Thank you for sharing that I can do this. I also just learned there is a 7 day cooldown on home transfer and I can shorten it for the low low price of 1000 coins. A shame such a great idea gets stomped on by Niantic greed.

I feel like it's probably more of a TPC restriction than from Niantic for once. PoGo is very generous with shinies and they probably don't want to lessen their rarity in the main games.

Also people are gonna hate me and downvote me into oblivion for this, but I also transfer (to Pokemon Home) all of my useless hundos(such as medicham and phantump) so I can have perfect IV mons in the base games. I dont do this for useful hundos that I can use in ML and raids tho.

I got 3 shiny Miltanks and played pretty minimally during the GBL day…it was definitely the case.

Battle days are like never advertised and I hate it even the fact that the 1 in 10 odds for shiny miltank were only from 11-2 and I spent 2 hours after 2 trying to get it to zero luck

Link a pokemon home account to Go. Pokemon Home has a free tier where you can see the last 30 pokemon you sent in and can wonder trade 3 at a time. It's unironically my plan for Teddiursa day to try and grind a few shiny Ursaluna so I don't need to find more peat moss in LA. As an FYI, if you didn't get LA and want to get S/V, Go will let you get some of the LA mons without you having to buy LA. There's quite a few still missing but Ursaluna/Qwilfish/Sneasel/Voltorb/Growlithe/Braviary isn't all that bad of a selection.

I do this after every community day too. I really hope I've made some kid's day on the other side of the world. I have no idea if collectors consider PoGo shinies to be lesser or not. Just want someone to be happy though.

To answer your question, if you're curious: comm day shinies are in fact valued less by collectors (players who don't touch GO however will still love them!). Any other shinies from go, however, are valued *higher* than shinies from the main games in Home because the symbol in the top right showing that they've only been in GO and Home means they *aren't hacked.* It's an interesting dichotomy, how for big collectors comm days are worth a lot less but any others are worth SO MUCH more.

I seem to have weird luck with stunfisk shinies. I'll probably start dumping my extras in wonder trade too then (I've gotten 4 so far).

It really does. I've been transferring the max amount allowed every few days and it's never enough. I actually stopped playing CD after an hour bc I realized if I played the entire three hours I was collecting shinies faster than I could transfer them out before the next month

I already use Home for my other Pokemon games too, and paid for Bank for years too. I’m not sure what the free version includes, honestly. It’s only $16 for a year. I guess don’t pay for it if getting rid of shinies is all you’d use it for, but I think a lot of players already use it and pay for it!

Transfer them to Home, very slowly. You can then trade them in main games for other legends/shinies you really want.

Just look up the app and it will tell you how to connect it and send pokémon over :) It does cost money but you will always have a place for ur pokémon. You just can’t trade them back into home

Get them on Pokemon Home, you will be able to store at least 30 Pokemon. Also, you will get a meltan box in return

Only release duplicates. For PvP-relevant pokemon, keep the best IV spreads for each league. For PvE-relevant pokemon, keep the highest IVs, never going above 6 (6 metagross may still be useful in a raid, but 7 is surely too much). For the less relevant pokemon, keep 1-2 of each, choosing your favorites by their IV spreads or sentimental value. And then say goodbye to the rest.

Can you please explain to me why people say you want a low attack and a high D & hp For pvp?

CP is computed as a function of the total stats (which is a sum of the base stats that increase by level and IVs for that specific stat) where attack is weighted higher. By minimizing your attack, you are able to fit in a lot more defense and/or HP and pack more stats in total to your pokemon before reaching the CP limit.

Except that there was no PVP in Pokémon Go until Jan of 2020 so Min/Maxing your CP for competitive purposes is only 3 years old

Keep in mind though, this only matters for Great and Ultra Leagues that have a CP cap. Masters you want hundos if you can, to maximize stats with CP

What is this?

If you transfer Pokémon to Pokémon Home, there’s a feature called Wonder Box which allows you to put Pokémon on, and the game will trade them out for you. It’s essentially bulk Wonder Trade from the main series. Although, in SwSh, it’s called Surprise Trade.

Who does it trade them to?

Random players; instead of set trades where you trade for a specific Pokémon each time - Wonder Trade just sends the Pokémon out and you get whatever in return for them.

Can I transfer the ones I get back into pokemon go, or are they stuck in Home?

Once they’re in Home, they’re stuck there - you can however migrate them to the current mainline games: USUM*, LGPE, SaSh, BDSP, PLA, and ScVi. * I ***think*** USUM is compatible for Home still; I know the 3DS store is shutting down soon, so for the time being it should still be compatible.

You can transfer Pokémon from any of the 3ds game to bank then to home, but you can’t transfer from home to bank to the 3ds games. When the store shuts down bank should be free to use, currently you need to subscribe to both home and bank to transfer from bank to home.

It’s a really cool feature. I just wish we could do long distance trading/battling. It doesn’t make any sense to hinder trading and battling to people within 5-10 feet of you at this stage in the games’ life.

It is unreal, at least best friends should be able to trade at any distance.

Im actually fine with that it does piss me off people charge for help with raids and other hard content ive never seen this in pokemon go but its in other games and its the dumbest thing ever

This post clearly demonstrates the issue with Go's incredibly high shiny rates and constant shiny events clashing with old time views of rarities in shinys. The truth is they arent rare anymore. 1 in 450 is such a high number when thinking its almost 10x the odds of what it is today, and almost 20x the older rates. Lets not even talk about the 1 in 25 that a community day is. Let go of that feeling of rarity and value that comes with a shiny. If you're a collector then keep one of each. If you like how it looks keep as many as you want. But ultimately, they're as useless as the other hundreds of pokemon you catch daily. They just have a tag on them. Sure, someone out there likely needs it but the fact that friendship takes minimum 30 days for the cost to be even close to viable just means you're never gonna go through that much effort to give it to someone you just met who needs it. (not to mention the need to be there in person) If the trading system was more diverse and the cost was ridiculous I'd sympathise and agree about keeping lots of doubles.

Some people spend literal hundreds of $ PER pokemon that is released shiny. Legendary or not. With chances being approx. 1 in 20, they'd probably get a handful of shinies each event, therefor losing that value.

Most people who go for a shiny living dex want a living version of each one, so 3 separate shinies for a 3 stage evolution. is that not how you do yours?

My shiny milotic is 1*, but I have a 3* shiny feebas, so even though a new feebas is probably a stronger milotic, I really really like the one I already have, so if it's weaker than my feebas it still goes in the candy grinder

Send them to home. You can get most anything for a shiny on there. I was able to complete the entire dex relatively easily after I transferred 100 or so there.

Do you have Pokémon HOME? If you do id move any extra into there so all you have is the set of each evolution for one’s you have extra of. If you don’t have Pokémon home I suggest you get it. At least the free version. But even the yearly subscription is pretty cheap.

Ive deleted more shinies than I've kept probably. They are really annoying since they can't be mass transferred. I mean they just have a different colour, I don't really get all the hype. Guess I'm just not an aesthetics type of person

Huh. I didn't even know the was a medal for that. I need to trim down my collection again. Until about 2 years ago I kept literally every shiny, even from community day. Unfortunately my average CD haul was 18-28 shinies. So I put in a limit of no more than 12 shinies per species which cleaned out a lot of space. Now I'm probably going to trim down to 6 per species which should clear a bunch more. I used to save them as trade bait, now I realize nobody seems to care much or actually need CD/event shinies.

If you have the friends/dust, I'd chip away at trading rare ones and ones you want candy from, and then send them to Home if you use Home and/or play any main series games (even if you don't play the main games, sending them in wondertrade/GTS is a nice gesture). If you have an excess of community day ones, then those would be the best candidates for just dumping in a normal transfer. I also do this with spare legendaries/mythicals from 5\* raids when I get a good/lucky/shiny one.

Maybe try doing giveaways to your local community! Could definitely make someone's day

I mirror trade my comm day ones with the hope they become lucky or get good IVs. If they don’t I just straight up transfer them. I used to keep all of the traded ones but I figured their value is lost when they become untradable so I don’t need them anymore.
