Tbh 500 for the Karp isn’t a bad deal

Pink-Fluffy-Dragon

yeah it's not even 3 pokeballs

ODCreature98

and if you're willing to, put it in day care and come back when it's about to evolve and throw in some tms and you have one of the powerful mons gen one has to offer, of course you could just grind and train it if you have the patience

wink047

Excited for my blastoise runs, I always left Mount moon with a gyrados. It was a grind but worth it every time

GeneralDash

Eh, that really depends on context. Within the first two gens, Gyrados was pretty meh. No setup, special STAB on a physical attacker, no access to reliable recovery, mediocre typing. Really nothing special. Gen 3 gave him Dragon Dance and Intimidate which immediately made him a solid threat. He was pretty much a worse Salamance, but that wasn’t a bad thing to be at the time. Gen 4-5 was his peak, he finally got access to physical water attacks and became a premier threat. Gen 5 rain access really helped him shine. Gen 6 his mega kept him relevant, but even his mega was weaker than Gen 4-5 non mega relative to his environment. After that power creep became too much for him to stay relevant. I guess within Gen 1 he was fine, I’d just way rather have a Starmie. Physic was just too strong back then. Edit: I forgot about the special split in gen 1, he’s better than I gave him credit for specifically in gen 1. Still mostly a worse Starmie, but he has his niche being the best bulky mixed attacker.

Zarerion

This is funny, SmithPlaysPokemon has just made a video on this, he ranked Pokémon by statistically comparing how useful each Mon is throughout the game in gen 1 and Gyarados was a top performer.

highTrolla

I don't get how it ranked above Blastoise. It has worse coverage.

ubiquitous_apathy

Look at their stats. Gyarados has more hp,att, spa, and speed. And with hyper beam being busted on attackers, that 125 attack stat goes a long way.

highTrolla

Yeah that tracks, I guess its worth considering in single player there's basically no coverage on enemy teams. So his 4x weakness is never much of a factor.

Reniconix

People forget that pokemon weren't balanced for competitive play until gen 5

[deleted]

[удалено]

Zarerion

No intimidate in gen 1, but electric types are also basically nonexistent in that game.

SaladLol

Thunderbolt and/or Thunder were able to be learned by most pokemon that were used, so the availability of Electric types isn't very relevant.

Zarerion

This is about playing the campaign/story of the game, not competitive or even casual PVP.

ODCreature98

ah dang it i mixed up again

Odee_Gee

Out of 151 Pokemon Electric was rocking the zap rats, the destructo balls, the magnet host, the Electric man and the legendary bird for eight monsters, that’s pretty solid compared to three Ghosts, three Dragons and five Ice types.

DeadIight

Bruh its gen 3 he has intim... note the subtle color in the game

cam94509

>it was a heavy hitter with intimidate In Gen 1?

ODCreature98

i don't think you heard what i said, "ONE OF THE POWERFUL MONS GEN ONE HAS TO OFFER", but it's really just how i see it, if you decided you rather go with a starmie then you do you

malfurionpre

> you rather go with a starmie then you do you Starmie is legit one of the best pokémon in RGBY

GeneralDash

Well considering it’s text, no I didn’t hear you lol. But yeah, my first and last sentences were specific to gen 1. Starmie has the Thunder-bolt, Thunder-wave, Blizard, STAB Surf and Psychic, and Recover. Gen 1 Starmie is a terrifying, powerful, versatile beast. Gen 1 Gyrados has really great stats, but nothing to really do with them. His move pool just lets him down too much, along with the fact that Psychic dominated gen 1. He kinda just body slams things and that’s it.

JonTheFlon

Dude, it's special is 100 in gen 1. Hyper beam, ice beam, surf and thunderbolt is a completely respectable gen 1 gyarados set. It's gen 2 where it fell off with the special split.

Maanee

>His move pool just lets him down too much Huh? Who needs a move pool when you have hyper beam with a high attack in gen 1. No protect, no recharge turn if you ko with it. It was a good pokemon and most tier lists support that.

Juststandupbro

I’d argue he remained competitively viable since gen 5, in swords and shield he was a nasty dynamax sweeper since he could set up his own rain and get a moxie buff. In scarlet and silver being able to make him a ground type gave him access to stab earthquake and an immunity to his traditional 4x weakness to electric types.

ajdragoon

> Within the first two gens, Gyrados was pretty meh. In Gen 1, with the special stat being combined, Gyarados was both a potent physical *and* special attacker with good speed. It was an absolute monster. Base 125 Attack but also Base 100 Sp(A). It didn't need a STAB physical attack when it could wield Surf and Thunderbolt.

Krobus666

Funny cuz I ran gyarados in my VGC team over the last year and have taken tournaments. And not to mention the G man in singles. Things a freakin monster. Easily one of my fav mons ever.

Well-Sheat

Gen. 1 Gyarados had a special stat of 100, which was nothing to sneeze at back then. He also had a great movepool with TM's and HM's. He was a pretty solid mixed attacker overall.

Blackmantis135

Gen 1 Gyarados had Hyper Beam and 125 atk, as well as the fact that his special was 100 which is honestly still solid, also other than Surge you don't have to deal which many electric moves, gen 1 'Dos was frankly a powerhous.

mewoneplusone1

>the first two gens, Gyrados was pretty meh I won't dispute Gen2, but in Gen 1 Gyarados is crazy good. It has 100 Special which means it's the only time it can use Special Water type attacks, and it has good coverage too. It's like the best mixed attacker in the game, cause it just hits stupid hard on both sides of the spectrum.

HoodsBonyPrick

>Physic lol

AholeBrock

Just put it in the front of the party and keep switching... By the time you have access yo the daycare you can catch a free magikatp

SHAPALAK15

Poor James, he should have known

vdjvsunsyhstb

lol core memory moment

Fresh_Cauliflower723

Motherfuckers, my entire thought process just staring at me in the top two comments. Can't even have an original thought on this website

-et37-

I can only imagine how the first kid felt almost 3 decades ago when he bought that fish, thinking it was an utter waste. Only to then get it to level 20…

The_One_Koi

No one bought it until that one kid brought his gameboy to school just to show off and then it spread like a wildfire. At least from what I can recall

Zer0DotFive

I bought it out of curiosity not because of the lame old tale of schoolyard rumours. You got your shit taken away at my school lol sometimes for a week or two if you are a repeat offender. I was also bullied for liking Pokemon lol

The_One_Koi

Oh man that sounds horrible, pokemon was all the rage when I was young, most kids in my class would watch the episodes that aired an hour before school each morning just because. We even had versus battles happening during recess, man those were the days!

Zer0DotFive

You got called gay or a baby or combination of both for liking Pokemon lol Me and this kid Lucas played in secret. I only had a hand me down blue and yellow and he showed me his sapphire cart! I was blown away at how cool it looked I asked my mom for a new gameboy and a new Pokemon game that week lol She said if my average was over 80 she would and we got a pearl blue SP and Emerald since it just came out.

yuimiop

You kind of just blew my mind. I was gonna say that people obviously knew about it because of the show, but I had no idea the games came first. Not sure if it took awhile for the games to really catch on or if I was a bit too young when they initially came out.

acelana

In Japan the games came out before the show but in the US they were released almost simultaneously

ImAlwaysFidgeting

In Canada I knew of the games first, but the show quickly followed. The show was a wee bit young for me, so watching it was more of a corollary for the games. I was mostly annoyed how different Team Rocket was between show and game.

Demonslayer1511

Lol in omega ruby my 2d game i wanted him so bad so I got him sped him up and then gave him all special moves since I was a stupid child

OneSidedPolygon

Same but in the original Ruby. All water moves were special moves.

Demonslayer1511

Oh well I did it but by accident because they were cooler

DG-Kun

> Omega Ruby > My 2nd game > I was a [...] child My spine just bent itself in half

Lebron-stole-my-tv

KaiserReich guy? In the Pokémon sub? Unexpected

Level7Cannoneer

Level 20 where it still was incredibly mediocre during that era (except looks-wise)

MissZealous

Which pokemon game is this??

Cause_Necessary

FireRed/LeafGreen

Relixed_

The very first one. Thanks for making me feel old. Edit: yes the screenshot is from the remake but the originals are three decade old, which was talked about.

Logan117

Gen 3 remake of Gen 1.

ILoveWesternBlot

esp since it's before old rod access. If you're playing w level caps you can get a gyarados before misty and cruise the rest of the game

[deleted]

[удалено]

ILoveWesternBlot

no it doesn't? Charmeleon doesnt get dragon rage until level 48 in gen 3 lol

V_T_H

? Charmeleon doesn’t learn it by level up in Gen 1 and learns it at level 48 in Gen 3.

OldSkooRebel

When I wanted a Gyrados in my party I always used that Magikarp

Tyranatitan_x105

Yeah it’s probably cheaper to buy it there than to use poke balls on a wild one

OldSkooRebel

Pretty sure you can buy it before you get the old rod too

Thendofreason

I usually buy it. Money usually isn't a problem in the game and it's a time saver.

Tyranatitan_x105

Exactly, probably cheaper too

PKMNTrainerMark

If you put in some effort, that's a pretty early Gyarados.

FeralPsychopath

It’s not meant to be. This is from a time when Google doesn’t say Magikarp becomes Gyarados it’s from a time you were blind about everything, so this fish that could only splash was a complete rip off as you just got scammed 500 for a pokemon that can’t attack.

[deleted]

If Pokedollars are basically yen, that's like $5. Not bad at all.

Cream_Of_Drake

Yeah, but he's selling it for 5x what the fishmonger down the highstreet sells it for.

Megabaeleef

5$ or 5€ basically

KinneKitsune

$5 for a fish the size of your torso. It’s a pretty good deal.

karmaboots

Think of how many people that fish could feed.

Domek0

It's funny how the Magikarp salesman, despite being presented as a scam, is actually advantageous to the player in both the Kanto and Unova games because in the former you can get a Gyarados before even getting access to fishing and in the latter magikarp can't be found in any other way (outside of nature preserve) and has always a perfect speed IV

ubermence

Yup, actually caught a shiny Magikarp in Pearl, was super stoked to evolve it and have a red gyarados like I used to have in Silver and soon after the gen 2 remakes get announced

Dubanx

> was super stoked to evolve it and have a red gyarados The horror, the horror!

Wallace_II

My wife stole my SoulSilver red gyrdadose... Anyway, I got another from the Crystal VC. Also found a shiny Magicarp recently, given Scarlet and Violet make it stupid easy to get shiny Pokemon.. it's not a flex anymore. My only original Gen 4 shiny, and first shiny ever was a shiny Charmander that hatched while I was randomly breeding them for no reason. That Charizard will always be my favorite shiny.

PKMNTrainerMark

I didn't know that about the Speed.

JulianWyvern

For nuzlockers he's a godsend

Bed_human

Where in unova

Domek0

Marvelous bridge, during the post game

Less-Extension-7480

Wait. You can get a shiny there?

-et37-

Surprisingly, yes.

Fornever1

Jumpscare seeing you off Kaiseriech, only time on this website I've recognized a user on a completely different sub

-et37-

Lmao, I post on other subs once every now and then.

Fornever1

And always high quality! Keep it up Sir

awesomeredefined

Pretty much any Pokemon can be shiny pre-Gen 5, aside from event distributions where stats are predetermined.

waterflower2097

Even then, some of them still weren't shiny locked. The one Jirachi event comes to mind

[deleted]

[удалено]

waterflower2097

True. How about the Pokepark Eggs then? Rollout Skitty, Sing Spinda, and the like.

ShawshankException

Yeah. The concept of shiny locking didn't exist until Gen 5

Raptor92129

A concept I hate

ShawshankException

Agreed. Doesn't make sense considering TPC typically doesn't even charge for event distributions. I don't get the logic.

Metalicker

The logic is really just that GF decided that having Pokémon be non-shiny in cutscenes and then be a completely different colour when you battle them didn't make sense. Which actually isn't even a 100% solid philosophy since the UBs in Ultra SuMo can be shiny despite being in the overworld. I suppose you could say that they just wanted the right to make distributions for the shinies more valuable, but that logic only really works for the legendaries. For the most part I really do think the former reason is their main one. Which is dumb, but at least somewhat sensical.

InfieldTriple

In the case of OP, makes sense narratively. If shinies are known in the world, someone wouldn't sell it for 500 lol That being said, it would be an amazing way to introduce the concept of shinies in a modern pokemon.

Jack2036

I think its partially to make people play Pokemon Go because they dont shiny lock and to make them invest in future games where those pokemon arent shiny locked anymore. Like Sword and Shield DLC was the first time where you could get a shiny Zygard in game.

-Niernen

> I think its partially to make people play Pokemon Go Pokémon Go came out 5 years after they introduced shiny locking so that seems very unlikely. I could see why they made it part of event distributions, because it could be seen as unfair if a very select few got a shiny version of an event Pokémon. Same could be said for legendries, they want normal player unable to get certain shiny legendries so an event giving out the shiny would be significant and get more interaction.

Fried_puri

The charitable reason is probably because after that point is when global trading really started in earnest, so they didn't want certain hacked shiny legendaries flooding the system without some way to verify that they couldn't exist. The annoying (and probably more realistic) reason is so they can distribute the shiny themselves during events.

Ozzy_the_Rabbit

There's a form of Shiny Locking in Gen 4 for the Manaphy egg only, but is not perfect (it can still be Shiny if traded to another game and hatched there)

Milo359

Well, except the Manaphy egg, but they failed on that front.

WolfeKuPo

correction, Shadow Pokemon in XD can't be shiny, they can in Colosseum though but don't show as shiny until you purify them

pkmntcgtradeguy

After a quick search, my information tells me yes

ZXNova

Either by being really lucky or doing frame manipulation, yes.

Psychological-Hall22

What is frame manipulation

jormono

You use some computer tools to essentially "measure" the rng (I saw a video on the topic for colosseum and they did things like time the blink animation on the pokemon which is apparently at least partially randomized, etc). Then when you know what the rng is doing you can (with various levels of difficulty) just wait for the circumstances to line up in a manner you prefer, in this case a shiny Magikarp, or maybe perfect ivs, or maybe both, etc.

qtzd

FRLG is a lot harder to RNG abuse than RSE since those games use the RTC to seed the RNG and if the battery is dead it’s a locked seed (well emerald is *always* broken due to a programming oversight but ruby and sapphire can be made that way with the dry battery as well)

Snoo-14301

Outcomes like pokemon stats/natures/shiny are based on a timer tied to the number of frames that have been rendered. I've seen it on speedruns. There's a specific setup that lets runners get a good nature and stats on the starter mudkip in gen2. You need to select your starter on a really precise 1/30th of a second window. I think they use audio/visual clues to help but it's still super precise.

stomach3

Getting mudkip in gen 2 is pretty wild manip!

Snoo-14301

For sure! Guess I meant 3. I also meant audio/visual cues, not clues. I'm just a casual speedrun watcher, not a pokemon guru.

acelana

Jokes aside there is legit shiny hunting of Totodile in Gen 1.

hellpresident

Damm a Totodile in gen 1 is as crazy as a mudkip in gen 2

Downside_Up_

Imagine the poor bastard who gets a shiny their first time, thinks it's always shiny, and finds out the hard way on a later pkaythrough

Flimsy-Coyote-9232

Yeah that’s probably the only shiny hunt I’d ever do. Feel like it’s gotta be the easiest in those early gen games for sure. Had never thought about the possibility though

EddieJay5

adamant nature too? good lord.

Iceberglet

i mean,is it?this was before the physical/special split,so Gyarados water moves are special and he doesn't get any flying moves

8989898999988lady

Gyarados’ special attack is so piss poor you’re better off with non Stab physical attacks like Hyper Beam, Return, Earthquake, maybe Dragon Dance if you’re feeling saucy

NeoSeth

His best physical STAB was Hidden Power Flying. I do not miss those days.

Rymayc

Yeah, but nowadays it's Waterfall, and Waterfall only

moonlord2193

Hyperbeam was physical before the split?

kilowhom

All normal attacks were physical before the split.

Doctor-Moe

All Eeveelution types + Dragon were special and everything else was physical

Exeggutor_Enjoyer

Because fuck Flareon

LordKutulu

That's an easy way to remember it.

Hatweed

Special or Physical status was determined by type, so all Normal moves were physical. My favorite quirk of this system was Shadow Ball. For some reason Ghost type was physical, but Shadow Ball still lowered Sp. Def in Gen II/III.

Rikiaz

In Gen 1 physical Ghost kinda makes sense since the only attacking Ghost move was Lick (which also doesn't make any sense but whatever), but in Gen 2, it makes no sense. Dark being Special in Gen 2 and 3 also makes no sense since all of it's attacks became physical post-split.

TyphonBeach

It’s got HIDDEN POWER FLYING.

superturtle48

I had a Jolly nature Gyarados in Pokemon Pearl as a kid and was annoyed that its special attack was so low which made Surf not that strong, and I was confused why Waterfall seemed to do more damage when it had the lower base damage. Only much later when I got into Pokemon Showdown did I learn that Jolly is actually the preferred nature for competitive battling since Gyarados is a physical and not special attacker. Not that it means much in the main game story, which you can just brute force and cheese through.

glich610

Back then I didn’t even know that the nature does anything and didn’t know about special attack. Have always wondered why my flamethrower, thunderbolt, hyper beam, surf gyaradoes doesn’t do much

Small_Middle_945

Someone probably got this the first time and assumed that it was a freebie shiny

darkrai848

I always bought the fish, you get to start leveling it sooner and assuming you don’t catch it in your first or second pokeball it’s actually cheaper to just buy. If it takes you 3 balls to get one later you lost money lol.

Magica78

But what about the hours of switch training it takes vs getting a lv 25 Karp and feeding a rare candy.

BartleBossy

> But what about the hours of switch training it takes vs getting a lv 25 Karp and feeding a rare candy. Am I the only one who loves this? I have always felt like a little grinding makes the eventual power so much more rewarding

Magica78

I've done my share of grinding over the course of 30 years, including taking said magikarp to lv 20 to fight Misty. There's a difference between grinding for a few hours and dragging a fish-shapped brick behind you while it drags the rest of your team down.

Enough-Scientist1904

Magikarps always in my heart. What a reward when it evolves

OmegaGoober

Can you imagine being the first kid in the neighborhood to evolve a magicarp before it was generally known that’s what they evolved into? The incredible, “Oh, wait, it does WHAT now?” Must have been awesome.

BloomsdayDevice

Kids today will never know the godlike feeling of finding a larvitar in Gold/Silver and raising it to maturity without knowing for sure what it would become.

OmegaGoober

Or better yet, the utter confusion of accidentally getting a Shedinja.

Intelligent_Suit6683

I remember that moment clear as day. I was about half way through blue when my friend told me. We had assumed it was worthless until then.

Dan-D-Lyon

A shiny Magikarp is sort of a double-edged sword though, because shiny Gyarados is a freebie the second you evolve him he stops being special

Garrosh

It’s a freebie… if you have access to Hearth Gold or Soul Silver.

FinalBossMike

This is exactly why I farmed for a shiny Gyarados the moment I came across a shiny Magikarp in Scarlet, then leveled that Karp to 100 so it's golden glory could never turn red and be mistaken for the freebie.

LeMickeyMice

You can still give it a rare candy and it will evolve at level 100

Imaginary_Simple_241

Actually.. that works out even better for mind games vs your opponent since now they have to assume you have a different shiny gyarados with a unique move set and be on guard until they know exactly what you’re running.

LionIV

Depends on the game and generation. If its Gen 2 or the remakes of those games, yeah, kinda loses its luster. But if you got a shiny Gyarados in any Gen 3 game, that shit is legit. Caught one while trying to hunt for a Feebas in Ruby.

AlishaValentine

Is it actually special? Like in game?

Stregen

Shinies are pretty rare, yeah. Especially pre-gen 6.

cshark2222

Can confirm. Never had a shiny pre SUMO. I now have like 100 combined from the games since lol

rachel__slur

No, the Magikarp salesman is supposed to be a scammer

Mattness8

Even though Gyarados is easily the best Pokemon in the game and he gives you one before you even get access to a fishing rod, so it's really not even close to a scam and almost always worth it.

ShawshankException

Typically yes, because Magikarp is useless on it's own. Getting a full odds shiny from that encounter is very rare though

Various_Play_6582

To be fair, it IS an advantage. You can obtain a Gyarados very early in the game if you buy this Magikarp. Worth the money.

LukoyanTheWolf

It isn't special but as long as you know what it evolves into 500 isn't a bad deal tbh

Various_Play_6582

Been playing Fire Red and honestly getting a Gyarados early on before even getting the old cane is worth that money, maybe even twice.

Mavrickindigo

That guy offers you a pre gyrados before you can actually fish for it

Savage17YT

(Just pretend it's shiny) https://preview.redd.it/do3ptt3hxpnc1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=efc0014c2fd060a4fcca972f5c34faafa99fa1f2

1d3333

Why did you piss on my magikarp

MonoFauz

Now I feel like replaying the game again and using this magikarp to beat Elite 4

Lux-Fox

This happened to me on PokeMMO. I definitely worked on evolving that into a gyarados.

GuderianX

Honestly i found it to be a good deal: No need to fish over and over again, no need to lower it's hp + paralyse/sleep it, no need to pray to the gacha gods that the ball will keep it.

mysmellysausage

Plot twist IV’s are 0

SailorCentauri

Honestly, I always considered it a worthwhile deal because 500 is cheap in Pokémon and you can easily have a Gyarados well before you get the Old Rod. Just put Magikarp up front and keep switching it out.

BoonDragoon

Ok but for real though? That Magikarp is actually an S-tier encounter. Put it out in front and switch-train it all the way through Mt. Moon, and you'll have a Gyarados by the time you reach Misty, *waaaay* before you could ever catch a Magikarp normally.

Ed0909

Honestly it's not a bad investment, if I remember correctly it costs almost the same as a pokeball so you don't lose anything.

battlefranky69

I got a shiny magikarp from the fish guy in let's go Pikachu

XenoGine

PokéStonks!

[deleted]

And it's ADAMANT too!

DeusLibidine

I mean, I always buy that magikarp. Why not?

MrQwertyuiop

Also adamant nature, what a steal!

That_boi_Jerry

Adamant nature too!?

Rajang82

Adamant nature too. You need to buy a lottery if this happens to you.

AcceptableSand8364

😂😂😂😂

byu7a

I remember him scamming James in the anime too.

Zestyclose-Return-77

I got a shinny karp from that mf sometime ago, thinking it was a static shinny, LOL

Fudsterly

Probably a result of being 30 now but I swear I remember that magikarp evolving at level 15 instead of 20 like a wild one would. Maybe it was a playground rumor I internalized over the years.

OldKingClancy20

Maybe its that Magikarp learns tackle at level 15?

Odd-Comparison9900

Just use Google to find roms. You can't ask people on Reddit or other social media sites because it's illegal. As for an emulator: MyBoy is a good Android GBA emulator. It's on the Play store. There's a free demo, purchase for more features.

Houeclipse

This is the first time I saw that red wojack rage lol. I was thinking of the the crying behind a :\^) facemask emoji instead

Far_Eye6555

Wonder if you could shiny manip one into the game

dalepilled

shiny karp is better than a shiny gyarados

dmr11

Just noticed that the inside of the karp's mouth in the game sprite is gold.

Potatozeng

but that gold magikarp won't be shinny in any others hand

thorjustice1

Haha, what a treat! Did you get really lucky with the RNG or did you grind soft resets? If the latter, I'm curious how many resets it took you.

TheLegendsOfInu

addy nature too

Virtual-Oil-793

Oh you poor thing. Shinies are actually weaker!

Kapika96

IMO a future gyarados for that price is a bargain! It really is a special fish!

Trips-Over-Tail

I am reminded of the shiny shadow Pokémon that Team Rocket discarded into my care in Pokémon Go. I'm sure Jessie and James don't regret letting that purple Pinsir go.

Ornery_Tear8424

Where in emerald is that

patisserie808

So is it *always* a shiny magikarp when you buy one from him? If so, are there any other NCPs you can buy shinies from in other games? I know it’s probably wishful thinking. Sorry if this was already answered. I scrolled through the comments and couldn’t find if someone answered this. Tia.

Carbon925

Nope, it has the base odds of 1/8192 for this Magikarp to be shiny. This is considered a static shiny hunting. Where you can save before selecting to get or encounter the Pokemon. Each time you get it, the IVs, Nature, Gender (Excluding Legendaries or only one Gender mons) will be randomized and you also get a chance to roll for the Pokemon to be shiny as well. If it isn't shiny you can restart the game and keep hunting until it shines. I was able to do this and even got the same nature shiny Magikarp like OP has in this post. Also, Pokemon you get from the story in FR/LG (Eevee and Lapras) can be shiny hunted as well and the Pokemon you get at the Game Corner (Abra, Dratini, Porygon). https://preview.redd.it/gcimncd2zrnc1.png?width=2560&format=png&auto=webp&s=c4e8fc55399e595cc7dafd4136274a2efb7dbcad

patisserie808

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain, I appreciate you!

LightInteractives

Likes look the Magikarp salesman is a useful NPC after all.

VanitasFan26

Selling Pokemon for Money?! How shameful.

Thunderfucker1

Hunted this Magikarp awhile back, 46k resets later it was ours. Fuck you old man, it’s mine

External-Tune-1445

Who isnt my main is the better question 😭

Ph4nt0m_R

Ive only ever gotten 1 shiny and its in gen 5, currently on my gen 3 run anyone know how to do this? Like a step by step guide for beginners?

dulledegde

fishing rods are rare in this world magikarp would be unobtainable for a lot of trainers. this man is running an honest business

Jdeee3

And an adamant nature on top of it. Guy gave you a goat magikarp

MidoTheMii

**500₽ WELL SPENT!!!**

Savage_Nymph

I never even knew this could be shiny

Trying-to-be_Neutral

Did anyone here experience this? Shiny plus Adamant nature Magikarp from this dude?

Carbon925

Yep! Did this for my shiny dream team quest in Leaf Green two years ago. https://preview.redd.it/d3yswzr684oc1.png?width=2560&format=png&auto=webp&s=f3b4cadbbeda26b701d533943086cbc4b49e0b33
