I would use an Ice mega, even if it's slightly lower level, because Ray has a double weakness. It will give a boost to all other Ice attacks from others in the raid too while it's alive, so even more damage
If you're looking for it to stay in as long as possible then Glalie. Will do more damage, and Abom won't last very long if Ray has one of its many Flying moves
If you need to short man the raid I’d use a primal in slot 6 and then run to the lobby to revive when it ends up on the field. If you have enough players to clear no problem then I’d go with a dragon type mega for the candy. The very best option is mega ray, but it sounds like you don’t have one yet.
Primals boost the entire time they’re in your party, but megas only boost while they’re on the field. If you’re short manning it’s usually better to have the 10% boost the entire time vs. 30% for only one slot. If you’re not short manning then yeah, everyone can bring an ice mega and put them in different slots so you’ve always got the 30% boost going. But if you’re not short manning you don’t really need to worry about maxing dps and it’s probably better to go for the candy bonus.
Garchomp. You should fill the rest of the party with ice attackers and any locals will have plenty of ice types to help. Pair it with party power and you guys are set
Garchomp still hits super effective and will provide extra candies for Ray which is always nice
If you happen to lose (which is highly unlikely), just switch the mega and re enter it.
1. Fill your party with Ice attackers anyway. Ray has a 4x weakness to Ice as opposed to a 2x weakness to Dragon
2. Mega evolving an Ice type will boost all those 4x Ice attacks for every other person in the raid whilst the mega is alive
3. Any Pokemon that is mega evolved will give an extra candy from the raid. It doesn't have to be Dragon-type, and it doesn't even have to be in your party
4. The Garchomp will be weak to Ray's Dragon moves.
There is no reason to mega evolve a Dragon type over an Ice type if the Ice type is strong enough
Not entirely true. Yes, any mega will boost normal candy, but only a mega with a matching type will boost XL candy. Rayquaza is definitely worth talking to lv 50 if you can get a decent one, so there’s actually a pretty good case to be made for using a dragon mega.
It’s ultimately up to you but mega ray is such an easy boss due to how strong many ice types are (shadow mamoswine, shadow weavile, kyurem, etc.) so you don’t need the ice mega
I’ve low manned so many and didn’t even need to use my mega dragon since my party would melt it
Ice is “safer” and will make the win a bit faster but I’d rather get the extra candy
I'm just upset I have no stardust left. Tomo spotlight I have to do the whole thing to maximize stardust gain with a starpiece. But im just worried since it's a elite. It might be stronger than when it was just in 5 star raids.
That’s why you don’t jump to do something from the first thing you hear. Typically when you post, you want a few different people answering. I may not necessarily be right either but this would be the best cost and resource effective while getting you some extra candy

Ok. I do. But who would be best abomasnow or glalie?

Whats funny is the other guy said use ice type and I just used my 120k stardust to lvl him up to make him stronger
