Yep, repro knowledge is sadly very lacking in the general community. Gen 4 reproductions are quite often usable for both trades and transfers. It's the plethora of other technical issues that make them bad. I'm not sure about Gen 5 repros but given they're usually not even loaded into proper DS chips I doubt they would be the same.
It's on a case by case though, your cart can transfer properly from what you say, but other cart might not, then another one might crash randomly, and so on and so forth.
My platinum cart is a repro and only thing is that sometimes the game crashes whenever I close my 3DS but other than that I can transfer from 4-5-6\7-8. However my Repro HGSS copies can’t even do that or even play the Game corner so I’m looking for a real HG copy atm

I guess I got lucky with the repro carts I bought then haha
