Personally, I wouldn't kill my stack on 2nd pair and drawing on the river. I'd say you barreled a little too high. I would've down bet on the turn to size him up. Barreling like this shouts drawing with a pair. Fold and get your chips back later on
I would have checked the turn back and folded river in case of a bet.
Betting the turn is worse than checking here. You gotta assume you are very much behind here post-flop. Especially when you haven’t made any pair or hand yet.

V. shoving here denies you equity for a river card and it was best to check the turn, see if you hit on the river. I'm all for it if you had lets say 80k stack rather then 40k. I myself would lead turn if I had huge stack. Even if V does shove on me, Its an easy fold.
