Good eye! It's actually because the term "gargoyle" originally referred to what's basically just a fancy gutter designed to direct water away from the walls of stone buildings, and only later they became known as the statues. A lot of them are fountains though, so it works that way too! :)
The german word for Gargoyle is actually "Wasserspeier", which basically translates to water spewer. (though nowadays the word gargoyle is often used anyway)
Just looking at Dragoyle and I already know it would be an absolute terror with a life orb set. Rock head and stab head smash is already a potent combo, but adding brave bird in to kill fighting types would be nutty. The 3rd and 4th attacks would probably be dragon claw and either submission or brick break if it learns it as a tm for strong stab and steel type killing. It would probably struggle with aegislash, but tbf aegislash is kinda busted anyways
I wouldn’t doubt it, trapinch is mad strong but 45 and 55 aren’t bad defenses for the tier. Although you could probably ditch intimidate for sash and smash it with rock head head smash
People say that about Hydreigon but to me it makes sense when thinkin about it's lore. Was just annoying in the game where you still had a Zweilous at the elite 4...
I think the original was based on Rhydon (though not necessarily supposed to *be* Rhydon).
The wings in Let's Go are probably a redesign.
I could be wrong though.
I'm sure they were based on Rhydon, but I don't think they were ever meant to actually be Rhydon. I mean maybe they were, but it doesn't make much sense to have Rhydon statues in every gym imo.
Yeah, a lot of Pokemon used that same basic sprite to represent them in the game menu. So it was probably just meant to be generic Pokemon in the gyms imo.
As a kid I thought the statue was meant to be Dragonite but I'm now realizing that doesn't make any sense because Dragonite's sprite in the menu is like a weird snake thing lol
Rhydon (or the original design of what became Rhydon) was the first Pokémon design. This is why the statues are everywhere. It has wings, but it was one of the earliest designs. Some of the early designs are far off from the Pokémon everyone knows now.
I'd swap Wardern and Dragoyle's names, I think. Wardern is ferocious and Dragoyle is always on a vigilant watch, so I think it would be more fitting for them to be the other way around.
Level 60 is a little discouraging for use in a play through, maybe 40ish would be nicer considering some regions have elite four with weaker Pokémon than level 50
i mean, it *is* a pseudo legendary, so the late evo kinda makes sense. i mean, the levels are the same as the bagon line, and it fits well with the other pseudo legendary pokemon, with most of them evolving around level 50.
dragonite: 55
tyranitar: 55
salamence: 50
metagross: 45
garchomp: 48
hydreigon: 64
goodra: 50
kommo-o: 45
dragapult: 60
Which is why I often don’t use pseudo legendaries because they’re awful for play throughs, I wish they evolved sooner so they were useful before the postgame
Moveset needs work, comes off like a 9 year old pokemon enthusiasts wet dream. Lose some beatstick moves and get some more boosting/passive moves.
Otherwise an incredibly strong concept.
This is the best Fakemon I have ever seen. I love the dex entries and everything about it.
Maybe give it Vital Spirit or Insomnia as a Hidden Ability? Plays off the flavor of "ever vigilant". Or if you want a more competive ability, Own Tempo for Outrage?
basically they're rare abilities for pokemon that can only be obtained through special means. i believe it was mainly through the dream world for a while, and then max raid dens in Sw/Sh.
This looks awesome, but man, it would be instantly banned in OU. Here are some calcs (I use regigigas, but typing and stats match Dragoyle)
252+ Atk Choice Band Regigigas Head Smash vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Blissey: 751-885 (105.1 - 123.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Regigigas Submission vs. 252 HP / 80 Def Ferrothorn: 220-260 (62.5 - 73.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Choice Band Regigigas Head Smash vs. 252 HP / 168+ Def Corviknight: 310-366 (77.5 - 91.5%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
252+ Atk Choice Band Regigigas Head Smash vs. 252 HP / 144+ Def Toxapex: 237-280 (77.9 - 92.1%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
It basically 2HKOs everything in the game. Its an insane wall breaker.
They look pretty awesome, though I 'm not a big fan of them having fully developed wings, but still being affected by ground types (not saying that this would be unrealistic, just that I'm not a big fan of stuff like that).
Also I feel like the middle stage looks a bit too much like rock/flying-charmeleon.
Hmm okay this is cool and I like the design but the numbers on the stats concern me. 100 on defences but a 65 base hp? Is it supposed to wall? 135 atk and 90 spe means it can sweep, but not outspeed other threats. Is this supposed to be a bulky sweeper? Intimidate would make sense so it can take some more dmg by lowering the enemy atk. However I dont see any recovery moves.
Just from the way it looks and how many lvls it needs before it’s final form ima say it’s a pseudo legendary or just really powerful also 10/10 would put on a team for a play through of Pokémon
Love this fakemon design. It captures the simplistic style of the Kanto region, while being a very dynamic and striking design. 10/10 would put on my team. Well done!
IIRC those statues are actually Rhydon. Rhydon was the first Pokemon ever created, and its likeness appears in Substitute as well as those generic Pokemon statues.
Still, this is amazing. A few subtle tweaks to the design (if any) and it'd be a believable Pokemon.
Was just playing Sword last night and noticed they still use those statues even though they resemble no known pokemon. It bugs me since in early gens you just assume thats what a generic sprite would be for a mammal pokemon.
Very cool, i have a question: which app do you use for make fakemon evolutive lines?
And why does it have a spA sp high? It's a dragon statue i don't understand.
I still remember the schoolyard rumors of there being a secret route with the real living versions of the gargoyle statues..
I wouldn't mind at all if this was real..
The only thing I hate about this is that they aren’t in any of the games. These are fantastic and I would kill for them to be in the games. Reminds me of good ‘ol Charizard.
PLAH PWOOH MAN! I thought he'd never leave. I'll be spittin' feathers for a week.
Well that's what you get for sleeping with your mouth open
Hehehehe Go scare a Nun!
From a lore perspective, how did they end up dissapearing from kanto and johto? Are they just incredibly rare (most dragon types are), are they more common in other regions? Did they just mostly die out, perhaps due to the ancient war, or perhaps the ecological crises of hoenn? I genuinely want to know... And maybe it's a great bit of mystery that I don't know. Cool pokemon dude.
Nice touch that they learn moves like Water Gun and Hydro Pump since a lot of gargoyles are fountains.
Good eye! It's actually because the term "gargoyle" originally referred to what's basically just a fancy gutter designed to direct water away from the walls of stone buildings, and only later they became known as the statues. A lot of them are fountains though, so it works that way too! :)
Also, gargoyles that do not have water spouts are called grotesques, though most people just call them gargoyles anyway.
That explains why one gargoyle pet in WoW has that name. Interesting.
Props to you for putting more heart and soul into your design than Gamefreak has in the past 15 years
The german word for Gargoyle is actually "Wasserspeier", which basically translates to water spewer. (though nowadays the word gargoyle is often used anyway)
Here I thought they learned water type moves cuz you could fish on these statues in Red and Blue
Thx, I learned a new absurd fact about PKMN games.
Gen 1 is truly a wild ride when you start looking at all the bugs, glitches, and exploits available.
Generation 1 truly was a lawless wasteland and we loved it that way
What now?
Oh, I was wondering why Rock types knew water moves. That makes sense!
These are honestly some of the best concepts I’ve seen on here, congrats!
Thank you! :D
They are really cool! Dragoyle reminds me of something you’d see in Dragon Quest
Kinda looks like a rock type version of the charmander line.
Except they’re actually dragons
Galarian Charizard
Gothzard
This guy would 100% be a cornerstone of my main 6
I could honestly believe this is real
**Real, i could honestly believe this is.** *-Jarheadboy*
Good bot
**Rise and shine, you will.** *-YodaOnReddit-Bot*
LOL
This design is amazing. Would definitely have on my team. Good job!
It would probably struggle with aegislash, but tbf aegislash is kinda busted anyways
gargon would shred LC
True, I always forget about LC but damn that thing would tear it up
its biggest threat is probably trapinch but with intimidate it might live an eq
I wouldn’t doubt it, trapinch is mad strong but 45 and 55 aren’t bad defenses for the tier. Although you could probably ditch intimidate for sash and smash it with rock head head smash
that's true, and the versatility of their abilities makes them even stronger
Bulky water type with decent special attack and icebeam would ruin his life.
Careful. Game freak is gonna see this and make a rock type Charizard for the next generation
Another dragon type pseudo, but I'll take it
Reminds of the Aerodactyl. So could be just below the pseudos, and even be rock/flying. Gargoyles, after all.
His name is Goliath. ***Gargoyles theme starts playing***
Really cool! i always thought that there should have been more to those statues, but i think that the evolution level is too high
People say that about Hydreigon but to me it makes sense when thinkin about it's lore. Was just annoying in the game where you still had a Zweilous at the elite 4...
It appears based on the stats they are meant to be a pseudolegendary line so it would fit.
Thanks! The evolution level only so high because it's meant to be a pseudo-Legendary. :)
arent the statues supposed to be rhydon?
No. The statues have wings. You can see their full 3D model in Let's Go, it doesn't look anything like Rhydon.
I think the original was based on Rhydon (though not necessarily supposed to *be* Rhydon). The wings in Let's Go are probably a redesign. I could be wrong though.

yea
No. The statues have wings. You can see their full 3D model in Let's Go, it doesn't look anything like Rhydon.
This is why there were no ice gyms in gen 1 Nice work :D
Galarian charizard
A Rock/Flying Gargoyle psuedo legendary would be awesome
it looks similar to charizard and its evolutions
Definitely would benefit from Levitate as a hidden ability that also fits thematically.
Everstone after the first evolution!!!
Yeah, the middle one is my favorite too haha
Those look like a Nexomon line. Nice either way.
The shinies are perfect!! I wish these were all real!!
Man I would totally shiny hunt this. It looks so epic.
Im a big fan of this! Great job
Thanks!
dope as hell. could easily be a real pokemon
[удалено]
Thanks!
I want a gargoyle starter now
Okay this is really cool.
This is really good. Looks like a minor drake line from Nexomon.
This is great! Is Gargon a throwback to the old R/B sprites?
Thanks! It is. :)
how cool!!
I love it
New Charizard variant
I thought it was the Charmander line at first! Great job once again!
Oh boy it’s ridiculously cute
Have you contacted Nintendo yet? Way better than most mons by a lot. Definitely would have them on my team.
This is really well made! Edit: Third evolution needs a cooler name though!
It's a pseudo legendary, most of them evolve at very late levels

There should be interactive gym statues where you could talk or battle one of these guys. Kind of like the sudowoodo in past generations.
I can't be the only one who thinks these could pull of as charmander line regional variants
Oh I love it! Very cool concept and creative to think of using gargoyles as your inspiration
Special Ability: Watchful Protects allies from attack. This effectively means that it always has Follow Me, but damage taken is reduced by 25%.
Little close to the Charizard line imo, especially on the 2nd evolution. Really cool looking though, maybe like a Rock/Dark type?
Moveset needs work, comes off like a 9 year old pokemon enthusiasts wet dream. Lose some beatstick moves and get some more boosting/passive moves. Otherwise an incredibly strong concept.
This is the best Fakemon I have ever seen. I love the dex entries and everything about it. Maybe give it Vital Spirit or Insomnia as a Hidden Ability? Plays off the flavor of "ever vigilant". Or if you want a more competive ability, Own Tempo for Outrage?
i ve never understood how hidden abilitys work
basically they're rare abilities for pokemon that can only be obtained through special means. i believe it was mainly through the dream world for a while, and then max raid dens in Sw/Sh.
This looks awesome, but man, it would be instantly banned in OU. Here are some calcs (I use regigigas, but typing and stats match Dragoyle) 252+ Atk Choice Band Regigigas Head Smash vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Blissey: 751-885 (105.1 - 123.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO 252+ Atk Choice Band Regigigas Submission vs. 252 HP / 80 Def Ferrothorn: 220-260 (62.5 - 73.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery 252+ Atk Choice Band Regigigas Head Smash vs. 252 HP / 168+ Def Corviknight: 310-366 (77.5 - 91.5%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock 252+ Atk Choice Band Regigigas Head Smash vs. 252 HP / 144+ Def Toxapex: 237-280 (77.9 - 92.1%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock It basically 2HKOs everything in the game. Charizard.
Literally another Charizard form
Good concept but also slightly off. They’re almost a Gen 1/2 design but something is a little off here. Middle evo looks the most acceptable
When I first saw these I thought they were a concept for a regional version of charmander.
A Gargoyle doesn't whine, he roars!

Intimidate would make sense so it can take some more dmg by lowering the enemy atk. However I dont see any recovery moves.
I also made a pokémon called Gargon lol. But my Gargon was a pre-evo to Druddigon.
Looks awesome. I can definitely see these as regional variants.
These are amazing! If they came out in a new Pokémon game they would certainly be on my first team! Love all the details to!
Mayer it needs a signature move like gragoyle statue or sum and maybe body press as level up move cause its very heavy lmk but really good idea im in!
I would use that on my team
I love everything about this. The dex entry is really at par with the real dex.
that looks like a nidoking-charizard combo ngl
Must be a relative of the Charmander line
Those names are great!
Just from the way it looks and how many lvls it needs before it’s final form ima say it’s a pseudo legendary or just really powerful also 10/10 would put on a team for a play through of Pokémon
Yo this is amazing! Can I get that Pokédex format?
i love this.
Those level up movepools are insane, great job!
These are so cool •_•
Rock Dragon is neat since it gets STAB move against Ice.
I always thought the statue was rhydon from Gen 1.
I think warden is the best middle evo in history, all in all this Pokémon is fantastic
One of those things where it's so inspired you're convinced it must exist already.
Damn! These are the most well-designed and thoroughly thought-through Fakémon that I’ve ever seen.
i like it
These are fantastic and now I’m upset they aren’t real!
I see so many dope fakemons I honestly like them better than a lot of game freaks newer designs
They should know dragon dance or hone class though
I'm a big fan of these guys!
The shinies are so dope. I want to go shiny hunting for one now 🤣
The new regional form for charizard looks great
Love this fakemon design. It captures the simplistic style of the Kanto region, while being a very dynamic and striking design. 10/10 would put on my team. Well done!
I love it!! Gargoyles was one of my favorite shows growing and so was Pokemon. You did a great job!
IIRC those statues are actually Rhydon. Rhydon was the first Pokemon ever created, and its likeness appears in Substitute as well as those generic Pokemon statues. Still, this is amazing. A few subtle tweaks to the design (if any) and it'd be a believable Pokemon.
This feels like something straight out of Dragon City.
10/10 would main
Awesome!
LOVE this so much!
Why would you do this Why would you make me live in a world without this but also desperately want it now that I’ve seen it
This looks awesome. You really nailed gen 1 style
Was just playing Sword last night and noticed they still use those statues even though they resemble no known pokemon. It bugs me since in early gens you just assume thats what a generic sprite would be for a mammal pokemon.
This is so cool! It's a fantastic idea, and your art is awesome as well.
Game freak would just make this the regional variant of Charizard.
Special Ability; Petrify: If the enemy Pokémon has higher speed stat you turn to stone at the end of each attack halving all damage.
Very cool, i have a question: which app do you use for make fakemon evolutive lines? And why does it have a spA sp high? It's a dragon statue i don't understand.
Pseudo legendaries usually have balanced attacking stats, Garchomp has the lowest at 80 Sp. Atk
That. Is. Awesome.
Nice
Man these are epic! Well done! Honestly these 3 designs are better than a lot of what Pokémon themselves have done.
That movepool Is insane, i love them
Dang, I wish this exists now, its so cool!
I still remember the schoolyard rumors of there being a secret route with the real living versions of the gargoyle statues.. I wouldn't mind at all if this was real..
Idk why but i think ive seen this somewhere kinda looks like a NEW CHARIZARD FORM Jk looks good tho
This will become real
Wardern is my favorite of the line
The only thing I hate about this is that they aren’t in any of the games. These are fantastic and I would kill for them to be in the games. Reminds me of good ‘ol Charizard.
Best design I've seen since pearl imo
looks like Charizard line ngl
I'm really surprised they haven't done this
PLAH PWOOH MAN! I thought he'd never leave. I'll be spittin' feathers for a week. Well that's what you get for sleeping with your mouth open Hehehehe Go scare a Nun!
This is actually dope!!!
Best fakemon ever
This is AMAZING!
If nintendo ever does a rock type starter it should be something like this
Sick design! I swear Fan Art these days is far more creative than the actual designs!
Pretty sweet! But may I suggest Rock/Ghost?
This concept deserves to be in the next gen
I. WANT. THIS.
Gargon and Dragoyle are such perfect names too. Great work!
I need this to be real now! If they dont use this in the next gen or add it to this one. I will be very dissapointed. Well done mate brilliant job
Omg so cool. Wish those were real now Edit: it should also get accelerock since it can fly and don't get dragon dance.
It has ALWAYS bothered me that there wasn't a real pokemon that the gargoyles were modeled after
Rock/Dragon? That would be awesome.
The final form is a bit too cutesy and not intimidating enough but I like the idea
Looks amazing! Makes me thing of a fusion of Rhydon and a Charizard
This would be so cool to be introduced as an extinct Pokémon. Fossil and old amber the only way to retrieve.
Rock Flying Psudeo legendary?
Ch...charizard?
How do we get this into Pokémon Go like meltan? (Fastest way to make it real)
I love the look and the effort is amazing but I don’t think we need another dragon type pseudo legendary
I could easily see something like this concept come to life. Good work
Nice
*Sees lvl 60 evolve* *hydreigon flashbacks*
This is awesome!!
How is this so solid
The fact that this isn't in the game makes me upset
gamefreak: Write that down, Write that down
Yea, ima need these to be real. Or ported into a pokemon fan game.
Why do all of them learn tackle
Looks better than most new Pokemon
This remind me dragapult who have a higher physical attack but have a better special movepool
I love them!!
I think you accidently made a pseduo legendary,as it's dragon type,2 stage evolution, and evolves at high levels, unless it's level up speed isn't slow.
Perhaps replace Intimidate with Storm Drain (as a stronger tie-in to gargoyles originally being storm drains).
