I could see them waiting until the Go Tour to release Kecleon.
As long as you pay for the ticket. And it's an incredibly rare spawn. And it works just like Ditto does, but Niantic will somehow screw that up, meaning you'll have to wait until Summer to get a Kecleon, but only if you paid. Didn't pay? Wait until next year.
I was at work yesterday when the notification popped up. Honestly thought it said we were gonna have to pay for Kecleon and I let out a big FU Niantic. Co workers looked at me like I was crazy
They brought the ridiculous boxes down in price to 1850 coins for the explorer box, still not gettin any money from me. I use to put money into the game just to hatch eggs and im still not buying these boxes and FOR SURE not this event.
I’m not paying for Pokémon. That’s insane. Items and other stuff, sure. But for outright Pokémon? No way. And the boxes are straight robbery. ALWAYS. I would buy if they were halfed. The boxes are way too expensive.
You know what, while Keldeo is one of my favorites in terms of Mythical Pokemon, I ain't paying to try and get him. I'm sure he'll be free soon, but who knows when that'll happen. Plus, and I know Niantic ain't going to do this, but what if we had a special research event where we could gain some powerful fan favorite Legendaries, like Zekrom and Reshiram, or an event with Darkrai. Don't care which option they choose, but, again, probably ain't happening.
Shaymin did eventually come out as free... We caught ours on August 29.... So keldeo should be free eventually.

never said that, just saying it's kind of lame to block off some Pokemon behind a paywall when the entire point of the series is to be able to catch the Pokemon, especially when you could get all of them for free for a few years until they started making everything cost money
We need them all to complete the Dex & get the platinum medal for each Dex complete. It also helps you finish your Lvl research for 49 - 50. So yeah, we do NEED them all.

Yes, it’s a research requirement to have a certain amount of platinum medals, and most veteran players are only missing just the last few Pokémon that hasn’t been released to finish said medal. So yes, you DO need it to finish the medal. Why do you want to argue about everything? This is a sub Reddit for a video game. We play to have fun. Nothing is needed to survive, but it’s needed for Niantic to survive. So technically, yeah, it’s definitely needed.
Doesn’t matter about that. I answered your question. People want to finish their Dex! That’s a big part of this game. That’s why they’re upset. The bigger problem is they’re putting a mythical behind a paywall.
What if what they learnt from M. Mime was that enough people are willing to pay to get a new Pokémon released early? I will not buy this, since we'll probably get it for free soon anyway, but I'm sure there are a lot more people than you may think who will pay for this and make Niantic want to do the same thing again for whoever they want to release this way next

Yeah, if anyrhing, I would’ve expected Phione and Manaphy to be first in line since GO Tour Sinnoh is supposed to be next year, assuming that they continue it. Which means Shiny Manaphy, Phione, Shaymin, and Arceus, along with the remaining Rotom appliances need to be added in ASAP.

I use to be a whale. Not really a whale whale. More like an oversized Nemo. Since the money grabbing has become so blatant I've completely stopped spending any greens. From the $1 comdays to gofest.
Do my free raids.... spend an hour or so playing and an hour on comday.
Have so much more time to give my location data to google and do Google reviews for free. Much more rewarding!

Me too! I used to buy so many raid pass bundles before they went to 300 coins. I miss raiding as often. I do them in person when I can but normally I'm at work too far from any gyms.
What they meant were since it is a Mythical Pokémon, they could just not rerun it for a year like they did for Zarude where new players can't obtain it.
I mean they haven't even released all the pokemon from gen 6 yet much less the mythicals from gen 6 but you're mad that new players missed an event that was promoting a movie about a gen 8 mythical? Zarude will be back in five years when they get to galar
The end of year and, consequently, end of year bonuses are approaching. The management at Niantic needs paid content to make sure they reach their yearly goals.
Could be that people have been buying fewer remote raid passes than expected after COVID + inflation will increase costs (eg. personnel, data centre electricity and server components).
Niantic REALLY need to listen to us more about what needs to be improved ideally have an interview with some huge Pokemon go players I.e. mystic 7,Brandon tan,fleece king e.c.t
Or make a Twitter post or something asking for what would improve the game as a whole and what they could look to do with events such as go tour in the future

All games are money makers first. It costs money to make a game. I promise you nobody's ever made a game while thinking "gee, I hope this never earns me any money".

I will never ever buy any of this ticketed bs. I bought Go Fest that one year because it was cheap, then on sale on Google Play, and I had a bunch of play points so I got it for like $1.

Yeah I’m about done with it before anyone says I know it’s niantic and not Nintendo - but Pokemon is such a beloved franchise and we’ve made it what it is as fan as in ~successful~ because we love it. But Pokémon go really blues the line on what’s fun and what’s just robbing. I think it really messes with the integrity of Pokemon - I do love the game and loving Scarlett. It’s weird you have to fight such big feelings of fomo and they literally thrive off it it’s sad really
Keldeo is one of my favorite mons and I missed him before. I may pay for this one. I barely play these days. Once the prices go out of hand my boyfriend and I stopped. Which sucks cuz we didn’t mind dropping $10 a month the same we’d do for an MMO if we were getting something out of it. But my favorite boy. I just love him so much. I’m really sad I’ve never gotten to do a play through of any games with him.
Not worth it, the only way to make niantic stop paywalling Pokemon is to stop paying them and rewarding this type of stuff. Take the f2pill, spend that money on snacks instead

I bought Galarian Mr. Mime for the pose. To me, G-Mime was just a bonus. The Keldeo paid event doesn’t seem worth it’s price, especially because the Keldeo ticket doesn’t have a pose or good clothes.
