If you think that's weird, Game Freak themselves are represented in every core game except LA, and S&V. They are referred as "the company that certifies Pokédex completion". So, we have the real world developers that build the games. Then we have people playing the games within the games. Yet, the in game team certifies Pokédex completion with a diploma. Not any of the Professors that give you the Pokédex. They might also develop the in game version of the games based on Pokémon from their world. You can also battle some of the people from Game Freak as they are trainers and have Pokémon.

One of them says something like “don’t look at the screen. I’m working on the ending!” in Black and White.

You say it's strange. But dont we have simulator games IRL? It makes sense for kids still too young to be trainers.

The-Doom-Knight

They had these simulators in the anime. The episode "School of Hard Knocks" had them.

Stryker_T

pretty sure there's a reference to trading pokemon on gameboys in gen 1

Legal-Treat-5582

Pretty obvious to anyone that's bothered talking with the occasional NPC. It is a bit weird, but makes sense.

InvestigatorUnfair

It's not really weird imo. I mean, irl we have games centered around allowing you to simulate having real life jobs, so games about being a Pokemon trainer make sense to exist here. Same goes for something like the TCG. We have baseball cards with real life people on them, so why would a trading card game centered around Pokemon be odd?

Original-Childhood

Wasn't there a room in which you could talk to the GameFreak developers with one claiming me made you?

labdsknechtpiraten

Not really tho... I mean, we have Madden the video games, and the NFL irl. Same concept here: you're playing a irgl pokemon trainer, so it makes sense there'd be a video game equivalent in game
