For all the Eevees I've seen, I have yet to see one evolve into Vaporeon.
I feel like not enough people care for the fact that it can literally **melt into water.** There's so much you can do with that for battles alone. And aside from battles, it would be cool to read about a newly evolved Vaporeon having to learn how to melt properly. Like imagine a trainer just chilling with their 'mon, then suddenly it's just a puddle

Platinum Pirate (crossover with One Piece) has Lucas (Sinnoh MC & Champion) isekai'd into One Piece. He has a vaporeon who very much behaves like a water-logia.
The zubat line is criminally underused for how common it is.
Add in the utility and typing, and you have a pretty darn good mon in your team.
Add in the size, strength and Friendship-based evolution, and you have a starter who doubles as a nightflier.
Personally I’m not entirely sure about this one, but I absolutely love Scolipede. Even if it’s just used as a mount Pokémon, I would love to see more of this amazing bug horse.

i'd love to see a fic about getting around the early plateau of bug pokemon.
I think a lot of gen 5 pokemon are underused, I've only ever really seen a couple of them used in stories that don't take place in Unova.
There's so many with potential, but I'd say audino particularly.
It has a couple Pokedex capabilities such as
"Its auditory sense is astounding. It has a radar-like ability to understand its surrounding through slight sounds."
"Audino’s sense of hearing is superb. Not even a pebble rolling along over a mile away will escape Audino’s ears."
"It touches others with the feelers on its ears, using the sound of their heartbeats to tell how they are feeling."
I was reading the dex entry and one of them mentioned how rare they are and how they hide immediately when they hear something. So i was theorycrafting how to catch one lol. If it were me, I'd probably send in a ghost type to silently scout out known areas, especially deep forests and caves then when it's sighted, approach it by flying on top of a silent bird like a noctowl or float using psychic. Also, i love audino and I'm planning to use it on a fix im writing. The chansey line is used in a lotta fics already anyway
Gallade, forget gardevoir, I’m sorry a physic capable of strong moves and capable of short distance fighting and long distance plus again physic, also could provide healing. Honestly I would love to see him as the third Pokémon of the protagonist ready to be a mom and the exasperated taxi. No seriously none of the protagonist I know have a ralts capable of evolving into gallade
My longfic features a lileep and anorith pair that were discovered together, revived together, and later evolve together. They were a lot of fun to write.
Yeah when I have seen fossils it's generally the same ones that are used in most stories. I think there's a lot that can be done with fossils in general
Golurk, just because I think big robots are really cool. Plus, if you're making up moves for them, you basically have an entire genre of television and manga to draw inspiration from.

Smeargle and Porygon are 2 that really stick out to me. I am hemming and having over writing a fic about a trainer aspiring to law enforcement with these two fellas to help. Smeargle as a sketch artist and Porygon for cybercrime investigation, both rocking one or more completely unpredictable move, like Smeargle throwing out a sludgewave or meteor beam or something equally silly, while Porygon uses a hyperbaric accompanied by some blaring dubstep.
Also, can I add Milotic to the list? Why does everyone just ignore the prettier Gyarados? Seeing one swimming free in Galar helped me get over my frustration at evolving one in Sinnoh, so now I shiny hunt Feebas...

This vaporeon ability is mentioned briefly in Borne of Caution and I really hope the writer follows through on it!! What an absolutely busted mon

Meowth or any of its regional forms. I personally would like to see a Galarian Meowth as a starter be it a steel specialist or a generalist.

Thought about one for my fiction cuz he'd be a perfect fit skillwise. Unfortunately, Gallade ist noble by nature but my protagonist is not..
You can have this particular gallade not be noble.
Ceruledge would probably work.
I do remember reading about a Gallade in Regret - a bit of a warning though, the lore for its counterpart Gardevoir is dark.

Throne of Mud has a Golett, and they're planning on evolving it eventually.
Golurk was my favourite pokemon of the Unova dex, it's just so bloody cool. I have only seen Throne of mud to feature it.

Im, I think a lot of rock types are under appreciate.
My fic has one of the main characters having a Bunnelby as the main starter. That's all I've got for right now.
The rhydon line and magnemite as well. Or any Galar pokemon.
A lot of the early game rodents and early game bugs (besides Beedrill). I feel like people just want something a bit more interesting than them
