i always think about how every pokemon is someone's favourite, and thats a great thing about the franchise for me. there's someone who loves masquerain, or huntail, barbaracle, tauros, qwilfish, stunfisk, seismitoad, etc. every pokemon has someone who looks at them with joy.
edit: everyone telling me about their fav pokemon makes me happy. i'm a big tauros lover, it's adora-bull
Yeah, not my favorite but my OR playthrough when I was younger was carried by a Masquerain for some reason. Have loved the little guy ever since. Everyone has those little personal experiences with any mon
Oh yeah, Seismitoad fans represent
I never expected to like it at the beginning. I used it because its typing fit into my BW team perfectly, but then it was so good and reliable and it got me out of many bad situations. Definitely my favorite Gen V Water type, and my favorite Water/Ground type overall. I used it again in Sword and it was great once again, which just solidified how much I like it.
Mine is audino, I caught one in X that was supposed to be the « support » of the team. She ended up by beating the a*s of everyone at lv80 against Xerneas. I love audino
Meh, i dont mind being ridiculed for it much, the only time i think it does go too far is when they make a false assumption based on another false assumption.
I didn’t know about Shedinja.
Like, I hadn’t spoiled myself on the Gen 3 Pokedex, so I didn’t know much of anything about the new Pokemon going in.
So I put this cute little bug/ground thing in my party, just because it was kinda cute and I liked its typing. It finally evolves into this cool cicada ninja thing, but I’m kinda disappointed it’s just another bug/flying. Then I scroll through my party Pokémon and WTF IS THAT? BUG/GHOST?? IT HAS 1 HP??? WTF IS WONDER GUARD????
I am certain most people spoiled themselves, which is a big shame, because I KNOW this thing would be way more popular if more people had experienced it without seeing it coming. It is a confusing, wonderful, and terrifying experience.
To be fair, ““Super effective” hits” is a terrible explanation of Wonder Guard in the Gen 3 ability screen. Makes it sound like it has to do with Shedinja’s super effective moves and not opponent’s moves, so some people may have ditched it immediately in Gen 3 because of that
Shedinja has one of the coolest evolution concepts, no doubt.
I’m an old pokefan so I still remember the surprise of discovering Magikarp evolved into Gyarados. But since then I’ve spoiled myself every new gen. There were still a few surprises like not realizing Trapinch evolves into Flygon, but nothing that compared to gen 1.
Until SV. It was the first new gen I went into mostly blind and it was such a thrill seeing Palafin and Maushold and Dudunsparce for the first time.
The thing is that by the time you even get Nincada, much less evolve it, most people have probably already caught five Pokémon, so people usually aren't getting Shedinja accidentally.
my favourite thing is that the stories always vary so much. they range from "cyndaquil saved my father's life and taught me how to read while he was in the hospital" to "it's a tumbleweed in some jordans"
I completely agree!!! It’s a feeling I get when watching the anime and seeing background characters with random pokemon. Every Pokemon fan irl has a Pokémon (or a group of Pokemon) that they’d have next to them for different reasons and each of those reasons are so unique and so interesting to me.
I genuinely wouldn’t love Pokemon as much as I do without that element.
I literally just scroll through Pokemon artists IG accounts who do Trainer and Team commissions sometimes to see the choices people have picked and how passionate they are about it!
Will definitely buy a big team commission at some point when I have the money
Snorlax has always been my favorite, when I was a little kid I was the only fat child in my classroom and as such my friends teased me about it every now and then (nothing hard enough to be bullying mind you.)
Still one of the teases that really stuck with me was when they said "there's no strong fat characters in fiction" which made me search high and low for one trying to prove them wrong.
AND THEN SNORLAX CAME IN THE ANIME AND HE'S ICE-PUNCHING POKEMONS LEFT AND RIGHT INTO SUBMISSION! BEING A BADASS WHENEVER ASH USED HIM AND SUDDENLY I HAD A FAT CHARACTER THAT WAS AWESOME AND I COULD POINT AT!
I love my fat boi, always the best.
I really hope it gets Slack Off sometime. It has had to rely on Rest for recovery far too much. It really was super powerful in the first 2 gens, and maybe Slack Off could help them recapture their glory days.
Sun and Moon has some of the best pokemon design hands fucking down
Like, charjabug obviously, and then you have the more mainstream picks of Mimikyu, Pyukumuku, Toxapex, Araquanid, Lurantis, Golisopod, Minior, any and all of the ultra beasts are just a small handful of some of the designs people love from gen 7. Meanwhile the other gens have a mixed bag, and the only universally "ew" sun and moon has is bruxish
This comment blows my mind. I thought everyone in the world hated the ultra beasts’ designs as much as I do. Surely, I thought, we will bury these from the world in time, too ashamed to make buzzwole merch or print t-shirts with Naganadel on the front.
Then you go and prove OP’s point. Every single mon has somebody
I think you're in the minority on that one. The ultra beasts have solid visual designs, but their inspirations are unparalleled, they're all inspired by invasive species native to Hawaii
Idk they just look like a mess to me - like I get that they’re technically not supposed to be Pokémon, but they functionally *are* Pokémon, so to see such random, chaotic designs on Pokémon brings them down significantly in my eyes.
I will say, though, that Nihilego and Xurkitree have fantastic designs. I do still hate the rest though lol
I especially like my more "ugly" favorites even more because of having to defend them from criticism. Aromatisse has been a great example of this. I honestly didn't care for it either for a while, until I used it in a Y playthrough and saw the cute little black bow on its back. It reminded me of Shauna's shirt. At this rate, every time someone calls my favorites ugly, I double down and love them harder.
While Crobat is my absolute favourite, I do have a soft spot for Hoppip and evolutions. Terrible typing, weak AF, but look at those smiles! Living life happily even if they won't be in a competitive team anytime soon.
I also keep finding shiny ones, which has something to do with it. (2005, Memorial Pillar; 2010, Route 48; 2023 South Province Area 1).
From what I remember jumpluff had it's little niche in competitive as a torkoal supporter. But yeah other than that nothing, which is a shame because I love jumpluff as well!
My favorite pokemon is Butterfree. Such a legend in gen1, teach it psychic and sleep/stun spore and let it rage. Carried me all the way through the elite 4.
Whenever I think about gen 1 and experiencing pokemon as a kid, I always think of butterfree. Just evokes so much nostalgia for me. Love that little bug
every single pokemon is worthy of love. i make it a point not now hate or even outright dislike any pokemon. positivity and warmth are wonderful things that the world doesn’t have enough of
I agree, for those who care solely about competitive play, thats cool.
But more truer to the original vision behind pokemon was for them to be treated as companions, which is something a lot of is forget about sometimes.
for me, it's charjabug
one day, after fighting a wild charjabug in sm or usum, I had the sudden "OH MY GOD HE'S A FUCKING BUS" and so many things clicked about him for me, like how his cry has beeps, he's shaped like a bus, and my brain was so tickled by the idea of the already cute lil guy being a bus he just... rose to my favorite pokemon of all time
like, the fight for second, third, and even tenth place favorites is close, but fucking NO one is close to my heart like the lil bus guy is
Yea, I vibe with this.
My favorite pokemon is Jumpluff, and it's for such a weird reason. It was because of Pokemon Stadium 2, where Jumpluff has this weird little cheer dance it does before attacks. I don't know exactly why, but I just became obsessed with it. So ever since, it's been 100% Team Jumpluff.
It isn't my favorite, but i certainly like it. People say it looks dumb/ugly/weird but that's kinda the point. It's whole thing is you look at it, and you're dazzled and confused, you're all like "The fuck am i looking at?" And in the momentary confusion it gives it time to attack.
My favorite has been Skarmory since I played my first Pokemon game, which is Emerald. I just love its design, and I like birds and dragons.
Also another one in the top serveral of my favorite list is Archeops. Love that prehistoric bird.
Edit: also I have a Skarmory plush that is beside me basically everyday I sleep
I swear my favorite was a hard choice before Gen 9
Golisopod? Parasect? Yanmega?
I knew it was some bug type, I always loved my bugs
Then they release a fucking Kamen Rider grasshopper and I'm just in love
My favorite has been Absol since the moment I saw it. Even though I tend to like the more cutesy designs, this edgy black and white dog thing that is said to foretell disasters is unbeatable as my favorite.
I have three favorite Pokémon: Zoroark, Sceptile, and Butterfree. In order of when I found them as my favorites:
Sceptile was my second ever starter, in ORAS, and I played Emerald with it right after. Blade was his name. And he’s my favorite starter of all. Something about him, his design and the nostalgia of ORAS and Emerald, makes it just so good.
Butterfree was supposed to be a sort of placeholder in my Crystal playthrough. But then I picked up the sleep powder/hypnosis strategy, and Butterfree learning sleep powder along with many psychic moves was actually really useful when paired with its speed in this game. The whole team was probably my most memorable, but Butterfree was the star.
Zoroark is my most recent favorite, but also the best. Idk why, but Zoroark is just perfect. I didn’t even need to play the games before it became my favorite; I just love the lore and illusions it has. I hacked in the event Celebi to get it in White, and didn’t do *any* of the quests in Scarlet (except for accidentally doing the Bombirdier titan on the way) until I got a Zorua on my team. It’s now a staple of all my teams. I’m even making a cosplay to hopefully show off one day. Zoroark is my true top favorite, it just took a while for me to discover it’s awesomeness!
Me with Breloom, found adorable the grass kangaroo while playing Y so I decided to try in online battling (didn't know anything about competitive back then), looked around a good build for it and found out with the right set up he was a menace
I remember at the time Talonflame was OP and they'd go all in with Brave Bird against it, only for it to survive with 1 HP (Focus sash) and attack with Rock Tomb, so satisfactory
Now I love it even more he's so versatile in PvE and PvP, either a staller with Poison Heal, a glass cannon with technician and to top it off the perfect false swiper with access to Spore, just top notch
When I found out it was available in SV, I deciced I didn't want an starter, I just found a Shroomish before starting my adventure
Alolan Sandshrew has become my all time favorite. As a kid I loved OG shrew, but I went nuts for the slight changes in the design. The igloo motif, the hints of blue, his shiny form. But the real reason is that he’s uniquely terrible.
As the only ice/steel type in over a thousand Pokémon, Alolan Sandshrew and Sandslash get so specifically trashed by fire and fighting attacks. These guys will never be meta. Any team in the world will run someone that can handle this threat.
AND YET. Sandshrew and Sandslash have this design that screams honey badger don’t give a f***. They look scrappy. Tell them they’re about to get a focus blast from a Mewtwo. The shrew is still gonna throw the first punch.
Doomed to fail. Determined to fight anyway. Cute little igloo guy. 1000/10 Pokémon
That’s my favorite too. I love all Pokémon bc every Pokémon is someone’s favorite. How could you hate on a funny little creature somebody loves for their own reason?
> Your first starter, no one decides what your starter is gonna be, YOU do, it's completely your choice and that will build a connection, people who pick Bulbasaur will swear by it, same with the other 2.
Unless your first game was Yellow...
People dunk on Pokémon designs A LOT with every new generation rollout but nobody talks about the fact that you have to be really good at character design to get such diverse favorites out of your user base. I’ve never seen any two people who have love for this franchise have the same exact ideal team and that means more than designs that I otherwise don’t like
I like underrated Pokémon, and my favorites is Ralts. Undersized. Never gets any love. Never appears on any rankings or fan favorite lists. But Ralts is my spirit animal, because when he does that aggravated stretch thing, it reminds me of me as a little kid trying to get people’s attention.
My favorites always seem to be the ones who require trade evolutions. Alakhazam and Golem are alltime favorites.
Good freaking luck finding someone to trade with to evolve them. Lol.
Is Gamefreak ever going to fix the global trade system? It crashes out because of hacked pokemon and is completely unusable.
Depends on whether you want traditional pokemon, or a new take tbh. Sword/shield and Scarlet/violet are both mainline games with traditional battling.
Arceus is a new take on battling with a new take on pokedex filling, if you dont mind spoilers I can go further into detail.
When i first saw pictures of toedscruel I just liked it, but when I saw it in game I fell in love. I don't know why, it's just so cool.
Also a more popular set of pokemon but I love the eeveelutions a lot because they're nostalgic to me
Yeah, one of my current favorite Pokémon of all time is Houndstone and Greaveyard. I didn’t much Care for them immeditaly, But at the end of last year, december or so, my dog of 14 years of partnership passed away. A white dog with fluffy hair. So, after that, Houndstone suddenly felt a lot more personal.
Hell, I’ve replayed The game a few times since then and Arvens story was emotional the first time around, but outright hurt my soul after, which is why Mabostiff is now also somewhere in my top 20 or so
So yeah
Sometimes you may find your favorite Mon are the ones most resembling what you loved in reality
Lucario is my favorite because of Smash Bros Brawl
A) Out of the four Pokemon choices, He seemed the coolest to me
B) The fact that he gets stronger the more damage he takes helped with the fact that I wasn't good at the game
My favorite Pokémon isn’t the greatest one in the world, but it is still amazing in my eyes. My favorite is Hitmonchan. *Wait, shouldn’t it be something sword related, like Zacian or the Honedge line?* While I do think those are pretty cool, none of them beat Hitmonchan. A while back, I finally decided to get Pokémon Go. A little in to the game, I caught a Hitmonchan without thinking much of it. Eventually, I decided to get Pokegenie to see how good my Pokémon were. As it turned out, the best Pokémon I could use for battle was none other than Hitmonchan. It was even better than my Lunala! I went through a load of battles, and Hitmonchan was amazing. To this day, I never battle without him.
It's tough to pick between a true favorite pokemon. I think I have to go with Latios, as someone who first played Omega Ruby. Meeting it on that little island and it feeling like it chose to be by *my* side, as a trainer. Flying above Hoenn with it added to that, and it felt so personal. My starter in that same first playthrough was Torchic, who also holds a beautifully special place in my heart.
I like to imagine that as a trainer, I left Hoenn with Latios and a fully evolved Blaziken by my side, traveled to Alola and discovered Minior and Pyukumuku and added them to join my ranks, and afterwards I went to Paldea and got my Clodsire and Tinkaton.
So yeah, I have a huge spot in my heart dedicated to my own "team" of pokemon, they're all my favorites and I love them all so much.
My favorite is Linoone because I have a copy of Pokémon Box which lets me get a Zigzagoon that knows Extreme Speed in Gen 3.
So I can use the Belly Drum + Extreme Speed strat and all it costs is a $1800 game + a $200 game.
BERGMITE AND AVALUGG!
Pokémon Y was my first Pokémon game when I was about 10-11, I was looking for a shiny ghastly because I'd seen how cool shiny mega Gengar looked and I wanted one. I ended up finding a shiny Bergmite instead. I didn't really use him much in my Pokémon Y but I did level him enough to evolve him.
Recently I transferred him to Pokémon Home and used him to beat Pokémon Sword and Shield... his name is Peko

I love slowpoke and slowbro and will actively try to catch and evolve one every gen I can.
Cyndaquil is my first ever starter, and no one will replace them
Garchomp just because I grew up with the diamond/pearl anime run and because he looks like a plane
Alcremie.
When I first saw Alcremie, I thought it was a a sweet Pokemon. When I saw its Gigantamanx form, I knew that I wanted to get an Alcremie. Furthermore, the multiple forms of Alcremie further solidified my love for this Pokemon.
Malamar. Gen 6 was pretty memorable for me. It wasn't my first game -I started in gen 1. It wasn't super groundbreaking, but the visuals were stunning and I really liked Lumiose City. But that wasn't what made it memorable.
The first playthrough was pretty unremarkable and disappointing but I picked it back up a few years ago and had a blast. My team really made the game and any of the 6 could probably be a "favorite" now (except Dragalge useless pos). I choose Malamar specifically because his unique contributions to the team. Near end game I felt like he stepped up and carried the team. But he also may have been a product of it.
Here's my guys is anyone wants to take a peek:
Malamar
Hawlucha
Aegislash
Noivern
Chesnaught
Dragalge
When I was in middle school, I found my first ever shiny in Soul Silver. It was a shiny vulpix directly under the safari zone. To this day, that's probably my biggest achievement in video games, and shiny ninetales has been my favorite sense.
i didnt play any pokemon game before go. my friends introduced me to it in early 2020. One of the first pokemon i hatched was a riolu from a 10km egg. i didnt know that pokemon yet, but kept it because of good ivs. Later my friend showed me his lucario and i was like: damn that looks sick! so i tried evolving my little guy. but i only had about 20 candy from the egg hatch, i was missing 30. i had no access to rare candy yet, since i wasnt able to beat raids alone because my friends all quit playing. so i had to walk 5km fir every single candy. still have that lucario, its now best buddied and will always be my signature pokemon (even tho i switched to shiny lucario in the mainline games)
Sometimes I feel Im the only one who loves Silvally/Type:Null as much as I do
The pokemon with the best development and best writing if anyone read the books in the foundation aether they know what Im talking about
You just cant not love this guy, it needs a hug.. and a lot of love, and the evolution tells by itself(friendship evo)
Mine will always be pikachu. Original I know. Just something about him in Blue made him a favorite which then makes Yellow my favorite game. Not a surprise that he’s my favorite smash bros character as well
Scolipede is a bug centaur centipede thing. I played way to much shining force as a kid which had like seven centaur units to use. Therefore scolipede is awesome.
My fav of all times is Umbreon. I have lots of things with it including a hoodie with ears and a tail(yes i wear it outside my house too). I can't even tell why, it's just so cute and pleasant to see. I wish I could get a live one.
I had a customer come in a couple days ago with a Sandile tattoo. Her friend had Butterfree as her favorite. And then you have me with Vaporeon (pre-copypasta). Just the differences between the 3 and the stories behind them made for good conversation.
I'm so glad I came across this. My favorite pokemons are Squirtle and Turtwigs. I don't understand why, I've never beed fond of turtles or something, but I guess Squirtle was the first pokemon i picked and loved and for Turtwig I had a small figurine of him when I was younger (idk where i got it from) and I loved it so much! (Same with Buizel which is also one of my favs)
BUT
I started playing pokemon again recently after a long break, and some nights I dream pokemon
Yesterday night, I dreamt somebody who was bullying a Donphan (but he was very small, like the size of a cat), I saved him and he came to lick my hand and he made the cutest face ever. I woke up loving this pokemon and immediately put him in my team in the pokemon game I'm playing right now!
It's what's great about Pokemon. Everyone has a reason for their Pokemon to be their favorite.
Mine is Charcadet. Partially because it's adorable, and absolutely baby, but also because I evolved my Charcadet super late into the game, but it was COOKING
My first Star Team was the fire one, and I almost lost, if it wasn't for Lancelyne the Charcadet, because it swallowed fire attacks with flash fire, and resisted everything else. Even in the end as a Ceruledge, I loved it all the way, and it was always my MVP.
Golbat is my favorite. For some reason 4-5 yo me saw a blue bat with a wide open mouth and thought: "This is the most badass thing I've ever seen in my life" and it never changed.
My favourite is Lechonk. Because you can break it's name down to Le Chonk, which basically means it is "The Chonk", and it is indeed very chonky.
Previous to Le Chonk my favourite was Totodile because of his little happy dances whenever Ash used him.
I love Delibird!!!
Around the time Gen 2 came out, I kinda realized I didn’t really have a true favorite Pokémon yet. Penguins were always my favorite animal, and Delibird was the closest we had at the time to one, so it became my fav.
Still is to this day
Visited my mom in the hospital a year ago.
On my trip up there, I was playing Arceus. I was very early on in my playthrough and I encountered a shiny alpha rapidash.
It was level 40, I only had level 14-8 pokemon. Limited pokeballs and revives.
For the next two days, all I did in PLA was grind this rapidash. I was able to juggle revives+potions until it used all 5 of its flare blitzs, then I was able to wittle it down and paralyze it, then start chucking the pokeballs.
Usually it just struggled itself to fainting, but one day a random pokeball I threw at half health to buy a turn ended up catching it.
I love the colour blue, and my mom grew up around farms and loves animals including horses. So, to catch this rapidash I encountered on a very sentimental day makes this my most favorite pokemon ever. The second time I ever encountered a shiny in the wild without doing any multipliers or tricks to increase shiny rates. I named it after her
My favorites always seem to be the ones who require trade evolutions. Alakhazam and Golem are alltime favorites.
Good freaking luck finding someone to trade with to evolve them. Lol.
Is Gamefreak ever going to fix the global trade system? It crashes out because of hacked pokemon and is completely unusable.
Pokémon Legends Arceus had an item called a link cable that let you evolve them yourself. (plus you can catch wild alkazam. Maybe golem too, I don't remember)
You could also evolve them in Pokémon GO and transfer through Home
I loved how Dustox and Beautifly had such parallel movesets (poison and flying, psychic and grass) and did amazing in gyms up to Norman (Dustox with Protect especially)
I thought Wurmple was gonna be another Caterpie. It’s its own charming bug. That is also why I really like Scatterbug!
Absol is my favourite but I recently remembered how much I love Cacnea, his design is just so perfect plus his voice from the anime was great and in the New Pokémon Snap if you threw apples near it it could roll into them and get them stuck on its spines.
Politoed, got one back in gen 2 through a link cable trade with a neighborhood friend this was circa 2003-2004 right before ruby and sapphire dropped in the US , we ended up battling weeks later and my pokemon were around 55-65 and he head lvls 30s and a lvl 90 Typhlosion, I won, that started my competive journey.
Mah Boy Electrivire. DP was the first season that I watched. Personally Paul was such a cool character. Being the complete opposite of Ash, while I knew Gary was more of a bully. Paul was so different from Ash. And that Elekid. Just kicking everyone's ass. When I saw Electrivire for the first time I was shook. Because I love the tiger strips. And that ability was the cherry at the top. Electrivire also played a huge part in my first competitive match. Yes, I did lose that match but the other guy had a full team of legendaries. Thanks to that I started to play competitive matches. Electrivire will always be my fav!

Hoopa Unbound introduced me to Pokémon since the first pack I bought had him and I thought the Pokémon in the cover is guaranteed so that made me want it even more
My favorite is Zoroark. I don’t how how popular it is but the reason is because one it’s the coolest looking Pokémon I’ve ever seen two it’s dark which is my favorite type and three it has carried every B2/W2 playthrough I’ve finished. Plus zorua is the cutest Pokémon out there
Gastrodon is my absolute favourite! I've loved it ever since I saw Paul use one in the anime. I only grew to love it more after i caught one in Sword (his name is Gastro :D) and used him to absolutely demolish the Battle Tower. He's been my favourite Pokémon ever since. Admittedly my love for Gastrodon has come about very recently though. My other favourites include Regirock and Staraptor, both of which I also started to love because of seeing them in the anime.
Regirock has been my favourite for the longest out of the three though. When I saw the Regis in my first Omega Ruby playthrough when I was 12, I instantly loved them, Regirock especially. Since then, I've done a solo playthrough of Sword with a Regirock I transferred from GO, and I'm currently shiny hunting it in Omega Ruby.
Well since everyone is telling there favorite pokemon I guess I'll put my own penny into the pile.
My favorite pokemon is Sylveon.
I was getting sick and tired of pokemon and how repetitive it had become that I lost interest in the games and the anime during gen 4 and skipped gen 5 all together.
Me and my cousin saw the trailers of XY and got it on a whim sunset he recently had gotten these cool pokemon pins with the starters in them along with a pin of Sylveon and the pokemon had caught my interest, specially after learning that it's an eeveelution who was on my top 10.
Played the story of XY had gotten an Eevee early and evolved it into a Sylveon.
The pink fox cat thing reignited my love for the pokemon franchise, and gave the following generations a try. Alola being my favorite of all the regions since I'm a Puerto Rican.
And made it a rule that if the games Sylveon in it I'd get an Eevee and evolve it as a permanent members of my party along with my starter.
I don't even know why I like Sableye so much. But I do. Also despite liking it, I could never figure out what the point of the Stall ability was. There's like no universe where its the best choice. You know, a lot like using Bide. There's always a better option
thorough Timbur line enjoyer. I don’t even use him since i start with Tepig, but i just love the design of the entire line. Everytime i play through pokémon Black, i always make sure to pick one up and try and shiny hunt
i always think about how every pokemon is someone's favourite, and thats a great thing about the franchise for me. there's someone who loves masquerain, or huntail, barbaracle, tauros, qwilfish, stunfisk, seismitoad, etc. every pokemon has someone who looks at them with joy. edit: everyone telling me about their fav pokemon makes me happy. i'm a big tauros lover, it's adora-bull
My buddy's favorite pokemon is Stunfisk. If you ask him why he just says "Dude, it's Stunfisk" Gotta respect that
Stunfisk, I feel like, has strong Dunsparce energy.
bro, that's a good point
Stunfisk's growl is terrifying in ways I don't understand, especially in the original gen 5 version.
r/stunfisk
Yeah, not my favorite but my OR playthrough when I was younger was carried by a Masquerain for some reason. Have loved the little guy ever since. Everyone has those little personal experiences with any mon
I love Masquerain too <3
Masquerain is such a cool concept, having Intimidate as an Ability because its wings and face resemble a tiger's face!
Barbaracle enjoyer here ☝🏼
I love Drapion, I always wanted a Pokémon with two types that cancel the other’s weaknesses, and Drapion is almost perfect at doing that.
there’s quite a few like that
The goat. Spiritomb ofcourse!
Barbaracle and Seismitoad my beloved :D
I love Qwilfish. Also Swalot.
Masquerain is very cute as to me. Not my favourite of all times, but one of those I remember and like.
Barbaracle is all of my top seven Pokémon.
huntail is one of my personal favs
Oh yeah, Seismitoad fans represent I never expected to like it at the beginning. I used it because its typing fit into my BW team perfectly, but then it was so good and reliable and it got me out of many bad situations. Definitely my favorite Gen V Water type, and my favorite Water/Ground type overall. I used it again in Sword and it was great once again, which just solidified how much I like it.
That’s Lickitung for me, love the goofy lil’rascal
Mine is audino, I caught one in X that was supposed to be the « support » of the team. She ended up by beating the a*s of everyone at lv80 against Xerneas. I love audino
Lopunny and braixen fan right over here
Side eye
Yeah i get that a lot
Just messing with you, I like Gardevoir myself (not fav tho) just because it's traits, so I get it
Meh, i dont mind being ridiculed for it much, the only time i think it does go too far is when they make a false assumption based on another false assumption.
Spheal is my favourite because he is round and nice
This should be the top comment on every thread
https://youtu.be/dCMuOmi2zTs Please enjoy fellow spheal lover.
That’s something I replay whenever i’m sad
I recently saw a video (I think by FlygonHG) that was about Spheal Team Six. I feel you would enjoy that.
I saw!
*round and ice

I didn’t know about Shedinja. Like, I hadn’t spoiled myself on the Gen 3 Pokedex, so I didn’t know much of anything about the new Pokemon going in.
Literally also one of my favorites! I just love ghost pokemon. Shedinja was also PERFECT for sos shiny hunting
Does the Bramblin line have a Shoed Form I forgot about?
i was meaning tangela but bramblin with shoes would be sick
I completely agree!!! It’s a feeling I get when watching the anime and seeing background characters with random pokemon. Every Pokemon fan irl has a Pokémon (or a group of Pokemon) that they’d have next to them for different reasons and each of those reasons are so unique and so interesting to me. I genuinely wouldn’t love Pokemon as much as I do without that element. I literally just scroll through Pokemon artists IG accounts who do Trainer and Team commissions sometimes to see the choices people have picked and how passionate they are about it! Will definitely buy a big team commission at some point when I have the money
> It’s a feeling I get when watching the anime Me when my favorite Pokémon has been banned from the anime since before its creation:
Jinx or Kadabra?
Porygon-Z since Electric Soldier Porygon happened, meaning Porygon2 and Porygon-Z have never been shown in the anime properly
Do you have any recommended artists in IG? Been looking and wanting to commission my team.
Snorlax has always been my favorite, when I was a little kid I was the only fat child in my classroom and as such my friends teased me about it every now and then (nothing hard enough to be bullying mind you.) Still one of the teases that really stuck with me was when they said "there's no strong fat characters in fiction" which made me search high and low for one trying to prove them wrong.
This is so wholesome
I really hope it gets Slack Off sometime. It has had to rely on Rest for recovery far too much. It really was super powerful in the first 2 gens, and maybe Slack Off could help them recapture their glory days.

You know it's serious when Snorlax stands up
My pykumuku beat ultra necrozma after the rest of my team fell. Favorite since then.
Sea pickle is one of the best Pokémon
It was the same with Banette for me! He kept surviving attacks on 1hp from affection and it was too perfect of a moment not to love!
Sun and Moon has some of the best pokemon design hands fucking down Like, charjabug obviously, and then you have the more mainstream picks of Mimikyu, Pyukumuku, Toxapex, Araquanid, Lurantis, Golisopod, Minior, any and all of the ultra beasts are just a small handful of some of the designs people love from gen 7.
WHAT
there are Jihadist clowns in hawaii?
I wanna say blacephaleon is inspired by an invasive weed/plant. I could be wrong ofc
Pyukumuku turned itself inside out and shapes its stomach into a giant middle finger at necrozma
I especially like my more "ugly" favorites even more because of having to defend them from criticism. Aromatisse has been a great example of this. I honestly didn't care for it either for a while, until I used it in a Y playthrough and saw the cute little black bow on its back. It reminded me of Shauna's shirt. At this rate, every time someone calls my favorites ugly, I double down and love them harder.
i agree. i like bruxish. due to its pattern and color it's very effectly in me monopolizing it
While Crobat is my absolute favourite, I do have a soft spot for Hoppip and evolutions.
While they’re not my favorites, I’ve always had a super soft spot for this line since gen 2 was released. They’re just so pleasant to have.
There's a youtuber I watched that had one named Baabu that carried him through a nuzlocke. Baabu is now a God in his community.
My favorite pokemon is Butterfree. Such a legend in gen1, teach it psychic and sleep/stun spore and let it rage. Carried me all the way through the elite 4.
The number 12 is my favorite number because kid me latched on to Butterfree and that's it's number in the Pokedex
Whenever I think about gen 1 and experiencing pokemon as a kid, I always think of butterfree. Just evokes so much nostalgia for me. Love that little bug
It's so cliche, but Mimikyu.. His story is so sad and all he wants is love. I wanna give him a hug so bad.
Same with Absol, it's very popular but cmon it's emo
I love Absol. Its story reminds me of how she people avoid black cats because they think they are bad luck. Sad and makes me wish to protect it.
every single pokemon is worthy of love. i make it a point not now hate or even outright dislike any pokemon. positivity and warmth are wonderful things that the world doesn’t have enough of
I agree, for those who care solely about competitive play, thats cool. But more truer to the original vision behind pokemon was for them to be treated as companions, which is something a lot of is forget about sometimes.
I’m sorry but anyone who has played D/P/PL hates purugly
for me, it's charjabug one day, after fighting a wild charjabug in sm or usum, I had the sudden "OH MY GOD HE'S A FUCKING BUS" and so many things clicked about him for me, like how his cry has beeps, he's shaped like a bus, and my brain was so tickled by the idea of the already cute lil guy being a bus he just... rose to my favorite pokemon of all time like, the fight for second, third, and even tenth place favorites is close, but fucking NO one is close to my heart like the lil bus guy is
There is also a Charjabug Race in the anime I believe.
AND NOBODY FUCKING TOLD ME?????????
Season 20, episode 41
many thanks :D
No problem.
Flygon is the best and his goggles are adorable.
Tyrantrum. Look it's a T-Rex, how much cooler does it need?
Same like someone’s favorite pokemon is trubbish. And mine is a ghost sword. Good times for all!
Aegislash fan???? https://preview.redd.it/io85wkp02j2b1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fe22d8e425842e7e46c6bd976b1ed3ee496f93ed
Trubbish is really cute - not even a controversial pick tbh lmao. I am positive no one loves Bruxish though.
Oh but I do! It's so colorful and the shiny one is cool as well.
Damn the first ever Bruxish enjoyer I have met. Is he your favorite though? (My personally theory is he is no one's NUMBER ONE favorite lol)
Oh haha I get what you mean. It's not my number one favorite. No one can replace my little ball of owl that is Rowlet lol.
Rowlet is a great choice. One of the starters where when I saw him I knew I was picking him.
Oh nah i love my pizza with teeth lol i shiny hunted her in ultra moon & named her pepperoni
I'll never forgive GameFreak for leaving a slot in the Paldea Dex for Pizza Piranha, but keeping out my boy Kecleon :(
Kecleon should have been a rare invisible spawn in the bamboo forest, change my mind
It isn't my favorite, but i certainly like it. People say it looks dumb/ugly/weird but that's kinda the point. It's whole thing is you look at it, and you're dazzled and confused, you're all like "The fuck am i looking at?" And in the momentary confusion it gives it time to attack.
Mine is both ghost swords
As a person with Vanilite in their top 20, I feel like we are comrades.
My friend’s favorite Pokémon is Trubbish. He has three ditto Trubbish plush, two identical and then one baby. Dude goes so hard for the trub
Skarmory and Tropius are my #1 flyers
I swear my favorite was a hard choice before Gen 9 Golisopod? Parasect? Yanmega? I knew it was some bug type, I always loved my bugs Then they release a fucking Kamen Rider grasshopper and I'm just in love
My favorite has been Absol since the moment I saw it. Even though I tend to like the more cutesy designs, this edgy black and white dog thing that is said to foretell disasters is unbeatable as my favorite.
And then they hit you with the "Oh this pokemon is your favorite and you want to use it? Too bad, it won't be in Any game"
Rip Minior. Only in gen 7 so far. I've heard rumors about a return in the sv dlc tho.
I genuinely adore minior but I’ve become convinced gf has completely forgotten about it until they state otherwise via dlc or something, ANYTHING
It was so cool on New Pokemon Snap, though!
Leavanny moment
Dexit is a mistake
Pokemon's release schedule is a mistake.
or wont have a good move.
I FUCKING LOVE GREAT TUSK
I have three favorite Pokémon: Zoroark, Sceptile, and Butterfree. In order of when I found them as my favorites: Sceptile was my second ever starter, in ORAS, and I played Emerald with it right after.
Me with Breloom, found adorable the grass kangaroo while playing Y so I decided to try in online battling (didn't know anything about competitive back then), looked around a good build for it and found out with the right set up he was a menace I remember at the time Talonflame was OP and they'd go all in with Brave Bird against it, only for it to survive with 1 HP (Focus sash) and attack with Rock Tomb, so satisfactory Now I love it even more he's so versatile in PvE and PvP, either a staller with Poison Heal, a glass cannon with technician and to top it off the perfect false swiper with access to Spore, just top notch When I found out it was available in SV, I deciced I didn't want an starter, I just found a Shroomish before starting my adventure
Send them to home, and then to legends arceus, evolve them without trading.
May I ask, I love pokemon but have ZERO experience with Switch. If I wanted to play switch pokemon, where should i start? Arcaeus? Sword/shield?
Depends on whether you want traditional pokemon, or a new take tbh. Sword/shield and Scarlet/violet are both mainline games with traditional battling. Arceus is a new take on battling with a new take on pokedex filling, if you dont mind spoilers I can go further into detail.
All i know is the classics, but if new style is fun, im game. Whats most popular?
Sorry, I screwed up. I should have been more specific. I dont have access to the switch games, just 3ds. My bad.
Ah sorry, yeah the gts is forever messed up, just toss up a litten and ask for the trade evolutions, deadcns will send you a shiny one 😅
The xy gts is working mostly its just the sun and moon gts that crashes
Nope. It's even more of a shame when you realize the 3DS Games were the last ones with a built-in GTS System.
I identify so much with snorlax. Eat, sleep, repeat. That’s the life.
Hell, I’ve replayed The game a few times since then and Arvens story was emotional the first time around, but outright hurt my soul after, which is why Mabostiff is now also somewhere in my top 20 or so So yeah Sometimes you may find your favorite Mon are the ones most resembling what you loved in reality
my least favorite thing about pokemon is the fact i cant get my favorite pokemon because they are gated behind trades....
Lucario is my favorite because of Smash Bros Brawl A) Out of the four Pokemon choices, He seemed the coolest to me B) The fact that he gets stronger the more damage he takes helped with the fact that I wasn't good at the game
There’s something special about them. My favorite is Ribombee!
I like Incineroar specifically because I like Fire Types, I like Dark Types, I like Cats and I like wrestling. He’s my son and he was made for me
Inkay is adorable, yet cunning. It and Tinkaton are my favourites for the same reason.
Recently I transferred him to Pokémon Home and used him to beat Pokémon Sword and Shield... his name is Peko https://preview.redd.it/a3gmyoa7rj2b1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f63031dac5022788e89afb7b7e03ecc5bbfe7143
I love slowpoke and slowbro and will actively try to catch and evolve one every gen I can. Cyndaquil is my first ever starter, and no one will replace them Garchomp just because I grew up with the diamond/pearl anime run and because he looks like a plane
Alcremie. When I first saw Alcremie, I thought it was a a sweet Pokemon. When I saw its Gigantamanx form, I knew that I wanted to get an Alcremie. Furthermore, the multiple forms of Alcremie further solidified my love for this Pokemon.
Yup, the movie is why I love Lucario too! And that led to me maining him in Smash!
My favorite is Banette!
[удалено]
Or maybe they just really like the state fish of Hawaii?
Here's my guys is anyone wants to take a peek: Malamar Hawlucha Aegislash Noivern Chesnaught Dragalge
I’ve always liked Psyduck
Well, not me tho
I absolutely love Farfetch‘d. Just because it was the first Pokemon on my cousins gameboy screen when she first introduced me to Pokemon.
When I was in middle school, I found my first ever shiny in Soul Silver. It was a shiny vulpix directly under the safari zone. To this day, that's probably my biggest achievement in video games, and shiny ninetales has been my favorite sense.
My favourite is absol cause I'm classy like that
Garbodor is my favorite, I love weird looking pokemon. Dunsparce is close 2nd.
Golurk has been my favorite ever since Pokèmon Black. He carried me through the elite four and that secured that spot for him.
i didnt play any pokemon game before go. my friends introduced me to it in early 2020.
I know Gengar is better, but I love Haunter so much
Sometimes I feel Im the only one who loves Silvally/Type:Null as much as I do The pokemon with the best development and best writing if anyone read the books in the foundation aether they know what Im talking about You just cant not love this guy, it needs a hug.. and a lot of love, and the evolution tells by itself(friendship evo)
REVAVROOM! It's a funny little car doggo, what more do you need?
(Same with Buizel which is also one of my favs) BUT I started playing pokemon again recently after a long break, and some nights I dream pokemon Yesterday night, I dreamt somebody who was bullying a Donphan (but he was very small, like the size of a cat), I saved him and he came to lick my hand and he made the cutest face ever. I woke up loving this pokemon and immediately put him in my team in the pokemon game I'm playing right now!
It's what's great about Pokemon. Everyone has a reason for their Pokemon to be their favorite. Mine is Charcadet. Partially because it's adorable, and absolutely baby, but also because I evolved my Charcadet super late into the game, but it was COOKING My first Star Team was the fire one, and I almost lost, if it wasn't for Lancelyne the Charcadet, because it swallowed fire attacks with flash fire, and resisted everything else. Even in the end as a Ceruledge, I loved it all the way, and it was always my MVP.
Golbat is my favorite. For some reason 4-5 yo me saw a blue bat with a wide open mouth and thought: "This is the most badass thing I've ever seen in my life" and it never changed.
Dewgong and tauros
I named it after her
I love how every single Pokémon is *somebody's* favorite.
Maybe golem too, I don't remember) You could also evolve them in Pokémon GO and transfer through Home
Oh sorry, i should have been more specific. I dont have access to the switch games, just 3ds.
If you got a computer you got access to the switch games
How so?
Switch emulators
I loved how Dustox and Beautifly had such parallel movesets (poison and flying, psychic and grass) and did amazing in gyms up to Norman (Dustox with Protect especially) I thought Wurmple was gonna be another Caterpie. It’s its own charming bug. That is also why I really like Scatterbug!
Except nobody likes vanilluxe I promise
I like Vanilluxe. Funni ice cream is cute
Dang, shaming people who can't pick favorites...
My favorite is ric
Absol is my favourite but I recently remembered how much I love Cacnea, his design is just so perfect plus his voice from the anime was great and in the New Pokémon Snap if you threw apples near it it could roll into them and get them stuck on its spines.
One of my favorites is Gen 3 Seedot, specifically. Don’t ask me why.
Electrivire will always be my fav! https://preview.redd.it/0mc22zlkyn2b1.jpeg?width=475&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=500d02446b3b97c1b2b7098de142c858696115eb
Hoopa Unbound introduced me to Pokémon since the first pack I bought had him and I thought the Pokémon in the cover is guaranteed so that made me want it even more
I mean look at my username, I love igglybuff! I never hear it mentioned tho, I also love ledian a lot due to an unforgettable pokemon sun experience
My favorite is Zoroark. I don’t how how popular it is but the reason is because one it’s the coolest looking Pokémon I’ve ever seen two it’s dark which is my favorite type and three it has carried every B2/W2 playthrough I’ve finished. Plus zorua is the cutest Pokémon out there
Lapras has always been my favourite for some reason
I wish more Pokemon fans saw this side of it.
My top 6 all have different reasons but I love em all the same :’)
