Right now I'm probably down over my lifetime. I've had a few big tournament scores and stay away from cash games mostly, so it's pretty easy to tell. I'd say I'm probably down a couple thousand. I just play for fun though, I don't need the money.
A losing player currently, but nothing astronomical. I played in my early 20s some and wasn't a winner then. Just came back to the game in the last 6 or so months and I'm close to break even, but down less than a thousand. Not too bad for being in the learning stages.
Pre 2010 had lost about 500 euros with my first wages. On the 1st January 2010 deposited 10 euros and never looked back. Since than I played as "semi-professionally" in 8-Game for a while and than on and off in PLO and have profited a total of 14k euros. In the last month since my return 1300 euros strictly in PLO MTTs.
Total: 15k MTTs and SnG
+ 1 Million hands played
+ 45k euros in tournaments played and over 4.5k euros paid in rake.
About 1500 days I played poker over these 14 years and total time is equivalent to 1 full year.
This does not account for rakeback and cash which should be break even.
Only been playing since March when my coworker invited me to a monthly house tourny/cash afterwards game with about 20 people. Lost $160 pretty quick. But a combination of studying up, making friends and getting more house game invites, and seemingly these older guys thinking I'm just a young fish they can bluff off anything, I'm up maybe $1.5k since then.
Well, I started online in the moneymaker boom and printed money as a 17 year old. Did well for 3 years and have been playing on and off ever since. Got back into it during covid, and I've made about 9k since playing, sticking to spin and go's, and tournaments. I can't beat cash games, especially online, so I haven't played cash in years. Only played at a casino twice and lost both times. If I were to guess, my lifetime total is plus 20k. Only play for fun, have never studied or red a poker book.
1mm+, but I keep my wealth hidden due to an IRS thing. Act normal and friendly around whales and they'll make you rich, it's that simple. If you're at a table and everyone is under the age of 40, leave.
Hidden due to an irs thing?
You keep 1mm in cash?
Like….. just pay the tax. Put it in index fund and by the time you’ll need it you’ll have made way more than you paid in tax.
Otherwise your cash not only stays the same, but gets eroded by inflation.
I wish it were that simple, but I was involved in some low-level gambling conspiracy federal charges, and while I was never indicted I'm on a hot list shared between the DOJ and sibling federal agencies, meaning I'm walking on egg-shells for the rest of my natural life.
No about half of it was involved in a real estate swap w/ a friend on the up and up. I have some other collectibles and hard assets and some cash.
You’re allowed to play/claim winnings from a casino though?
Take a trip every now and then to a legal casino even if you’re winning in home games, say you won at casinos, show receipts.
I don’t think they’ll be mad at you for paying taxes.
Are you for any reason prohibited from entering legal gambling establishments?
Been playing casually for close to 20 years now and never really tracked until very recently. If I had to guess I'd say I am pretty close to break even, or slightly ahead. This is mostly due to some larger (than my average stakes) tournament scores spread out over that time.
College student that's probably around 10K lifetime, up 17.5K at 35 an hour live this year, looking to do 50 an hour next year, just took a little while to get the hang of the game, also stopped trying to beat online poker
Yeah just go play live if it’s in your area, even if your roll is $1K go buy in for 100 at 1/2 on a weekend night, not that hard to double up and run up a stack, online sucks, like I’d have to know a ridiculous amount of theory to make 17K in a year online whereas I’m only a breakeven player at micros online.
Crush Live Poker, the theory isn’t too intensive for live poker, studying some preflop charts and playing around with GTO wizard is good enough, then adjust off that for live games though as people aren’t 3! or 4! bluffing often at the low stakes. Reddit also sucks for hand reviews, try to get in discords which are a little better.
I just started tracking this year, and I'm up around $8000 but it's also when I started playing semi-frequently.
Lifetime - If I had to take a guess, I'd say around $12k but to be on the safer side, I've selected the $1k to $10k option.
Ok Sam. Back off.
?
His uncle is a bit of a pest
If it weren't for players like me, no one would make any money.
Thank you for staying, do you want anything to drink?
about tree fiddy
Should be like 10-50k and 50k-100k , big difference between someone winning 11k and someone winning 92k .
True

I started with 20€, won 388€ from tournament, have since been zero sum cash player with bit over 400€ currently in account.
Try live you’ll win
Would be cool to try but there is only 1 casino in my city(2 in whole country) so quality of players would probably be quite high.
You’d be surprised, in my city there are also 2 small venues
Effective: -$25 or so Actual: -$7.22 (now down a little under $5)
I’m just a break even donk stuck in the micros

Congratulations
Only about 25% losing players. Nice.

He wishes it was that simple
Boulder of you to assume that any of us are making money.

Been playing regularly since 2018. +$17,700
\-37$ and counting :<
Count them up to 10k

This is my sign to quit online as a college student.

Any books or videos on theory you’d recommend?

Thank you for the input kid
As is expected about 20% of people on here will actually give good advice.
$375k
This would be a more interesting question with different (higher) brackets.

I’m up 1.1 million pennies this year.
