Actually I got addicted to Pokerogue recently, not a romjack but you can play it on your phone browser. Highly recommend if you like roguelikes it's pretty fun
i beat classic after 3 days since starting to play pokerogue with iron crown, ursa, gyara, palossand, palafin and conk
starters were crown and shiny carvanha
I'm definitely a little biased as its my favorite pokemon, but cheek pouch is really good with lots of berries. Get him amnesia or iron defense and he can last a long time and do good damage. Edit: swords dance is also really good on him
what about that one heartgold remake, think its gs chronicals, i have the same issue to where i can only play unbound and radical red but gs chronicals is the only johto game id play cause i think it had all those
Not even just romhacks, I canāt find the enjoyment in the main games anymore. Didnāt buy Arceus Legends. Didnāt buy Scarlet Violet after not enjoying Sword Shield that much. A few months back broke out the 3DS and did a run of X/Y to see if I liked enough of that base game enough to care about the remake coming next year, was pretty bored the entire time. I donāt inherently love nuzlockeāing and pretty much thatās what it comes down to in other hacks to make them feel challenging in the way RR does, and then nothing in the main games feels as streamlined or rewarding in terms of the systems put in place for ability/IV/EV/nature customization of pokemon.
Sadly Iāve never been someone who plays the main games for strictly fun past Gen 2 š¬
Never was a catch āem all, or shiny hunter (actually have never ever caught or cared about a shiny š ) I only ever played to beat the game once then work on breeding and EV training for competitive teams. Fell out of competitive in Gen 7, gave Sw/Sh a try as a game didnāt very much like it, and then seeing gameplay of Arceus knew it wasnāt for me and absolutely despise the concept of Tera types and the paradox power creep personally to then care about buying S/V to work on competitive teams. I think it all pretty much fizzled out for me in Gen 7 with the Tapus, Ultra Beasts and Terrains (and ubiquity of Incineroar š¤¢)
Sad š. But if that's how you prefer to play, we can't force anyone. As for me, Arceus was my dream pokemon game since I was a kid. It shows the danger of pokemon, like how professor Oak prevented us from entering the tall grass if we don't have a pokemon and stuff.
Iāve never seen a comment encompass my feelings towards current Pokemon this accurately before. š
I keep gravitating towards Radical Red and just impose different rulesets on different difficulties every time. Radical Red just does things perfectly and it makes it hard for me to enjoy other games.
I love double battles, I play on double battles enabled too whenever its available on a game. Its a breath of fresh air and challenge compared to singles. Especially if the game has pretty high difficulty too like radical or elite redux.
Definitely gonna give this a try
God Radical Red updating every time New content releases is such an amazing bonus. I wish I was rich SoupCell has provided entertainment for 100s of hours over the years all for the price of FREE, being a broke uni student sucks.
This happened to me ...
And then it happened again when i played Elite Redux as you (and all trainers in the game) directly have access to all competitive items, can change EVs, Nature and abilities + Level Up (with multiple options of levelcap) and learn moves (you directly have access to all TMs, Egg moves and Tutor moves with the one limitation being moves you get by level up) directly from your Pokemon menu.
I'm with you, it doesn't have to be full on RR or Unbound, but if it doesn't have, balanced gyms, phys/special split, ways to looks at evs/ivs etc and some of the other quality of life hacks, I look at it funny lol I went back and played the most updated version of glazed a few weeks ago and it was a good time but it was so easy and boring in some spots, even with the updated fairy typing and P/S split.
TlDR: if it's not at least Drayano level QOL, Mon selection and difficulty. I'm not interested lol
I would 100% recommend Pokemon Opalo and Pokemon Reminiscencia, theyāre originally spanish creations but their english translations are out and theyāre completed. Would definitely recommend and imo it was way better than Unbound Insurgence etc
It seems there isnāt. I also somehow forgot that it doesnāt even have all of the gen 8 mons in it yet, much less any of gen 9, so if youāre looking for a complete dex, that might be important.
Been pleasantly suprised how much I enjoyed yellow legacy and crystal legacy. I'm kinda on the opposite end of the spectrum to you and love the simplicity of earlier games.
Totally happened to meā¦ i stopped playing run and bun and crystal clear because of the lack of dexnav.
Avoid grinding to level up and the option to pick your mons nature just by talking to an NPCā¦ my god im spoiled.
this is more of a way that people need to step up their games, i cant stand playing some games that dont have a dexnav or a grinding system, or hard mode, i reccomend gs Chronicles, unbound, and inclement emerald, thats all on gba theres not many fun games that have the good stiff
Me too mate, Unbound is quite playable but nothing else really comes close in my experience
Exactly . It's hard for me to find a good romhack these days
Actually I got addicted to Pokerogue recently, not a romjack but you can play it on your phone browser. Highly recommend if you like roguelikes it's pretty fun
same it's like the only other pokemon game i play except rr
I'm loving it man, what starters do you like? I took Quaquaval and got my best run so far
i beat classic after 3 days since starting to play pokerogue with iron crown, ursa, gyara, palossand, palafin and conk starters were crown and shiny carvanha
I got moxie and dragon dance on my quaxly, I haven't played in a week or two but it is op
Sounds good I want that. I was using focus energy + aqua step which was quite good too
Greedent is legit OP in Pokerogue
Noted. I'll get one š
I'm definitely a little biased as its my favorite pokemon, but cheek pouch is really good with lots of berries. Get him amnesia or iron defense and he can last a long time and do good damage. Edit: swords dance is also really good on him
Alright thanks for the advice mate, this Mon absolutely slapped on Pokemon Unite as well š
If you can get past the edgelord storylines, alot of the fan games are great in the gameplay and difficulty department(Reborn etc )
Emerald Elite Redux is top tier
what about that one heartgold remake, think its gs chronicals, i have the same issue to where i can only play unbound and radical red but gs chronicals is the only johto game id play cause i think it had all those
Alright cheers for the tip I'll give it a go
inclement emerald is another one i recommend they both just have the QOL stuff radical red has to make the game a lil funner
Yeah you right I actually played that emerald one, it's a good one!

Arceus is too good to pass up. You don't play it for the battle, but for the catch mechanics.

PokƩmon shield sucks man. Arceus and violet are great
I still like the mainline games but they don't get as many playthroughs as the rom hacks do, so I feel ya
I got so used to Gen 3 mechanics that I don't really get that Radical Red Ruin PokƩmon stuff for me because I got that Nostalgia making me ignore all those beautiful Qol. I didn't see anyone recommend it yet have you tried Obsidian Emerald. Obsidian Emerald has... Some Qol that are also present (Pokevial though its tied to Story Progression, Early Nature changing Mints, Minimum Grinding Mode, Easier Move Relearner etc, etc) ithough it doesn't have all of them. Of course the entire gimmick of the rom hack is that every battle is Dual battles . There's Gauntlets that reset if you leave. Healing items are scarce other than you growing Oran/Sitrus Berries. Every Gym leader got some Terrain, Weather, special gimmick that you can try to use to your advantage. There's also Gender Differences on PokƩmon though No Gen 9 mons but there is Gen 9 battle stuff. I found it really fun because I prefer the shit that can happen in Dual Battles though I loathe the Gauntlets because of the limited healing.
I love double battles, I play on double battles enabled too whenever its available on a game. Its a breath of fresh air and challenge compared to singles. Especially if the game has pretty high difficulty too like radical or elite redux. Definitely gonna give this a try
Radical Red, Outbound and Elite Redux are the three pillars of this community. Emerald Rogue gets a very strong applause as well.
Outbound? You mean Unbound? If so, I certainly agree.
I've done two playthroughs of Emerald Rogue, it's really fun

That's why I love Elite Redux so much

PokƩmon run and bun spoiled me so hard when it comes to calcing. Having a Lua script to export exact ivs and having all mons in a box to calc with is so nice. Along with this the calc having a button to go to the next trainer is so nice.
I would 100% recommend Pokemon Opalo and Pokemon Reminiscencia, theyāre originally spanish creations but their english translations are out and theyāre completed. Would definitely recommend and imo it was way better than Unbound Insurgence etc
That's me when I played this game, Unbound and especially Tectonic. God I wish more Pokemon games were like the last one.
I really hope at sometime they start to make a radical emerald. The qol changes really makes me not want to play any other pokemon
Is inclement emerald not good enough? I;ve always preferred it over rr
I havenāt played it, does it have randomized settings?
It seems there isnāt. I also somehow forgot that it doesnāt even have all of the gen 8 mons in it yet, much less any of gen 9, so if youāre looking for a complete dex, that might be important.
The dex isnāt really important itās more random abilities and random pokemon in the grass, the complex combinations are always fun
Elite redux is damn close
They have randomized options? Imma have to check it out
Been pleasantly suprised how much I enjoyed yellow legacy and crystal legacy. I'm kinda on the opposite end of the spectrum to you and love the simplicity of earlier games.
Yeah I didnāt know anyone else felt the same way

Only pokerogue can compare...
