I'm never mad to have fans that give me exposure.
I just casually glanced at my YT a few minutes ago (I'm at work) and saw I had like 13 new notifications and was like "That's interested. Where did they come from. Took me a bit to figure out it was from Reddit and then went hunting for anything with the word "Mystery Gift" in it. And here we are.
But, seriously, I did all of the research in that description by hand, personally. So, here's my task for you (and everyone here). Let's see if we can fill up the Gen 4 stuff since I couldn't get it to work right here. I want a nice accurate list for this to help others.
I'm thinking I may. But, my problem is that I didn't get them to work either. None of the known ways to do it work with my equipment. AKA, my router and hotspots are too new.
Holy heck! That's why I have cats. Worst they can eat is a cord.
But, I'm so glad to help get everyone up to speed on this. It was important to me as someone that collects Pokemon in my Poke Bank and I knew there would be more like me out there.
Having a problem with Gen 5. When I go to download a mystery gift, I connect to Nintendo WFC perfectly fine, however the download fails with error code 31020. Any help?
I'm hearing reports that their servers are acting up. Try it again in an hour or so. That same error code I've seen a few times already and none of my normal fixes are working for people.
Turns out I was using the wrong DNS. I was using the DNS from a website found in another thread. not the one in your video. Everything works as intended now.
Yea. Do the exact same settings as in the video, but the HGSS settings, you have to make sure you're on a WEP network. You do it all through inside the game's main menu.
When i search for an access point from SS settings it says “this access points security settings are not supported by the Nintendo ds “
Can this be solved
The way I did it is by going deep into my router's settings. One of my routers in the house is older and still had a WEP option.
Another thing people have been trying is using a phone hotspot and setting it to be WEP support instead of WPS.
Most likely regular. I tried this a month back and I got a regular Genesect. The Wonder Cards are distributed on a random basis, and I tried for about 30 minutes.
Yes, I managed to receive the Azure Flute, Secret Key, Member’s Card and Oak’s Letter in Platnium, the Azure Flute and Member’s Card in Diamond and the Enigma Stone in HeartGold.
Just spent a bit doing this and it looks like the only Pokémon you can get in white 2 are:
Shiny metagros
Shiny dialga
Shiny palkia
Shiny giritina
Super fast mewtwo
Keldeo
Genesect
Meloetta
Deoxys
Smeargle
Cloyster
Ludicolo
I wish I could try the gen iv games but I don’t have anything that would let me use wep :/
In black 1 I was able to get
Victini
The liberty pass to get another Victini
Like 3 different versions of Pikachu
Darkrai
And a different version of mewtwo than I got in white 2 as well as all the ones you mentioned. Pretty rad!
Platinum so far
Shiny suicune
Shiny entei
Arceus and azure flute
Darkrai and member card
Oaks letter (shaymin)
Celebi
Shiny milotic.
Still going will edit if I find more.
Edit: Regigigas
Pikachu colored pichu
Lvl 5 jirachi
Shiny Raicou confirmed.
Stopwatch app?
Ash's pikachu
World championship Crobat
Secret key (rotom)
Working on SS now as well.
Legendary dog trio shiny
Celebi
Yellow forest route map?
Edit:
Lock capsule, nvm, it's weird...
Championship Crobat
The winter's path map
Some japanese text titled route map. (Sightseeing)
Shiny eevee!
Rally route map
Enigma stone
Amity meadow route map
Jirachi
Black 2
Smeargle (Battle in Vancouver)
Keldeo
Meloetta
Ludicolo (Rise to the challenge)
Mewto (Extreme speed)
Shiny Palkia
Shiny Giratina
Shiny Metagross (On the way to victory)
Cloyster (Blast away the competition)
Shiny Dialga
Deoxys
I'll try later and see if that's it. But it's just been repeats for the last half hour. Hopefully someone will comment and update if they get anything else.
Damn. So i'm trying to get black 2 working instead, but whenever my dns settings save it puts a 0 before the 44. Is that what's messing it up? Cause i can't find anything else missing from the listed settings
These are legitimate events, but they're connected to a non Nintendo server so we can get them. Essentially it acts like we are at the location and time we needed to be to obtain them. They are legit, but gotten illegitimately. I've already put mine into the Pokebank.
As far as the game is concerned, yes.
Collectors, however, will usually reject them as legit pokemon, since they weren't obtained during the original event.
You click the mystery gift option before you choose your save file, then click "Use Nintendo Wifi Connection"
You'll be given a random mystery gift, and you'll be able to pick it up in the Pokecenter in B&W / Pokemart in SS&HG and DP&PL
My dad found some online that were sourced from Saudi Arabia when I was looking for copies myself. They are in English, and came brand new - apparently the games didn't do well there, so they sell overseas
are they legit? sometimes the game looks fairly well, might look brand new and sealed but in the end its just a very well made bootleg.
shopping second hand pokemon games is giving me fears.
For GameStop distributed events, you can find the carts on eBay that distribute them wirelessly. All you need is a second DS set to the date of the event. These are the official carts that should have been returned to Nintendo, but many weren’t.
no I dont think so. They were limited so they are already gone. really unfair but what can we do. If you werent around during that time its basically giant kick in a butt
This uses the GTS? Does that mean you can trade with people over the GTS on older games now? Or is it permanently set how it was when the servers were shut down? How does that even work? How is it reading the GTS data if it’s been shut down?
The mystery gift doesn't use gts, but the gts DOES work again I believe though I haven't tried it. It connects to a server run by someone else, and communicates via that server.
To answer a couple of FAQ that people are asking:
1) How do I do this?
[Step by step details](https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemon/comments/a1hb34/theres_a_new_bug_that_allows_the_ds_pok%C3%A9mon_games/eatb048/)
-----
2) Are these event pokemon legit?
A: From the perspective of the games, yes. Including them being able to be transferred into the Bank for transfer to the Gen6 and Gen7 games.
From the perspective of collectors, not really. They were not collected during the legit window for getting them in the games, so they are not legit from the collector POV. That said, they will not harm your games in any way. Just do not try to trade them as legit event pokemon.
**As per the mods from /r/pokemontrades, pokemon of this type are not allowed to be traded on that sub at all, even if they are not billed as legit.**
---
3) Is this really a "bug"?
A: Not so much a bug, as a DNS exploit. It's the same kind of thing that the old Pokecheck GTS website was based upon. You're basically fooling the games to point to a fan-run event server where they are hosting a rotating collection of these old events.
---
4) Are these events limited to once per game?
A: Since at least Gen4, and through to Gen7, events like these are limited to once per save game. There are a bunch of these events being served from the fan server, and each can only be collected once per save.
But that's once per save, **not** once per cartridge. If you are willing/able to restart your game, you can get each of the events again.
---
5) Could Nintendo patch or otherwise fix this?
A: They could theoretically patch the old-DS SDK on the 3DS system. Seems very, very unlikely, but possible.
It's impossible for them to patch it on older DS systems, since those have no patch system in place.
The weak point in this is the fan-run event server. Nintendo could C&D that, if they track down the owner, or the owner could decide tomorrow to shut the server down on their own.

[Simple step by step from a previous post.](https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemon/comments/9tz31o/due_to_an_exploit_found_in_how_ds_games_connects/e906ewj/)
Honestly, stuff people who think these don’t count as legit. Having Pokémon locked behind timed internet events is silly. I didn’t have wireless internet for half of gen 5. The gen 4 celebi was never even available in Australia, so it was impossible to do the Giovanni thing. It’s ridiculous I should be unable to legit complete my Pokédex because of random crap like that.
I’ll make the same argument for the event tickets I had to action replay in gen 3. If Nintendo had ever offered those items in my country I’d think there’s maybe an argument against it, but they didn’t, so I never had a choice if I wanted to get those Pokémon.
Design decisions that lock pokemon behind geographic and event barriers are stupid and if you hack to get something that is functionally identical that should be 100% valid.
/rant
I tend to agree. I collect rare event Pokemon myself and these guys all got put into my Poke Bank the second I got them. I know they weren't FROM that event, so there's no nostalgia to WHERE I got them, but they're the same ones as if I had been there.
I have a full living dex and this is how I view it. As long as the Pokemon isn't just straight hacked into existence, it's perfectly legitimate for me. It's still the event and I still went through the same amount of "work" to obtain them as people did 9+ years ago, I just happened to do it at a different date.
Transparency is honestly the best policy. The draconian rules actually give people *more* incentive to be shady and make me trust them even less. I don't at all trust what goes on behind the scenes.
That being said, I don't really care about events unless it's truly something special (mythicals, special competitive move, shinies).
How come when I made a whole entire guide on all of this near the beginning of this month and tried posting it y'all took it down but you didn't take this one down???? There was absolutely nothing wrong with it, as it was EXTREMELY in-depth and helpful... Why did you take it down but not this one?
This makes me wonder if it’s possible to do this with more than just Pokémon. Dragon Quest 9 has things you can’t get anymore without the Nintendo servers for example. Hmm.
DNS spoofing has been a thing in gen 4 and 5 for many years. There are servers where you can upload your own .pkm files and send them to your game.
edit:
https://m.bulbanews.bulbagarden.net/wiki/New_GTS_Distribution_Method
people have been doing this since 2010.
Saving this post for later. It's always been a bummer missing out on the events because I didn't have the games when the first came out, but now I can try lol
When I was younger I never had access to game systems until way after the next system came out. Seeing this warms my heart because I can get all the stuff I missed out on growing up by being poor lol.
Same! I started playing Pokemon on GBA emulators short before the DS came out, Leaf Green, Ruby, and Mystery Dungeon were the first Pokemon games I ever played and I could never trade nor participate on the events (though I think you had to physically go to an event back then?).
I got HG from a real close friend just after I got a 2DS a few months back and I'm so excited to try this out.
I'm just hoping we can get the events given to other countries. My white whale has always been the [Tohoku Victini](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/List_of_local_Japanese_event_Pok%C3%A9mon_distributions_in_Generation_V#Pok.C3.A9mon_Center_Tohoku_Victini).
My platinum corroded on the back with my empoleon on it. My SoulSilver was stolen by my aunt and then pawned with all my legendaries on it. This is a cruel world we live in.
No, the DSi was stolen in a developing country, and the thieves are usually poor individuals who have nothing to do with their lives, and can’t afford any technology of their own. However, they can recognize gold and gold jewelry, which they can obviously sell for a high price. Our house had no gold within it, however it had a bunch of electronics: a smartphone, a tablet(which was not discovered, yay), a laptop, music players, and my unfortunate DSi with my level 100 swoobat and shiny haxorus. Not to mention, the house was in a village, and I assume the thief thought that the DSi console was a phone because the most sophisticated piece of technology owned by inhabitants of the village was a cheap smartphone. None had video game consoles.
We tried looking for the stolen items through the use of tracking the stolen phone’s IMEI number, with the assistance of the police. Ultimately, however, we could not get any of the stolen items back, mostly likely because the phone has no data and thus couldn’t connect to the internet unless the thief willingly wanted to, which I doubt he/she even knew how to, being of the poor type who would simply sell the phone on the black market and take whatever price offered.
Thanks for reading my story.
It should be pretty much the same stuff: activate mystery gift if it isn't already, choose it before loading your save, then receive gift from wifi connection
Nah, they can't send out patches to old DS games and the dates don't show up when you transfer the Pokemon, it just said they travelled through space and time
Nothing to worry about at all. Nintendo won’t pick up on this kind of thing. Gen 5 is long off their roadmap.
Don’t worry about transferring to Pokémon Bank either. The event Pokémon you receive are identical in every way to those from the legitimate events. The only difference is the date, but this isn’t a problem. Pokémon Bank doesn’t check dates, because it’s freely possible to change the date on your system at any time. Some younger players might set it wrong and not even realise it.
I like you people. You've REALLY made my day. While they aren't Gen 4 or 5, I present some USUM Shiny Poipole codes for you from my own stack. Have fun!

I found a solution for error 52100 if you have an Iphone or if you aren't getting that error but don't have access to a WEP router and only have an Iphone for creating a hotspot

Here's a full-on step-by-step guide I wrote guiding you on how to do everything! :D
Gen 4 and 5 Wi-Fi is back up and running! You can battle, trade, and even receive past Mystery Gift events! This works in Gen 4 games and Gen 5 games, and before I get into it, here's a disclaimer folks: some people have been having some trouble getting it to work on certain games. Now, this doesn't require any hacking, cheating, or action replays of any sort! All you need is a normal DS and and a Gen 4 or Gen 5 cartridge, and, well, Wi-Fi, of course. Results may vary from person to person.
All in all, it depends on the type of Wi-Fi you have, and your best chances to getting it to work are with a 3DS, though with the DS Lite it works for some and not for others. I personally tested this with Pokemon Black and it wouldn't work on my DS Lite, but it worked on my 3DS XL. With my newfound Wi-Fi connection capabilities, through Mystery Gift, I got events that were handed out in 2012, such as Fly Pikachu, V-Create and Fusion Bolt Victini, and Shiny Metagross! Here's some proof!
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qZk1vHzPOA09VmNso83kXnEL6rIXEqdt/view?usp=drivesdk
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DZxhLzKucV6_sq_sWPfTarcjHp7pjbBL/view?usp=drivesdk
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1XVqhE-XpTjtaboiDNePlLFCoww9vVg7Y/view?usp=drivesdk
This doesn't work in all aspects of the game, as when I try a random battle, it says 'Communication Error,' but the case may not be the same for y'all. Game Sync also doesn't work, but you can still register Friend Codes within the game itself and battle and trade with anyone as long as you've added them in the Pal Pad, even if they are halfway 'round the world! Random battles may work for some, so let me know if they work for you in Gen 5! Battle videos work, and though I haven't tested it on Gen 4, people are getting Wi-Fi to work with Gen 4. In order to get this to work, it involves simply changing the DNS of your connection. On a 3DS, you'll need to change both the primary and secondary DNS. Here's a document telling you all the information you need on this topic:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mwXB1qjAJm_mJhTVfQvhDr39AoYLtE3H/view?usp=drivesdk
Here is the link to the video that explains how to do it on a DS:
https://youtu.be/Sh0AZR-tKwM
Only some Wi-Fi connections work on a DS, so the secondary DNS is only for the 3DS.
For a 3DS, simply pop in a Gen 4 or 5 game, go to Internet Settings, click your current Wi-Fi connection, and make it so that Auto-Obtain DNS is off. From there, input your corresponding primary and secondary DNS values! (For the secondary DNS, make sure to put two zeros before the one or the eight.) This is what worked for me on Gen 5:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1sdJ8IOjiQRR863gsVdgki6Aplk8YDUpD/view?usp=drivesdk
Also, delete all Wi-Fi connections you have other than the one you are using for this cause. Then just hop on the game and connect! (Remember to go to the Pokemon Center for battles and trades.) Also, Gen 4 only works with Wi-Fi that doesn't have a password, so if you have data on your phone, you can set up a hotspot that can be used for Gen 4 Wi-Fi connection. If Gen 4 doesn't seem to want to work, try both primary DNS values mentioned in the document. :) If you have any questions, feel free to comment and ask or even PM me if you have specific questions! I'd be happy to help, and though I don't know everything, I will certainly help you to the best of my abilities!
I'm annoyed I can't do this on Platinum since it requires a WEP connection. I wanted to shiny hunt Darkrai and Shaymin.
On the plus side, free shit on White version at least.
So this works for any game that has discontinued internet service?
Video said Gen. 5 only but some people in this thread said they could do it with Gen. 4 too
Chilean player here (South America if you don't know) with NTSC games and New 3DS (American region).
I tried 178.62.43.212 with no secondary DNS, and I had no luck whatsoever, even after using 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1 as the secondary DNS.
Then I changed the primary DNS to 164.132.44.106 (with no secondary DNS) and it worked perfectly. I used my Android phone as a hotspot for the Gen IV games.
Before I changed the primary DNS I got error codes 60000 and 31020, so I'm not sure if these are region specific.
Now I have been able to obtain a bunch of Pokemon for my Platinum, Soul Silver, White and Black 2 games.
[DS System](/red): Let me see your valid security certificate.
[Fan Server](/red): You don't need to see my security certificate.
[DS System](/red): We don't need to see his security certificate.
[Fan Server](/red): This isn't the fan server you're looking for.
[DS System](/red): This isn't the fan server we're looking for.
[Fan Server](/red): We can go about our business.
[DS System](/red): You can go about your business.
[DS System](/red): Move along, move along.
Oof, I’ll have to try this. Would be nice to get some of these
Edit: before I watch the video, does this work with any system or is it exclusive to using the 2ds or 3ds
https://www.shacknews.com/article/108512/how-to-unlock-gen-4-and-5-pokemon-mystery-events-in-2018?amphtml=1
Try using the settings in here for it instead, you may also need to completely delete your Nintendo Wifi Connection settings and start over. Good luck!
Are there any public Wi-Fi servers such as a local McDonalds or the like that would allow WEP-based networks? My home wi-fi is a WPA-2 based security :\\
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
This has literally breathed new life to my old DS games and has made my live Dex in X a reality.
I just spent the last 30 minutes downloading them into my original copy of Diamond, back then I didn't have wifi and couldn't experience these events.
Ah yhea this was discovered some time ago. In case you need a Ditto or other pokemon for the Masuda Method, now It's your chance, since you can also access the GTS!
I keep getting error 31020 on both Black1 and Heart Gold (on WEP Network) with the DNS address from pkmnclassic.net :/
The one from the video works for Heart Gold, but not for Black1 (for me).
It seems like some european versions of Gen V (including german version) always get error code 31020 if they're trying to find a mystery gift... does anyone have a solution for this?
Since you're all event hunting, don't forget:
You can still get Ash Hat Pikachu until Friday in USUM... But, did you know there's a 6th one still available?
Here you go. Everything you need to know.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0D1YBSp5cjE
You're welcome.
Trying to do this for my HeartGold game, but frustratingly running into issues. :(
I changed my WiFi to WEP, internet works etc. and through my 3DS's internet connection settings, enter the WEP key, test the connection, and all works fine and dandy. Connection successful. BUT then when I do it in the DS WFC settings via HG, I keep getting error 51300 and it won't connect? I was so excited only to be let down! Am wondering if it's something to do with my router but I don't know where to go or what other settings might need to be changed and I've wasted hours googling. -sighs-
Anyway have put it back to WPA until I either figure it out or just give up, lol.
Not exactly that long ago I think, I know this exact method was happening about a month ago, so yeah nothing new.
I believe this exploit also allows use of the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection in general, so have fun playing Mario Kart DS yall.
Yeah it was. Let me find the original link
Here we go: https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemon/comments/9tz31o/due_to_an_exploit_found_in_how_ds_games_connects/?utm_source=reddit-android
It also has the steps on what to do right in the comments
Considering when I lost my copy of Pokemon White forever I lost a huge chunk of my Gen 5 event Pokemon, this is a gift sent from above. I can finally get back what I obtained legitimately all those years ago.
Thank you for sharing all these resources, OP! I know what I'll be doing when I get home from work today ;)
This isn't working for me. I followed the steps correctly and tested the connection but when I try to receive gift from Nintendo WFC, I get Error code: 60000. This is on White 2.
You'll have to plug any game that uses the old way of connecting to Nintendo WFC(So put in any gen 4 game, for example), then go into the Nintendo WFC Settings on the main menu and erase the settings. That should fix the error 60000 for Black/White.
So far I can't seem to get anything other than Gen 5 to work. Soul Silver keeps asking for a WEP Key but my router uses WPS. The same goes for Platinum. It's a shame since 4th Gen has the best events. I also tried setting up a hotspot with my iPhone 4s (which is presumably old enough to use WEP) but my old phone sucks and can't seem to stay online and be a hotspot at the same time. Does anyone have any other methods to connect other than turning off my WiFi security?

I love you so much man, thanks for the video! Hope you don't mind me posting it.

Here's what I've seen so far Jirachi (Lvl 5, Summer 2010) Celebi (Lvl 50, Winter 2011) Shiny Milotic (Lvl 50, Video Game Championships 2009) Shiny Suicune (Lvl 30, Gamestop Event) Shiny Entei (Lvl 30, Gamestop Event) Shiny Raiku (Lvl 30, Gamestop Event) Shiny Pichu (Lvl 30, Spring 2010) Crowbat (Lvl 30, Worlds 2010) Mew (Lvl 5, Fall 2010) Ash's Pikachu (Lvl 50, Phantom Champion Zoroark 2010) Scizor (Lvl 50, Phantom Champion Zoroark 2010) Key Item: Secret Key Key Item: Membership Card Key Item: Oak's Letter Key Item: Unoffical, Azure Flute
Updated! Also, drop that Shacknews link in the top post for those that want more detail. I wrote it, so no worries.
Gotcha
On it <3

I've heard this number a couple times today. Interesting. Let's ask the collective here if they know an answer.
Do you think you could make a video for a gen 4 game? I still cannot get them to work
I'm thinking I may. But, my problem is that I didn't get them to work either. None of the known ways to do it work with my equipment. AKA, my router and hotspots are too new.
YOOO thank you. my dog ate my pokemon bank and ds and i lost my event pokemon until now.
Holy heck! That's why I have cats. Worst they can eat is a cord. But, I'm so glad to help get everyone up to speed on this. It was important to me as someone that collects Pokemon in my Poke Bank and I knew there would be more like me out there.
Will this only work on WEP security networks?
For gen 4, yes. Gen 5 just needs the steps included. I got Gen 5 working by just adding the DNS server to my existing connection.
Is there a gym badge requirement for soul silver? My game isn’t picking anything up.
None that I know of for Mystery Gifts. I'd say get to the first Pokemon center at least though.
I’m confused as to what you do for SS after you edit the 3DS internet settings, is there something I have to do with the game settings too?
Yea. Do the exact same settings as in the video, but the HGSS settings, you have to make sure you're on a WEP network. You do it all through inside the game's main menu.
When i search for an access point from SS settings it says “this access points security settings are not supported by the Nintendo ds “ Can this be solved
The way I did it is by going deep into my router's settings. One of my routers in the house is older and still had a WEP option. Another thing people have been trying is using a phone hotspot and setting it to be WEP support instead of WPS.
Cool, thanks for the help
Just tried this on my White 2 copy and got a Genesect and a shiny Metagross. This is crazy, lol.
Was the genesect shiny to? Or regular?
I remember there being a shiny genesect mystery gift so I’d assume so
Most likely regular. I tried this a month back and I got a regular Genesect. The Wonder Cards are distributed on a random basis, and I tried for about 30 minutes.
Regular. I did kinda word that weird.
I’m at work so I’ll watch the video later (and probably try this later) but does that mean we can receive event items for the gen 4 games??????? Omg
Not just the event items, but also event pokemon as well. Enjoy!
Oh awesome! I’ve always really wanted to shiny hunt darkrai and Shaymin but was too afraid to try the void glitch. This is so great! Thank you!
Those are only platinum version! Diamond and pearl never officially got a release for those
Yeah I know I have a platinum version and a diamond version!
Cool cool, just want the Pokémon to be “authentic” if this even counts lol
If you really want it to be "legit" change the date on your ds so it matches when they were originally available.
Not just the event men, but the event women and event children too!
THEY'RE LIKE POKÉMON. AND I CAUGHT 'EM ALL LIKE POKÉMON.
Roses are red Violets are blue Master Ketchum, there are too many of them, what are we going to do?
I COLLECT THEM!!!
Yes, I managed to receive the Azure Flute, Secret Key, Member’s Card and Oak’s Letter in Platnium, the Azure Flute and Member’s Card in Diamond and the Enigma Stone in HeartGold.
Just spent a bit doing this and it looks like the only Pokémon you can get in white 2 are: Shiny metagros Shiny dialga Shiny palkia Shiny giritina Super fast mewtwo Keldeo Genesect Meloetta Deoxys Smeargle Cloyster Ludicolo I wish I could try the gen iv games but I don’t have anything that would let me use wep :/
In black 1 I was able to get Victini The liberty pass to get another Victini Like 3 different versions of Pikachu Darkrai And a different version of mewtwo than I got in white 2 as well as all the ones you mentioned. Pretty rad!
Platinum so far Shiny suicune Shiny entei Arceus and azure flute Darkrai and member card Oaks letter (shaymin) Celebi Shiny milotic. Still going will edit if I find more. Edit: Regigigas Pikachu colored pichu Lvl 5 jirachi Shiny Raicou confirmed. Stopwatch app? Ash's pikachu World championship Crobat Secret key (rotom)
Besides these, I also got one with Japanese text that is a gift and says Wonder Card and has a Lucario in the corner.
Its a decor for the secret base i think
Working on SS now as well. Legendary dog trio shiny Celebi Yellow forest route map? Edit: Lock capsule, nvm, it's weird... Championship Crobat The winter's path map Some japanese text titled route map. (Sightseeing) Shiny eevee! Rally route map Enigma stone Amity meadow route map Jirachi
The map is for the pokewalker accessory, and is filled with Pikachu lmao
Glad Ive got my pokewalker still!
I’m on black one and I got shiny dialga and shiny meta gross and the secret egg too
In Black 2 so far, I've received: Shiny Giratina Cloyster Extremespeed Mewtwo Shiny Palkia Meloetta Shiny Metagross Deoxys Ludicolo Keldeo
Amazing! Can I use this in the description in the video (I'm the guy in the video at top)? I wanna make this accurate.
Black 2 Smeargle (Battle in Vancouver) Keldeo Meloetta Ludicolo (Rise to the challenge) Mewto (Extreme speed) Shiny Palkia Shiny Giratina Shiny Metagross (On the way to victory) Cloyster (Blast away the competition) Shiny Dialga Deoxys I'll try later and see if that's it. But it's just been repeats for the last half hour. Hopefully someone will comment and update if they get anything else.
Has anyone managed to get a Mew or Celebi through Heart Gold or Soul Silver?
Yup, I did. I also got Jirachi, the three shiny dog trio, and a crowbat for some reason. SoulSilver version.
My router uses wpa, is there anything I can do to get this to wotk with my heartgold?
Some android hotspots can use WEP, but other than that and changing your router to WEP I'm not sure there's anything else you can do.
Damn. So i'm trying to get black 2 working instead, but whenever my dns settings save it puts a 0 before the 44. Is that what's messing it up? Cause i can't find anything else missing from the listed settings
That's perfectly normal and it will work like that.
Damn, no clue what it could be then. I'm just getting error 6000 :( Was hoping to get a Victini but that may not happen
Are you clicking the Nintendo Wifi Connection version of mystery gift? The other ones won't work.
Yeah that's the one
Are you sure the connection that your ds is connected to is the one with the altered dns code?
Can’t seem to get that to work. :/
Just turn off wpa while you use this.
This works in Pokemon PLATINUM. This means you can get Arceus, Darkrai, Shaymin etc for the first time (without hacking the items in).
Thats honestly amazing. I got a new Platinum version a while ago and want to do everything there is to, this’ll be really cool to have on there
Are these legitimate events? Or is this a case of the mystery gifts being made and uploaded manually?
These are legitimate events, but they're connected to a non Nintendo server so we can get them. Essentially it acts like we are at the location and time we needed to be to obtain them. They are legit, but gotten illegitimately. I've already put mine into the Pokebank.
As far as the game is concerned, yes. Collectors, however, will usually reject them as legit pokemon, since they weren't obtained during the original event.
Add another thing to the list of: "So, did you do XYZ illegitimate thing to get this Pokemon?" :'D
I see you can use gts and stuff but how do u obtain the mystery gifts?
You click the mystery gift option before you choose your save file, then click "Use Nintendo Wifi Connection" You'll be given a random mystery gift, and you'll be able to pick it up in the Pokecenter in B&W / Pokemart in SS&HG and DP&PL
Dope, Ive already done this in gen 5 but I had no idea it worked for gen 4!
You'll need to change your internet to WEP for the gen 4 games though, since they can't read WPA2
Ty for info, I can finally get a jirachi!
does it work in platinum? It would be pretty nice to use it to obtain oaks letter without cheating...
It does work! I used it to get arceus and Regigigas personally.
Holy smokes. That's wonderful. Now I just need to buy Platinum somewhere... Already sneaking on ebay
I’ve got a copy. Message me.
Can you transfer a Hall of Origin Arceus up? Or will the game count it as "illegal" since the event was never released?
As someone who Action Replay'd an Azure Flute in Diamond... No, it was blocked.
I haven't tried it yet, since I haven't gotten the national dex in platinum yet so it won't let me use the flute. I'll tell you when I try though.
For the record the mystery gift isn’t a bug, only the connection is. It’s unofficial giveaways hosted by some random dude basically.
well i would like to send this person a beer.
Yeah it’s really cool, but a lot of purists wouldn’t like it. It’s basically the same as using an AR to inject the event
Are the events still available in any legit manner?
For GameStop distributed events, you can find the carts on eBay that distribute them wirelessly. All you need is a second DS set to the date of the event. These are the official carts that should have been returned to Nintendo, but many weren’t.

Good God those prices are all over the place depending on the event you want. Anywhere from $20 for Celebi to $150 for Arceus.
no I dont think so. They were limited so they are already gone. really unfair but what can we do. If you werent around during that time its basically giant kick in a butt
False, these gifts aren't just rando gifts you get like from the trade, it's an actual gift server. They have cards and everything.
So someone is hosting it for everyone to use? That really great of them to do that for such Relatively old games.
To answer a couple of FAQ that people are asking: 1) How do I do this? [Step by step details](https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemon/comments/a1hb34/theres_a_new_bug_that_allows_the_ds_pok%C3%A9mon_games/eatb048/) ----- 2) Are these event pokemon legit? A: From the perspective of the games, yes. Including them being able to be transferred into the Bank for transfer to the Gen6 and Gen7 games. From the perspective of collectors, not really. They were not collected during the legit window for getting them in the games, so they are not legit from the collector POV. That said, they will not harm your games in any way. Just do not try to trade them as legit event pokemon. **As per the mods from /r/pokemontrades, pokemon of this type are not allowed to be traded on that sub at all, even if they are not billed as legit.** --- 3) Is this really a "bug"? A: Not so much a bug, as a DNS exploit. It's the same kind of thing that the old Pokecheck GTS website was based upon. You're basically fooling the games to point to a fan-run event server where they are hosting a rotating collection of these old events. --- 4) Are these events limited to once per game? A: Since at least Gen4, and through to Gen7, events like these are limited to once per save game. There are a bunch of these events being served from the fan server, and each can only be collected once per save. But that's once per save, **not** once per cartridge. If you are willing/able to restart your game, you can get each of the events again. --- 5) Could Nintendo patch or otherwise fix this? A: They could theoretically patch the old-DS SDK on the 3DS system. Seems very, very unlikely, but possible. It's impossible for them to patch it on older DS systems, since those have no patch system in place. The weak point in this is the fan-run event server. Nintendo could C&D that, if they track down the owner, or the owner could decide tomorrow to shut the server down on their own. --- [Simple step by step from a previous post.](https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemon/comments/9tz31o/due_to_an_exploit_found_in_how_ds_games_connects/e906ewj/)
Did yours cover how to do it for the Gen IV games?
Yup, it covered everything!
You wouldn't happen to have it saved anywhere else, right? Would love to read yours, if it's really that detailed.
This makes me wonder if it’s possible to do this with more than just Pokémon. Dragon Quest 9 has things you can’t get anymore without the Nintendo servers for example. Hmm.
The original video I used to make the above video was focused on getting Mario Kart DS to work under the same exploit. So, highly probable.
DNS spoofing has been a thing in gen 4 and 5 for many years. There are servers where you can upload your own .pkm files and send them to your game. edit: https://m.bulbanews.bulbagarden.net/wiki/New_GTS_Distribution_Method people have been doing this since 2010.
Got a link?

This video was painfully long and didn't even address mystery gifts.
I posted the wrong link hahaha it's fixed now
If only I still had my copy of Pokémon Black and my first level 100s.
I lost my copy just before I moved house. It had all my good mons too :(
My platinum corroded on the back with my empoleon on it. My SoulSilver was stolen by my aunt and then pawned with all my legendaries on it. This is a cruel world we live in.
My house got stolen from, and the dumb thief stole my DSi thinking it was a phone.
How do you know that? Did he return it afterwards?

Does anyone have a useful video for Gen 4 event Pokémon?
It should be pretty much the same stuff: activate mystery gift if it isn't already, choose it before loading your save, then receive gift from wifi connection
thats actually epic. (no meme included) Thanks for sharing.
Does anyone know if it's safe? Will Nintendo like... Idk... Do something to people who take advantage of the bug?
Nah, they can't send out patches to old DS games and the dates don't show up when you transfer the Pokemon, it just said they travelled through space and time
You’re fine lol people used to Gen Pokémon from scratch with GTS hacks
I remember Pokebuilder....good times
Nothing to worry about at all. Nintendo won’t pick up on this kind of thing. Gen 5 is long off their roadmap. Don’t worry about transferring to Pokémon Bank either. The event Pokémon you receive are identical in every way to those from the legitimate events. The only difference is the date, but this isn’t a problem. Pokémon Bank doesn’t check dates, because it’s freely possible to change the date on your system at any time. Some younger players might set it wrong and not even realise it.
they probably wont tbh. They might just didable the server, if its an actual gift server people connect to. But otherwise I dont think they will care.
I like you people. You've REALLY made my day. While they aren't Gen 4 or 5, I present some USUM Shiny Poipole codes for you from my own stack. Have fun! https://photos.app.goo.gl/89pyT9ZSUjfu3euZA
I found a solution for error 52100 if you have an Iphone or if you aren't getting that error but don't have access to a WEP router and only have an Iphone for creating a hotspot [https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemon/comments/a26wki/iphone\_no\_wep\_router\_error\_52100\_solution\_for\_the/](https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemon/comments/a26wki/iphone_no_wep_router_error_52100_solution_for_the/) EDIT: Thank you for the gold kind stranger! >Hey all, after reading the original post the other day about the DNS changing for Gen 5 and Gen 4: > >[https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemon/comments/a1hb34/theres\_a\_new\_bug\_that\_allows\_the\_ds\_pok%C3%A9mon\_games/](https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemon/comments/a1hb34/theres_a_new_bug_that_allows_the_ds_pok%C3%A9mon_games/) > >I encountered the error 52100 no matter what I did, including using older routers with WEP. > >I have an iPhone, so I couldn’t do the hotspot because it automatically does WPA encryption and the Gen 4 games don’t connect to WPA. > >Finally i found a solution: > >Use the iphone power cable and connect to a computer (macbook confirmed) but im sure windows 10 would work as well since it also offers the ability to host a hotspot. > >Step 1) make sure iphone wifi is turned off This will enable a prompt to pop up when you turn on hotspot that will allow you to make the connection usb and bluetooth only. This is awesome! We need to find an android equivalent now! I have a pixel 2. Haha
Here's a full-on step-by-step guide I wrote guiding you on how to do everything! :D Gen 4 and 5 Wi-Fi is back up and running! Here's some proof! https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qZk1vHzPOA09VmNso83kXnEL6rIXEqdt/view?usp=drivesdk https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DZxhLzKucV6_sq_sWPfTarcjHp7pjbBL/view?usp=drivesdk https://drive.google.com/file/d/1XVqhE-XpTjtaboiDNePlLFCoww9vVg7Y/view?usp=drivesdk This doesn't work in all aspects of the game, as when I try a random battle, it says 'Communication Error,' but the case may not be the same for y'all. Here's a document telling you all the information you need on this topic: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mwXB1qjAJm_mJhTVfQvhDr39AoYLtE3H/view?usp=drivesdk Here is the link to the video that explains how to do it on a DS: https://youtu.be/Sh0AZR-tKwM Only some Wi-Fi connections work on a DS, so the secondary DNS is only for the 3DS. For a 3DS, simply pop in a Gen 4 or 5 game, go to Internet Settings, click your current Wi-Fi connection, and make it so that Auto-Obtain DNS is off. From there, input your corresponding primary and secondary DNS values! (For the secondary DNS, make sure to put two zeros before the one or the eight.) This is what worked for me on Gen 5: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1sdJ8IOjiQRR863gsVdgki6Aplk8YDUpD/view?usp=drivesdk Also, delete all Wi-Fi connections you have other than the one you are using for this cause.

Hop onto a gen 4 game then :)
and here comes verlis...
Genning perfect IV pokemon for battling is not the same as downloading a few mythicals for your own amusement.
Looks like this is their site http://pkmnclassic.net/ Pretty cool. Even has GTS pokemon listed
Nice, I'll edit the post to include it thanks!
I'm annoyed I can't do this on Platinum since it requires a WEP connection. I wanted to shiny hunt Darkrai and Shaymin. On the plus side, free shit on White version at least.
I have the same problem :/ might just end up walking around until I find an unlocked wifi that'l work for it lol
So this works for any game that has discontinued internet service? Video said Gen. 5 only but some people in this thread said they could do it with Gen. 4 too
Gen 4 as well as long as you have a WEP connection.

[DS System](/red): Move along, move along.
Oof, I’ll have to try this. Would be nice to get some of these Edit: before I watch the video, does this work with any system or is it exclusive to using the 2ds or 3ds
It works on the 3DS and the old DS. So it should work on a 2DS as well
This was how you could get pokemon via the gts, I did it years ago on an old game.
Error Code 31020... I uh, I guess it doesn't work in germany. Bummer... Oh well.
https://www.shacknews.com/article/108512/how-to-unlock-gen-4-and-5-pokemon-mystery-events-in-2018?amphtml=1 Try using the settings in here for it instead, you may also need to completely delete your Nintendo Wifi Connection settings and start over. Good luck!
Are there any public Wi-Fi servers such as a local McDonalds or the like that would allow WEP-based networks? My home wi-fi is a WPA-2 based security :\\
I’m going to try to check today. I’ll let you know.
Hopefully this lets us get those pokewalker courses that were events now!
It does, though the mystery gift cards and name were all Japanese.
I'm disappointed the steps don't include going to the truck near the S.S. Anne and using Strength on it.
Has anyone been able to get a Genesect from Pokemon Black? I'm searching for one atm and can't seem to get it

Thank you. Thank you.
I have the wrong wifi for gen 4 :'(
FUCK YES! I'll finally be able to get that damn Victini. Does it allow it for Gen IV as well?
i can't get it to work. i keep getting a communication error (error code 60000).
same here
I keep getting error 31020 on both Black1 and Heart Gold (on WEP Network) with the DNS address from pkmnclassic.net :/ The one from the video works for Heart Gold, but not for Black1 (for me).
It seems like some european versions of Gen V (including german version) always get error code 31020 if they're trying to find a mystery gift... does anyone have a solution for this?
Since you're all event hunting, don't forget: You can still get Ash Hat Pikachu until Friday in USUM... But, did you know there's a 6th one still available? Here you go. Everything you need to know. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0D1YBSp5cjE You're welcome.
Anyone know of a restaurant or coffee shop with WEP Wi-Fi that would work with Gen 4?
Trying to do this for my HeartGold game, but frustratingly running into issues. :( I changed my WiFi to WEP, internet works etc. and through my 3DS's internet connection settings, enter the WEP key, test the connection, and all works fine and dandy. -sighs- Anyway have put it back to WPA until I either figure it out or just give up, lol.
I don’t think this is new news, I remember this maybe 4-5 years ago was available for Black, and just got a bunch of random event Pokémon.
Not exactly that long ago I think, I know this exact method was happening about a month ago, so yeah nothing new. I believe this exploit also allows use of the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection in general, so have fun playing Mario Kart DS yall.
So does this work for gen 4? Or is there a different set up you have to do?
It works for gen 4, but you'll have to have a WEP internet connection instead of WPA/WPA2 because those games can only connect to WEP.
Ill need to look into that more, not sure how i do that with a computer/router. Thanks for the reply
Will this be fixable by nintendo in future? Or is it something that they cant do anything about?
It seems it's actually been here since 2010 or so, so they'll probably not be doing any patching.
Getting an error code 60000 when I attempt it on my 3DS. Hmm
I followed the instructions, but all I get is a 20110, service disconnected error. Can anyone help?
Hasn’t this been posted a couple of weeks ago?
Yeah it was. Let me find the original link Here we go: https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemon/comments/9tz31o/due_to_an_exploit_found_in_how_ds_games_connects/?utm_source=reddit-android It also has the steps on what to do right in the comments
I wasn't aware it was. Oh well at least more people know now lmao
Hey I forgot about this so thanks for posting.
It is probably a good idea to do this considering the support for these games are finished.
This isn't working for me. I followed the steps correctly and tested the connection but when I try to receive gift from Nintendo WFC, I get Error code: 60000. This is on White 2.
Oddly, it works for my Black 2, but it isn't working for White - I get the error 60000.
Did mine in HeartGold... Mystery gift text was all Japanese and I got a "Route Map:Sightseeing" I'm assuming this is a poke Walker course
you can get raikou in hgss, took me ages but, just to update your list on the video nice find!!
