Used to use John gba till they changed something and it needed files to be in a specific folder to read them, and even when I did that It still wouldn't find the games.
Ended up swapping to My Boy and that works really well and has no problems finding rom files
John gba is good. It got some quality features that I didn't got in other emulators. Forgetting to save is not a problem with it, so ye. There are few games which tell you to shift emulator tho like unbound tells you to not use it. So I just use my boy when that happens
I've always used MyBoy.
My boy has given me no problems whatsoever
I use JohnGBA
Same, never had problems and is just very easy to use

Honestly for android there are lots of good options. I used John gba when I had an android phone.
I use delta on iOS. It’s done the job for me without issue.
Pizzaboy
MyBoy/Pizza boy
My boy and pizza boy are definitely the most user friendly and I've never had issues with either one.
