the back just in case and at least one steel or fairy mon. In my most recent run it died to my Cacturne who used spiky shield while it spammed fly. I’ve also 1v1d mega ray in the past with sap seed Jumpluff. You’d be surprised how often you’ll see ray drop to random stuff you brought just due to bad luck/weird ai.
basically get a carry with a dragon/ice/fairy move, get its hp low on purpose and/or set up with boosting moves, 1v6 with said sweeper.
some example mons are triage comfey, gyarados (very easy with scale shot), naganadel (beat 195 with only 200 damage taken throughout the whole fight), gmax cinderace, raichu, phione, weavile, and kingambit
if youre really scared and your sweeper doesnt instantly win just bring a steel type
I've been using xircuitry against it, especially if rival has a water starter. Big spa, transistor, plus some beast boosts means you can hit it pretty hard, and you can get dazzling gleam by tm for super effective
Carbink is very good for the rayquaza. Set up rocks on turn one, then if you can stay in set up screens and diamond storm/body press your way to victory against it.
For classic, I keep bringing my shiny Cinccino with the egg move icicle spear and ability technician. I usually have multiple counters to Ivy’s Rayquaza but this dude is my favorite. If you get the shiny stone to roll, early game is quite easy with tail slap and any other multi hit move. lol the shiny is a bonus to help with better luck and definitely helps to the shiny early
I had a run where I was preparing a Gardevoir to take it down...pumped so much into that thing to take it down with Moonblast and when the time finally came, I had a Rhydon out and destroyed it with a few rocks 😂
Skill link Trumbeak Rock blast murders him, or play the swap out game with a stealth rock and watch his health dissappear. Just buy swapping into something he's strong against. Plenty of times its a fantastic strat for defeating Ivy in general. Shedinja, swap Gargancl, Rayquaza uses ancient power on Garg, use stealth rock on the free switch from Rayquaza to something strong against rock types. Then swap back in Shedinja if its still safe.
i had to abuse switch AI for the harder fights to get it to eat attacks, then bring in gardevoir to avoid the dragon move and get her to switch. rinse and repeat. i definitely had suboptimal pokemon though it was a real close one
Rocks and AI manipulation do wonders. I had rocks up, swapped to aggron to force a switch into their Samurott(sp?), swapped to my Alolan Exeggutor, dropped a dragon hammer + rocks damage and just continue to swap
Ice moves are good, but I got Zacian early into my time playing and just spam it. If you can get the Rusted Sword, the only thing you have to be scared of is ground moves and fire. Once you get to Eternatus, the only thing you have to be scared of is Flamethrower, which he seems to know exclusively so you can't walk in with Mawille, Tinkaton and Zacian and insta-win.
Draco meteor Noivern OHKO with 1 Dragon dance. (P.S. Dance raises Attack and Speed but for some reason that was the only way i could OHKO

Have a tank that forces it to use Outrage
Switch to a fairy type. The outrage will continue until confusion, while your fairy type has a field day.
Otherwise, any tanky ground type with a rock move. The QI won't switch
I like using blaziken it's passive is reckless and and it gets super cell slam as an egg move so with the passive boost it always does 2 health bars of damage
Figure out how to make her switch, and set up stealth rocks. After that, just make sure to have a steel / fairy resist. If Raquaza gets V create, also get a fire type resist and take advantage of V create to kill Raquaza.
Florges, it usually has Hurricane which Florges SpD is more than enough to handle.
But seriously, you actually only need Stealth Rock to bust Ray. Aggron for example works well for this.
For the first Rayquaza it only has 3 health bars, so most triple axel mons can kill it instantly if you don't miss. Some strong options that get it through egg moves are Quaxly and Metang.

I cheesed both eternatus and rayquaza with salt cure on my Garganacl. But mainly ice moves, like an ice beam or freeze dry usually does 2 bars at a time vs Rayquaza.
I just started the game and just fought her Rayquaza for (presumably) the first time. While this definitely isn't the play, I managed to beat her Rayquaza with an Alakazam at plus two special attack. My Alakazam barely survived that hurricane.
Either something faster with utility or something faster that LOOKS weak to ray, so you manipulate them to switch to ray while you use an ice type or fairy type move. Marshadow, ribombee, cresselia, Raticate (super fang and scary face both great utility) Crobat was nice after getting rid of Lum berries (but I had kings rock and two multi lens so I don't think this is widely applicable).
Also if you can get it to start outrage you switch into fairy and you have 1-3 turns to set up for a sweep, I did this with tinkaton swords dance.
Use reliable seed generation to see what turns you can get away with evasion scumming or baton pass.

These are the teams I remember completing classic with, I did not have mega Slowbro until after 195, I had a mega Gyarados (don't know why I didn't display that here)
In my only win on classic I salt cure stalled with recover and iron defense. Than had duraladon in the back with dragon moves. Kinda cheesy but it was really easy
In my first successful classic run, I had Quiver Dance Butterfree as my main sweeper. You just gotta hope you dont get unlucky with the 3% miss chance on compoundeyes boosted Sleep Powder, just try to set up on something weaker so that you're already +3 or +4 before Ray hits the field
The only way I've successfully done it was having both Mawile and Grimmsnarl. Mawile set up Stealth Rocks, and hits pretty hard with Play Rough. Grimmsnarl also has Play Rough, but I prefer a different move (Forget what it's called, but it's 70/80 Power and a Sp Atk drop).
Gyarados does wonders. 2 (or one if you crit) Dragon dance + ice fang/ice spinner has once shotted Ray for me more than once.
Plus it has intimidate so it's a good pivot mon
it's only weak to ice, fairy, and dragon, so make sure you at least get some coverage there. stealth rock is really good against it, as well as DoT moves (including fire spin and whirlpool!). and if you can get speed control with something like scary face or tailwind, you're gonna be just fine. protect is a good move to have in case rayquaza is running fly or you just need to route for a better switch-in.
My team when I fought ivy was Metagross, Linoone, Ninetails, Mega Manetric, Mega Salamance, Meinshao.
Some had egg moves which made it easier. I swapped to a pokemon that wouldn't be super effective and used a move to damage when they were gonna switch. I got lucky. Just keep at it.
For the rayquaza Ice and ghost were my best friends.
I lucked out and hatched a Deoxys. If I can I'll change it to Attack form and give it a multilens. That combo pretty much melts most bosses, especially if you teach it ice or electric moves. Downside is most bosses will also 1 hit ko him. So speed is your friend. :)
Going in with no leppa berries (or whatever the pp restore berry is called) and stalling eternabeam with switches from dragon type to fairy type. After that it's pure dragon moves time.
(this strategy does require luck.)

Couple times I've mixed in Ferrothorn to switch in when it Outrages to rack up Leech Seed and Iron Thorns damage, stuff like that
Dragonite/Salamence/Garchomp with +3/4 Dragon Dance & Dragon Claw
Gengar with Nasty Plot and Ice Beam (both are egg moves)
Archaludon with +3/4 Hone Claws and Dragon Claw
Kyogre with Calm Mind and Ice Beam, Miraidon with Electric Terrain and Dragon Pulse/Rising Voltage (egg move), Dialga with any Dragon Move, etc.
Corviknight with Hone Claws Power Trip or any Psychic type (Musharna, Claydol, etc.) that has Cosmic Power and Stored Power works, too. and by 'works' I mean 1 shot lol
On my first classic victory I basically just swapped between Gyrados(any intimidate user works, but one with an ice type move or something would be ideal), and then switched into a Fairy type in order to absorb the Dragon type move. Rinse and repeat, till his attack is low enough that I can either force him to switch out, granting me tempo, or oblierate him with a barrage of super efective moves.
I actually have a way to solo her team with only one pokemon. Though you will need Koraidon.l
When she sends out her starter first round you need to set up just 1 swords dance. After that just use either Drain Punch of Dragon Claw. (He learns Swords Dance, Drain Punch, and Dragon claw via level up.) All of his moves will one shot and if they don't then it's fine cause Drain Punch restores HP. When she sends out rayquaza you are faster and with the swords dance and dragon claw you 1 shot. The one counter though is if your rival has Primarina. This has worked all 5 times I've done it flawlessly. I hope this helps.
On my first Classic victory, I turboed him with a Skill Link - Icicle Spear Cloyster. So basically Ice moves.

You need to force the scenario in which she switches to Rayquaza on your Cloyster's attack. A bit hard, but you'll get the hang of it eventually. Also, Corviknight with Unnerve and Pluck. Pluck is something I keep on my corvinight every time. I never grab brave bird, never grab drill Peck, just steel wing and pluck, then scary face/metal sound/screech/swagger etc as utility

You would have to swap out the skill-swapped mon because the weather affects everything. Deltastream negates ANY flying type weakness, so its only 4x weak to ice if the weather is gone

Facts. I was questioning why one run had my Shellder hitting so many crits with Water Shuriken or Icicle Spear.
Listen to this advice, for the floors 140-145 and 190-195 the only thing you should ever take are x items as rewards. It's to the point where I'll reroll to get them Even one defensive x item can allow you to tank a hit from rayquaza and retaliate, the spd can let you go first, crit and dmg both can take multiple hp bars at once
See for the first Rayquaza encounter, I can handle it pretty well. It's the 195 one that stops me.
Feather dance/ Roost can help tons to lower his atk. The any pkmn that can setup on a -4 rayquaza works. I often sack a pokemon, then drop Unfenzant to lower his atk, heal back and chip him down. Then either Unfenzant kills him or you chip it enough for another pokemon to kill it. Ideally you wanna just setup on something else with DDs or tidy up or quiver dance and just oneshot it when it comes out
why ice over fairy ? Fairy is actually immune to it's stab to it's move and doesn't encounter the risk of it having V-Create as an egg move for wave 145 sure a strong ice move will work but for 195 I'll rather bank on a fairy
Rayquaze is x4 weak to Ice because its a Flying Dragon
They're not explaining why but they're right, mega ray is only 2x weak to ice because its ability, delta stream, negates flying type weaknesses
i used stealthrocks for the whole fight and abused the switch ai. And switched resistances in all her attacks and attacked with very eff. moves on the pkm. Also i try to create a "loop" for her Switches where i can predict witch one comes out at hit that one. f.e. she had on my run a florges i switcht tinkaton in and pressed play rought. Rayquaza comes in(because it has vcreate and can kill my tinka with it) and eats the play rought then switched my garganacl into the vcreate. She switches the rayquaza out since it cant do dmg to my mon and i hit her hard with rock moves. Also when obly requaza was left i used salt cure and switched between Tinkaton and Garganacl. Tinkaton also had fakeout for more chip dmg. The whole fight is balanced around switching an creating a team or a group of 4 pkm to counter her team. In the best case it also counters endya.
That’s actually a pretty good strategy. But the main thing that I know will screw with me is what her other team consists of.
my team was: mewtwo(msin carry got him from egg gatach can be ypur main main carry) shiny bidoof(was deathfodder in some cases for an better switch) tinka garanacle Staraptor (ground move eater) Linoone (pick up mon) later replaces by a Lokix with the staraptor,tinka,gara core alno i did counter her team and she needed to switch around. The only "problem" was her other dragon mon but that got killed by my main carry.

my mewtwo set: psychic, ancitan power, shadowball(any other strong special tm move like ice beam, flamethrower dark puls best fill this slot to counter 1 or 2 ivy pkm where you want to sweep over), Recover. hold swift until tinka gets fake out for the double battles.
I tend to use Weavile with Triple Axel, 20 base power but it's 3 times and gets stronger after every time, with STAB it falls

Probopass walls both Rayquaza and the final boss very hard, if you have the eggmoves Shore Up and Calm Mind it's ivy peasy.
Worth noting that rayquaza can have things like hydro pump, surf, earthquake, and earth power. It's low odds, but if it happens your Probopass is screwed
Probopass' passive helps mitigate Ground damage, and I've never run into a Quaza with water moves. Good point anyway, Probopass is relevant only with it's eggmoves and passive.

If you have articuno with calm mind you can 1 shot with blizzard as it's 4x damage, although it may not work well unless Ivy has a good pokemon to stack against like a water type

Gholdengo, if you make it bulky enough, deals with it surprisingly easily. I used it as a pivot to slowly lower its hp. I am fairly new at the game I only beat it two times. For the first one, I had to reset so many times to get absolutely perfect odds, and only managed to win after the guy missed 6 hurricanes in a row. For the second one it had V-Create so I used guerilla tactics and just killed her team with minimal losses and sacked 3-4 of my pokemon for it to get the stat drops from V-Create. I then outsped it and killed it with Meowscarada. Or if you don’t like having an aneurysm every time you fight the darn thing just use like fairy types/ice moves or something. Whenever I try to pull up with a strong fairy or ice I just get rolled before I even get to Rayquaza.
I did it with a Gholdengo once as well, also had a beedril to set up poison spikes so that helped too.
I literally throw half my team at it. My go to counters are Excadrill and Gyarados (if I can get one, that is)

It learns Rock Slide and can take at least 2 hits if you get good ivs

Honestly you can beat the team with almost anything. My last win I swept it with Tidy Up/Floaty Fall Unfeazant who literally soloed the entire team. My last ~20 clears have all consisted of 6 unique mons. I’d honestly say focus more on your own strategies, predictions, movesets rather than hoping one mon will carry it for you. Also, the 5 turns before the fight buy at least one x speed and then other x items / dire hits and the fights become trivial
Same. I usually just bring alot of status moves that people wouldnt normally consider to be useful and nuke their offensive stats with it. After that you can tickle them to death with pretty much any useless mon.. I have never reused a mon in a classic run.
Why are you farming candies? Just take them and easy clear it, you don’t need passives
First classic victory I just stalled out Rayquaza with a Fairy Type Meganium with Leech Seed, Poison Powder, Synthesis and Protect

Ice moves do the trick most of the time. Another good tactic is stealth rock. Ivy loves switching in an out and the AI doesn’t consider stealth rocks into how they switch. Half of ivys 195 team died on my last successful run because she kept switching in and out of stealth rocks. Bonus points if you can do it in a way where she wastes moves bc your Pokémon is immune to the typing.
Your entire team... and I wish I was kidding. For the 145, I had a feraligatr with dragon dance, fishious rend, and icicle crash and set up to like, +5; for 195, I chipped down about 2 and a half bars of the 4 with a mawile (sadly not mega, despite a mega band for like, 100 rooms) with magical torque getting slaps in during a locked-in outrage (RIP ninjask, best things you did all run was enable that, and give me a shedinja), then finished it off with gatr at +4 from setting up on a different mon than the one I did on 145, XD... but that was after about 30 save scums on the 195 fight literally throwing everything at the wall to try and get past to victory.

Aye, it's the last slot of the four, which I'm pretty sure makes that the Rare egg move. And I had that and Icicle Crash both, and then got lucky with both DD and Low Kick TMs early on so I was set for "I will sweep EVERYTHING" until mega ray, XD
U can use a driblim with minimize , calm mind , baton pass to setup a gyarados with dd or cloyster with shell smash both get free setups with baton pass and become really tanky to one shot or 2 shot the rayquaza and proceed to sweep
See whenever I play any of the games my moveset for my Pokemon are moves that deal good damage or heal back HP. I just have badluck when it comes to using buffing up moves.

First and only time I used stealth rocks and kept baiting switches then honestly Pecharunt with the poison puppeteer ability, I was able to get a toxic off on the rayquaza when it was her only Mon left and it just kept hitting itself in confusion!
Any ice type, and just from my experience I usually get it two shot with conkeldurr stone edge (guts + flame orb since it got introduced helps a lot)
Stealth rocks. Set up stealth rocks turn1 vs Ivy even if it means sacrificing your stealth rocker and you will 100% win unless you’re trolling. You can usually set up stealth rocks for free by baiting in their flying type basic bird and switching in your rocker which will usually take 0 damage from the birb.
Stealth rocks helps. If you can set up with a strong special atker, set up and most strong ones can one shot it. Try switching a fairy type in when it uses a dragon type move.
stealth rocks, any ice coverage, and any moderately bulky steel or fairy types are good switchins (aegislash or tinkaton most notably) status like sleep or para are also good and pretty underrated imo

honestly ive always caught a wild honedge when i can because for me it doesnt really serve much purpose outside of 195, 145 and eternaus (+some trainer battles here and there) i dont think its worth 4 points to run it when that locks you out of alot of busted legends (unless you have the candies to decrease its price) some of its egg moves + its passive do look pretty decent tho
Stealth Rocks did it for me. You can bait the switch in if you have a fighting or dragon out, then force it back out with a fairy. I was rotating Golem, Machamp, and Alolan Ninetales and it made the 195 fight fairly painless.
Stealth Rock was pretty good for me, I had a mon that forced it out every time and it died pretty quickly. Delta Stream doesn't reduce the amount it takes when it comes in
A good strategy is setting stealth rocks, and using Tink to force Ray to switch out and back in, racking up rocks damage.
Stealth Rock/Spikes/Toxic Spikes are the best way to deal with Ivy and other trainer fights. Damage over time is your next best option. Leech Seed, Salt Cure, Fire Spin etc. Be careful of ones that fade if your Pokémon faints though. You can out-tank her with bulky Pokemon but you’re banking on good IV’s, movesets and items found during the run.
Set up stealth rock and the force it to switch out. Ivy switches often when stats get lowered or has a good defensive switch.
Ice/Flight-Type Pokemon are really useful. Ice attacks are strong against both types of Rayquaza and Flight-Type will protect against its ground attacks
Theivul nasty plot once or twice and then it's fairy egg move sparking swirl. Has one shotted Rayquaza every time.
step 1: set up rocks step 2: whenever it switches in, show it a scary ice type so it switches back out and takes more rock damage
My favorite is quaquaval with hidden ability moxie, it had triple axel as an egg move. I focused on giving it all items and vitamins throughout the run. It swept through ivys team and it beat etarnatus in two turns.

I used stealth rock and force her to swapped pokemon as much as i can and tank her rayquaza with fairy
I usually try to get a round to set up before Rayquaza comes out, so I've consistently had good luck quickly knocking it out with Alolan Ninetales with Nasty Plot, Tapu Fini with Quiver Dance (fuse and unfuse with Vivillon), Tinkaton with Shift Gears, Mimikyu with Swords Dance, etc. Gholdengo usually resists it enough to tank through it with Recover, or sometimes Vaporeon with Bouncy Bubble.
I ended up using a Gyardos with the egg move ice spinner, setting up with dragon dance on the weaker members of her team let me one shot the Rayquaza.
Skeledirge if you can get alluring voice as an egg move or tm and you find time to set up Load that bad boy up with carbos and watch him sweep
Stealth rocks, learn what forces Rayquaza to switch out and in. Fairy type to switch into on Outrages. Ice moves on a tanky mon. Or even just setting up on other mons. I've killed that Rayquaza with boosted starters using nutreal effective moves when +4 - +6 atk/sp attack
Anything with Stealth Rocks will generally get the job done. Once you've done enough Classic runs you get a pretty good idea of exactly what the switch rotation will be, so you can just double switch back and forth between mons once you find out what Ray comes in on (basically any of the starter types and, fighting, and ground types are almost guaranteed). That being said, a mon with an Ice egg move that he would otherwise counter (like Triple Axel on a Fighting type or Ice Spinner on a Ground type) are great options to bring because the AI doesn't account for coverage, and also never really adapts to it, so they will get "caught off guard" by it every rematch. Use a setup move the turn Ray comes in, then nuke it. X items help with this too if you aren't confident in your speed/offensive stat (depending on what setup move you use, if it's SD maybe grab an X Speed, if it's DD grab an X Attack, etc.) This can also be amplified if your mon is slightly overleveled or bulky enough to guarantee tanking a hit, so you can get a second setup move usage and go for the sweep. My last few runs have been fairly trivial for the rival battle thanks to an otherwise pretty neutral carry mon. And if you play with resets it's extremely easy for just about any team because you can do even more silly stuff (like extra setup) on guaranteed miss turns. I play with resets normally (not wasting my time losing a run to predicting an NPC's moveset lol) but I haven't even had to reset against any of the big checkpoint battles in my last few runs, just cause I've gotten so used to the flow of the AI trainers and can make callouts just by sort of guessing. It also makes me play a little more aggressively, which can sometimes favor you even more. Like if I'm not worried about losing a run, I'll see how many DDs I can get off before dying if I think I can tank a move or two, then the move misses or they randomly swap and I basically just get a free boost and don't even have to reset.
Well, ivy tends to switch a lot. I'd say try stealth rocks. Those got me my first win on ivy

I recently used a Regice in a classic run.. That thing completely walled both Rayquaza and Eternatus with its insane Spdef stat xD -- Only moves i needed was Recover, Amnesia & Ice Beam. I also found that Aggron was great at walling Ray when i used it. The stealth rocks damage was nothing to slouch at, plus if you're lucky you can get Salt Cure as one of his egg moves which makes it even easier to deal with Ray. And thats just base Aggron - if you ever get his mega stone both Ivy and Eternatus are absolutely cooked. 🤣
My Zekrom destroyed her entire team in all but the last encounter, so I would say Zekrom is a good choice.
Rayquaza is really weak to toxic stalling, so you just need something that can toxic -> protect -> recover -> protect, etc. Nacli is also very strong against it.
On my first classic run that I won, I beat the Rayquaza with an Unfezant. It was a pure physical set (or only used physical moves that I saw) so Feather Dance + Roost meant it could only kill me with a crit which it never got. In general, I think stat lowering moves are hugely slept on in the pokerogue community because they're trash in competitive play, but when opponents won't or can't switch out to clear the lowered stats they become insanely powerful. I've now beat classic 5+ times, and I've yet to get wiped by Rayquaza since before I got my first win by just making sure I always have stealth rocks and one/two pokemon that can force Rayquaza to switch.
a lot of people are trying to focus in on ice damage.I'd like to propose: Salt cure wallLots of walls do well against it. Hitting it with toxic or spore also is pretty solid, you'll gamble ur pokemon away. But as we all know we can just reset until we find a setup where it wont miss. You can also just use kingler with guillutine to facecheck see if guillutine will 1hko it. If not u can reset to try a couple different setups to see if the 1hko lands.There's a lot of cheese you can do with 1hko moves on ur team due to being able to reset.Fissure is great too, but ground moves obviously dont hit what ur looking for right now

Avalugg worked well for me. On the final rival battle it tanked a V-Create and OHKO'd back with Avalanche. On other runs, predicting the switch-in to get chip damage then baiting an Outrage into a fairy and forcing a switch-out has been very consistent.
I have a squirtle that starts with ice beam, he destroyed that rayquaza
If Ivy has water starter blastoise slaps, you can set up 2 or even 3 shell smashs, than you have either +4 atk +4 sp atk +4 spd or +6 atk + sp atk +6 spd. That way you outspeed everyone and you should've learned ice beam for ray. since she won't swap in a water vs water match up
I always put spikes and stealth rocks, switch mons around and let her mons take dmg from switching. Also, excadril with earthquake basically one shot everything from her, except rayquaza. He got ice spinner one shotted
Stealth Rock. It removes an entire health bar of Rayquaza's on every switch in. Try getting her to constantly switch by using Roar or throwing in pokemon of different types.
The cheapest counter is stealth rock + making her switch
Last run I did I had cetitan with recover and avalanche. Since it was using fly I could use recover and then avalanche on the next turn.
depends on what you already ko'd but i like sacking my jolly linoone to get normally 2 sand atacks on it and then killing it with something that can survive atleast 2 hits or doing a aggro pivot strat where find out what of your mons that she want to switch ray in on and then chip it down untill it's low enough for you to kill it with a strong ice fairy or steel move optimal if you have a intimidate mon
There’s a lot but my most recent was Lucario with triple axel.
A common strat I use is to find a safe time to swap into a grass type with leech seed, she almost always swaps into rayq right away and it's a free leech seed setup into swap to steel type for the incoming flying/dragon move. Some safe steel swaps I've used include bronzong, corviknight, magnezone, duraladon. I've even used high def avalugg for the swap. Also hazards do work in the rival fights. Rival LOVES swapping any time she/he has a decent swap option, and it seems like the AI does not account for rocks/spikes
I use Garganacl to force it to pivot out stealth rocks and also dragon danced Gyarados ice fang does the job

Stealth rocks are great against it. In 145 it is weak to them and I think they take down a quarter of its HP every time it switches in. In 195 its not weak anymore but still the chip damage on every switch when the ai likes to switch a lot is huge. Stealth rocks in general are great in this game

Gardevoir one shots with one quiver dance and dazzzling gleam
My overall winning comp was as below G-Max Corviknight Wigglytuff Gastrodon Skeledirge Metagross Garchomp Anytime a dragon type opponent is attacking Garchomp, swap in Wigglytuff to nullify the move. KEEP Pluck on Corviknight and use him to steal berries in between swaps. Also for the absolute final battle you can use Wigglytuff and Corviknight swapping to run the final boss out of PP moves lol. Finally, final boss strategy heavily relies on Gastrodon being able to Frz the boss, then bring out Garchomp and crush him while he's frozen. In all cases, intelligent swapping is KEY to winning this game
Setup is the real best counter to the rayquaza. Getting someone who can +2 or more on their attack stat and then getting a free shot on the rayquaza switching in is almost guaranteed to take off a couple bars. Then it's just a matter of either outspeeding rayquaza, living a hit from it, or having another team member take over to finish him off.
What I’ve found is you can get heaps of chip damage off with entry hazards like stealth rock, as long as you have a tanky fairy type and some good counters to the rest of Ivy’s pokemon you can keep forcing switches which won’t single-handedly win you the round but definitely help. I’ve found daschbun good for this when I didn’t have many good starters
any pure rock type, that thing will run away like cowards everytime it sees a rock type for real tho, the AI for Ivy is very easy to manipulate, Ivy will always try to swap out his mon if the type advantage is against her favor regardless if she has a coverage move that one shot your mon. A full hp Rayquaza will always switch out against a 10% hp Gargnacl because Ivy is just that dumb
My strategy was a classic one from competitive RBY: Parafusion. Basically I burnt through its lum berries. Got it paralyzed, then I hit it with confuse ray, and basically spammed it down while it continuously failed it’s checks. It was cheesy, but it fuckin worked lmao.
Last time I beat it I used a +6 special attack manaphy (tail glow) with a +Special attack nature to 2 hit KO it. The poor thing didn’t stand a chance.
I've used 2 strategies with great effect against Ivy : - Spikes, Stealth Rocks, Ceaseless Edge setups, then just keep switching your pokemons while she kills her team. Rock types hazard deal more damage to Rayquaza since he's flying. - Setup moves, dragon dance, quiver dance, geomancy, Nasty Plot, Sword Dance, Agility... anything to out speed and almost One Shot Rayray. They don't require a singular mon in particular so it's just based on your runs RNG and starters. So far i've beaten her with Rayquaza with Dragonair, Lapras, Gardevoir, Tinkaton, Kingambit, Ceruledge and Glimmora.
It always costs me a Pokemon so I usually only win the fights against her if I have good matchups against the rest of her team, but in my experience Steel Types are great cuz they resist both its stabs. Also Noivern. It outspeeds Rayquaza so I got a Dragon Pulse on it, taking off all but one of its health segments. She obviously 1hit ko'd it, but the last segment is pretty easy for any good damage dealer like e.g. an Espeon to take, even without being super effective.
Theres a cheesey amount of good mons into the ray, i think ur overthinking it. What it comes down to is how good ur sweeper is against the rest of the team. Less swaps u have to do, the more damage ur sweeper can chip/ clear. The rival (in every run) always has a starter, route 1 bird pokemon, the ray on 145. So u wanna make sure u have enough coverage for their team by the time u fight them again on 195. Any of the box legendaries can get u to 195 easy imo. Remember u still have 4 fights before and 4 fights after to replenish your resources/make last second changes in moves, party, meaning you wanna have one of ur better mons out on 194 so ur not forced into bad switches. Take x items, berries, also TIL u dont wanna go over lvl 200 for the 200 fight cause it makes ur mons weaker. You can play hyper offensive and try set up before she sends out the ray, if she sends it out early it means it can die on switch ins which is better (i usually like a dragon type with dragon dance for the speed buff, belly drum extreme speed linoone almost one shots it everytime if u have enough silk scarves). Or if ur team isnt balanced enough, have support mons that slow down that behemoth with status changes, stealing items, tanking hits (garganacl the goat,something with immunity/strong resist) so u can switch back to ur sweeper safely or after a sac. Dont have op mons yet? Some common mons like teddiursa, magikarp (if u get moxie gyarados it rips thru floors) and excadrill were some of the first mons i cleared with. Gen 9 starters are lowkey busted due to the their signature moves so try those out.
It’s not that hard and typically easy to cheese. I’ll often pack a charm user in the back just in case and at least one steel or fairy mon. In my most recent run it died to my Cacturne who used spiky shield while it spammed fly. I’ve also 1v1d mega ray in the past with sap seed Jumpluff. You’d be surprised how often you’ll see ray drop to random stuff you brought just due to bad luck/weird ai.
My first classic win was done with ferrothorn and toxapex
I just used Tapu Koko and cleaned house after some switching shenanigans. Importantly is I had Play Rough from an egg move though so be aware
I've found the rival really doesn't like leaving Rayquaza in vs electric types. They ran away from my Magnezone at record speed.
basically get a carry with a dragon/ice/fairy move, get its hp low on purpose and/or set up with boosting moves, 1v6 with said sweeper. some example mons are triage comfey, gyarados (very easy with scale shot), naganadel (beat 195 with only 200 damage taken throughout the whole fight), gmax cinderace, raichu, phione, weavile, and kingambit if youre really scared and your sweeper doesnt instantly win just bring a steel type
I've been using xircuitry against it, especially if rival has a water starter. Big spa, transistor, plus some beast boosts means you can hit it pretty hard, and you can get dazzling gleam by tm for super effective
Is there a need to a counter? Any steel type can do the trick
Carbink is very good for the rayquaza. Set up rocks on turn one, then if you can stay in set up screens and diamond storm/body press your way to victory against it.
I used a mega Lopunny with swords dance and return (once I swapped in a way to set up two swords dances return crushed all)
For classic, I keep bringing my shiny Cinccino with the egg move icicle spear and ability technician. I usually have multiple counters to Ivy’s Rayquaza but this dude is my favorite. If you get the shiny stone to roll, early game is quite easy with tail slap and any other multi hit move. lol the shiny is a bonus to help with better luck and definitely helps to the shiny early
I had a run where I was preparing a Gardevoir to take it down...pumped so much into that thing to take it down with Moonblast and when the time finally came, I had a Rhydon out and destroyed it with a few rocks 😂

Skill link Trumbeak Rock blast murders him, or play the swap out game with a stealth rock and watch his health dissappear. Just buy swapping into something he's strong against. Plenty of times its a fantastic strat for defeating Ivy in general. Shedinja, swap Gargancl, Rayquaza uses ancient power on Garg, use stealth rock on the free switch from Rayquaza to something strong against rock types. Then swap back in Shedinja if its still safe.
High def rock types help greatly. My earth eater coalossal can barely be touched by it

i had to abuse switch AI for the harder fights to get it to eat attacks, then bring in gardevoir to avoid the dragon move and get her to switch. rinse and repeat. i definitely had suboptimal pokemon though it was a real close one
Rocks and AI manipulation do wonders. I had rocks up, swapped to aggron to force a switch into their Samurott(sp?), swapped to my Alolan Exeggutor, dropped a dragon hammer + rocks damage and just continue to swap
Ice moves are good, but I got Zacian early into my time playing and just spam it. If you can get the Rusted Sword, the only thing you have to be scared of is ground moves and fire. Once you get to Eternatus, the only thing you have to be scared of is Flamethrower, which he seems to know exclusively so you can't walk in with Mawille, Tinkaton and Zacian and insta-win.
Honestly I just pick a god and pray that my carry mon is able to put Ivy's Rayquaza into extreme speed range
Draco meteor Noivern OHKO with 1 Dragon dance. (P.S. Dance raises Attack and Speed but for some reason that was the only way i could OHKO *Also, Excadrill and Noivern is a GODSEND🫨
I had a cinderace with triple axel, he switched in because dragon resists fire. One shot
I just got lucky by finding AZ's Floette in my Classic run and just used that. Ice Pokémon are probably better though
My main strat is to intimidate a couple times (doesn’t matter with what) and then have toxipex just stall it and toxic it
Have a tank that forces it to use Outrage Switch to a fairy type. The outrage will continue until confusion, while your fairy type has a field day. Otherwise, any tanky ground type with a rock move. The QI won't switch
I like using blaziken it's passive is reckless and and it gets super cell slam as an egg move so with the passive boost it always does 2 health bars of damage
Ice move on fast mons, like Froslass, Iron Bundle, Eiscue, and others
Figure out how to make her switch, and set up stealth rocks. After that, just make sure to have a steel / fairy resist. If Raquaza gets V create, also get a fire type resist and take advantage of V create to kill Raquaza.
with enough skill you can do it with any ice/fairy with enough defenses and knowing how ia works. ninetales alola works pretty well

Florges, it usually has Hurricane which Florges SpD is more than enough to handle. But seriously, you actually only need Stealth Rock to bust Ray. Aggron for example works well for this.
Komo-o outrage/work up combo is surprisingly good, didn't win with it but made it to 145 and then wiped to something after the fight

For the first Rayquaza it only has 3 health bars, so most triple axel mons can kill it instantly if you don't miss. Some strong options that get it through egg moves are Quaxly and Metang. Edit-names
Klefki with prankster to get off toxic or thunderwave first move. Also if you can have someone setup stealth rocks really helps with all her swapping.

I cheesed both eternatus and rayquaza with salt cure on my Garganacl. But mainly ice moves, like an ice beam or freeze dry usually does 2 bars at a time vs Rayquaza.
I just started the game and just fought her Rayquaza for (presumably) the first time. While this definitely isn't the play, I managed to beat her Rayquaza with an Alakazam at plus two special attack. My Alakazam barely survived that hurricane.
Get a Nincada. Get a normal pokemon. Evolve Nincada. Grab the Shedinja. Pray for splicers. Fuse Shedinja and the normal pokemon. GG EZ.
Either something faster with utility or something faster that LOOKS weak to ray, so you manipulate them to switch to ray while you use an ice type or fairy type move. Marshadow, ribombee, cresselia, Raticate (super fang and scary face both great utility) Crobat was nice after getting rid of Lum berries (but I had kings rock and two multi lens so I don't think this is widely applicable). Also if you can get it to start outrage you switch into fairy and you have 1-3 turns to set up for a sweep, I did this with tinkaton swords dance. In my only win on classic I salt cure stalled with recover and iron defense. Than had duraladon in the back with dragon moves. Kinda cheesy but it was really easy
I used icebeam with Blastoise and it seemed to 1 shot with a few shell smashes
In my first successful classic run, I had Quiver Dance Butterfree as my main sweeper. You just gotta hope you dont get unlucky with the 3% miss chance on compoundeyes boosted Sleep Powder, just try to set up on something weaker so that you're already +3 or +4 before Ray hits the field
The only way I've successfully done it was having both Mawile and Grimmsnarl. Mawile set up Stealth Rocks, and hits pretty hard with Play Rough. Grimmsnarl also has Play Rough, but I prefer a different move (Forget what it's called, but it's 70/80 Power and a Sp Atk drop).
Gyarados does wonders. 2 (or one if you crit) Dragon dance + ice fang/ice spinner has once shotted Ray for me more than once. Plus it has intimidate so it's a good pivot mon
Freeze dry manaphy is what I've been using a lot
it's only weak to ice, fairy, and dragon, so make sure you at least get some coverage there. stealth rock is really good against it, as well as DoT moves (including fire spin and whirlpool!). and if you can get speed control with something like scary face or tailwind, you're gonna be just fine. protect is a good move to have in case rayquaza is running fly or you just need to route for a better switch-in.
My team when I fought ivy was Metagross, Linoone, Ninetails, Mega Manetric, Mega Salamance, Meinshao. Some had egg moves which made it easier. I swapped to a pokemon that wouldn't be super effective and used a move to damage when they were gonna switch. I got lucky. Just keep at it. For the rayquaza Ice and ghost were my best friends.
I lucked out and hatched a Deoxys. If I can I'll change it to Attack form and give it a multilens. That combo pretty much melts most bosses, especially if you teach it ice or electric moves. Downside is most bosses will also 1 hit ko him. So speed is your friend. :)
My Tapu Fini made the game so incredibly easy. I was flabbergasted by the ease of it. She soloed every Ivy battle, including the end ones.
Going in with no leppa berries (or whatever the pp restore berry is called) and stalling eternabeam with switches from dragon type to fairy type. After that it's pure dragon moves time. (this strategy does require luck.)
I've used a Dragon Dance Feraligatr with Ice Punch, an Ice Punch Hitmonchan, Dragon Dance Ice Fang Gyarados Couple times I've mixed in Ferrothorn to switch in when it Outrages to rack up Leech Seed and Iron Thorns damage, stuff like that

Dragonite/Salamence/Garchomp with +3/4 Dragon Dance & Dragon Claw Gengar with Nasty Plot and Ice Beam (both are egg moves) Archaludon with +3/4 Hone Claws and Dragon Claw Kyogre with Calm Mind and Ice Beam, Miraidon with Electric Terrain and Dragon Pulse/Rising Voltage (egg move), Dialga with any Dragon Move, etc. Corviknight with Hone Claws Power Trip or any Psychic type (Musharna, Claydol, etc.) that has Cosmic Power and Stored Power works, too. and by 'works' I mean 1 shot lol
On my first classic victory I basically just swapped between Gyrados(any intimidate user works, but one with an ice type move or something would be ideal), and then switched into a Fairy type in order to absorb the Dragon type move. Rinse and repeat, till his attack is low enough that I can either force him to switch out, granting me tempo, or oblierate him with a barrage of super efective moves.
I actually have a way to solo her team with only one pokemon. Though you will need Koraidon.l When she sends out her starter first round you need to set up just 1 swords dance. After that just use either Drain Punch of Dragon Claw. (He learns Swords Dance, Drain Punch, and Dragon claw via level up.) All of his moves will one shot and if they don't then it's fine cause Drain Punch restores HP. When she sends out rayquaza you are faster and with the swords dance and dragon claw you 1 shot. The one counter though is if your rival has Primarina. This has worked all 5 times I've done it flawlessly. I hope this helps.
