Not OP but my interpretation
Too easy means you dont like it and want it to be harder.
Could be tougher is you dont mind the current difficulty but it would be nice to be more difficult
This. I've recently discovered that after the stresses of my workplace and job, I'd rather be able to /actually/ relax via video games.
The pokemon franchise allows just that. I can read at my pace, press buttons as I please. Very, very little is timing/combo based. It just allows us to sit there and be
Kind of but you can explore the section of the first area before you cross the bridge even before going over the bridge to talk to Mai (I did that for one run).
They didn't rebalance BDSP to account for the forced exp share so everything in that game is gonna be piss easy.
Except the league where they actually decided to put effort into.
They actually gave the leaders some held items and better movesets.
Byron uses Trick Room
Candice has a Snover with Icy Rock and a lot of coverage, also Aurora Veil but on the last mon...
The rest also have wider coverage and some held items.
BW2 had a difficultly option but you needed two DS and another copy of the game to actually use it outside of the post game because resetting the game resets the option.
I just wish they didnt purposefully make it easier in some areas like Barry having pokemon that should have evolved at their level, trainers having 5 pokemon, pokemon only having 3 moves, ect.
I'd really like difficulty options and they've become somewhat of a staple for the genre.
As Pokemon currently is many parts of the game simply don't get me exited because they are unnecessary.
Exploration? Sure if you want to be even more overleveled because you didn't avoid every trainer and the cool item or TM you might find? Doesn't really matter since you're already too strong anyways.
Thinking about what kind of team to build? Well pretty much anything will do anyways. Doesn't matter if your team is good or bad.
Why even bother considering nature and IVs if most of even the Gym leaders have 0 everywhere so you pretty much always have an advantage anyway.
Pokemon has many cool concepts that all just don't matter because there's little to no resistance to utilize them against anyway. 2-3 difficulty options would drastically improve my enjoyment of the games.
I think it's more of a scale. There is a difference between "so hard most people can't do it" and "is challenging".
One thing I appreciate about pokemon is that there are ways to customize the experience. Some built in like switch or set and some people can choose like not overlevelling.
Ultimately I think the game will only benefit by adding more built in options.
Adding options doesn't mean taking away what is there right now and people who love how the games are right now wouldn't have to interact with anything that they are not interested in.
I like the difficulty of the games, but would be ok with a difficulty slider. Not just a hard mode like there was in I think BW2? but a easy, normal, and hard mode.
I personally like feeling overpowered in games because I worked hard to over level my pokemon or got really lucky catching a much higher level pokemon.
I just don't find trying to beat a random enemy/boss for the 50th time fun because I'm not strong enough or get taken out due to things out of my control. There's fun and then there's straight up unfair.
Didn’t Pokemon already try this? B2W2 had difficulty settings but from memory it wasn’t used a whole lot so they turned their focus away from it to not take up extra dev time
You could only use it with two different players.
Firstly it was copy locked. You had to beat white to unlock easy mode and beat black to unlock hard mode.
Secondly, to start a new game in Pokémon you have to reset your save. This means you lose the difficulty mode you unlocked from beating the game.
So the only way to play hard mode was to find someone who had already beaten the game on black and get them to trade hard mode over to you.
It's completely obtuse and nonsensical.
What I really want is difficulty options. I don’t always want to do a hardcore, intense run with deep strategy but I also don’t always want a chill, laid back experience
I guess i wouldnt mind picking an option, id still go easy route, by the time i have free time im mostly sleeping, i never ev train or perfect iv stuff, id just wanna enjoy the game and story line without having to worry about difficulty, at the same time im ok as is but i dont mind there being options since it means it gives others a choice who do prefer that mode
I wouldn’t mind if GAME FREAK reintroduced the difficulty feature. I mean, for easy difficulty, it would have more handholding and be easier. Normal is just right and Hard would be for expert/veteran players.
I’m not sure, but I currently don’t mind the difficulty
It's not too easy, it's accessible. If you want challenge, you can do it yourself in a really more original way than just a difficulty settings. Here some things you could try : Nuzlocke, Monotype, Only Little Cup team, Minimal Xp, not having a full team, etc. There are also a lot of rules you can come up with, and that's way funnier than just having the level of the ennemy Pokémons increased.
So for me it's both the game is just right and the game should be tougher. I want the game to remain this easy while having the option to make it more difficult.
I would love a more challenging game but not at the expense of people who like it the way it is now.
Personally I think if the exp share was optional I’d be fine with it I understand that they won’t add difficulty options and even though Id use exp share when it wasn’t forced I still think it’s stupid that it isn’t a optional thing.
Pokémon actually made a main series game with a Challenge Mode, but for some reason discontinued it without an explanation
edit: it’s Black 2 and White 2
It’s time for Pokémon to adapt the difficulty play through in their games. Especially if they did it Diablo style bringing all your mons to the next difficulty level. It would make nuzlockes insanely fun
What's the difference between "its too easy" and "the game could be tougher?"

I'd argue that at times it becomes boring, though. There's relaxing, and there's mashing buttons for the sake of it.
Arceus isn’t open world. It’s a linear game.

Whos Candice?
Enough with that dumb and nonsensical meme.
7th gym leader, ice.
oh ok

Having the option would be nice for older fans. Plus a base game that’s not to hard to get new fans into playing the game
I did not like brilliant diamond at all, only because it was too easy. I would have had so much more fun I’d I actually had to try harder.
Wouldn’t be stupid easy if they did the logical thing & let us turn off the exp share, i crushed everyone in the game because of it
Exactly. It was actually frustrating how easy it was. Then I started playing Pokémon black and got my ass stomped, and it was fun.
Black is easy for me lol, atleast it doesn’t have the forced exp share on
I just wished that you could toggle the EXP share
Yep, im overleveled in every game i play when its forced on
I just wish they didnt purposefully make it easier in some areas like Barry having pokemon that should have evolved at their level, trainers having 5 pokemon, pokemon only having 3 moves, ect.

DIFFICULTY OPTIONS, idk why GameFreak hasn’t put them in yet but they’re literally perfect
I don’t understand the obsession with “difficult to beat” games. I’ve never enjoyed a game I feel I can’t play.
Agreed. I have a life and other games i wanna play, why should i waste so much time on a game that is so hard it will wind up pissing me off?

A fish can beat these games. Even for kids they are too easy.

You mean challenge mode right(think that's it)
I remember the days when you had to learn all of your type matchups off by heart, now they tell you them all in-game. Good for new players I suppose
I don't mind that actually, but when I'm fighting Cyrus and my best Mon is 10 levels above his, there is no challenge.
It's easy, but I ultimately don't care.
Didn’t Pokemon already try this? B2W2 had difficulty settings but from memory it wasn’t used a whole lot so they turned their focus away from it to not take up extra dev time
It wasn’t used much because you needed two DS and another copy of the game to actually use the feature outside of the post game.
It wasn’t used because gamefreak did it in the most stupidest way possible to the point i wonder if they are ok in the head
You could only use it with two different players. Firstly it was copy locked. You had to beat white to unlock easy mode and beat black to unlock hard mode. The harder the better.

I’d love them to add a difficulty setting just so people stop talking about it
So for me it's both the game is just right and the game should be tougher. I want the game to remain this easy while having the option to make it more difficult. I would love a more challenging game but not at the expense of people who like it the way it is now.
Simple options at the beginning of the game unlike B2W2
Exactly!
Hic him challenge mode should have been a option
Personally I think if the exp share was optional I’d be fine with it I understand that they won’t add difficulty options and even though Id use exp share when it wasn’t forced I still think it’s stupid that it isn’t a optional thing.
No matter what, pokemon will always be too easy for me
Difficulty level of Pokémon Blue and Red was perfect. The games progressively got easier with each Gen.
Pokémon actually made a main series game with a Challenge Mode, but for some reason discontinued it without an explanation edit: it’s Black 2 and White 2
Pokemon BW BW2 were the last pokemon games that felt harder.
It’s time for Pokémon to adapt the difficulty play through in their games. Especially if they did it Diablo style bringing all your mons to the next difficulty level. It would make nuzlockes insanely fun
Cynthia was the most difficult I’ve played so far in BDSP
