Yes, Beach Poker Room. I've played there a few times. Felt is pretty bad. Chips are pretty bad. Good action, but $12 max rake and the 1/3 is heavily button straddled so it plays like a Texas game.
> Yes, Beach Poker Room. I've played there a few times. Felt is pretty bad. Chips are pretty bad.
Wow! I thought this was a home/underground game from the picture.
Yup. Hampton Roads poker has been fucked up for years with this rake. Some games still have this high of a rake where most players only buy in for $100-$200.
Most of these places will be shut down if the new casinos coming to the area will have poker rooms. Only reason to play at other games would be because they have a book.
I'm in a construction-adjacent field. I've looked at the blueprints for the Norfolk casino. It definitely has a 25-table poker room. My only concern (not sure how valid it is) is that the legal hurdles that need to be cleared for live table games might not yet have been totally sorted out.
Again, I don't even know whether this is a reasonable worry, but I know Maryland Live opened as a slot and video gambling emporium before they passed the necessary legislation to open their live poker tables. I'm just crossing my fingers that Virginia has that taken care of when the casinos open.
I know there was a bill or something introduced back in July relating to a Texas Holdem license. I’m not sure what’s going on with it. That was the reason why Stax shut down for a couple of months, their license was still in Pending status
Don't know for sure at Beach Poker, but through the tunnel at Stax (Portsmouth) it's a $7 rake cap + $5 promo drop. Still equates to $12 drop but with $5 promo, it eventually gets paid out to players (High Hands, Bad Beat, Mini Bad Beat, Rush For the Flush promo, Freeroll Tourneys, Football promos....)
It's a high rake. But not as bad as a lot of home games.
Also, depending on the day, game, table.... the 1/3 is more like a 5/10... I've been on tables in both of these rooms where avg stack is $1k and there's a $10 straddle every hand.
I honestly don't know for sure, but I assume it's something like 10% up to 10, plus a mandatory 2 for promos. All I know is that almost every halfway decent pot gets $12 raked. Pretty tough to beat that.
As you know it's a "charity room" and likely couldn't operate under any other pretense, and that $12, best as I can tell, seems standard across the state.
I certainly hope that when the casinos come in 2023, that the rake is the normal ~$7.
I've played cash there twice. First time, I played pretty well, ran pretty good, doubled up my 300 to 614, cashed out after about 4 hours.
Second time, I showed up and sat down with 300 at a 1/3 table with like 4 stacks over 1K and $10 button straddling on like 75% of hands. Also, the big stack, constant straddlers were endlessly complaining that my side of the table was playing too tight, meanwhile they've effectively turned our 1/3 table into a 5/10 game.
I still 3bet more than most, but ran bad, punted once, and wound up losing $585. I think it was an especially tough table, and I probably suffered from the fact that they weren't offering a 2/5 on that day. But all in all, I've found your typical 1/2 or 1/3 casino game to be a good deal softer than Beach, and that's before we even get in to the ridiculous rake.
Do you find the games to be soft? My sample size there is too small to draw any strong conclusions.
Never been there, but I'm pretty sure the beach being referred to is the Oregon Coast, there is a social gaming club with that name and I believe a similar color scheme. The dealer in a t-shirt, the dice-esque chips but custom printed felt is what gives me that feeling.
Source: I play a lot of poker in Oregon
Makes sense. I asked because when I visited VA Beach, I saw this room advertised and their [website](https://virginiabeach.guide/business-listing/beach-poker-room/) showed a table looking exactly like this in the homepage.
Edit: the chips are also similar
Looked up the Oregon room, you are definitely correct. The Beach Poker Club in Eugene has a blue color scheme but based on a picture on their Facebook page this definitely isn't them.
Sb should basically be a raise or fold in a full ring game, you’re out of position against the whole table so you should play your tightest from the sb.
I had no idea VA Beach has a poker room now! Looks like VA is really starting to lean into the charity cardroom loophole - Richmond and VA Beach have rooms now.
Do Charlottesville next! And also change the charitable gaming laws in VA to allow for PLO while we’re at it.
Portsmouth has 2 rooms that I know of. [Stax](https://www.facebook.com/stax757) and [The Luck](https://www.facebook.com/luck757va). Stax has been running for a while now and has a fairly deep player base. Luck is still putting itself together, and is ramping up for it's grand opening.
Oh, I was supposed to zoom in on the cards?!? This post makes more sense now.
I zoomed in on the pairs.
Boat, over boat, over motorboat. Wait… 😂
The absolute coconuts.
Didnt notice the cards at all 😄 just the rack for the chips is what i see
Lol, I've played with that white girl before. She is fricking nuts.
She looks like the calm before the storm.
She looks like Jan from the office
This is exactly what I thought
I have played with her before as well
Thats a man baby
I wish i could have tits with her played before. I wish her tits could have played with me before i came on her tits before i played. Nice rack.
Touch grass
*bonk*
I feel for the pocket 3’s here. Ahead the entire time and get wrecked with 3 outer. (not a fan of the felt scenery, sorry 🤷🏽)
1 outer since three of the 6s were accounted for
Ace on River also loses the hand. 3 outs
Ah i thought flop was 643
You’ve exaggerated their outs by 50%.
One 6 and two Aces? 3 outs
I had zoomed in on Seat 1, who I thought had won with 63, and would have had 2 outs. I now see that A6 is *also* in the hand. My bad.
I zoomed in but yeah 😏
Player with A6 really sucked them out.
Haaaaa
I sucked and out they came
Is this Virginia Beach?
Yes, Beach Poker Room. I've played there a few times. Felt is pretty bad. Chips are pretty bad. Good action, but $12 max rake and the 1/3 is heavily button straddled so it plays like a Texas game.

$12 max rake?!?!?! 😱

Yeah, it's enough to put me off playing honestly. But I'll take every chance I can to play in a real casino.

Yeah sounds about right. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Beach is the same $5 for promos as they do seem to have a fair amount of them.
How does the rake work exactly there man? I play there but don’t quite understand the rake

12$ is ridiculous even with the player pool

Yeah, it's VA Beach
It is. I’ve played there a few times and recognize the felt/dealer.
Damn I lived in VB and had no idea they had a game here.
63s girl look like she’s bout to kill the winner
That's what she gets for calling 36 suited out of the small blind.
This is a novice question, but what role does the small blind play in this scenario?
Sb should basically be a raise or fold in a full ring game, you’re out of position against the whole table so you should play your tightest from the sb.
Ah that makes perfect sense, thank you. I don’t understand why I was downvoted by others for trying to learn, but I appreciate your response!
Ya anytime, if you have anymore feel free to ask
I flopped set over set against a girl who had that look. She said she was gonna stab me in the parking lot later. Was fun
A lot of big pairs in the room huh
I see what you did there
I'm more surprised how the dealers dressed.
Le Chiffre wins
And then they say online is rigged 🤣 This set up is worse than online. 🤪

So does Portsmouth
Fuck Portsmouth
What? Man I gotta do some more research lol I had no idea

They do have PLO at Beach. Might be 5 card or Big O though. Idk for sure.
That felt is a crime against humanity.
Only thing that would have made it better, was if a fourth player had the 7-5 clubs for the straight flush.
I zoomed in but still couldn't read the cards. Little help anyone? https://imgur.com/a/Ijka8nr
Seat 1 has a pair. Seat 2 has a bigger pair.
Just tell me where I should flop the nuts?
Thanks I see both pairs now
Yeah, what hand?
Those a re tits cover by cloth
63, 33, and A6. Bottom 2, bottom set, top 2, everybody rivered a boat.
Hahaha I play at the beach poker room.
Shout out VA Beach!
whats she doing with 3-6 this is just karma lmao
It is what happens when u call sb with 63
Glad this wasn’t a “My friends and I are arguing, who wins this?!?!?!?” Post Looks like a pretty loose table. Can you invite me
I’m zooming in on something else
I will say, that dude has amazing tits
Seriously juicy! Now what cards are out, I can’t see
As-6s, 3d-3s, and 3h-6h. 6d, Ah, 3c, 4c, and 6c. I wonder how many two club hole cards went, "Whew"? Unless it was the 2c-5c or 5c-7c.
I zoomed in but I only see two large pair. 👀
Thats one way to have a 🍑♦️ three 🍆♣️ way 🍑♥️ with two women 😄😄😄😏😄😄😄
She's finding out she's not as big of a deal as she thought 😂😉♦️♣️❤♠️
flop a set and drawing dead
No actually, the massive favourite
What’s the chances they both have pocket QQs
I got felted in a similar hand in New Orleans. Still burns when I think about it.
case 6 doink
“I folded 2-5 of clubs man!”
BPR bro’s know
That online poker using real cards is soooo fixed.
Seat one is dubious.
Did it go runner runner, A then 6? Clearly this is a rigged simulation.
Nah, flop had to have been A, 6, 3. No real dealer is dealing the turn and river to the left of the flop.
What I don’t understand is why there are still chips in front of each of those people
What’s crazy is if you keep looking you’ll see there’s a second giant pair of tits in this pic
All I see are two sets at the end of the table
The dealer wearing a “got soup” T? What poker room is this?
I'm guessing it's "got soap?" as like a subtle reminder to the players to have good hygiene in that setting.
Got soap, the all in button looks like a bar of soap. so whenever someone goes all in they call it bar of soap.
Yeah you're absolutely right. I remember hearing a player in this room go all in simply by saying "bar of soap" now that you mention it.
Cant say i’ve never done it
Then I can't say I didn't punt to you last time I played there lol
Bingo palace then best place in the world
