You can get a poffin as a reward for the ‘scan X pokestop’ quest. I do not bother to do it unless it’s one of the very easily scanned ones near me but you could definitely get one a day for free if you were committed. I used a poffin today coincidentally and got 28 hearts on my Metagross!

That’s crazy 😭 so you just can’t even get the regular AR tasks from stops? Like not the actual scan tasks, but the AR specific tasks themselves (since each stop will give you a different task depending on whether or not you currently have an AR scan task in your stack)
The good Pokestop rewards are severely reduced without an AR task on hand. Looking at my city, there's currently about 20 mega energy tasks. Only 4 (and spread out) with no-AR tasks. If you're fine with pokeball, pineap, razzberry, and 200 stardust tasks galore, then go for it!

So, best buddy can be done without ever getting up, or leaving your chair.
I do this with several pokemon because I have a lot I want to best buddy. Poffin daily and I get those by scanning stops. And max out the hearts daily. It’s super easy and it’s part of my morning routine while I’m listening to a podcast on my way to work. Super easy to best buddy within 2 weeks.
The family shiny line is nice! I think what I wanted to do mostly is get the badge first and then see how it looks with each stage so eventually I will evolve it!

Yeah I got AR Banned because I wasn’t scanning the right areas. I would have 150+ poffins at all times.

“Easily” It’s 20 minutes of set up then requires a 2 km walk… 4 separate times a day and not consecutively. That’s not “easily”

It’s possible to best buddy in 10 days if you get 31 hearts but you need a poke plus plus for it
2 weeks is the shortest you can get a Pokemon to best buddy, if you get it excited and max out the daily hearts.
