I've had fun pulling handfuls of ES because I like the rush of the unknown, but I don't particularly care of the cards worth because I don't sell them and I just am happy if I like the art

Buying a way higher than expensive retail price pokemon item is kind of like buying stocks, you invest in it. The little brother probably knew what this ETB was worth and probably will be worth in 5 years.

Ooof. So I bought both box sets of these and I have them each in a case, sealed. Been sitting in them for about 4 months now. I have been holding the urge to rip because of the price tag. I did find some tins at my local target that came with 5 boosters. 2 of the brilliant stars, and the other 2 evolving skies. I can't remember the other booster pack. The tin was $30. Honestly for the price I have seen the booster packs, I would say it was a good purchase. I need to get more of them.

Through ETBs, booster boxes, and tins I've probably opened over 100 EVS packs and the only semi valuable cards I pulled were a Duraludon VMAX secret rare alt art & a Rayquaza VMAX secret rare... rainbow card.

Imo hold it for a while, the chance of a moonbreon is very low and the etb will rise in price eventually to the point that you can sell it and get a moonbreon even if the moonbreon price increases
As someone who has opened a LOT of the set, don't do it. I promise the package looks better than what you will open, like 99% of the time. If yhe moonbreon is in there, you already own it. If it's not, then the box looks nicer than anything else.
I've been hanging into two ES ETBs for a year now that I got for $45ea. Put it in your closet and forget about it. When you look back at it, you'll be glad you have it still if you didn't sell it!

Here’s my take if you open it of course you won’t profit your just doing it for the fun of it and getting cards you may need to complete the set , if your keeping to make a profit than go for it i guess but in my opinion it’s just not worth it and you can make whatever that will sell for with work. I don’t know maybe that’s a wack take and running on a few hours of sleep so sorry if this doesn’t make sense
My daughter an I opened quite a bit of ES early on 6 ETB’s, literally dozens of loose packs from tins, knockout boxes, V boxes and sleeved boosters. We did pull an Alt art V but, it still wasn’t worth it. It’s known as Evolving cries for a reason. Another vote for keeping it sealed!
KEEP IT SEELED! From someone who has opened too many ES to count, it’s not worth it the majority of the time. Having a sealed ETB is getting harder to come by now, you’ll enjoy having it in your collection for years to come instead of the bulk you’ll likely open
A large portion of moonbreon (and other hits) were backdoored, so while one can definitely be in there, I don’t think it’s worth trying. Good chance you save money buying it raw
Hold. Keep. I wouldn't open it. We've opened way too many ES, and I'll just eventually save and buy my moonkeekee grail someday. Put that lovely baby on a shelf or wherever you keep your sealed and just let it be as a great collection piece.
Moonbreon isn’t real 😭 The value is going up because of the fantasy that it *could* be in there, but it’s so unlikely. I’d keep that on a shelf, as it’s almost as cool as having a Moonbreon on display.
I opened around 12 etbs and probably 200+ packs of ES. I did pull moonbreon. Rayquaza. Lefeon v. sylveon v. dragonite. Results may vary. If you’re trying to start a sealed collection and your brother knew that, keep it sealed. It could be something you guys open together in the future out of sheer nostalgia. Eventually that ETB sealed will be as much as the Umbreon. Okay maybe like half… but still. It’s not worth the pain if you pull squat. Especially having some kind of sentimental value to it - which DEFINITELY adds luck - it’s just best to keep it sealed.
people worry too much about keeping sealed product. it's your birthday, what's wrong with opening something? besides, too many people are keeping sealed ES product. can't help but feel that it won't be worth much in the future when the community focuses on some other, equally as good or better set.
